The Blot can’t believe it’s only been a year since the launch of the Classic Thundercats Minimates toy line! After originally debuting at SDCC last year, it’s now on its fifth box set which will be released this summer exclusively at San Diego Comic-Con 2013. This time the series goes old school, focusing on the origins of the Thundercats on Thundera. The SDCC 2013 Exclusive Thundercats Minimates Classic Series 4 includes a young Prince Lion-O, Jaga, Grune the Destroyer and Mumm-Ra with his faithful Ma-Mutt.

As his homeworld crumbled around him, young Prince Lion-O fled Thundera with the noble Jaga. Earlier this week Jeff Lamm announced he’d be releasing the final colorway of his 6” M5 Bravo vinyl figure (produced by Unbox Industries). The character is being phased out, but fear not M5 Bravo fans…he may be back in a different form soon! At least this robot monster is going out with a bang, as this is definitely The Blot’s favorite version of M5 Bravo ever released. The Teleport Edition M5 Bravo is cast in clear vinyl with glitter and comes in two painted colorways sold blind bag style. What’s really neat about this release is it’s made from an extra squishy vinyl, which reminds me of one of those glittery squishy balls from the 25¢ vending machines.

After a number of teasers and leaks, Funko has officially announced its DC Comics Pop! Heroes Wave 4!!! The Blot’s not ashamed to say this might be my new favorite DC Comics Pop! release. Wave 4 includes Nightwing, Superboy, Batman Beyond, Harley Quinn and Darkseid. What an incredible line-up right??? I especially love that Funko used the old school Kirby-eque style Darkseid and I’m always going to love a Dick Grayson release.

True Blood Season 6 Teaser Posters

After a much too long hiatus True Blood returns to the small screen tonight (Sunday, June 16th) on HBO! I understand why HBO takes such long breaks between seasons but I’ve been jonzing for some Tru:Blood and a return trip to Bon Temps. Surprisingly, reports are tonight’s season premiere takes place immediately after the Season 5 finale. This kind of makes sense considering what happened to close out the hit show’s fifth season. Should prove interesting times for Sookie, Bill, Eric and the rest of their motley crew. The teaser posters for this season aren't as cool as the ones HBO has released in the past, but maybe they're running out of creative Vampire inspired ways to promote each season.

True Blood airs Sunday nights on HBO at 9/8c.

Superman Man of Steel Character Movie Banners

The Blot can’t believe it’s finally opening weekend of Man of Steel, Superman’s long awaited return to the theaters. It seems like forever since Brandon Routh donned the red and blue tights and cape doesn’t it? Well, now it’s Henry Cavill’s turn and based on all of the early film reviews this movie is going to be a HUGE hit for Warner Bros and DC Comics!

I do love these Man of Steel Character Movie Banners even though they’re not all that different than the Man of Steel Character Movie Posters. I like how they play up the Superman’s alien origin through the banners’ text of “You Are Not Alone.” Plus Michael Shannon as General Zod looks so freaking menacing! Russell Crowe also looks pretty bad ass as Superman’s father Jor-El. That’s one character I never though could look particularly “cool”.

This weekend Zack Snyder’s highly anticipated live action Superman movie Man of Steel finally hits theaters and The Blot is super excited! The film’s been getting rave reviews and this might be just the kick start the DC movie universe needed to get a Justice League film off the ground. To celebrate the film’s release Mondo will be releasing two amazing Man of Steel screen prints tomorrow by Ken Taylor and Martin Ansin!

First up is Ken Taylor masterful illustration of a young Clark during simpler times. “Man of Steel” by Ken Taylor is a 20”x36” numbered screen print. The Standard Edition has a limited edition run size of 300 pieces and will retail for $50, while the Variant has a limited edition run size of 150 pieces and will retail for $75 each. This print goes on sale at a random time Thursday, June 13th, at the Mondo online store.

While Ken Taylor’s Man of Steel print is fun, Martin Ansin’s print is freaking mind blowing!!! Just look at all that Superman goodness. Seriously, his Superman is right up there with Alex Ross’ rendition in my mind of iconic Supermans. What’s even cooler about this release is it will be a Timed Release Edition! The Blot’s been waiting for some really cool character movie posters for this summer’s Man of Steel and they’re finally here! Surprisingly all of the film’s promotional posters seem to only focus on Henry Cavill’s Superman, Michael Shannon’s General Zod and Russell Crowe’s Jor-El. But where’s my poster featuring Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne’s Perry White or Kevin Costner as Jonathan “Pa” Kent!?! I really can’t believe how little the film’s marketing campaign is focusing on Adams’ Lois Lane. Here’s hoping this film does gangbusters this weekend in the theaters so we can get a sequel!

What The Blot really wants to know is whether or not these Aardman Animations x DC Comics action figures are actually popular!?! I honestly have not heard a single good thing about them from collectors, but DC Collectibles keeps on producing more. Personally, I think they’re pretty cool looking (I love that stop-motion animation style) but even that isn’t driving me to buy any of them. They all seem a little over priced. Yesterday LASH of Mutant Vinyl Hardcore surprised the world by releasing two small runs and a one-off Star Wars inspired custom Daigomi vinyl figures! What a killer collaboration with Guumon!!! LASH created micro runs of a Luke Skywalker X-Wing Pilot Daigomi and a Darth Vader Daigomi, and a really rare one of a kind Yoda Daigomi.

Each figure stands 8.25” tall and is 6” wide. What a behemoth of a toy! The Luke Skywalker X-Wing Pilot Daigomi was cast in clear vinyl, features a blue doll eye, and is painted inside and out with metallic oranges and silver and smoke black with highlights of blue, white, red and clear yellow spray. Last Friday Dark Ink and Acme Archives Direct released the third print in Dave Perillo’s original Star Wars Trilogy Set! “Return of the Jedi” is based on the Star Wars film of the same name, and includes pretty much all of the key characters from Episode VI, including all three members of the Max Rebo Band! Perillo’s unique art style continues to impress, and I really hate to see his Star Wars triptych to end.

New Superman Man of Steel Movie Posters

It’s not quite summer yet, but the summer movie season is already in high gear with huge films like Iron Man 3 and Star Trek Into Darkness in theaters. So far most of the summer’s big films are getting pretty mixed reviews, and The Blot’s super interested to hear what fans think about Zach Snyder’s upcoming Superman live action film Man of Steel. The trailers look cool, but they’re not really what I’m looking for from a Superman film. However, these one sheet movie posters look epic. I love how iconic the posters look, and that’s what I want in a classic DC Comics Superman story (that and Lex Luthor and/or Braniac as the villain). There’s no more iconic hero than Kal-El and his films need to exude that feeling.
