The card is the epitome of easy peasy! Now this stamp P110 World Christmas by Stampendous had been on the shelf at Classic for quite a while. It’s amazing how one can pass by many stamps not realizing their full potential. What I love about this stamp is that the sentiment is built right in!

The card measures 5 1/2 x 4 1/4″. I stamped it in Library Green Archival Ink because it’s great for fine detail and it’s oil based and won’t run which is important for the next step.
I then took a waterbrush and dipped it into Ranger’s Sunflower Sparkle Perfect Pearls and painted all the stars on the tree.
As I took the above photo at night, I didn’t fully capture the metallic glint from the pearls. I did try to get a close up though.

The only thing that takes time is painting in the stars but I find if I’m watching TV or just listening to music, it’s quite therapeutic. Of course you can totally bling it up a lot more using rhinestones, pearls or even using more colours of perfect pearls. There are many possibilities using this stamp.

The stamp is called Sunflower with Butterfly designed by Gary Roberston and is by Impression Obsession, H1771

I had coloured this image before taking the intermediate Copic certification course. I used a ton of Copic colours to colour this stamp, I don’t have the list but I can easily find out if you’re interested in which colours I used.

Now what’s interesting when you (not necessarily YOU, more like ONE, but more often I mean ME although it just may refer to you as well lol) colour something you’re right up in the image and can get lost in it. When I look at the picture of it, I realize that the shading isn’t as intense as I would have liked it. At the time, I thought it was. Whether that’s after taking the course or just looking at it from a different perspective.

Where is this going you ask?
By taking a photo of it, I’ve removed/detached myself from it and can be a little more objective and see it from a totally different perspective.
When I get stuck between a couple of looks or card layouts, I place the pieces on the card and take a picture of it with my phone. Then I rearrange the pieces in the alternate layout and take another picture. Then I look at both of the photos. More often than not, I find that one comes together better than the other. But for whatever reasons/hangups I couldn’t see it when it’s right in front of me. So the next time you’re stuck and not sure what to do, you may want to give it a go!

There’s the odd time, where even photographs don’t help and that’s when I walk away and go back to the pictures a day or two later.

Another approach would be to use masking! Where you can make layers and adding dimension with ink(s) without adding paper.

So you can guess what I did?

I got INKY and had FUN!

When I thought long and hard after I had made this card, it hit me like large bricks dropping on a vat of jello!!! hahaaaa…
HERE is a bunch of wonderful and fun techniques that I normally do on a tag but in this case, I did it on a card. It’s perfect for a one layer card because one doesn’t usually add a lot of layers to tags. WAHOOOO!!

Now after I had finished the card, I wish that I had taken pictures along the way to show you the process and to show you that in fact it is truly one layer even though it doesn’t look like it! (I made a note that I will make a similar card and make it into a tutorial, just for you!)

As you can see there are a few layers of colour and inking techniques, I just thought to do a close up on the last one which was spraying the Pearl, Perfect Pearls Mists through a Crafter’s Workshop stencil.

One easy technique that came to mind when I embarked on this card making feature is embossing on foil. Yes it’s simple enough and most often too simple that we tend to forget that it produces beautiful results.

Once again, I found myself scrambling to get a card together on Thursday night! haha, I think this just may become a habit! UGH! But I was somewhat tired from work and knew I had to get a card together pretty quick, so I grabbed the Jewel Tones package of Spellbinders foil (yes, I flinched but I made myself use some of this precious stash!) and pulled out the blue. It’s a nice dark blue, I was hoping for something a little lighter but it grew on me.

I cut the piece then embossed it using The Ice Crystals Cuttlebug folder. I had thought that I should take a photo just after embossing.

Now although it looks quite snazzy as it is, I sanded the embossed areas to bring out the silver foil underneath to give it more dimension. I just love this technique!

Since the foil was super easy to do, I stamped the sentiment from Verve (Snowflake Splendor Set) and popped it up on pop dots. (I know it’s crazy talk! lol)

The card size is 5 1/2 x 4 1/4 and the foil piece was cut to 5 x 3 3/4. I just cut around the sentiment I had on hand.

Again, I had lost track of time and forgotten what day of the week it was! So last night, I had really embraced the spirit of Easy Peasy and flew by the seat of my pants!

I also decided to take pictures along the way and create a picture tutorial for you, just to mix things up a bit!

I reached for these Design Adhesives, there are many designs you can choose from and there’s 4 double sided adhesive sheets per pack. They’re pretty inexpensive at just under $5 a pack. The adhesive seems quite sticky and works great with transfer foil, glitter and I can image fun flock would be great too! (I’m not sure if the adhesive would be able to stand up to embossing powder using heat, I would need to test it out.)

