Have you been searching for an honest reviews of some of the best video highlighter apps for iOS (iPad, iPhone, iPod touch)? Well, today is your lucky day. Givit is a free, fun and simple app to quickly make and share great videos on iPhone. Givit’s video-editing capabilities make it easy to share somewhat polished video creations with friends and family. This Social video app pivots into a quick and dirty, on-the-go video editor. Looking for a more private way of sharing videos with friends and family? The iPhone and iPad app, along with the Givit website provides you with a way to easily upload videos from your mobile device and precisely control who sees what. Essentially, the app enables anyone to shoot and mix clips on the move, directly from their iPhone, iPod touch or iPad. And share them with the world, too.

Givit also offers an amazing way to sew together multiple scenes from a single or several videos. Add transitions, effects, titles, photos, and finish with music from Givit or songs in your iDevice. Your final “Highlight” will be a highly entertaining video to share with the world or friends and family. First, you can take whatever video you want using your iDevice. Next, you bring in your clips and find the moments you want, and select what are called “highlights” — which then pop into a small timeline (although the metaphor is not emphasized, as it is more familiar to video editors). I was impressed at how easy it was to find clips and add them to the timeline.

As you can see, at the center of this updated app is the highlighting function. You can either select highlights from video already recorded on your phone, or tap a “highlight” button while shooting live video. And what if a highlight catches you unexpectedly while recording? No problem. A second button lets you retroactively begin capturing the moment even while you’re in live recording mode.

Knowing how Youtube and other video share services (and apps) work, Givit builds privacy right into the upload process. When you share a video, whether it’s one you’re uploading from your camera roll or one that you shoot from within the Givit app, you enter in the email addresses of the specific people whom you want to share with.

Thus, you can control who exactly gets to see your videos. Givit adds a further measure of privacy control by letting you decide whether anyone can re-share your videos but this feature is turned off by default.

Users can also follow each other directly within the app, with the activity stream revealing all recent, well, activity. This includes who’s started following you, and anyone who’s ‘liked’ a specific video, and you see all the videos you’ve ‘liked’ by clicking the little ‘heart’ icon at the bottom.

Givit empowers artists to supercharge their fan bases with the power of video. Anyone can now create an amazing music video or re-imagine their favorite moments right from their iPhone, adding new clips, sound or transitions and share socially however they choose.

Using the app is straightforward, give or take a few minor bugs. But if you’re looking for a quick and dirty fix to edit a video in less than one minute straight from your smartphone, Givit might be your best bet. Plus, a perk for signing up for Givit is that users can use the service as a cloud platform that now hosts up to 5GB of free space (up from 2GB) of private video storage and sharing.

At any rate, the seamless sharing with people you explicitly choose is Givits shining feature. If that’s something you’ve craved, both the app and the service deserve your attention. Givit v3.1.1 is available to download for free now on iTunes App Store.

Technology moves at quite a pace. On the one hand that’s great because we’re living in a time of unprecedented technological advancement. Things are possible now that twenty, ten or even five years ago would have seemed impossible. Just look at what your average Smartphone can do these days compared to what mobile phones (or even PCs) were capable of ten years ago.

What this means on a personal level is that gadgets and consoles which you buy now might not be at the technological cutting edge in a year’s time. That poses the tricky question for the gaming and gadget fans amongst us – how often do I upgrade? Should I always be ahead of the game and getting my hands on the very latest consoles or PC or should I wait for the next edition in the series that will undoubtedly be better? Saving money to upgrade when next upgraded gaming console (Sony PS4 or Microsoft xBox Kinect 720) is released? Deciding how often you should Upgrade your Games Consoles and Gadgets can be tricky.

Tips to Consider While Upgrading Games Consoles and Gadgets

There are so many factors to consider here. Firstly, there is the financial element. Staying up to date is expensive. Shelling out a few hundred pounds once a year might be okay to get the latest consoles, but when you have to do the same for your phone, your smart TV and everything else, it starts to become ridiculous.

You also have to keep in mind the timetable of the companies we’re talking about here. Anyone who decided not to purchase the Playstation 3, thinking there would be a fourth model out a few months later, were sorely disappointed and in for a long wait. Over five years later, we’re still waiting for number four. It’s sure to be good but will it be worth the wait? Do your research and find out what is being released and when. This might give you a better idea of what you really need to get your hands on.

