Industry-leading innovation is incorporated into Telerik's enterprise-grade object-relational mapper, OpenAccess ORM. With this latest release, OpenAccess is the only ORM fully supporting Microsoft's cloud-based SQL Azure database. Developers can map to cloud-hosted databases the same way they do with local databases, such as SQL Server; OpenAccess also supports Model First and Schema First mapping to SQL Azure databases. An interactive online demo site featuring rich media tutorials and contextual content designed to assist developers in mastering the features of Telerik's ground-breaking and time-saving ORM has been launched in conjunction with this release.

With the Q3 2009 release comes the industry's first native Silverlight report viewer. Incorporated into the Telerik Reporting tool, the viewer allows users to easily integrate reports into any Rich Internet Application developed with Silverlight. With reports rendered in XAML, the product also now offers support for report exporting to Microsoft's XPS document format. Additionally, the Q3 release adds Document Map functionality for all report viewers, enabling swift, effortless navigation by displaying report data in a tree-like table of contents.

This release also pioneers the first codeless Silverlight UI testing automation solution, in the upgraded WebUI Test Studio. The product's UI object model gives users the ability to build test automation for the entire range of UI elements available in Silverlight. Furthermore, Telerik custom-developed translators for RadControls for Silverlight expose necessary test actions and verifications in WebUI Test Studio, facilitating quick and easy building of tests against Telerik controls.

Telerik CAB Enabling Kit for WinForms Available as Open Source Project on CodePlex

Being one of the first vendors to provide support for the CAB and the SCSF, Telerik is strongly committed to provide seamless and easy integration with the CAB framework.

"The interest in extending the TCEK has been so great that we decided to provide TCEK to the community as an open source project on CodePlex," said Vassil Petev, WinForms Unit Manager at Telerik. "We believe this will give developers an incentive to provide updates to TCEK, which in turn to make the integration between RadControls and CAB more robust and trouble-free."

The Composite UI Application Block (CAB) is a framework provided by the Microsoft patterns & practices team for developing smart client Windows Forms applications. It allows for dynamic loading of independent yet cooperating modules into a common shell. Since CAB is supporting only the windows components included with Visual Studio, Telerik has recognized the time-consuming task of developing support for third-party controls and is one of the first vendors to offer it with its Windows Forms suite. Telerik CAB Enabling Kit for WinForms provides integration of RadControls for WinForms with the Composite UI Application Block (CAB) and its underlying infrastructure.

The CAB kit comes with workspaces, classes, and adapters for major WinForms controls to enable the development of enterprise applications by using common patterns and practices. It contains all needed wrappers to start using RadControls for WinForms with the CAB framework immediately.

The CodePlex CAB project will be fully supported by Telerik and will be updated with each new Telerik release to guarantee that all latest Telerik versions are supported. Since Telerik CAB Enabling Kit has gone on CodePlex developers will be able to give their input in extending and facilitating the integration and support of RadControls with CAB. Company's new OSS product line extends ASP.NET MVC functionality with server-based UI extension framework and client-side UI modules

Introduced as a Community Technology Preview (CTP), this latest addition to the company's family of .NET products amplifies ASP.NET MVC functionality by delivering a server-based UI extension framework that integrates with client-side UI modules based on popular JavaScript library, jQuery.

Today's release marks a milestone for Telerik, as it is the first time any of its technologies will be made available under an open source license. These newest ASP.NET MVC extensions will be offered under the Microsoft Public License (MS-PL), the OSI-approved license used in the distribution of the ASP.NET MVC framework. Under this license, developers can freely use and redistribute the Telerik Extensions for ASP.NET MVC in all projects, both commercial and open source. A commercial license that includes support will also be available.

Telerik RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX is the Most Used Commercial AJAX Toolset

Telerik RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX suite is the most widely used commercial AJAX toolkit according to a survey on the Ajax development and JS libraries, prepared by Simone Chiarreta, an Italian .NET developer, architect and Microsoft MVP.

The survey was focused on the adoption of the AJAX technology among web developers, as well as the most used toolkits for development of AJAX applications. More than 2500 developers took the survey, and 71.4% of them stated that they are using jQuery, second comes the Ajax Control Toolkit with 58,8%, followed by the core ASP.NET Ajax library, which is used by 44,8%. About 75% of the respondents say that they are using the AJAX technology either in production, development or prototype.

The survey results show that Telerik RadControls for ASP.NET AJAX is the most used commercial toolkit for building AJAX applications in the .NET space. 15,6% out of all participants in the survey stated that they prefer developing with RadControls.
