in case you’re wondering, this was completely and unabashedly designed, coded, and skinned in wordpress by yours truly. it took me many months to get this baby from its infantile stages of mockups to hours poring over html and css, then battling wordpress tirelessly… and finally to what you see now! i deserve a medal, really. (hehe) and yep i am still very much in love with the black and white palette.

as usual not paying attention in one of the many redundant classes at artschool.
experimenting a character style i call The Cheekbone Theory.

its ma homies, originally part of a group of 5 who called ourselves Hwa Hee*.
after a forced split (boo to school and their “only in groups of max 3″ rules), we girls decided to stick together and emerged as the Hwa Hee Dollies**!

i havent been drawing much but ive been busy with some odd jobs here & there to put more pennies in my pocket to be squandered on beautiful shoes that i will fall out of love with once they land in my hands (shh dont tell my boy, who already thinks i spend a ridiculous amount of moneys to torture my feet but well, the men just dont get it, do they?)

this is Claudine and Clementine, the haughtiest twins in the neighbourhood.
they love christmas for the presents, though the gifts did them a nary bit of good.

bloodshot eyes and sulky faces. puffy sleeved leotards and swishy frocked skirts. the cotton candy hair reminded me of Claudia from Interview With The Vampire and hence: Claudine. whose twin is Clementine. to see the picture in larger size click here.

and omg, sorry for the infrequent art/posts. i havent been too inspired lately.
usually mundanity turns my brain to useless mush and on the contrary: the worse my mood, the more i draw.
recently theres been plenty of family drama but this time, oddly, it was hardly motivating me to do my art.

NO MATTER. as usual i wont be home for the festivities: this year, im flying off to the philippines. hooray! my flight leaves already next Wednesday. being one of the few people who love flying, i cant wait to get my passport stamped.

sorry for the unabashedly long unofficial absence… literally zero art done since the conclusion of my exhibition…! eeks. in my defense, my schedule has been crammed with work, work, and more work! (i suppose its a good thing… for my bank account)

here’s a piece i did, custom for halloween!
look for more variations soon, because she was originally meant to be for something else.
i know, im cheap, slappin’ on fangs and bloody tears and a noose – but dude, its waaaay to easy to qualify for halloweenishness!

her name is leigh. and i wrote a shitty poem for this piece:

poor leigh
she only wanted to play
but the man bit her
and she screamed murder
and now she hates the day

so im not going out on halloween because its just madness and i dont really fancy queueing 3hours to get into some shitty club jampacked with shitty smelly kids all doing the melbourne shuffle (ORIGINALITY PLEASE, GUYS?). instead, i have 2 houseparties to attend! woohoo, cant wait! im gonna be anna wintour, hawhaw… in fact, im going out now to buy some faux fur to be totally anna.

so what’s everyone gonna be on halloween?

a LOT of people came (lovelovelove!) and i was pretty overwhelmed (only went to the toilet 4h later omg) and still i only got a chance to speak to a few of you only (sadly!). even twitter friends and old schoolmates whom i’ve lost touch with came! awww, guys! anyway if i missed you, SORRY and feel free to poke me on facebook ok! sniff.

uh i know i thanked these people many times already but REALLY i cant thank them enough for their help/advice/guidance/patience with me: SCYA, House@dempsey, Q’s print! and DAVE (my love, my backbone, my eternal sunshine) and Stephylicious (my besty, my social whore, my patient counsel). my sister (one of the pieces was dedicated to her!), my mama and my aunt for gracing my event with their presence! and EVERYONE WHO CAME and/or bought my art♥. also to the lovely crew from YOUTH.SG for the interview/listening to me ramble on lamely… and kim+claire! thanks for the beautiful bouquet of flowers! you girls are the sweetest.

Her first exhibition illustrates the icons, symbols and representations of food as they interact with and manifest in the human body. Sub-topics such as vegetarianism, genetic modification, food and morality emerge in her artworks, resulting in images that are a tad whimsical, provocative and not to everyone’s tastebuds. But definitely, food for thought.
