Tablighi Ijtema-A Call to fear Allah at heart

The first phase of Bishwa Ijtema 2013 Dhaka entered second day on Saturday with the delivery of sermons, prayer for exaltation and welfare of the Muslim Ummah amid recitation from the holy Quran and Hadith.

The three-day Ijtema, the largest congregation of Muslims after Hajj, started Friday on the banks of the river Turag in Tongi with the participation of lakhs of devotees from home and abroad defying bitter cold to seek divine blessings of Allah.

Today’s programme started with the sermon by Abdul Wahab of Pakistan after Fazr prayer.

A dowry-free mass wedding programme will be held at the venue of Ijtema, around 20km off the capital, after Zohr prayers Saturday as is traditionally done every year.

The first phase of Ijtema will conclude with Akheri Munajat (final prayers) Sunday while the second phase of the congregation will be held from January 18 to 20.

Tablig Jamaat has been organising the Biswa Ijtema, also called the World Muslims' Congregation, every year since 1946.

People from 32 districts of the country and 8,000 devotees from 85 countries including Pakistan, India, Saudi Arabia, Brunei, USA and Bahrain are participating in the first phase, Tablig Jamaat sources said.

Devotees from the rest of the districts will participate in the second phase of Ijtema.

A multi-layer security system by 12,000 uniformed and plainclothes members of police, Rab and intelligence agencies was in place at the Ijtema ground to ward off any trouble.

Thousands of volunteers are also serving the devotees round the clock.

Though there are restrictions on women's participation in the religious congregation, several hundred women from different districts rented houses adjacent to the Ijtema ground to listen to the sermons.

Free medical camps were set up at the northern part of the Ijtema field to provide immediate medical assistance to the ailing devotees.

As in the last three years, Biswa Ijtema will be held in two phases this year with the Phase-1 formally opened today and ending on Sunday (Jan 11-13), while the Phase-2 to be held at the same venue about a week later on Jan 18-20.

Tens of thousands of Musallis (devotees) converged on the bank of the Turag River at Tongi as the first phase of Biswa Ijtema, the second largest congregation of Muslims after Hajj, begins formally after Fajr prayers today(Friday).

Although the 48th version of Biswa Ijtema formally opened this morning, the biggest gathering of Tabligh Jamaat virtually started with delivering of bayans (religious sermons) by religious scholars after Maghrib prayers on Thursday.

The three-day congregation will include delivering sermons on the fundamental issues of Tabligh, prayers for the spiritual adulation, exaltation and welfare of the Muslim Ummah.

The first phase will conclude with Akheri Munajat (final prayers) before Zohr prayers on Sunday.

Meanwhile, President Zillur Rahman, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and leader of the opposition Khaleda Zia gave separate messages on the eve of Biswa Ijtema, highlighting the importance and sanctity of the holy event.

The Prime Minister is also likely to attend the Akheri Munajat on Sunday.

Meanwhile, State Minister for LGRD and Cooperatives Jahangir Kabir Nanak said that the government has taken all necessary steps needed to smoothly hold the two-phase Biswa Ijtema.

Around 12,000 security personnel from different agencies have been posted to ensure smooth holding of the Ijtema.

Observation towers have been set up to watch public movement while closed circuit televisions and video cameras installed at 18 entrances to the venue.

Besides, plain clothes detectives (DB police) and members of the Special Branch of the police will also be there to ensure that crimes like pick pockets and theft do not occur during the three-day religious gathering.

More than 25,000 devotees from over 100 countries, including China, USA, India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Japan, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and UK will take part in the 48th Ijtema of Bangladesh.

This year (2013) Bishwa Ijtema Bangladesh will take place January 11-13 (Fri-Sun) and January 18-20 (Fri-Sun), 2013 on the banks of the Turag River in Tongi. The main gathering point is about 3 km north of the Hazrat Shah Jalal International Airport. The government expects between three and four million visitors from around the world to attend the Ijtema this year.

