Today, HTC Corporation chief executive officer, Peter Chou, joined Microsoft Corp. chief executive officer, Steve Ballmer and Harvey Chang, chief executive officer of Taiwan Mobile to announce the availability of the highly anticipated HD2 in Europe and Taiwan. HTC and Microsoft also announced that the HD2 would be available in the United States with a major US carrier in early 2010.

Photoshop for Android, Now Available via Adobe

Adobe has just announced that it’ll offer a mobile version of Photoshop for Android phones, allowing users to crop, rotate, flip or change saturation of photos. Photoshop.com Mobile will be doing the magic, by also allowing users to auto-upload and share photos, via their account.

It was about time that Android started getting some love in the major apps department, since we saw Photoshop on the iPhone a couple of weeks ago. In the image below you can notice a few pictures that demo the before/after scenario and some elements of the application’s user interface.
Slowly, but surely, Android is getting the needed respect and number of apps needed to compete with the iPhone and its hugely successful App Store.

Rumors Of A “Worldmode” Verizon Compatible 4G iPhone

The folks at AppleInsider put their hand on an interesting report by OTR Global that claims that the next iPhone would be compatible with CDMA2000 networks, just like the one used by Verizon.
By using a new hybrid chip developed by Qualcom the next iPhone would be able to use GSM/UMTS and CDMA networks. This would allow to have an unique model distributed by both AT&T and Verizon. Such a diversification would actually make a lot of sense as Apple is already doing so in many countries.

Further related rumors claim that the screen could be brought to 2.8 inches down from the actual 3.5 but I don’t believe it would make sense as the entire App Store has been made for a fixed screen size, would it even be possible to automatically resize all apps by a couple percents it doesn’t sound like Apple’s style.
Finally the report claims the Apple and Verizon would already have an agreement for the new iPhone to be distributed within the next year.
This is just rumor and of course we really have no idea of what’s going to happen. It’s also possible to imagine that Apple will just upgrade the current model with a new chip that lets Verizon sell it.

LG Snapdragon Android smartphone coming Q2 2010

LG have announced that they will be offering a Snapdragon-based Android smartphone in Q2 2010. The device – which will initially be available in the Korean market – has not yet been named, and LG are keeping full specifications close to their chest, but according to the company’s VP of electronics, it will be a “more mature” device than the LG GW620 Eve which went on sale in Canada this week.

That might mean that LG squeeze in some mobile digital TV technology, popular in Korea, and which would be unlikely to make it over to European and North American markets. Still, the company is apparently “considering” availability outside of Korea, which potentially sets up an interesting Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 versus LG Android showdown.

While we love USB 2.0, we’re certainly looking forward to USB 3.0, and the news that Asus’s new P7DP55DE-E Premium motherboard will support the upcoming USB 3.0 standard is certainly good news. While the motherboard itself uses Intel’s P55 Express Chipset which doesn’t support USB 3.0, it does include a third-party controller to incorporate 2 SuperSpeed USB ports, along with a cool 10 USB 2.0 ports. If speed is your thing, there are also two 6Gb/s SATA ports and 2 Gigabit Ethernet ports included. This motherboard should be available in a few weeks, and should be retailing for $299.
