Remember when folks would just pretend like all that funny business of compromising sexual/familial situations between white slave owners and black chattel was impolite to discuss ever? That a lot of folks would just walk around, happily ignorant, pretending like they didn’t know nuttin about great-great-great Grand Pappy Archibald’s fondness for spending his evenings trolling the slave quarters for some ass?

Well, this is America, jack! We will drop shame in a hot minute to say, “Hey! I’m related to an Obama too!” Yeah, yeah the slave girl was only 15 when she gave birth to our common ancestor, but that was like NORMAL back in olden days, right? Right? We don’t know for a FACT Michelle Obama’s ancestors were raped by my ancestors! Can’t we just come visit the White House for Thanksgiving and braid each others hair and share memories and shit?

Adeshola Blue: Health Care Reform Passes, But What Will We Get?

Last weekend Nancy Pelosi and the White House celebrated the passage of healthcare reform by a vote of 220-215. Time to break out the Kool and the Gang mp3, right? Wrong. Unfortunately for the White House, this is one of many hoops they must jump through in order to get passage of this reform bill. But the President can pencil this one into the win column, because the big challenge is approaching. The Blue Dogs in the Senate and Joe Lie-berman stand to bite the President on the backside once again and put the public option out to pasture. (I know President Obama is ruing the day he campaigned for Joe Lieberman.) Add a Christmas wish of a deadline and the next few weeks will continue the high drama that is known as Capitol Hill.

Even if this thing passes I wonder what we are actually getting. Is everyone getting insurance? And if so, which plan are we getting? Are we getting Blue Cross/Blue Shield lite? Will my employer opt out of the wonderful plan I currently have and pay into the "public" option? Will I be able to get birth control pills paid for under this version of legislation? Will the Democrats have the balls to bypass the Republicans and the Blue Dogs and just create Medicare part E, as in healthcare for everybody? Or will the President go gimmicky and offer to cover pets so that he can get everyone on board? (White House, feel free to add the "Pet Option.") Either way, those who aren't covered will have some sort of coverage, and ultimately this is Obama's goal. Maybe he can write that win in pen.

Racism AND Sexism at the New York Post?

What? So they just HAPPENED to fire the person who complained about the racist monkey editorial cartoon and not the cartoonist! What are you trying to say, mis amigos at Mediate? I’m sure it was all just a horrible coincidence. I mean, racism AND sexism at a Rupert Murdoch-owned publication? Everyone knows they only have the utmost respect for minorities and people who happen to have vaginas! *Cough* Sarcasm! *Cough*

In the 38-page lawsuit, the former associate editor at the paper brings claims of not only political bias, but racial insensitivity, prejudiced hiring practices, rampant sexism and corruption. She was routinely mocked in a racist manner due to her Hispanic heritage, she alleges, and the suit notes that the last five employees fired by the paper’s publisher have been people of color.

“[W]ithin the four walls of the Post exists a hostile work environment where female employees and employees of color have been subjected to pervasive and systemic discrimination and/or unlawful harassment based on their gender, race, color and/or national origin,” the lawsuit reads. “The Post, and its parent corporation, News Corporation,” the suit continues, “maintain, condone, tolerate, directly participate in and contribute to a hostile work environment.”

I just can’t believe that any organization that would have someone as outstanding as Glenn “Obama Is A Racist and I can’t stop crying!” Beck on their cable TV network would tolerate such chicanery! What is coming to the world when a newspaper owned by a man who never met a nekkid scandal he didn’t like would put up with SEXISM at ANY of his publications! Why I neva!