The Ijtema leads to major traffic disruptions in Dhaka every year. We expect disruptions at Mohakhali, Kakoli, Nikunja, Natun Bazar (the highway in front of the U.S. Embassy), Khilkhet, Uttara and Tongi. The following roads are expected to be closed to ease traffic congestion from 1800 hrs on January 12 until 1800 hrs on January 13, 2012, as well as 1800 hrs on January 19 until 1800 hrs on January 20, 2013:

Tablighi Bishwa Ijtema, the second largest congregation of the Muslims after hajj, begins on Friday on the bank of the Turag River at Tongi. The first phase of the Ijtema will be held on January 11-13 while the second phase on January 18-20.

Tabligh Jamaat is organizing the 48th Bishwa Ijtema, also called the ‘World Muslims’ Congregation’. The three-day congregation includes delivering bayans (sermons) on the fundamental issues of Tabligh, prayer for the spiritual adulation, exaltation and welfare of the Muslim Ummah.

The first phase congregation will start formally with religious sermons after Maghrib prayers on Thursday and conclude with Akheri Munajat (final prayers) on Sunday. All preparations for smooth holding of the Ijtema have been almost completed with thousands of volunteers working round the clock to prepare the venue on 160 acres of land to accommodate the devotees.

Multi-tier security measures have been taken in and around the venue to avert any unpleasant incident. Around 12,000 security personnel from different agencies will be posted to ensure smooth holding of the Ijtema.

Observation towers have been set up to watch public movement while closed circuit televisions and video cameras installed at 18 entrances to the venue. Besides, helicopters, speedboats and pickup vans will keep on patrolling.

Fire brigade cars and ambulances have been kept ready for any emergency. Over 25,000 devotees from over 100 countries, including China, USA, India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Japan, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and UK are expected to take part in the Ijtema.

This year, Bangladesh Army has built eight floating pontoons to connect the Ijtema venue with the Turag River. Special measures have been taken to ensure uninterrupted supply of electricity during the three-day Ijtema.

Apart from the existing 11 deep tube-wells, the Public Health Engineering Department and Army have taken separate measures to ensure uninterrupted water supply for the devotees. Some 2,834 toilets have been set up around the venue of Tongi Ijtema.

The largest gathering of South African Muslims was in Azaadville, west of Johannesburg, responding to an invite by the Tablighi Jamaat movement.The apolitical and non-controversial approach of the Tabligh Jamat has seen them successfully operate in almost every country of the world where they have called upon Muslims to revive the qualities present in the life of the final messenger, Muhammad (PBUH). In the past two decades the number of people, especially young Muslim males, attracted to the manner in which the Tabligh Jamat operate has swelled in South Africa and around the world.

Every year the group invites Muslims to a three or four day gathering in an open field, called an Ijtima, where large tents are erected to house the congregants. Food, parking and security is also arranged for those who attend and elaborate plans are drawn up months ahead of time and executed by hundreds of people on a voluntary basis.

The thousands who gather listen to talks by senior Islamic scholars who have sacrificed large portions of their life for the establishment of the movement and in so doing, the revitalization of Islam. Their talks focus on the importance of faith in one God and the prophethood of Muhammad (PBUH), prayer, knowledge, service to humanity, sincerity and making an effort towards uplifting goodness.

Groups of Muslim men from the gathering are then called on to volunteer their time to spread the same message to the rest of the Muslim public through out South Africa and the rest of the world. They are constituted into a jamat or group, with an ameer or responsible person, appointed as a leader from amongst them. They are then directed to head out along a predetermined route where they will meet other Muslims and pass on these key Islamic messages. Usually the jamat will travel from town to town taking up residence in the local masjid or mosque. Using this as their base, they will learn the basic tenets of Islam and then move within the local community encouraging other Muslims to all strive out like themselves to learn their religion.

