Yesterday was a day of remains. I spent some time walking through a few of Boston’s old cemeteries. There are a few reasons they are great, for me, while I am not a macabre person, I love some of the designs on the old gravestones. I took some photos around Salem last fall, but I added a few from yesterday’s Boston adventure to Flickr. I left these in color, especially to capture the little bit of moss growing on one.

In addition to the obvious “remains” title here, another reason is for the photo featured in this post. Thursday was St. Patrick’s Day, and in addition to the continued wearing of the green that was throughout the city there was this festive lei attached to a cemetery fence – a pop of color on the stark black.

Snow Can Sometimes Be Your Friend

More snow here on the East Coast. I have been chronicling it a lot on Flickr, but did go out today again with my camera because even staying in the same general area, I thought I might have a different perspective – sun. I was so happy it was out that I wanted to get some photos of the sun and snow.

For this one, I was shooting over a wall that of course had snow on it, so I like seeing some of the snow in the bottom of the frame. But I most like the top left corner, because the sun is there – and I hope to see a lot more of it here.

Of course this wasn’t the only reason I went out today. In addition to sun and snow, Hasty Pudding Theatricals presented its 2011 Woman of the Year, Julianne Moore. In this case, the snow was my friend today because I was able to scale a snowbank across from the New College Theatre and take some photos.

Snowy Friday

First, I know it’s been a long time since I posted, no excuses, just want to say that I am back to posting, and I hope you enjoy. Over the next month or so I will be reworking my Web site and this blog, so keep checking in. Also, you can always check out my Flickr Photostream.

This year, winter is back on the East Coast. It seems like every week we have a storm or two. It is winter, and when I was younger I dreamed of having snowfall like this, so I’m really not in too much of a position to complain. Instead, I have gone out with my camera for two of the storms to capture some images of Cambridge in the snow. Here is an album from the 2010 Blizzard, and here are some from today’s latest snow.

I chose this one as my Photo of the Day because while the statue (which is in front of Harvard’s Hemenway Gym) looks lovely all snow covered, what I really like about this photo is the look of the bricks and snow together, soft and abstract.

Rainy Days and Mondays

After a morning of clouds, this afternoon while there were still heavy clouds, there were breaks of blue sky. Having just recently had a conversation about the ever changing weather, I had to capture some of these clouds. To later prove the point of the weather – it rained.

I am certainly not the first, nor will I be the last, to capture these little ducklings. But while taking a walk through the Public Garden, how could I not stop and snap a few. The other must photograph in the Garden, the swan boats, and yes, I took some photos of them too. You can find it and a few others on my Flickr pages.