It’s also worth keeping in mind what is going to be supported and for how long. Apple has a reputation for supporting certain products for certain periods, which might impact your decision to upgrade.

There is, however, a way to stay ahead of the game and not get caught out by finances or the timetables of the technology firms themselves. If you’re clever about what you buy and know where to sell it on, you can reduce your expenditure and stay up to date with the latest gadgets and consoles. If you sell your old Nintendo Wii or other games console for example you can recoup some of your money to reinvest. This way you get the best of all possible worlds without spending a fortune. The best part is that you won’t’ ever have to miss out, so by the time you’re friends are talking about the latest game you’ve already completed it.

This article is submitted by Peter Thompson, who is an avid gamer and technology fan who loves to stay on top of what’s new and happening. Thankfully he gets to write about it for a living as well and with his experience selling Wii consoles online he’s in a great position to advise others.

Apples profits have fallen for the first time in around a decade and it is clear why. Smartphone producers such as Samsung have upped their game and are now producing phones that not only rival the market-leading iPhones but surpass them on various features. Samsung release their Galaxy S4 – the latest installment in the Galaxy S range – this month, branding it as “the most sophisticated Galaxy yet”. What leaps out at a long-time iPhone user is the degree of control that’s been built into phones like this, as well as the way the phone seems to have been built for people who live their lives online. Samsung Galaxy S4 will doubtless be popular but is it the best smartphone of the year, and are the new features make it better than Apple iPhone 5?

The handsets traditionally run on the Android system and this one is no different. The 4.2.2 Jelly Bean system, which this phone operates on, is the most advanced Android has launched. In addition to this Samsung have developed the TouchWiz which is their own skin, to allow for complete customization of notifications and menus. This increases the amount of individuality for each phone – something Samsung are keen to promote with their “Super Smartphone” branding message.

The phone is available in two finishes; the ‘Black Mist’ or the ‘White Frost’ and follows a very similar design to its predecessor the S3. To hold, the handset is extremely thin at a mere 7.7mm and weighs 133 grams, which is slightly more than the old model. This is most likely the result of the wide screen display – the S4 boasts a full HD 1920 x 1080 super Amoled 5 inch screen. This allows the phone to produce perfectly crisp images as well as HD videos. The screen is the perfect size between providing functionality as a phone whilst also being large enough to watch videos on without squinting.

Samsung Galaxy S IV (Features)

The iPhone 5 has an eight megapixel camera whereas the Galaxy S4’s camera is thirteen megapixels, providing some high quality snaps to be displayed on its powerful screen. In addition the camera settings on the previous models were rather restrictive – this new model’s interface has been enhanced based upon similar principles to the Galaxy Camera.

Users can now use a range of new modes the best of which are listed below:

- Dual Camera allows the front and rear cameras to work simultaneously
– Best Face & Best Photo takes multiple photos in quick succession to allow users to choose the best one as well as manipulating aspects of the photo to create the best image.
– Sound and Shot allows the user to record up to 9 seconds of audio with each image.
– Live filters adds real time filters and effects before the picture is taken.
– Animation Shot lets the user create a GIF by piecing together a series of images.

Samsung are starting to apply real pressure to iTunes and the app store of Apple. The Samsung Hub now provides an ecosystem for movies, music, TV shows, books and apps. Although the content is not particularly cheap it is very accessible and looks set to perform well.

Overall the S4 is packed full of features – some of which are brilliant and some of which will be a one-time thrill only. It does feel as though Samsung should have spent time with the better half of the features on this phone and less time mass producing features, however this handset is a great showcase of the future of smartphone wars.

The internet has become a valuable resource for both adults and children alike over the years. More and more children these days are going online on a regular basis and through the use of a variety of different internet enabled devices such as smartphones, tablets, netbooks, laptops, and desktop computers.
This is a mobile app for the iPhone, and it enables parents to better control what kids are able to access on their smartphones. This includes using filtering and blocking to restrict access to certain content and using categories to block or allow content.

My Mobile Watchdog

This app can help to enhance peace of mind for parents by providing alerts in relation to potentially inappropriate texts, videos, and photos as well as the use of phone numbers that are not part of the child’s master contact list and are therefore classed as unauthorized.

