There are phones, there are smart phones & there are cheap smart phones.

There are luxury smart phones & Midrange smart phones.There are Phablets & Tablets.

People own multiple of these devices for entertainment,gaming,education,job & status purposes.

People are seen juggling with 2 phones in trains.

So obviously you buy 1 phone & there is the next alluring product out in the market the next day.

So what do you do?

You buy another one.

One use of spreading yourself thick in such situation may be battery capacity of most phones are comparable & low, so you can have a spare phone as backup.

Also many previous phones have limited phone memory so you can not have all your apps in one phone

So what do you do obviously buy another one.

Another reason for owning multiple devices could be the fact that,you bought a 3G now 3.5 G is out & affordable.

You bought a 3.5 G phone & now 4G is out & available.

Or now that Full HD camera or 4K Front or Back Camera is available for the video buffs.

Whatever the reason we keep piling digital junk with us till we do not know which SIM is in which phone.

Ok just joking.

But obviously Android phones got down the market of Nokia & almost destroyed Nokia to selling its business to Microsoft.

Android is evolving pretty fast & is the dominant platform currently,

Though apple gives it a tough competition in quality & availability of commercial apps.

So man expand the family of your digital devices.

The Papa is Desktop & Smart TV,

Mama is notebook,

Children are phones & tablets & of course you are the proud owner of a smart world of apps, gaming & Entertainment with world of information right on your fingertips & the need for staying connected to friends & family at all 24 hrs of day neatly satisfied.

While startups innovate & alleviate the behemoths are not even following on.

Yes it’s true, believe it or not.

Recently FB thought of launching This Day in past 1,2,3,4 years back to review the content & re share also relive the moment.

So now that is a follow on for FB which is so large that in fact it should be starting all the new trends.

So its wrong to ask customers to punch the details after a payment transaction fails.
So what are the ways around the glitch.

1.LOCAL STORAGE

This is my favorite, use cookies or HTML 5 Local Browser Storage to store the form details & retrieve without making expensive ( Both for customers & Indian Railways ) server round trips.

2. JSF Managed Session Bean:

Use sticky sessions & JSF managed session bean or plain session variables to solve the re data entry pain & time waster at time of tatkal booking.

3.Store In database:

If session is lost recover through form details thru database.

4. Policy based storage & payment re tries.

Give the option to user to decide one of or all the 3 ways to store details in policy of data persistence.
Also policy for bank gateway connection,
like try 3 times till booking succeeds or till funds last.

5.My Personal favorite is also have Cloud Hosting & never refuse a connection:

Any refused connection is like a lost business opportunity , good will & lack of professionalism,

You probably heard of Smart TV but did you think of what a smart radio may be. Well if you can build one,with heavy set specs a phone which allows you to preset all your radio stations and prioritize the order in which if Music is being played, auto tune to that station.Also internet connected it allows you to stream internet radio's of your choice. So a algorithm which detects when and how many times & how long advt's are done on channels and tunes in order of your priority. So lots of less headache to the radio listener. With up to 10 FM channels ( Entertainment Real Estate market ). available in Mumbai itself leave alone California at al, a Smart FM radio will be a catch marketing deploy. Make a few million dollars, few million Rupees. In case all radio players are playing adverts it switches to my MP3 collection and plays playlists as specified in..policies. Also policy to automatically make a list of my switched out songs and auto switch when such songs play & lots more left to imagination.

Well can you think of a animation or video as a system to pass message,

yes with a hardware key.

So what is that system?

Well think of a Video , or series of pictures with objects with a Robot programmed to interpret the message as to what is being communicated.

So a robot with a pen in a room, a computer which plays the video or animation in front of the webcam and a computer program which analyses a particular color object in the movie and write the message on the floor or generate the same on a screen without moving.

Sounds good,
only my robot knows how to decipher the message.

You could also simplify your job by instead of using a custom made animation or movie,
to analyze a existing movie to generate the movements in the robot.

Man there could be other ways to send message through a 3 HR Hindi Movie.
Modify the digital file to alter the pixels which when decrypted at particular frames with particular masks yield the message,
would be very difficult to know that a video file is a encrypted message.

If there is a way to find the Sound Transformation Function which makes ka,ki,ka,ku etc then we can create a easy voice synthesis system which uses these transformations to synthesize speech.
Also as a concept it would be useful to make a software which discovers transformation function between given input & output.

Voice Sound Fonts could be designed for various voices and creating a short voice midi file with just the notation of the song or discourse.

Today I am giving patent free design session. How to improve radio design in mp3 player & phones. Well antenna in the MP3 or phone & another redundant standby antenna in the headphone with embedded circuit to sent the radio signal to the main processor.
We all know that at the same place signal received vary with time, and signal strength may be different at two different locations of a place.I mean instead of moving my head a better design would be to move my music player.
Intelligent algorithm to use the two antenna's to consolidate the signal to improve signal quality or use the signal at position available. Either selection, weaving or stitching or channel bonding could be used as user configurable options to create a power friendly design.
Bluetooth could be used between two circuits. The customer has to move less. Intelligent algorithm interlaces the two signal to build better quality reception design. Now where is my open source antenna design & advanced processor design certificate. Send me via e-mail.

Self Organising OS or Cloud Updatable OS

Well any code needs to be optimum and code can be optimized according to usage. What if we have an OS which optimizes itself according to the metrics of usage. Say every week or every month or adaptive optimization depending on changed usage pattern. Better still?

This could be achieved via code blocks which have dynamic binding sites. So the same binary of the OS could reorganize itself without reinstallation.

Or if it seems too futuristic, far fetched, utopian or wishful thinking. Think about this.

So install a metrics module with the OS which measures usage patterns and generates a customized optimized OS for the Device in question.

