A lot of parents like yourself are looking for a solution to deal with their troubled teens. If you have been seeing some changes and some abnormal behaviors in your teen and nothing you have tried has worked then you might want to start thinking of some bigger solutions.

What is Boot Camp About?

Boot camp is a great way to get your teens on to the right track for a successful life ahead. Boot camps offer a dedicated staff that do nothing but provide your teen with positive encouragement and reinforcement of what’s needed to succeed. Not only will your teen leave the camp with more self respect and discipline but you will also see a change in how they are respecting others as well. This is something they don’t normally have control of when they first enter the camp. The activities teach them discipline, respect, self-worth, and better ways to handle their temper and overcome their bad habits.

The boot camp concept started out as an advanced program for juveniles. The primary focus is on respect of authority and self discipline. The person in authority orders every teen in the camp area to respond and communicate by saying “yes sir,” or yes ma’am.”

Boot camps offer many working activities as well as military exercises and intense physical training. All of the activities focus on reality, respect and responsibility. Your teen will have to wear uniforms and they’ll most likely be marching everyday. The intensity of this experience will include the person in authority getting up close and personal to help them understand that this is no game. An experience like this will turn your teen from troubled with bad attitudes and behaviors to having a new perspective and direction in their lives.

How Long Does Boot Camp Last?

Many boot camp programs can be as long as 18 weeks and as short as 6 weeks. Depending on how long your teen has been stuck in their disruptive lifestyle will reflect on how long they should attend. Usually teens that have been acting distruptive for a long time period would attend for about 12-18 weeks. If you’re nipping this in the bud and your teen just started to show signs of this kind of life then he or she may only need to attend for 6-12 weeks.

Do Boot Camps Programs Work?

Boot Camps are very strict and straight forward. They are designed to help troubled teens in a short time period. If you commit to the right amount of time for your teens needs, a program like this works about 75% the time.

If you’re a parent or guardian trying to deal with troubled teens, you may have no idea what to do. You’re not alone in this battle and you’re not the first person to go through this. You may have friends telling you to let your child learn the hard way, but the you know down deep, it’s best to take control and work with your child for a better future. You may not know what to look for in behavior changes to know if he/she is in trouble or not. That’s the first step to caring for your child.

Some of the behaviors that often lead to a bad situation:

When you notice they are distancing themselves from certain friends and your family.

They start lying more often and it soon becomes a habit.

Sometimes the teen will fall behind academically.

You may see a difference in how there starting to dress themselves and show them selves off to people.

They quickly get a whole new group of friends.

They have lack of motivation in everything they try and give up quickly.

You may see your teen using drugs and alcohol.

You may see cuts on them that definitely didn’t get there on accident.

Your child is suddenly joking about sexual activities.

Running away from home or threatening to, during every argument, even when their just stressed out.

Remember, teens have many different ways of dealing with their problems and sometimes they don’t even know they’re in trouble. They may tell you it’s ridiculous for you to be accusing them of heading towards a troubled future. Hopefully you can give your child an extra little encouragement into the right course. Some kids just need that extra push in life to get where they need to be.

They’re Still a Child in Spite of their Size

Don’t let their growing bodies confuse you. Teens need lots of love and support much like a toddler does, no matter how much they may hate that. They want to be treated like adults and live their own life but that isn’t the best way to deal with them. If your teen is in trouble and you start seeing some of the above changes and behaviors, you should seek professional counseling or other help.

What to Do?

If the above symptoms continue to even get worse, you may want to look into some of the camps or other programs. If matters get bad enough, there are a lot of options including boarding schools, boot camps, Christian programs, residential treatment centers, and also wilderness programs. These programs more often than not, end up helping kids move into a successful path in life. The success rate of these types of solutions runs about 80%. Not doing anything can worsen matters because continued trouble results in decreasing in self-worth and drains them of any motivation they may have had left.