Gaming activities related to technology have been revolutionized by the iPad, smartphones and mobile devices are always connected to new technologies that characterize them. The user plays actively interacting and producing content that shapes the games by creating new immersive experiences and engaging in it. Such example are the widespread online or browser games as the Ladbroke Games which have become increasingly popular recently.

The tablet has revolutionized the technological game. This was done by integrating technology, functionality and devices such as video games, toys, and electronic media in a single instrument of entertainment, information, education and play. The idea of integrating the game and learning technology is new and at the same time complicated. New for the proposal and complicated for the objectives.

The game has always helped young people to understand the practices and values of a society, but the emergence of new electronic and digital equipment has profoundly transformed our perceptions and uses of the technology that we do in our private lives. The role of technology has become so significant as to affect the outset maturation and the formation of new generations. The formation passes through the exposure and knowledge of the thousands of technology tools and also makes it easier and more fun to play.

An important role in the formation of new generation gaming was played by the so called intelligent games. Games that thanks to the integrated electronics have shown surprising results in time learning ability and have thus adapted to the demands of the player. Today, these capabilities are expressed in terms of technology with sensors, software for voice recognition, adaptive interfaces and sensory, mobility and connectivity tools that have developed the cognitive and social skills of the users.

Today, many games have become interactive, animated, available for download in the form of APP but also on mobile devices as they are able to incorporate the user feedback and change accordingly. Everybody is doing it more and more with a mobile device, a smartphone, a tablet or an iPod.

In the first two years of their life, while attracted by the display of an iPad, children seem to prefer that of a TV. Their brain is probably not developed enough to make them understand the possibilities of a touch screen in a practice game. As they grow older the children become more aware of their abilities to influence events on the screen. It is no coincidence that their use of computers and mobile phones increases. At six years there are no limits in the use of many technological devices available that are suitable for complex logic exercises, interactions and communications with varied socialization.

Following the growth of adolescents and their relationship with technological gadgets, many scholars have noted how digital games have an important function similar to that of other media in determining their mood, their search for new stimuli, the awareness of themselves and their ability to relate to others. The technological game, especially since it is feasible on mobile devices can be played anywhere and with real people.

It can handle massive amounts of content that changes to instantly fit the player. It becomes a powerful learning tool because it puts the player in the position of having to evaluate choices and challenges by taking decisions that are not easy and requires experience in continuing to develop new routes and new thoughts. Finally simulation games encourage visualization, experimentation and creativity generating forms of informal learning constants as you learn from mistakes, experimentation and comparison with the others.

Apple is now using 100% Renewable Energy at its Data Centers. Apple released new data recently regarding its carbon footprint worldwide, confirming that the company has achieved 100 percent renewable energy across all its data centers. To achieve this, Apple uses a mix of solar, fuel cells and renewable energy to achieve their goals in clean energy. At the base of the green data center Apple has a series of 10 megawatt fuel cells working on natural gas. This is one of the reasons amongst others that keeps Apple’s data centers in line with other leading datacentre suppliers like Artmotion. Apple recently stated that all of its data centers are powered by renewable energy. The way in which Apple has been able to reach this impressive milestone reflects the complexity of the transition to renewable resources. When fully operational, the green data center will have 20-megawatt solar installation located on 100 acres and will supply 42 million kilowatt hours of renewable energy each year.

Apple’s green data centers show that it has made real progress in its commitment to lead the way to a clean energy future. Apple’s increased level of disclosure about its energy sources helps customers know that their iCloud is powered by clean energy sources, not coal. As it keeps growing the cloud, Apple still has major roadblocks to meeting its 100 per cent clean energy commitment in North Carolina, where renewable energy policies are under siege and electric utility Duke Energy is intent on blocking wind and solar energy from entering the grid.

How Apple’s 100% Green Data Centers Work?

In its annual report Apple has described in detail how their data centers, the centers in charge of Apple’s online services, can claim to operate exclusively with renewable energy. The project consists of the main data center in Maiden, North Carolina, which includes the completion of an expanse of solar panels by 20 megawatts by the end of the year. However, Data centers require the so called basic energy which is a minimum amount of energy to ensure at any time and emergency reserves in the event of failure of the mains supply.

