Cute Fuzzy Owl

I started amigurumi after seeing Chris at book-a-rama's Love Birds. Finding out that yarn companies have free patterns just adds fuel to the fire. Here's the pattern I just followed from Coats and Clark ( I agree with them -- it is the "cutest little owl"):

(Of course, I played around some by changing the feet, using different colors and textured yarn, etc. I also made the eyes out of fabric, rather than using plastic eyes, b/c I worry about babies swallowing them.)

Turtle Family In Progress

Pinwheel Quilting

I'm now (mostly) following the instructions from p.s. i quilt for finishing the pinwheel sampler quilt. Since I quilted each of the blocks as I went along, mine is a bit different, but still making good progress. Here's some current shots:

(the cream fleece is the back of the sashing)

(the pink fleece is the quilt top sashing)

Just have to keep trucking along (my friend's due in 5 weeks -- gulp!). Meanwhile, I may not be posting much for the next 2 weeks because I have some health things going on that I need to take care of. I'll be sure to post the finished pics once they're ready, though.

Pinwheel Sampler Quilt Along - My Last Block

For the eighth block of the p.s. i quilt pinwheel quilt along, Rachel wanted us to make our own pinwheel block so that each quilt would be different. She gave the link to several examples of other pinwheel blocks, but the one I chose was a block I saw her her original sampler quilt. I just made up the pattern to come up with that final product. Here's how it went:

The p.s. i quilt block seven and eight instructions are up. Still behind, but I am getting some quilting done on some other projects! At least all our unusual rain (more than 6 inches in two days) has me back on track with my quilting.

Lost the Rhythm

I was in a pretty good quilting schedule there for a few weeks -- getting a little done every evening and usually finishing a block of the pinwheel quilt from p.s. i quilt every week. I got my wall hanging for my friend's birthday finished -- other than the hanging loops on the back. Then work travel and family stuff got in the way. Now it's been about 2 weeks since I've done ANY quilting and I'm feeling far behind on all my projects.

Yikes.

So, how do you get back into the rhythm of things when you've been de-railed by unavoidable schedule crashers? (I have a tendency to let everything slide into chaos and pick a new "start" day to get back to a normal schedule.)

Very excited to have so much of this baby quilt done! Again, the half-square triangle tutorial was a huge help on this block. Just figured out I'm going to need to repeat 4 of the 8 blocks Rachel will be showing us to get the 12 I need. Thinking this will be one of my doubles.
