The GeForce GTX 465 is a third card based on GF100 (aka Fermi) architecture after it’s elder siblings, GTX 470 and GTX 480. From the specs, this card can be considered as “stripped-off” version of GTX 470. However, it remains to be seen whether Nvidia will benefit by positioning it against ATI’s 5850, especially as they have kept tad higher price than ATI Radeon HD 5850. So, here are the features and specifications of this card.

So, here are the features and specifications of this card.

Based on 40nm fabrication process

352 shader units

607 MHz graphics clock

802 MHz memory clock

256-bit memory interface

102.6 GB/s memory bandwidth

GDDR5 memory

200W TDP

Apart from these specifications, additional features for this card includes NVIDIA PhysX and CUDA, support for Blu-ray 3D with GPU decoding and Nvidia SLI. Initial reviews put this card in direct competition to ATI’s Radeon HD 5850. But in price/performance ratio, ATI still has an upper hand over this one. Nvidia has recommended titles like Metro 2033 and Just Cause 2 as well as upcoming Mafia 2 and Lost Planet 2 for this card.

In India, SMC International has put the price of Rs. 16,500 for MSI GTX 465. Although it provide an option for charging from USB port, most USB ports on Windows PCs can’t provide enough juice to iPad due to device’s charging specification. Gmail also displays sponsored links aka web clips at top in email accounts. If you are annoyed with these targeted ads popping every now and then in your Gmail account, you can turn them off. Here is a little tip that will help you do this.

To turn off these ads,

Open your Gmail account.

Click on “Settings” at top right corner.

Select “Web Clips” tab.

Uncheck the “Show my web clips above the Inbox” check box there. That’s it. You’ll not show any ads from now on.

This little trick turns off ads displayed at top of the mailbox. However, you will also find ads at the right side of your mail content. Thanks David for pointing this out. This another tip targets those ads. For this trick to work, all you need is a Mozilla Firefox browser and a GreaseMonkey script. Follow these simple steps to remove those annoying ads.

Start Mozilla Firefox and install GreaseMonkey add-on from here if you haven’t already.

Now, install “Gmail Without Ads” GreaseMonkey script from here.

Just activate that script and you are all set to go.

Login to your Gmail account and enjoy the neat look of your mailbox.

You can always restore these settings when you like to display these ads again. But hey, who wants them anyway?

But, while the time of shutdown, you get that mind numbing Windows XP default blue dialog box with those dull icons. I am sure you want to change this part also.

Sure, you can change that dialog box by editing system files shell32.dll and msgina.dll. But this could end up with your system messed up until you know what you are doing. Also other software like WindowBlinds provides skinnable dialog box, but are not free and you have to rely on the skin that author has created. So, here is the cool free utility that will do this work for you, Shedko sShutdown (Skinned Shutdown).

This utility intercepts a Windows function call of shutdown and applies a selected skin to the shutdown dialog box. You can apply various skins to this dialog. It supports PNG for themes and fully supports transparency. And best of all is you don’t have to patch your system files, its absolutely safe to use.

Upon installing for the first time, start this applictaion from Start Menu or from Desktop. Now select “Run sShutdown at Windows startup”, save and restart your system. After restart you can configure its various options like skin selection etc from tray icon.

Take a look at my screenshot below.

Download Shedko sShutdown from here.

You can download various themes for Shedko sShutdown from here.

If you want to create your own theme, you can grab a Theme editor from here.

That’s why hailed as Clutch. As stated above, it would be mainly targeting masses who love messaging. So, it offers IM-style messaging means users can handle incoming and outgoing messages stream at the same time, thanks to iDEN technology. However, with present flurry of high-end phones, this one seems bit out of place. Just check its features below to get an idea of this.

1.79-inch TFT display with 128 x 160 pixel resolution

64K colors

Bluetooth 1.2 and micro USB connectivity

3 MP camera with 4x zoom

2.5 mm mono audio jack

MIDI, MP3 and WAV ring tones

20 MB internal memory

But the coolest thing about this phone is its weight. It weighs only 96 grams. It provides 205 minutes of talk time and up to 100 hours of standby time. Nothing announced about its release and price officially yet. But it could arrive in Q2 of 2009.

Guess what lacks here? Yes, a full fledged physical keyboard. Not all users are used to virtual touchscreen keyboard. A physical keyboard could have been a worthy addition. But all in all a good phone with nice features. Prices have not been declared yet but expect it to be less.

This new release is faster, safer and backward compatible. With this announcement from Bluetooth SIG, consumer electronics and device manufacturers can now build their application according to Bluetooth 3.0 specification. Here is a synopsis of features this new version is going to provide, taken from SIG press release.

Bluetooth 3.0 gets its speed from the 802.11 radio protocol. The inclusion of the 802.11 Protocol Adaptation Layer (PAL) provides increased throughput of data transfers at the approximate rate of 24 Mbps. In addition, mobile devices including Bluetooth 3.0 will realize increased power savings due to enhanced power control built in.

This newest version of Bluetooth technology builds on the inherent qualities of the current 2.1 EDR version, including Simple Secure Pairing and built-in, automatic security. And as with all versions of the Bluetooth specification, Bluetooth 3.0 HS provides developers, manufacturers and consumers with the benefit of backwards compatibility, enabling both the expansion and enhancement of this technology with every new specification release.

Looks like this new version is primarily aimed at speed improvements, as their application area includes bulk transfer of videos, music and photos between user’s devices and the trusted devices of others, without the need for cables and wires. And what about those devices for general availability? It is expected to see consumer products in the market in 9 to 12 months.
