Karthi and Anushka in the next movie?

Karthi who is awaiting the release of two of his movies – Ayirathil Oruvan and Paiyya is said to have signed a new film opposite to Tollywood heartthrob Anushka.

Karthi who is the younger brother of Suriya shot to fame in his debut movie Paruthiveeran with Ameer. After that for the past 2 years he has been working in Selvaraghavan’s Ayirathil Oruvan and now has also finished shooting for the next movie Paiyya.

Now Karthi is busy shooting for Naan Mahan Alla, directed by Vennila Kabadi Kulu fame Susindhran and has Kajal Agarwal acting opposite to him.

Anushka who is acting with Suriya in Singam will be seen with Karthi if the project is confirmed.

If laughter is the best medicine along with mass masala items, then veteran director KS Ravikumar has earned his stripes again with Aadhavan. Add Suriya, who looks sensational in a role that has negative shades and lots of comedy. The actor manages to pump some clean fun and make it the ideal family entertainer for Diwali.

The wafer-thin storyline depends more on Suriya’s star power to cruise through two hours and 45 minutes. Aadhavan (Suriya) is a hired assassin who works in tandem with Ibrahim Rowther (Sayaji Shinde) and his son (Anand Babu) in Kolkata. Justice Subramaniyam (late Malayalam actor Murali), is about to give his final judgment in an organ trade case where hundreds of children died due to the greed of a doctor, Abdul Kulkarni (Rahul Dev).

Kulkarni approaches Rowther with a contract to kill the judge and Aadhavan starts his next mission. But for the first time in his life, the ace assassin misses his mark and Aadhavan, through the help of Bannerji (Vadivel), comes into close contact with the Judge’s large family consisting of his mother (Saroja Devi), niece Tara (Nayanthara) and others. Soon Aadhavan finds out certain dark secrets and also develops a soft corner for Tara. Finally, the hunter turns hunted as the film hurtles towards the climax.

Only problem with Ramesh Kanna’s story is that it does not have a single original bone in its body, and is inspired from various movies. The film moves at a leisurely pace in the first half (92 minutes), depending mainly on Suriya and Vadivel’s bickering. The story does not move forward. The second half is racy (73 minutes), despite a predictable climax. The Kollywood mass hero turns into a one-man fighting machine and saves his loved ones after doing the impossible.

The music of Harris Jayaraj is hummable, though the placement of songs just does not gel with the narration, with Hasili Fisili and Yaeno Yaeno in the second half, which looks alike. The action scenes of Kanal Kannan and Franz Spilhaus are sensational, especially the hit and run chase picturised in Kolkata in the first half. Also, Ganesh’s camerawork has sheen. The special effects job where Suriya is transformed into a 10-year-old look realistic.

It is an out and out Suriya show. The film rides on the magic of the actor, and his zany shenanigans alone makes it worth a watch. Nayanthara looks beautiful and classy, and for a change, her glamour image has not been exploited. She comes across as the girl-next-door. Murali, in his last film, puts up a convincing performance while Saroja Devi as the Paati is okay with her trademark, excessive make-up. Vadivel is a scream and is present throughout the film.

Ranging through a wide field of comedy laced with action, Aadhavan is good fun while it lasts. It’s a roller-coaster ride of pure unadulterated masala.

It has been quite a while since the talk has been on in Bollywood as to who among the leading ladies can be deemed as the ‘Dream Girl’ of Bollywood. Apparently, after the southern beauty Hema Malini there has not been a single person who could nab that title but recently, Hema ji herself came up with the statement that according to her, the green eyed beauty Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is the deserving candidate.

Rathinam is capable making mythological stories to suit the modern trends. From Mahabharatha he churned Dhalapthy. Now he is making the movie Ravanan inspired from Ramayana. This film is being made in Hindi and Tamil simultaneously. In the Tamil version Vikram is donning the role of Raman. Aishwarya is donning the role of Seetha. In Hindi version Abhishek is donning the role of Rama. Now Manirathinam feels that Nayanthara would be suitable do the role of Mandodari, the wife of Ravana.

Suhasini Manirathinam is speaking to Nayanthara with regard to this. But Nayanthara has not given an affirmative reply yet. But it seems that she has told Suhasini,” I am a glamorous actress. My fans expect glamour from me. But there won’t be glamour in your husband’s film. Kalaignar TV launches Kalaignar Asia; introduces fresh shows

The coming few weeks will see Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam backed Kalaignar TV adding one more general entertainment channel (GEC), Kalaignar Asia, to its existing bouquet of four channels, namely Kalaignar TV (GEC), Isai Aruvi (music channel), Seithigal (news channel) and Sirrippoli (comedy channel).

The coming month will also mark the launch of four new shows on the GEC. Confirming these developments to afaqs!, a senior official at Kalaignar TV says, "The coming few days will see the launch of Kalaignar Asia, which will cater to the entertainment demands of the Tamil people in Southeast Asian countries. The channel will be broadcast through THAICOM-5 satellite and will be operated from the Kalaignar TV premises in Chennai. The 24 hour entertainment channel will focus on daily soaps and films for entertainment."

Besides the imminent launch of the new GEC, four fresh shows have been lined up for Kalaignar TV. The shows scheduled to go on air in August are Karuthu Yutham, Poova? Thalaya?, Aval Oru Minsaram and Idhu Rose Neram.

Karuthu Yutham is an hour long offering in the format of a debate. The first episode will be aired on August 2 at 1:30 pm and will see participants debating the emerging nightlife culture in Tamil Nadu, with both men and women frequenting night clubs. The show will also have a panel of counsellors dissecting the social implications of this emerging phenomenon.

Tamil celebrity artists Kushboo and Sripriya will play host in the weekly talk show, titled Poova? Thalaya? (meaning head or tail). The two Tamil movie actors will lock horns on various welfare issues concerning women. They will represent two diverse views on any given topic.

Sharing details about the other projects, the official says, "The daily soap, Aval Oru Minsaram, will be aired from Monday to Thursday. It has been slotted at 9:30 pm. Saturdays will see a new programme, titled Idhu Rose Neram, which is being produced and anchored by a transgender, Rose, who holds a PhD in psychology. The show will see her raise topics of relevance for women."

Interestingly, Idhu Rose Neram claims to have the novelty factor of serving food to all those present on the programme, including the host, participants and the panel of experts. Moreover, experts will closely monitor and study the proceedings on the show and share their observations with individual participants, asking them for feedbacks and their reactions to various issues discussed on the show.

Kalaignar TV plans to complement the new launches with the strong collection of movie titles in its library. The GEC boasts of popular movies such as Sivaji, Kuselan, Billa, Bhima and Varanam.

2000 villagers participate in the climax scene of Vaigai

New faces Bala and Visaka are in the lead roles. As per the story Bala is the son of the Panchayat President and Visaka is the Post Master’s daughter. Love blossoms between the two. But due to the social status they are not able to unite. The climax scene was recently shot in Vandapuli village.
Two thousand villages along with the actors participated in this shooting. L R Sundrapandi has written the story, screenplay and dialogues. He is also directing this film. P P G Kumaran is producing this film. The song Ayiram Thamarai from the film Alaigal Oyvadhillai is being used in this film in the original version itself. Sai Kumar, Kanga Karuppu, Thalaivasal Vijay, Thennavan, Singamuthu and Shyam Sundar are also starring in this film.
Similarly this is the only river which does not converge into sea. Vaigai is the film which is based on this theme. This film is a real incident which took place in a village near Thirumangalam.