Here’s a better view of the design sheet in this pack which is called: Jolly Greetings and as you can see it has a few sentiments in fun fonts!

I just cut out the sentiments that I wanted to use and positioned them on a 5 1/2 x 8 1/2″ piece of white card stock.

I then removed the release paper from “happy” and added Lime Green, Glitter Ritz Microfine Glitter.

I did the same to the “holidays” sentiment and added Fire Red, Glitter Ritz Microfine Glitter.

To finish it off, I added three of these Holly stickers by EK Success. Totally Easy Peasy!

I really wasn’t sure where to start with colours, I stared at Distress ink for a little while but I realized that they weren’t going to colour the tag themselves. So I flipped through my inky blot tag collection. (I have no idea what to call it but my “inky blot tag collection” are tags that I’ve used to mop up left over inky bits left on my craft sheet that I’ve seemed to have collected.)
You what was funny? I thought I didn’t have enough variety in my inky tag collection! (ARG!) Ah, ha! So it seemed I was avoiding some colours and well, let’s boot me out of my comfort zone and use something different! Go figure! In case you didn’t realize my FAVE colours are purple and pink! And with Ranger Distress Inks, Broken China is on my speed dial list.
So I sucked it up and reached for a tag that started with yellow and green. I worked in a little of Shabby Shutters and well, I still couldn’t resist using a little Broken China in it! I also love using Vintage photo but resisted and kept the bright colours in the tag.

I do LOVE this stamp in the Stampers Anonymous, Haberdashery collection and found these words on a B Line Designs stamp. It seems at the moment, I’m using Forest Moss distress ink to colour all my ribbon lately and this one was no exception!

I’ve been inspired recently with Shimmer sheetz so I picked up a package of the White Iris, I embossed it with Tim’s Holtz’s Patchwork texture fades and then applied a variety of green alcohol inks. I then brayered on Olive Archival ink onto the embossed areas. The tag and ribbon were coloured using Forest Moss distress ink. I couldn’t resist to dip into a new Memory Box die (Whimsy Circle) I had recently picked up and used it behind the tag. I just love the delicateness that it brings. The sentiment on the tag was stamped in Jet Black Archival ink and is from Stamper’s Anonymous Tim Holtz (of course!), the Shabby French set and reads:
“What you do today is important because you are exchanging a day of your life for it.“

I’ve had something like this card in mind for some time. I had even done the embossing a few weeks ago but just hadn’t felt it was ready to use it in a card.

This card is SUPER easy peasy with great results, the only downside would be the cost of the velvet and the foil card stock.

This card measures: 5 1/2 x 4 1/4
-emboss green velvet with Christmas Tree Cuttlebug folder
-mount on Gold foil card stock
-mount gold foil card stock with velvet onto a card base

Of course you can bling it up by adding rhinestones or pearls but I love the richness of the velvet against the gold foil that the simplicity works so well.
A resource saving trick? Diecut or punch something out of the middle of the gold foil card stock before adhering the velvet (just make sure the velvet will cover it), use the diecut piece in something else and the recipient won’t even know that there’s something missing!

The first challenge sooo makes sense…the COVER!!

I added gesso to the cover to give me a base (because the cover was slick), then sprayed various colours of Adirondack, Colour Wash. (I just got word that my LSS will be receiving my order of all the Dylusions ink sprays as well as a few Dylusions stamp sets, hopefully I’ll have them for the next challenge, YIPEEEE!).
The rest of the background was created using a Crafter’s Workshop Stencils by sponging Claudine Hellmuth Studio Paints along with a fine paint brush. I had also used a few of Tim Holtz stamps using Archival ink and added some fun washi tape.

Then, I wanted to create a little bit of dimension so I had cut out some grunge paper using the Hanging Sign die then painted it and added some pearls using Viva Decor Pearl Pen. I was mucking around up to this point when some inspiration came to me!

One of my ultimate fave comedy troops from the UK is “Smack the Pony”, if you’ve never seen them be sure to look them up. They’re quirky, silly, crazy, fun and they always get me doubled over laughing!

Now there’s this one segment where they show “video dating clips” throughout their shows and it’s this one in particular

So it begins….I am, making art….

One reason that had attracted me to art jounaling was that I could just play around with loads of colour (I’m a colour addict!) and whether or not I wanted to share my work, it was entirely up to me. I can create and not have to worry that it didn’t turn out the way I wanted…I can create just because!

I chose a few bright colours this time around and I was pretty happy with the results. I know I still need to play with this technique a little more to get the hang of it. What I do love about making up backgrounds is that it can steer you in a different direction from where you thought, it takes a life on it’s own. After I had made this background I wanted to use Tim’s Papillon stamp but the hot air balloon stamp just seemed perfect on it!
