Andrew always wanted to create a VGA generator. The microcontroller of choice was Atmega1284p, because it has 16MHz of RAM and 128kB of program memory. The entire VGA generation and buffer is implemented in assembly under the GNU toolchain.

I have always wanted to create a VGA generator. It has been a personal goal of mine for some time. Over the past couple of weeks I toyed with the idea and finally decided to implement one. I decided to implement it as a framebuffer to allow for general purpose display rather than application specific display. I implemented my own small colour gamut to be memory and CPU efficient.

I have made the source code available on Github.

4-20mA R Click™ is an add-on board in mikroBUS™ form factor which serves as a receiver in a 4-20mA current loop standard. It features INA196 current shunt monitor, MCP3201 12-bit ADC as well as TPS61041 DC/DC boost converter. It receives output current (4-20mA) from transmitter and converts it into a voltage (0.4-2V). This voltage is converted into a 12-bit data signal in the MCP3201 A/D converter and sent via mikroBUS™ SPI lines. Together with 4-20mA T Click™ this board forms a complete 4-to-20mA current loop standard. It is designed to use either 3.3V or 5V power supply.

Android is now 5 years old. And within that very short time, Android managed to defeat all the other mobile platforms, including Apple’s iOS, Windows Phone and Blackberry to take the top place in the world mobile market share.

Who would have thought something that 15 Android devices are activated per second, and only 17 Big Macs are sold per second, which is almost the same.

Here’s a nice graph produced by designers and researchers at MBA Online that describes the successful development of Android.

The transistor, the ubiquitous building block of all electronic circuits, will be 65 years old on Sunday. The device is jointly credited to William Shockley (1910-1989), John Bardeen (1908-1991) and Walter Brattain (1902-1987), and it was Bardeen and Brattain who operated the first working point-contact transistor during an experiment conducted on 16 December 1947.

Yet this now ubiquitous device – these days more as an element in silicon chip design than as a discrete component – has a history that goes back to the mid-1920s.