The movement has a long history. It was founded in 1926 by Moulana Muhammad Ilyas Khandlawi in the rural Mewat villages surrounding New Delhi in India. Distressed by the lack of Islamic knowledge and practice amongst the Meos people, the Moulana set out under trying circumstances to invite these villagers to accompany him and start learning Islam once again. His efforts soon spread and his message reached out to Muslims across all social and economic strata.

The movement is viewed by many as one of the greatest tools and possibly the only organisation that can unite the Muslim Ummah because of their policy of steering clear from any controversial issues and politics.

The followers of the group, commonly known as Tablighis, are encouraged to respect and be tolerant with Muslims who differ ideologically as well as with other religious groups. Those who participate in the activities of the Jamaat find it easy to understand as all the teachings are restricted to matters of the Islamic religion about which there are no differences of opinion. It is not uncommon to find followers of the different schools of jurisprudence in one active group or Muslims from different nationalities and cultural backgrounds moving from place to place. Europeans, Africans, Asians, Hanafis, Shafi’ees and even Salafi’s all work together effectively for the upliftment of their faith.

A crowd of 30 000 people is expected to attend the Ijtima in Azaadville this year making it the largest Muslim gathering in South Africa for a single purpose. It will conclude on Monday morning with a mass dua or prayer for the guidance of humankind. Other Ijtimas, like the Biswa Ijtima in Bangladesh see up to 3 million people attending while the Raiwind Ijtima in Pakistan easily attracts a crowd of over 1, 5 million devotees

Mathematical & Numerical miracles of the Quran

About 1400 years ago, a book was written which claimed to be 100% revelation from God to a man who could not read or write. He told his companions to write down the revelations as he received them in a period of 23 years before he passed away. The book is called the "Qur'an" and contains 114 chapters, and each chapter consists of a number of verses ranging from 3 to 286.

Apart from the miraculous characteristics of the Qur'an which we have looked into so far, it also contains what we can term "mathematical miracles." There are many examples of this fascinating Qur'anic aspect. One example of this is the number of repetitions of certain words in the Qur'an. Some related words are surprisingly repeated the same number of times. Below is a list of such words and the number of repetitions in the Qur'an.

The statement of "seven heavens" is repeated seven times. "The creation of the heavens (khalq as-samawat)" is also repeated seven times.
"Day (yawm)" is repeated 365 times in singular form, while its plural and dual forms "days (ayyam and yawmayn)" together are repeated 30 times. The number of repetitions of the word "month" (shahar) is 12.
The number of repetitions of the words "plant" and "tree" is the same: 26
The word "payment or reward" is repeated 117 times, while the expression "forgiveness" (mughfirah), which is one of the basic morals of the Qur'an, is repeated exactly twice that amount, 234 times.
When we count the word "Say," we find it appears 332 times. We arrive at the same figure when we count the phrase "they said."
The number of times the words, "world" (dunya) and "hereafter" (akhira) are repeated is also the same: 115
The word "satan" (shaitan) is used in the Qur'an 88 times, as is the word "angels" (malaika).
The word faith (iman) (without genitive) is repeated 25 times throughout the Qur'an as is also the word infidelity (kufr).
The words "paradise" and "hell" are each repeated 77 times.
The word "zakah" is repeated in the Qur'an 32 times and the number of repetitions of the word "blessing" (barakah) is also 32.
The expression "the righteous" (al-abraar) is used 6 times but "the wicked" (al-fujjaar) is used half as much, i.e., 3 times.
The number of times the words "Summer-hot" and "winter-cold" are repeated is the same: 5.
The words "wine" (khamr) and "intoxication" (saqara) are repeated in the Qur'an the same number of times: 6
The number of appearances of the words "mind" and "light" is the same: 49.
The words "tongue" and "sermon" are both repeated 25 times.
The words "benefit" and "corrupt" both appear 50 times.
"Reward" (ajr) and "action" (fail) are both repeated 107 times.
"Love" (al-mahabbah) and "obedience" (al-ta'ah) also appear the same number of times: 83
The words "refuge" (maseer) and "for ever" (abadan) appear the same number of times in the Qur'an: 28.
The words "disaster" (al-musibah) and "thanks" (al-shukr) appear the same number of times in the Qur'an: 75.
"Sun" (shams) and "light" (nur) both appear 33 times in the Qur'an.
In counting the word "light" only the simple forms of the word were included.
The number of appearances of "right guidance" (al-huda) and "mercy" (al-rahma) is the same: 79
The words "trouble" and "peace" are both repeated 13 times in the Qur'an.
The words "man" and "woman" are also employed equally: 23 times.

