Hi all,

I had planned a great SWUG for this month, but unfortunately due to the embargo on Office 2010 presentations (that provide a heap of detail) until after the official launch in New York this Wednesday, I haven’t been able to get a good meeting together, BUT I have come up with an alternative! (along with some help from others). With the launch of Office 2010 in New York on Wednesday, there are a number of events happening in Australia to replicate this. Once of these events in the Office 2010 launch in Sydney, this Thursday 13th May. As they are covering a lot of the information I wanted covered for SWUG I am encouraging you all to come along to the Sydney SharePoint User Group on Thursday 13th May to learn about Office 2010. The details for the User Group is:

Date: Thursday 13th May 2010

Time: 5:30pm

Venue: Microsoft Australia – 1 Epping Road, Sydney

Website

Registration site

PS. They’ll be giving away an Xbox 360 and I want to see one of you win it!

6:30pm – Microsoft gets Mobility with Windows Phone 7 Series

A couple of weeks ago Microsoft announced their latest offering in the mobility space. Not to be confused with its lagging ancestors, Windows Phone 7 series is a dramatic departure from the “PC in your pocket” goal of the past. Not only has the user experience been completely revamped, including a new Start area with Tiles, Hubs, Panoramic views and application bar, there is also a brand new developer experience. Actually if you’re already an Silverlight or XNA developer you’ll be at home with the tools and technologies that can be used for building Windows Phone 7. In this session we’ll look at the new user experience, discuss some of the design guidelines of the new platform and look into the developer experience.

Speaker: Nick Randolph