“Our investments are paying off. We’ve already achieved 100 percent renewable energy at all of our data centers, at our facilities in Austin, Elk Grove, Cork, and Munich, and at our Infinite Loop campus in Cupertino,” Apple states.

Fuel Cells and Bio-gas

To obtain these resources Apple has installed a set of 10 megawatt fuel cells, the largest central not associated with an electric company. Bloom Energy’s fuel cells convert natural gas into electricity. Since Apple is buying into biogas credits from another company, it can be argued that data centers operate with renewable sources. Biogas is the gas that is captured from landfills or from animal wastes. So in a sense you could say Apple Data Center does the Fuel Cell Industry a huge favor.

Similarly, Apple is buying renewable energy from markets located in the vicinity of its other data centers, such as wind network in Oregon and California. According to its environmental report the priority is to generate renewable energy on site but where this is not possible the company provides to purchase from other suppliers.

Use of Eco-friendly Technology

Noteworthy is the mix of energy sources provided at the Apple data center in Reno, Nevada. The center makes extensive use of solar energy but Apple also plans to exploit geothermal resources in Nevada which could constitute the basic energy. This combination could lead to a data center car powered by renewable energy.

As the Eco-friendliness of renewable energy has secured the bulk of their attention, it should be noted that Apple has invested approximately the same amount of resources to ensure the best possible energy efficiency of their relays. The complex of Maiden, for example, is equipped with massive tanks of cold water installed to allow the system to reduce the use of chillers during the peak demand and thus reduce the energy consumption of the center. The complex also boasts an impressive management system of ventilation to minimize energy consumption at times when you cannot use natural ventilation. In a data center cooling is usually half of the total energy consumption.

These efforts are a direct response to critics brought forth by Greenpeace last year when the nonprofit accused Apple of using non-renewable energy sources to power its data centers.

In an interview with Bloomberg, the chief financial officer of Apple, Peter Oppenheimer said that these efforts will lead to concepts from which other businesses and communities will benefit.

Many gamers surely remember the PS3’s monstrous $599 price tag, and while the console has had many great games and features, the role out of software and development of features was slow to begin. Currently, there’s no official word on how much gamers are going to have to drop on a brand new PS4 come this fall, but according to Japan’s Asahi News, the price of PlayStation 4 (PS4) might run about $400 USD — which, while more affordable than its predecessor, is still a big investment for even the most avid of gamers.

DId you reach this page while searching for PS4 release date, news and features? As most of us already know, PlayStation 4 is headed for a ‘Holiday 2013′ release date and that is when a lot of console gaming enthusiasts will get to experience its “frictionless and seamless” gaming experience. However, with Sony’s next entry into home game consoles, the PlayStation 4 (PS4), due out by the end of this year, there’s one really big question on everyone’s mind: Will the PlayStation 4 (PS4) be worth the money?

Many gamers surely remember the PS3’s monstrous $599 price tag, and while the console has had many top selling video games and features, the role out of software and development of features was slow to begin. Since there’s no word on a price for the PS4 just yet, the only real way to decide if it’ll be a worthwhile investment is based on what we know the system will have to offer. He’s a quick rundown of what we know so far:

PS4 Release Date

The PS4 release date is “Holiday 2013″ for the USA. That’s the only official detail Sony revealed at the launch in February and it’s unclear which other territories it applies to, if any. However, latest rumors regarding the PS4 release date are that the console will in fact launch globally in 2013, not just in the USA or Japan.

PS4 Hardware

Technically-speaking, Sony hasn’t shown the world too much about the PS4’s hardware, but we do know that these things apply:

- x86 CPU
- Supercharged PC architecture
- enhanced PC GPU
- 8GB RAM

The console itself has not been shown, but based on the information that Sony has released, it’s apparent that the architecture of the console is PC-like, which will make it much easier to develop games for the system.

PS4 Controller

What Sony has shown us in physical form is the PS4 controller. The DuelShock 4 controller, while it is visually a descendent of its predecessors, is a totally new animal—in a good way. The PS4 controller offers a host of features not available in previous iterations, including a “Share” button and a touch pad. The “Share” button is Sony’s way of integrating social media into the new console. One push of the “Share” button and players can upload gameplay footage and more via PS4’s new social interactions feature. The new touch pad allows players to interact with the console in a similar fashion to how the PS Vita works.