Will they not ponder the Qur’an? If it had been from other than Allah, they would have found many inconsistencies in it.

The number of times the words "man" and "woman" are repeated in the Qur'an, 23, is at the same time that of the chromosomes from the egg and sperm in the formation of the human embryo. The total number of human chromosomes is 46; 23 each from the mother and father.
"Treachery" (khiyanah) is repeated 16 times, while the number of repetitions of the word "foul" (khabith) is 16.
"Human being" is used 65 times: the sum of the number of references to the stages of man's creation is the same: i.e.

The word "salawat" appear five times in the Qur'an, and Allah has commanded man to perform the prayer (salat) five times a day.
The word "land" appears 13 times in the Qur'an and the word "sea" 32 times, giving a total of 45 references. If we divide that number by that of the number of references to the land we arrive at the figure 28.888888888889%. The number of total references to land and sea, 45, divided by the number of references to the sea in the Qur'an, 32, is 71.111111111111%. Extraordinarily, these figures represent the exact proportions of land and sea on the Earth today.238

Each Arabic letter has a numerical value (also known as Gematrical or Jummal value). In most pages of this section, we calculate numerical value of Arabic words. The following table show the value that correspond to each Arabic letter:

Mathematical & Numerical miracles of the Quran

Another mathematical miracle of the Qur'an is the manner in which the number 19 is numerologically encoded in verses. This number is stressed in the words of the Qur'an: "There are nineteen in charge of it." (Qur'an, 74:30), and is encoded in various places in the Book. Some examples of this can be listed as follows:

As we have seen, the first five verses consist of 19 words. The " " is a letter, not a word. Likewise,
letters " " are not included in the calculation either.
The first Sura to be revealed, Surat al-'Alaq, consists of 19 verses and 285 (19 x 15) letters.
Surat an-Nasr, the final Sura to be revealed, consists of a total of 19 words.

Furthermore, the first verse of Surat an-Nasr, which speaks of the help of Allah, contains 19 letters.

There are 114 Formulas in the Qur'an or 19 x 6.
A total of 113 Suras in the Qur'an start with the formula. The only Sura not to start with one is the ninth, Surat at-Tawba. Surat an-Naml is the only Sura to have two formulas. One of these is at the beginning and the other in verse 30. Counting from Surat at-Tawba, which does not begin with the formula, Surat an-Naml follows 19 Suras on.

There is a formula at the beginning of the 27th Sura, Surat an-Naml, and in verse 30. There are thus two formulas in the 27th Sura. It is the formula in the 30th verse of the 27th Sura which completes the total of 114 formulas in the Qur'an. When we add together the number of the verse and the number of the Sura, 30 and 27, we find the number 57 (19 x 3).

The total number of Suras from Surat at-Tawba (9) to Surat an-Naml (27) is 342 (9 + 10 + 11 +12 +13 +14 +15 +16 + 17 + 18 + 19 + 20 + 21 + 22 + 23 + 24 + 25 + 26 + 27). That figure is 19 multiplied by 18.

The sum of all the occurrences of the name "Allah" in all the verses whose numbers are multiples of 19 (i.e., verses 19, 38, 57, 76, etc.) is 133, or 19 x 7.
The "abjad" value of the word "wahd" meaning "one" is 19. This word is used with various other words in the Qur'an, such as one door, one variety of food. It is used 19 times together with the name "Allah."

