Google has posted on their blog that their new Google Tool bar 6 for internet explorer (currently not available on other browsers) will allow for one click translation.

"The new Translate feature is available in all international versions of Toolbar, including English, and the translation service supports 41 different languages: Albanian, Arabic, Bulgarian, Catalan, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Filipino, Finnish, French, Galician, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Maltese, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian and Vietnamese"

How to create your own ringtone for your iPhone.

To create your own custom ringtone on your iPhone follow these instructions (done using windows xp):

1.Select the song in iTunes and right click on it

2.Select "Get Info" and go to the Tab "Options" and Select the start time and the stop time. For your ringtone you need to select 30 seconds of the song, you can pick any part of the song. After that you click OK

3.After doing this you need to click on the Advance Tab and Select convert to ACC Version. Before doing this make sure that the song you want for your ringtone is selected.

4.You will notice that after clicking in Create ACC Version, another version of your song will be created but this version will be only 30 seconds long. This version will be your ringtone.

5.To be easier for me, I created a folder on my desktop "Ringtones for iPhone". After doing this you can copy and paste the AAC file you just created on iTunes to this folder (or any location you decide).

6.Next, what you need to do is change the extension of the file. You need to right click on the file within the folder and select Rename. After you need to change the extension from .m4a to .m4r. The extension .m4r is the one use for ringtones.

7.After changing the extension you will received the following Pop Up, you need to click in YES to continue with the changes.

8.Now, you need to go to Ringtones Library in iTunes:

9.Once you are in the Ringtones Library you will need to import your new ringtone. The easiest way to do this is to import the whole folder:

10.On the new windows browse for the folder

11.Great you just added the ringtones you created to you iTunes. Now, you only need to sync your iPhone with iTunes.

It seems that the people behind the well known Pirate bay are working on something similar to youtube. The main difference is that they will probably wont bother about copyrights ,which will mean that you will be able to find pretty much any type of content (in HD ????)

The new web page named The video bay launched as a beta , so as they clearly say "don't expect anything to work at all".
Based on the information on the web page it seems that it will use html5 enhanced futures for video , which means that you wont be able to enjoy it unless you are using on of the latest browsers (that support html5).

I was trying to help a friend that was getting the following error message each time she will try to view a youtube video. 'Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Macromedia's Flash Player:' after uninstalling and reinstalling the latest version of flash player.

The first thing I did was to check if she had the latest version of flash, since she had it I figure the problem had to be a bad installation. So I proceeded to uninstall(rebooted) and reinstall the application. It didn't fix the issue so after doing some research on the web I found this adobe page that has an un uninstaller for the plug in and active x control. I run it, reinstalled flash player. And the issue was resolved.

Watch out with an email that has the following subject "Update for Microsoft Outlook / Outlook Express (KB910721). as it is actually a trojan. Don't open it, just delete it.

The people at cnet have posted an article about the possibility of Microsoft releasing windows 7 on a usb stick for netbook users. Which is great news for netbooks users as the current solutions involve either putting additional money (some stores provide the downgrades from vista to xp for a fee) or some of your time to research how to do it from a external drive or usb stick.

TomTom for the IPhone

As you can see on TomTom's web site they have already loaded a dedicated page for their upcoming GPS product for the iPhone. And after looking at it, I have several questions. First how much will this cost? I mean from the way it looks like we will end up paying probably as much for this accesory that it will cost to get a new GPS.Also how much will the maps cost?,does it means that I wont be able to use my TomTom application on the street without the docking?

Lets wait and see, but so far im not convinced of the product.

The player will support some of the well known Mobile OS systems including Palm Web OS, Android, Symbian and windows mobile. It seem another project is being worked at for bringing it to Iphone OS.

Battery percentage display iPhone 3GS

On the the capabilities that I miss the most from other smartphones is the battery percentage display. And it seem that finally we will be able to have it on the Iphone. The bad news is that the option only appears to be on the Iphone 3GS (even if you have (OS 3.0).

To enable the option go to Settings->General->Usage->Battery Percentage (switch to on).

It seems that hackers may be looking into ways of using those smart parking meters in your city as per a post from internetnews.

"With smart card meters where there are cards that are loaded with dollar values, those cards could potentially be reset or reloaded. Some meters also take credit cards and that information might be stored on the meter where an attacker could potentially grab the information."

iphone voicemail red dot

I finally decided to get the new Iphone 3GS this week to upgrade from my unlocked Iphone 2G. Once I inserted my old SIM card on it I found out I was getting the red dot under the Phone icon as if I had a message pending (but without no number).

I had this issue with my unlocked Iphone 2G but had ignored it as I figure it had to do with the fact it was jailbreak. After looking at some forums and checking some posts from other people with similar cases, it all seemed to point to the fact it was using an unlocked (jailbreak) phone. But now why would I still have this problem on my new phone?

After trying some suggestions on the web, including the one where you had to leave a message to your self and then delete it (they said that it would come back if you did shut down your phone and rebooted it). I decided to call the phone provider (I had issues with text messaging, which I had never used before on my previous phones, as I had it disabled but now decided to enable it.).

I spoke with Tech support to fix my issue with my text messaging, they noticed that I had not activated the sim card that came with my new phone and instead was using my hold one (probably 4-5 years old). They explained to me, that some people had reported similar problems and it was probably related with the old SIM card. Also that for me to be able to enjoy better speed of the new 3GS I had to use the new SIM Card.

So I went ahead and did the change, and now not only my text messaging is working but I no longer have that red dot.

Iphone 3.0 update came out yesterday, and it just took minutes before people started posting their experience on the web, some people were able to donwload it without any problems others had to wait for today to do it. A lot of people are used to use the amazon web page when it comes to purchasing books,looking at a preview or checking the reviews on a specific book.

Google lab is bringing us Google books.A search engine dedicated to books. Couple of cool features that amazon.com doesn't have is the possibility to download a full copy (free) in pdf format for books that are out of copyright. Also when you do a search you can then click on "buy " you will have several option in which "Find in a library" which will give you information on where to find the book.

Google Books for mobile is also available for Android and iPhone users.

The guys at symantec have reported a worm that is affecting some twitter users. The worm is being deployed on twitter invitation email that has an attached file named "Invitation Card.zip". The was is being identified as W32.Ackantta.B@mm which is a mass-mailing worm that collects email addresses from the infected computer and spreads by copying itself to shared folders and removable drives.