PS4 Online Features

There are a few leaps and bounds in terms of online features from the PS3 to the PS4, and some are very, very intriguing. Sony’s gone on record saying that they’ve teamed with Ustream to create a feature that will give players multicasting capabilities. This means that players will be able to schedule a set time for the PS4 to live stream their gameplay to anyone they invite to watch. Another interesting feature that’s been talked about is the integration of cloud-based technology. If successful, cloud tech could potentially allow software from PS1-PS3 to be played on just about any device, which would more than make up for PS4’s lack of backwards compatibility.

Of course, for gamers who plan to be online it’s critical that they make sure the Internet connection will be able to handle the workload. Click here to learn more about wireless internet capabilities for hardcore console as well as PC gamers.

PS4 Pricing Concerns

Xbox 720 may be worth the cost right now in the mind of some, but according to one of the Xbox’s previous chip designers, Nvidia, the PS4 is not even worth the cash right now.Hence, AMD will be hoping that its PS4 business pays off, having recently fallen on hard times. Also, the Xbox 720 feels like it will have Nvidia tech as reports have suggested, which will make for interesting correspondence given the fact that there seems to be some bitter feelings between Nvidia and PS4.

The Verdict

While there are way too many new aspects about the PS4 to talk about here, is fair to say that the new console is probably worth the potential $400 price tag just based on the above mentioned features and specs. Just the idea of the cloud-based backwards compatibility should be enough to sell any potential buyer (since it’ll open up Sony’s entire game library to generations of gamers), but if that’s not enough, a couple of awesome new controller features and vastly upgrade tech specs should win over even the starkest of naysayers. It’s clear that PlayStation 4 will definitely be an improvement on the already-fantastic PS3—and the best part is, we don’t even know the half of it yet. At, potentially, $400, the PS4 is a steal.

There has been a lot of speculations surrounding the genuineness and credibility of Ben Affleck’s movie Argo ever since it picked up the Oscar for Best Picture, a huge achievement for an actor who used to be a teen idol. It was also awarded three BAFTAs for Best Film, Best Editing and Best Director. Despite the hype, some critics were a bit miffed with the film’s apparent bending of the truth and how Affleck seemed to gloss over certain important details of the Iranian hostage crisis depicted in the film.

For instance, the climax of the movie “Argo” takes place at the airport in Tehran. Six Americans, having hidden in Iran for three months, are taking this one chance to get out of a country that’s embroiled in revolution and anger. Their cover is that they’re part of a science-fiction film crew; their guide is Tony Mendez, a C.I.A. operative. Warning – there are spoilers below, so if you haven’t seen the film, don’t read this yet – instead, sell some of your old DVDs at sites like www.musicmagpie.com and go buy Argo!

Is it true to the real-life story?

Firstly, you have to understand that Argo isn’t trying to be a documentary. It’s entertainment (good entertainment, at that) and works primarily as a political thriller about rescuing unfortunate American diplomats from a rather unsavory situation in Iran. The British and Canadian governments have issued statements detailing their displeasure at the changes made to the story in the film. In the film, one of the characters claims that they were ‘turned away’ by the British embassy. This is partly true – the Brits warned them that the Iranian soldiers were en route to look for them there – but in the film, this is made out as if the Brits just shooed them away.

The Canadian government has gripes with the film because it undermines the amount of effort the Canadian ambassador went through to hide them there, instead lauding the CIA (and Hollywood) with being the good guys who masterminded everything.

Does any of this really matter?

Yes and no. Whether it matters or not is disputed. It doesn’t matter if you see it as just a Hollywood thriller that was made purely for entertainment. However, it does matter in the sense that this will be the most widely watched version of the events that transpired.

It also matters because most of the Iranians portrayed in the movie are done so unfairly. Some would argue that the Iranian people are portrayed in a rather worrying light, with implications that might be quite damaging, given relations between the two countries right now.

Should you watch it?

Absolutely. Historical inaccuracies notwithstanding, it’s a solid thriller with some great performances, particularly from Mr Affleck himself. It’s very suspenseful from start to finish (even though you know how it‘s going to end). If anything, it’ll give you an excuse to find out more about the 1979 hostage crisis, and read up about a part of history you didn’t know about before.