This way there may not be a million transformation or code base required for a million customers, there may be 10 or 20 usage patterns which needs to be built and updated on the machines for best performance and power optimality goals depending on the device in question.

So first goal difficult, second well 6 months for 700 engineers of Apple.

How to design military robots.

Its important to understand that navigation is most important and redundancy and hack cheeking needs to be built into the Robot.

Multiple navigation system can be used to back up navigation at the time of distress or natural failure of a Robot system.

So multiple camera's for vision, Sonar and Laser Vision. Inertial vision and Kinect style navigation can be built into the robot to make him hardy.

With multipurpose Inertial Measurement units available redundancy can be built using two or more inertial units for navigation.

A adaptive priority thread could be used for integrity of environment from multiple maps of the environment.

This could be helpful if camouflaging or other advanced superimposition techniques are used to muddle a particular type of perception unit.

Advanced materials can be used to avoid damage quite often.

Also modularizing the robots so that the components can be detached and with random damage some of the robots can recover by replacing their damaged parts.

Have you seen so many companies having absurdly similar company logos. Some foolish innovation I would say. And company pays millions for it.

Say a RED M for Motorola and a green One for Maggie, just a joking.

WELL what if I have a s/w which searches the web for company logo info globally or nationally and creates and collates a database for me, and I create a logo and check for striking non tolerant resemblances.

WELL that would be fun.

Also the AI component would be wonderful if it creates an artistic word or symbol which is different from all these or throw 10 alternatives in a second which I could present to my client for approval.

So what how many months for this one.

The new USSD and SMS based system is likely to fail because of two reasons. It is likely that the TG of railways people with no internet on phone are going to find it highly cumbersome to adopt the complexities of OTP and MMID etc.

More ever the two new systems are likely to tax and load the already loaded databases and servers with additional applications accessing and overall success in all the modes will suffer.

Robotics is being used for various purposes. One of the purposes could be to create a emotional robot. A robot which shows emotions like human.

These emotional robots could be used for various purposes. It could be used for sex education and relationship handling and social skills development. Could be used for companions to the sick and the old and disabled.

Well what use could robots not be put to. You could combine robotics and biotech engineering and create a robotic skull with a layer of human saliva cells and use it to create the food pulp for those who lost teeth. Well it would be better to grow third and fourth set of teeth with genetic modification of code. But that may be a bit far off in the future.

We could create a number of robots who are more like human in reacting and physicality taking a step further into surrogate relationship.

Emotions could be programmed in more than one way to mimic different human personality types. For example different types of robots may react differently to a break in communication or betrayal of trust. Some may pardon, others go away.
It could also help the impotent to lead a more sexually satiated life.

CPU's are evolving briskly. There are programmable CPU's being developed for phones which can work as video,audio and radio chips.

There are Phablet's which through their performance would make a desktop shy.

Moreover the Tablet Phones are MFD's with high end cameras and all and sundry apps available on phones makes the life of a avid phone lover more and more exciting while packing exciting stuff in his reach.

High resolution pictures and videos are never a convenience today. A good life for amateur artists when they can share their stuff easily on you tube right with a single share button of their phone.

Quad core phones are at the higher end of the Smart Phone spectrum. The customer is spoiled for choice and configurations

I think the future is of smart phones.

There are free office apps like Kingston Office in Android Play Store which support latest doc viewing and editing making the life of a office goer smooth while making working mobile a affordable solution.

So if you are in two minds about a smart phone , there is nothing wrong in trying one. Many good smart phones are available in the 10,000 to 12,000 Rs range.

Knowing technology today is a certain edge in job as well as for students. Knowledge is a click away.

But I think google is a winner by trying. Those who try find the treasure. Those who experiment , meet the success. They have the right soul, I am sure they have forgone billions in revenues due to those at the top helm.

Surely the free services google offers are better than many paid and many prefer these free services to those paid.

The recent smart phone quad core , for 200 dollars is another shot in their arm, as it challenged the market price dynamics and upsets the buying carts of many, with quad core processor now available to the many albeit at affordable price.

Most companies are selling such phones for $600.

I mean google is sure no wanderer.

But people are switching to tablet, being lighter and convenient. Also android tablets give a plethora of fun and productivity apps to keep you busy.

I having being in technology blogging and in awe with technology am no exception and invested in Tablet Phone with decent spec's. having the power and speed on your side you may be able to enjoy faster browsing and a gaming device, Camcorder and Camera all in your tablet phone

So a tablet is good, light and powerful and has in a small factor.

So what should be the specs of a decent tablet to buy.

Here is my checklist

Well I use Firefox,

I always prefer Internet Explorer.

May be some of the most dumb things to do.

We all know how Firefox ate away the Mighty IE.

Also who would not agree that Chrome and Opera are the de-facto smart and fast browsers.

So the best practice would be to install all the popular browsers and use them once in a while to see which one is giving the best results.

Also there may be a malware in your OS which is blocking a particular browser, so if you have some urgent work and if you have not already installed few browsers you may have to urgently download a browser which may delay your task at hand.

Also if a browser is not working at a particular time , it is always advisable to opt for a uninstall and a re-install which may restore the vitality of the utility software.

Also always have the latest version of browsers and OS to be on the safe side of the various online threats.

There are dual SIM phones but no dual battery phones. I mean if we miniaturise the phone batt., we can have 4 batteries in one phone

WE can charge the batteries in the docket or in phone and switch to various batteries when need arises.
Surely some engineering at this front can make consumers life easy.
Or going to the futuristics if there is some way to wirelessly charge the phone, just like we get the audio signal if we can charge the phone vi aa WAN then life could be even easier and we could do without miniaturisation with a single battery.
