I’m pushing to do more proper drawing this year (remember when this thing was supposed to be a webcomic? Those were the days!) and I’m kinda rusty and blocked. If anybody could leave a few sketch requests/suggestions in the ask box or fanmail that would be super. I’m also trying to do this thing where I ask my strange husband to request drawings but sometimes they are so ridiculously COMPLICATED and INTRICATE that he forgets what he asked for before I even get a good start.

The Big Brain is a bit dumb sometimes. I need to borrow yours. XD

I think this was very well-said and I wanted to highlight it :) The most common question (predominantly from people presenting male) is “Why didn’t you stand up for yourself?” I hope this answers it.

Quick question for my fellow linux users

Does anybody else run into the problem of having to refresh a page with a flash video say…ten or fifteen times before the video portion of the flash will load? I’ve even tried updating to the Flash 11 beta (64bit btw) and it hasn’t helped. I’m running Ubuntu 11.04, but I’ve had this problem since the 9.whatever versions or so.

Suggestions?

UPDATE: Adding medibuntu repositories and installing a couple codecs from there seemed to clear up the problem in firefox and opera, but not in chrome. Eventually I found a google support thread about this problem (after finally hitting on the right search phrase, which I’be been trying to do for weeks) and a user waaaay down the page suggested refreshing with ctrl+f5 instead of f5 by itself. In the 20 or so times I’ve tried it tonight that works on the first or second try each time, so I’d say that’s a workable solution at the moment. I’d definitely also say there’s a pretty persistent caching issue in chrome. Bleh. :P

I just…I don’t know what this is. I just upgraded to Natty Narwhal and wanted to make sure all my tablet stuff still worked. Drew this in about 20 - 30 minutes in MyPaint.

I made a thing! It’s sort of significant because I made it in Gimp instead of Photoshop, on account of me trying to spend more time in Ubuntu. I’m sure I could get a version of Photoshop working in wine at some point (I’ve got an old copy of 7 somewhere, when I can be arsed to dig it out of the storage closet) but as a fan of open source I think it’s important to see if I can’t rely on Open software more.

I think it turned out pretty nice. ^_^

Pardon the long hiatus

Two members of my family have been struggling with some pretty severe health issues for some time, and these last couple months have been especially difficult. This has made it hard for me and the boy to think of much funny (the last one we thought of seemed good but I couldn’t get the art to come out right) and it may be a while longer yet. I knew going in I wouldn’t be updating this comic super-often, but I really hadn’t intended on such a long lapse so early on.

I’m going to try some noodling and doodling and see if anything interesting comes out, but I can’t make any promises yet. This was always intended to be a “just for fun” kinda thing, and I could probably use some fun, so I’d like to keep trying. We’ll see what happens.