However, at the end of the day, sticking closer to the facts might have resulted in an Argo movie that’s less accessible and watchable for your average moviegoer; though, on the hand, also one more thoughtful and even-handed than your average cinematic sermon from Hollywood. The path Affleck took played to his strengths as a storyteller, more so than a different strategy would have. Maybe somewhere down the road, as Affleck continues to gain confidence (not to mention, credibility) as a director, he will strive to break further away from convention than he has so far.

Should your data center be destroyed or become inaccessible, having a fail-safe mechanism that guards and backs up your sensitive data can help you salvage most of it in events of a catastrophic failure. With the entire brain of an organization’s operation on a hard drive (in fact, several hard drives), having a data contingency plan is essential for the security and recovery of lost data. As part of this contingency plan, all electronic data is ideally backed up to alternate electronic media on a daily basis. This information is stored nightly at an alternate campus facility, and, rotated to a third-party storage facility on a weekly basis. Here are some scenarios that can cause in total data loss; be it individual data or data belonging to a multinational organization.

Accidental Deletion: This is the most realistic scenario and whether it’s caused by your own screw up or someone else’s, it can wreak havoc for your data unless you have the proper data back-up plan.
Hard Drive Crash/Virus: I hope you’ve never had to go through the pain of recovering important data from a crashed hard drive, but I have and it’s no fun.
Theft: What happens if someone takes your computer, and that nice looking backup drive that’s attached to it? With data thieves becoming smarter day by day, today, they don’t even need physical access to your computer to steal your data. All they will need is your computer connected to the internet and they can sabotage whatever information they needed.
Fire: Fire spells total loss to pretty much everything in your home; will your data survive?
Water Damage/Flooding: Between water and fire I’m not sure what’s more likely to happen, but around here we get hail and definitely have the potential for flooding

Data Security Contingency Plan

Your company’s data contingency plan should start with securing its data. In modern society all companies maintain critical information on computers. As such, some of the below security tips are a prerequisite prior to storing any data on a hard drive.

1. Identify what sensitive information you have, what you use it for and where it resides. Translation: inventory your company’s potentially sensitive information (e.g., customer credit card information) and document on which computers, servers and laptops it’s stored.

2. Isolate/segregate sensitive data. Keep sensitive information on the fewest number of computers or servers, and be sure to segregate it from the rest of your data and network if possible. “The fewer copies of data you have, the easier it is to protect,” said Jon Heimerl, the director of strategic security for Solutionary, a security services company that helps companies of all sizes design and manage better security programs and detect and prevent security events.

3. Encrypt sensitive data. According to Heimerl, encryption becomes even more important when your data is mobile. “There are many options to encrypt data via applications, databases or via security suites that can run, for instance, on a laptop. If you can encrypt the data, chances are good that, even in the event of a breach, the information will be safe from ultimate compromise. The HITECH Act, for instance, says you must report breaches of unsecured data. Encrypted data is considered secure.”

4. Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) or a similarly secure connection for receiving or transmitting credit card information and other sensitive financial data. Using a secure, encrypted connection such as SSL protects sensitive data while it is in transit across the Internet.

Data Recovery Contingency Plan

The second, if not just as important and critical as data security is the back-up plan to support the recovery of lost data. Because the actions you take upon experiencing a hard drive failure is critical to the recovery and salvaging of your company’s’ data:

DO NOT…

- DO NOT open your hard drive and expose the media!!! There is nothing inside that needs the attention of a common user or do-it-yourselfer. Only a qualified hard drive data recovery engineer in a certified clean room environment should ever open a drive.
- DO NOT try to swap circuit boards on modern drives. There may be firmware/system area conflict issues that may cause major problems.
- DO NOT put your drive in the freezer and then try to spin it up. It is possible that moisture has condensed on the media surfaces. This WILL cause head contact if it has and will destroy the drive.
- DO NOT listen to your friends or continue to look for home remedies on the net such as the one mentioned above, seek professional help if you value the lost data.
- DO NOT continue to power cycle a clicking or non-responsive drive; it’s not going work for you and may make the drive unrecoverable. If it should come “ready” by some chance, the possibility of it loading the OS for you, “just one more time”, is a million to one.
- DO NOT install recovery software on the same drive/partition that you’re lost files are on, you will overwrite them with the installation.
- DO NOT run the recovery CD/DVD furnished with your PC. Most OEM helpdesk techs don’t care about your data; they only want the hardware back on line.

