Earlier today we spoke about Google announcing the release of their much hyped Chrome OS source code and provided some exclusive Google Chrome OS Screenshots to get an idea on how it looks.

If you consider yourself as a Geek God and want to try out the Chrome OS yourself, you can download Google Chrome OS through torrents. The Chrome OS image from torrents can be run using VirtualBox from Sun.

Download Google Chrome OS Torrent via TPB. GDGT also have uploaded a Google OS build themselves.

Once you are done downloading the torrent/GDGT build, read the step-by-step guide prepared by TechCrunch to install Chrome OS on your PC/Mac/Linux via the VirtualBox.

The default login to Chrome OS is your Google username and password. But my sincere suggestion is to create a dummy username on Google just for testing out the Chrome OS, so that you nullify any risk coming via torrents.

This is a great news for all Android fans and owners. You can now make Voip calls using Skype for Free using Fring App for Android phones. Fring is a popular application that lets anyone make free Skype, Google Talk, MSN, or SIP calls from any phone and now they have launched an app for Android as well. This is the first major VOIP app for Android.

Skype for Android + IM + much more = Fring

Making free Skype calls from a Wi-Fi connection on your handset is a pretty neat feature in itself, but Fring aims to be a universal call and chat coordinator. It works just as expected, over EDGE, 3G, or Wi-Fi.

The app lets users make free calls, live chat, contact availability status, file share and more with friends on fring and several social services including Skype, MSN, GoogleTalk, ICQ, Twitter, Yahoo! and AIM. Centralized from one integrated contact list, fringsters also make calls to regular phone lines via Skype-Out and hundreds of popular SIP services over 3G, GPRS or Wi-Fi internet connection.

Twitter is also integrated, and it looks like the fring app works with any version of Android.

That is when I got this idea of using guest blogging to get the initial set of targeted users.

Advantages of guest blogging

You get the initial set of users who will hopefully like your blog and will take your site viral.
You get the important organic backlinks from authority website which will help it to get out of Google sandbox.

Guest blogging is not panacea

Keep that in mind. There are no free lunches in the world. While guest blogging gets you traffic and links, it takes some of the best articles of yours and puts them on someone else’s blog. Basically in guest blogging you are trading good posts for traffic and link. So trade carefully.

How to get maximum value out of guest blogging

Target blogs that are frequented by your target user base. So in my case, I should focus on blogs about automobiles in general and bikes in particular.
Keep your website ready to go viral.
Make sure to keep 6-7 really good articles ready on your blog. When the users from your guest articles come to your website, they must fall in love with the blog.
Keep your expectations realistic. Guest blogging, contrary to what most blogging gurus will tell you, will not bring in hordes of traffic. You will have to fight for your traffic. Guest blogging is just one of the many weapons that you can use for that fight.

Late last night, Google hosted an event giving insight into its much hyped Google Chrome OS, an overview of the technology and launch plans for its launch next year. Google has also released the open source Chrome OS source code which can be downloaded as well.

As per Sergey Brin, 7 seconds is all it takes for Google OS to start running after a cold boot. Sundar Pichai, vice president of product management at Google, said the OS would boot as fast as turning on a TV, and run even faster than the Chrome browser on Windows. All of the applications will be web apps – nothing will be installed locally. “In Chrome OS, every application is a web application. There are no conventional desktop applications,” Pichai said.

Google just hosted an event giving insight into its much hyped Google Chrome OS, an overview of the technology and launch plans for its launch next year. It has been speculated that the internet giant would release its Chrome OS Code as open-source code and this in fact seems to be the case. The source code for Google Chrome OS is available for download now and is ready to be explored. A Twitter update from Google employee Matt Cutts detailed where you can download the source code.

The first public beta of Microsoft Office 2010 is now available as a free download on Microsoft website. And other then Office, you can also download Visio 2010 beta, SharePoint Server 2010 and Project 2010 beta for your Windows computer.

GPS, WiFi, YouTube Fix After Blackra1n Jailbreak for iPhone 3.1.2

Its been 2 weeks since the teen whiz-kid GeoHot released blacksn0w to unlock iPhone 3.1.2. Blackra1n RC3 was released along with it for those who wanted to jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2.

Most of the people who jailbroke/unlocked their iPhones using blackra1n/blacksn0w had zero problems, while the unfortunate few were left with minor hitches like, unable to access wi-fi, GPS and push notifications failure. Since many of you have been asking for the tutorial, here it is:

WiFi fix

1. On your iPhone home-screen, tap on the “Settings” icon.

2. In the Settings menu, tap on “General“. Scroll to the bottom of the General menu.

3. In the General menu, tap on “Reset“. Then tap “Reset Network Settings“.

4. Reboot your iPhone by holding down the sleep/wake button and sliding to turn off.

Resetting your network setting will fix your WiFi problem temporarily. The problem will come back once you have rebooted your iPhone again. You will have to reset your network settings pretty much every time you reboot your iPhone.

Push Notification Fix (GPS, Youtube)

1. Open Cydia.

2. If Cydia prompts you for updates, install them all.

3. In Cydia, tap on the “Manage” tab at the bottom of the screen.

4. Tap on the “Sources” button.

5. Tap on the “Edit” button in the top right corner of the screen and then tap the “Add” button in the top left corner.

6. Type in http://cydia.iphoneil.net and then tap “Add Source“.

7. Now tap on the “Done” button in the top right corner of the screen.

8. Tap on the “Search” tab on the bottom of the screen and type in “pushfix & youtube“.

9. Select “pushfix & youtube” from the list of search results and then tap “Install” in the top right corner of the screen and then tap “Confirm“.

10. Restart your iPhone. Now go to Settings and enable WiFi again.

11. Reboot you iPhone again. You should now be able to connect to Youtube again without any problems!
