Regular Wednesday afternoon access to the course now available

The Sydney Disc Golf Club has negotiated regular access to the disc golf course on alternate Wednesday afternoons. Club members will meet this Wednesday 4th November at 3.30pm sharp near the visitors centre at the bottom of the carpark. If you plan to meet us please let us know in advance so we can synchronize access to the course. The security gate will be locked but the club has a security pass so access is quite easy. November League Day Details

Sunday 22nd November 2009

The league day will consist of two rounds of play. Registration will be at 10.15am sharp, tee off shortly after, second round starts at 1pm. Feel free to play either one or both rounds.

As this is a handicapped league day, every player will have a great chance of scoring some disc golf prizes. Players of all abilities are welcome, especially newcomers (there will be discs available to lend on the day).

Fee: $5 for the day and an optional $2 if you would like to enter the ace pool.

Disc Golf Clinic at Parklands Foundation Annual World Picnic Day

Sunday 15th November 2009, 11am – 3pm, Newington Armory

The Parklands Foundation is hosting the annual World Picnic Day at Newington Armory, Sydney Olympic Park home of the Sydney Olympic Park Disc Golf Course.

The event is the official celebration of the Parklands Foundation as the not for profit organisation established to preserve and enhance the parklands at Sydney Olympic Park and an opportunity for the entire community to embrace and enjoy the delights of this diverse 425 hectare parkland area.

The Sydney Disc Golf Club will be holding disc golf clinics throughout the day.

Parklands Foundation’s World Picnic Day is a fun family event that offers activities for the young and old:

• music and dancing
• kite making
• sports workshops
• roving entertainment
• old fashion family picnic games like the three legged race and sack jumping competitions
• Heritage Railway Discovery Tour
• jumping castles, and more

Unfortunately we were unable to resolve all logistics to hold the October league day at Macquarie University so the league day has been cancelled (Sydney Olympic Park is unavailable due to the world masters games).

Instead the Sydney Disc Golf Club will be holding a skills session at Callan Park, Rozelle starting at 10am this Sunday 18^th October. We will have a number of portable baskets on hand and we will be practicing using various skill activities as well as setting up some temporary holes to play. September Handicapped League Day

The first handicapped league day was held on Sunday 20th September, 2009. Congratulations to Luke Williams for winning the first league day. Results are below:

Sydney Olympic Park availability during world masters games

Due to the World Masters Games being held at Sydney Olympic Park in October, the Sydney Olympic Park Disc Golf Course will be closed on the following weekends:

• 10th and 11th October
• 17th and 18th  October

We apologize for any inconvenience that this might cause.

October League Day change of location

As a result of the above closures, we are hoping to hold the October League Day at Macquarie University. The club has received requests to play at Macquarie University and we would love to return there on a semi-regular basis. We are awaiting approval from Macquarie University and further details will be sent out as they come to hand.

Video review is a great way to analyse and improve your game. Recently Martin, Luke and myself recorded a driving session for analysis. The video includes a great reference throw from Luke in slow motion. He has a straight arm on the reach back and the disc trajectory is a straight line from reach back to release.

The league consists of 5 league days with prizes for each day along with prizes for the overall league winners. As this is a handicapped league, every player will have a great chance of scoring some swag. Players of all abilities are welcome, especially newcomers (there will be discs available to lend on the day).

The league day will consist of two rounds of play. Registration will be at 10.15am sharp, tee off shortly after, second round starts at 1pm. Feel free to play either one or both rounds.

Each league day prize pool will consist of cash prizes, golf discs, DVD’s and other disc golf apparel. The prize pool for each league day will be equivalent to 100% of entry fees and will be distributed to the top 30% of place getters based on their two round handicapped scores for that day.

Handicaps will be calculated using up to the player’s last three rounds in this specific league.

At the conclusion of the league the best 4 handicap round scores of each player shall be used to determine overall league winners. Thanks to our sponsors we have some major prizes to award at the end of league. Four rounds is the qualification mark to be eligible for the end of league prizes.

Our disc golf clinic “Come and try disc golf” will be on this Sunday 21st June.

A member of the Sydney Disc Golf Club team will be on hand to lend out discs, guide you with the rules of the game and provide some instruction on throwing techniques. For the more experienced player it’s a great time to meet up with a few golfers and play a friendly round.

There is no charge for the clinics.

There are two sessions:
10am – 11am.
11am – 12 noon for juniors (12-17 years)

The Sydney Disc Golf Club invites you to join us on the 27th and 28th June for the 2009 Sydney Disc Golf Open.

We invite people of all ages, regardless of your skill level or experience to come along and try your luck at the Sydney Olympic Park Disc Golf Course. The 2009 Sydney Disc Golf Open is run by disc golfers, for disc golfers.

Event registration is now open. Please register early to help us with the planning and organisation of the event.

We will be updating the event website as the event draws closer with more information on the course preparations, event times and event sponsors.
