A train crosses the bridge over the river Waal and enters Nijmegen, as seen from a temporary built tower. At the time it was an unique way to view the city and it's surroundings. [The tower is taken down now. But it's structure is still visible in google maps.]

This building was used to route electricity to some farmhouses in the past. It was build higher than usual because of annual flooding of this area. Nowadays the building is no longer connected to the power network, and dikes protect this land from flooding. The building is considered a monument now.

This is the "Belvédère" restaurant. It's in a historical building wich is built near the old defensive walls. The spot is probably chosen because it's overlooking a big part of the river.

This is low-land [like almost all the land that makes the Netherlands]. Long periods of rain will cause the soil to suck up all moisture untill it can hold no more. These small flooded areas are a result of this… april 2006.
