Motorola Droid or iPhone 3GS – Who’s No.1?

Motorola Droid, the first phone in Droid series is currently getting all the media attention because of its advanced features. The phone has already been announced by Verizon Wireless and is now available for users. Motorola Droid costs for $199 with 2 years contract with the same company.

Till now, iPhone 3GS is the best phone in the world, but after the announcement of Motorola Droid and its features in recent conference, people have started looking it as a “iPhone killer”. Many smartphones ( including Nokia’s N97 ) have been compared with iPhone and all of them have failed to beat Apple’s iPhone in various categories.

Now everyone is curious about Motorola Droid which is launched with Android 2.0, but still mobile users are thinking whether to go for new Motorola Droid or iPhone 3GS. To simplify this issue, we’ll have to take an overview of both the phones.

As we can see in above comparison, both the phones are giving good competition to each other. Motorola Droid has some new and interesting feature where as iPhone 3GS has features like good application store, processor speed etc.

Motorola Droid or iPhone 3GS?

So, now the question remains same. Which one is better? Well, let’s make it more simpler by focusing on important aspects of these phones.

Operating System: Android OS is a new OS and still need much improvement while iPhone OS is very much familiar and easy to use.

Music and Video: Here, iPhone 3GS has no competition. The built-in iPod of iPhone 3GS is a big plus point as compared to other phones.

Camera: Motorola Droid has 5 megapixels camera and iPhone 3GS has 3 megapixels camera. So, in this case Droid wins the race, but there are many users in this world who rarely use camera feature in daily routine.

Internet Browsing: As I mentioned earlier, Android is a new OS and its browser is also very basic. Although browser has flash feature, it still lacks in navigation features. However, surfing on iPhone is simple and fast.

Firmware Updates: Apple provides regular updates for their devices, which are essential for making the device faster and secure. Android OS updates are not as frequent as iPhone OS.

Application Store: Both the platforms have application stores. Apple’s app store has variety of applications and games which are approved on the basis of quality. However, Android market has very few useful features which can be used on the device.

Now, the picture is clear. Motorola Droid has very attractive features and design, but it’s not better than iPhone. Apple’s iPhone 3GS beats Motorola Droid in vital features and remains on top position.

Conclusion:

Motorola Droid and Android OS have great future. They just need some improvements and minor changes.

Guide to unlock iPhone 3.1.2 Firmware with blacksn0w

Blacksn0w has already been released by GeoHot on November 4th. For those who don’t know anything about blacksn0w, it is an unlocking tool developed by popular iPhone developer GeoHot. It helps iPhone to unlock baseband 05.11.07 on iPhone 3.1.2 firmware.

I have already posted a simple guide to jailbreak the iPhone firmware 3.1.2 using blackra1n RC3. You can use this guide to jailbreak your phone and then use following guide to unlock the latest firmware.

Guide to unlock iPhone 3.1.2 with blacksn0w

1. Follow the iPhone 3.1.2 jailbreaking steps given here and install Cydia from blackra1n app.

2. Open Cydia application.

3. Select Manage and go to Sources.

4. Go to Edit and Add following repo.

Repo: http://blackra1n.com

5. Cydia will install the repo. Open it and install blacksn0w.

6. Restart iPhone.

You’re done. Enjoy your unlocked iPhone.

There is another method to unlock iPhone 3.1.2. Check out the following steps.

Steps to follow:

1. Open blackra1n app.

2. Select ‘sn0w’ to install on your iPhone.

3. That’s it. The sn0w tool will automatically unlock iPhone 3.1.2 firmware.

Guide to jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2 Firmware using blackra1n RC3

GeoHot has released blackra1n RC3 in this week and it helps user jailbreak iPhone 3.1.2 firmware. Good thing about this tool is that it also includes blacksn0w, which is an unlocking tool for 05.11.07 baseband.

Those who have upgraded their iPhones to iPhone 3.1.2 through iTunes can use blacksn0w to unlock the device. Blackra1n RC3 supports iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS as well as all iPod Touches.

Here’s how you can jailbreak iPhone 3.1.3 firmware using blackra1n RC3 -

Requirements:

Latest iTunes software
Blackra1n RC3

Steps to follow:

1. Open the blackra1n application on your desktop and click on “make it ra1n” option.

2. Now iPhone will move to recovery mode.

3. Blackra1n will install all necessary files on your iPhone. Just wait for iPhone to reboot.

4. Start the blackra1n application on your device and install Cydia package.

5. That’s it. Reboot your iPhone once again.

Your iPhone is successfully jailbroken. Have fun.

Blacksn0w is coming on 4th of November

GeoHot has already confirmed the Blacksn0w, unlocking software to unlock baseband 5.11.07 on iPhone 3.1.2 firmware. He is working hard to provide a perfect tool to unlock the current firmware and after lots of efforts, he’s succeeded to run arbitrary code on this baseband.

Today, he has published a video of Blacksn0w running on iPhone, which means that the unlocking tool is in its final stage. In this video, he has also mentioned the release date of Blacksn0w, i.e. 11/04/09. Watch the following video to get an idea about the software.

The above video shows that Blacksn0w is installed using Blackra1n, which was released earlier to jailbreak and unlock iPhone 3.1.2 firmware. GeoHot has once again proved that he’s one of the best jailbreaking and unlocking tool developers in the world.

Use Windows Vista Taskbar in Windows 7

Windows 7 has various new features in it, which are still not familiar to all Windows XP and Windows Vista users. These features are useful for those who have been using Windows 7 since its beta period. New users would require some time to get used to with Windows 7 operating system.

Since long time, Windows users have been using different type of taskbar, which has tab like structure for each opened program. Windows 7 taskbar is a new and improved feature in Microsoft’s operating system, but few people find it difficult to use that feature.

I have found out a simple trick to remove default Windows 7 taskbar and replace it with Windows vista taskbar. Follow the steps given below to change your taskbar.

1. Right click on Windows 7 desktop and select Properties.

2. Go to the taskbar buttons option.

3. Select ‘Never Combine’ from drop down menu.

4. Click Ok to finish the task.

Voila! Now you can use Windows Vista like taskbar in your Windows 7.