The total of the Sura and verse numbers of the occasions when the word "wahd" appears 19 times is 361: (19 x 19).
The Arabic word "wahdahu," meaning "worship only Allah," appears in the verses 7:70, 39:45, 40:12, 40:84 and 60:4. When these figures are added up without numbers being repeated, the resulting total is 361 (19 x 19).
The number of verses between the first initial letters (Alif, Lam, Mim; Surat al-Baqara 1) and the final initial letters (Nun; Surat al-Qalam 1) is 5,263 (19 x 277).
There are 38 (19 x 2) Suras without initial letters between the first Sura which has initial letters and the last to have them.
The word "Rahman" (All-Merciful) appears 57 (19 x 3) times in the Qur'an.
Thirty different numbers are mentioned in the Qur'an.

The total of these numbers (again without taking repetitions into account) is 162,146. This is 19 x 8,534:

In addition to these thirty numbers, the Qur'an also refers to eight fractions: 1/10, 1/8, 1/6, 1/5, 1/4, 1/3, 1/2 and 2/3. The Qur'an thus contains a total of 38 (19 x 2) different numbers.
The Sura from the beginning to possess 19 verses is Surat al-Infitar. Another feature of this Sura is that its final word is "Allah." At the same time, this is the 19th appearance of the name "Allah" from the end.
The 50th Sura, which begins with the letter Qaf, contains a total of 57 (19 x 3) letters Qaf. There are also 57 letters Qaf in the 42nd Sura with a letter Qaf at the beginning. The 50th Sura contains 45 verses. Added together, these total 95 (19 x 5). There are 53 verses in the 42nd Sura. These again total 95 (42 + 53).

The abjad value of the word "Majeed," used for the Qur'an, in the first verse of Surah Qaf is 57 (19 x 3). As we have stated above, the total number of letters Qaf is also 57.
When we add together the number of times that the letter Qaf appears in the Qur'an, we reach a total of 798 (19 x 42). Forty-two is the number of another Sura with Qaf among its initial letters.
The letter Nun appears at the beginning of only the 68th Sura. The total number of times it appears in that Sura is 133 (19 x 7).
When we add together the number of verses (including the formulas) in Suras the number of which are multiples of 19, the following is noteworthy:

The letters Ya and Sin appear at the beginning of Surah Ya Sin. The letter Sin appears 48 times in Surah Ya Sin and the letter Ya 237 times. The total of these letters is 285 (19 x 15).
Only one Sura, the seventh, begins with the initial letters "Alif, Lam, Mim, Sad." The letter Alif appears in this Sura 2,529 times, the letter Lam 1,530 times, the letter Mim 1,164 times and the letter Sad 97 times. These four letters thus appear a total of 2,529 + 1,530 + 1,164 + 97 times, or 5,320 (19 x 280) times.
The letters Alif, Lam and Mim are the most frequently used letters in Arabic. They appear together at the beginning of six Suras: numbers 2, 3, 29, 30, 31 and 32. Preparation for the Tongi Ijtima 2013

Bishwa Ijtema 2013 Bangaldesh is going to be held from January 11. So all the authorities concerned have been asked to complete the necessary activities for taming the final preparation of Bishwa Ijtema by 6th January. They were also asked to inform the government about the progress of the preparation by 5th January. Bishwa Ijtema held in Tongi near Dhaka city- Watch The Map.

The committee also has to submit final report regarding the Ijtema preparation by January 7. The committee was directed to complete all the necessary preparation of the Ijtema before the meeting of Home Ministry on January 6. Sources said government and Ijtema committee have been working jointly for a successful Ijtema this year.

Contacted, Gazipur Police Super Abdul Baten PPM told that a programme of home ministry will be held on January 6 to discuss overall preparation of the Biswa Ijtma. Home Minister Mohiuddin Khan Alamgir, State Minister for Home Advocate Shamsul Haque Tuku, and local MPs, among others, will attend the programme. The first-phase of world famous Biswa Ijtema will begin on January 11 and it will end on January 20 in two stages.