As long as you adhere to the above do not’s, the folks at Salvage data suggest you do the following prior to contacting the tech doctors:

DO…

- DO try to slave your drive into a working system to check for readiness and file system integrity. You may be able to copy your data with no problem if only the OS is corrupt or if there is a hardware issue with the original host computer.
- DO try an undelete demo from the net to see if what you’re looking for is available for recovery, if so, purchase the tool.
- DO seek professional help if you’re not 110% sure of what you’re doing. You can learn basic recovery procedures on an expendable system.
- DO back up your data early and often. It’s not if, it’s when.

IIn this day and age, movie theaters have three things keeping them afloat: the newest movies, a huge screen, and the allure of a “night out” at the movies. The problem is, recent sales data shows that, for more and more customers, that triumvirate just isn’t enough them off of their couch. Hollywood.com statistics show that North American movie theaters counted 533 million patrons this past summer. That’s four percent fewer than last year, and the fewest since 1993. Even more troubling is that American movie theaters only sold 1.3 billion movie tickets domestically this summer. That last sentence may sound comical, but it’s all relative. Those 1.3 billion seasonal tickets are the fewest sold since 1995.

With 3D blockbusters like Avatar scoring megabucks in the theaters, modern home cinema technology has advanced to such a degree that it has now become much easier for a greater number of viewers to replicate the cinematic experience in their own homes. This has occurred thanks largely to great leaps in the development of film technology, as well as increasingly lower costs for the devices needed to install such technology. With a few tips, you can create the perfect movie-viewing experience for yourself and your guests.

A home theater system is an exciting entertainment medium that provides the home cinema user with an immersive viewing and listening experience. Your home theater system can be something as simple as a 42-inch 3D capable TV and a home theater-in-a-box system, or a sophisticated custom-built system with video projector and in-wall speakers. You could have a home theater built around the TV in your bedroom or have a dedicated acoustically perfected room that houses a state of the art HT to fulfill every movie fantasy you’ve ever had. However, there is a lot to consider in-between. With this in mind, we take a look at the three most important pieces of home cinema technology available on the market at the moment, and how they can greatly improve your home cinema experience.

Home Projectors

Most experts agree that anyone who is serious about creating their own home cinema will begin with a projector. There are currently a great number of models on the market, each offering a different level of quality and accompanying price, so choosing the right home theater projector for your needs can be a daunting task. When doing your research, there are a few things to remember in order to ensure your choice matches your needs. Think about technical considerations, such as aspect ratio, resolution and contrast, but don’t forget about practical factors such as installation limitations.

Each technical consideration will have its advantages and disadvantages, so plan exactly what you want from the projector. For instance, a 16:9 aspect ratio may be the best option for modern HD and Blu-ray films, but may not be your best option when it comes to classic films.

Surround Sound Speakers

Surround sound speaker packages are one aspect of home cinema technology that has decreased in price, while also seeing drastic increases in quality. Your home cinema set-up will largely depend on the size of the room you have to work with, so be aware of your limitations before you make a purchase. If you have a relatively small amount of space available, it may be worth looking at something like a soundbar. These will create a wider sound from a single cabinet and have been specifically designed to fit around other devices in your set-up, subsequently saving space.

Alternatively, you may want to go for a complete surround sound speaker system, employing a number of cabinets. If you do, you can either purchase a purpose-built speaker set or explore the theatre-in-a-box option. These packages are usually less expensive, though the quality of the speakers is somewhat diminished. Purpose-built speakers will ensure quality, but at a much higher cost.

Blu-Ray Players

Blu-ray players are now able to offer a lot more than the DVD players of previous generations. Rather than just being a means to play movies, many models are now able to stream content from the internet, act as a hub for other forms of media and connect with USB devices. Ensuring that you own a Blu-ray player which performs a variety of functions is essential when it comes to getting the most for your money. Also, don’t forget that all your old DVDs are still playable, so there’s no need to discard them when you hook up your 3D HD TV to watch a movie next time.
