Toshiba finally leaped into the tablet sphere with its first tablet – Folio 2010 announced in IFA 2010. Encompassing a capacitive multi-touch screen sporting a 1024×600 pixel resolution, this Android powered tablet measures about 10.1-inch across. First to utilize Nvidia’s Tegra 2 system-on-a-chip, Folio 2010 provides enhanced performance and is capable of handling 1080p playback (over a mini HDMI output) whilst maintaining the power draw check.

Features of Folio 2010 includes 16GB internal storage, improved battery life, SD/MMC card reader, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.1 and 3G broadband, a 1.3mp webcam, accelerometer, DLNA compatibility and many pre-installed apps. Pre-installed apps include Opera Mobile web browser, Documents To Go office suite, Evernote, Fring, Adobe Flash 10.1, Toshiba media player, and the ebook reading app FBReader. Disappointingly, Folio 100 does not have access to the Google Android market. Toshiba’s Folio 100 is not yet out in regions like Europe, Middle East, Africa and is expected to be available during the fourth quarter of this year for a price around €399 ($512).

HP, pioneer manufacturer of hardware and software components is now set to collaborate with Hynix, manufacturer of semicondutor devices for developing a technology called memristor. HP and Hynix will team up, co-develop as well as market the Memristor Technology in the form of ReRAM (Resistive Random Access Memory). For those unaware of ReRAM, it is a non-volatile memory better than the current NAND flash technology found in everything from cell phones to SSDs.

Memristors are the resistors with memory capabilities. memristors can not only change resistance when electric current is applied but also remember on/off states without power. With their great performance and sneak built, Memristors might potentially replace logic circuits instead of billions of transistors. Requiring little energy to function, these memristors enact as great storage devices that provide effective computations. As per the information received, Hynix will implement HP’s memristor technology in its R&D plant and it might take 3 years for this technology to be available world wide.

Apple users can now rejoice Abode Flash (though not conventional) as SkyFire has enabled its browser with Flash elements for iPhones. SkyFire Mobile browser application has been submitted to App Store and with its enticing features it is sure to get approved (?).

Implementing flash elements, SkyFire is a Flash-capable browser that does work even with the iPhones which are not Jailbroken. Using back-end compression technology, this browser delivers websites in a bandwidth-friendly way as well as the flash content on the go for the mobile handsets.

According to the experts, Flash rendering in SkyFire is much superior to official Flash Player 10.1 on Motorola Droid and is really worth trying. Supporting HTML 5, SkyFire will hopefully bridge the gap between accessing millions of previously unavailable videos. As per SkyFire, the flash technology implemented will likely be optimistic for iPhones and AT&T would be the most preferrable carrier, as it would limit the network load. Will Apple approve SkyFire like the Opera Mini for iPhone, is something we have to wait and see!

The new Android Tablets from Archos range from PMP like devices having screen sizes of 2.8″ and 3.2″ to larger tablets of 4.7 inches, 7 inches and 10.1 inches. All these models will have Android 2.2 “Froyo” OS. Only some have capacitive touch screens, 1GHz processors and front facing cameras. All tablets have Archos AppsLib and there are no preloaded Google apps or Market access.
