Microsoft is reportedly working on a new version of Office for iPad, as well as one designed specifically for OS X Lion. It's about time. Office is nearly ubiquitous in the corporate world, but every day that Microsoft sits on its thumbs and doesn't invest is another day an iPad user or Mac user will habitually turn to another app to get the job done.

Export the DHCP database from a server that is running Windows NT Server 4.0 or Windows 2000:
Stop the DHCP Server service on the server:
Log on to the source DHCP server by using an account that is a member of the local Administrators group.
Click Start, click Run, type cmd in the Open box, and then click OK.
At the command prompt, type net stop dhcpserver, and then press ENTER. You receive a "The Microsoft DHCP Server service is stopping. The Microsoft DHCP Server service was stopped successfully" message.
Type exit, and then press ENTER.
Compact the DHCP database by using the JetPack utility:
Click Start, click Run, type cmd in the Open box, and then click OK.
At the command prompt, type cd %systemroot%\system32\dhcp, and then press ENTER.
Type jetpack dhcp.mdb temp.mdb, and then press ENTER.
After the database is compacted successfully, type exit, and then press ENTER.
Export the DHCP database by using the DHCP Export Import utility (Dhcpexim.exe). You can obtain this utility from the Windows 2000 Resource Kit Supplement 1. You can also visit the following Microsoft Web site to obtain Dhcpexim.exe:

Install the Dhcpexim.exe utility, and then start the Dhcpexim.exe utility.
At the Welcome to DHCP Export Import tool screen, click Export configuration of the local service to a file, and then click Ok.
In the File name box, type the file name for the exported file, and then click Save. For example, type dhcpdatabase.txt.
Click the scope or scopes that you want to export, click to select the Disable the selected scopes on local machine before export check box, and then click Export.
Click OK.
Disable the DHCP Server service on the server. Disabling the DHCP Server service prevents the service from starting after the database has been transferred. To disable the DHCP Server service:
Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Services.
In the Service list, click Microsoft DHCP Server, click Startup, click Disabled, and then click OK.
If the service is started, click Stop, and then click Yes to confirm the stopping of the service.
Click Close to close the Services dialog box.Important Dhcpexim.exe is required to move the database successfully from a server that is running Windows 2000 or Windows NT 4.0 to a server that is running Windows Server 2003. Netsh commands for DHCP are not available in Windows NT 4.0.Note If only the configuration (not the database) is required, use the following command (instead of Dhcpexim.exe) on the Windows 2000-based server that you want to export from. (Do not use Dhcpexim.exe.)
netsh dhcp dump >C:\dhcp.txtwhere C:\dhcp.txt is the name and path of the export file that you want to use.Note The export option does not exist in the netsh command on Windows 2000 Server. The netsh dhcp server dump and netsh dhcp server import commands are not compatible. Export the DHCP database from a server that is running Microsoft Windows Server 2003:
To move a DHCP database and configuration from a server that is running Windows Server 2003 to another server that is running Windows Server 2003:
Log on to the source DHCP server by using an account that is a member of the local Administrators group.
Click Start, click Run, type cmd in the Open box, and then click OK.
Type netsh dhcp server export C:\dhcp.txt all, and then press ENTER.Note You must have local administrator permissions to export the data.

Install the DHCP server service on the server that is running Windows Server 2003:
To install the DHCP Server service on an existing Windows Server 2003-based computer:
Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add or Remove Programs.
Click Add/Remove Windows Components.
In the Windows Component Wizard, click Networking Services in the Components box, and then click Details.
Click to select the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) check box if it is not already selected, and then click OK.
In the Windows Components Wizard, click Next to install the selected components. Insert the Windows Server 2003 CD into your computer CD drive or DVD drive if you are prompted to do this. Setup copies the DHCP server and tool files to your computer.
When Setup is complete, click Finish.

Import the DHCP database:
Note You may receive an "access denied" message during this procedure if you are not a member of the Backup Operators group. If you receive an "Unable to determine the DHCP server version for server" error message, make sure that the DHCP Server service is running on the server and that the user logged on is a member of the local Administrators group.Important Do not use Dhcpexim.exe to import a DHCP database in Windows Server 2003. Additionally, if the target Windows 2003 server is a member server, and if you plan to promote it to a domain controller, we suggested that you perform the DHCP database migration before promoting it to a domain controller. Although you can migrate the DHCP database to a Windows 2003 domain controller, the migration to a member server will be easier because of the existence of the local administrator account.
Log on as a user who is an explicit member of the local Administrators group. A user account in a group that is a member of the local Administrators group will not work. If a local Administrators account does not exist for the domain controller, restart the computer in Directory Services Restore Mode, and use the administrator account to import the database as described later in this section.
Copy the exported DHCP database file to the local hard disk of the Windows Server 2003-based computer.
Verify that the DHCP service is started on the Windows Server 2003-based computer.
Click Start, click Run, type cmd in the Open box, and then click OK.
At the command prompt, type netsh dhcp server import c:\dhcpdatabase.txt all, and then press ENTER, where c:\dhcpdatabase.txt is the full path and file name of the database file that you copied to the server.Note When you try to export a DHCP database from a Windows 2000 domain controller to a Windows Server 2003 member server of the domain, you may receive the following error message:
Error initializing and reading the service configuration - Access DeniedNote You must have local administrator permissions to import the data.
To resolve this issue, add the Windows Server 2003 DHCP server computer to the DHCP Admins group at the Enterprise level.
If the "access is denied" error message occurs after you add the Windows Server 2003 DCHP server computer to the DHCP Admins group at the Enterprise level that is mentioned in step 4, verify that the user account that is currently used to import belongs to the local Administrators group. After you receive the message that the command completed successfully, quit the command prompt.

Authorize the DHCP server:
Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Administrative Tools, and then click DHCP. Note You must be logged on to the server by using an account that is a member of the Administrators group. In an Active Directory domain, you must be logged on to the server by using an account that is a member of the Enterprise Administrators group.
In the console tree of the DHCP snap-in, expand the new DHCP server. If there is a red arrow in the lower-right corner of the server object, the server has not yet been authorized.
Right-click the server object, and then click Authorize.
After several moments, right-click the server again, and then click Refresh. A green arrow indicates that the DHCP server is authorized.

Indian IT major Infoys bags three-year Microsoft outsourcing deal

India’s Infosys Technologies has bagged a three-year IT outsourcing deal with technology giant Microsoft that covers 104 countries.
Infosys will manage Microsoft''s global internal IT services including helpdesk, desk-side services, IT infrastructure and applications support, reports The Australian.
The value of the deal was not disclosed, but analysts believe it could be worth more than 100 million dollars.
Infosys says it will run Microsoft''s in-house services for applications, devices and databases in 450 locations. It has partnered with Unisys to provide global desk-side support and service desk services.
It''s no secret Microsoft has been on a cost-cutting drive due to dwindling sales in several major divisions. By mid-2010, the software giant is expected to have completed plans to layoff 5000 workers, a move aimed at saving 1.5 billion US dollars annually. It is unclear whether the Infosys deal will lead to more retrenchments. (ANI)

Google Gets Hold Of BumpTop To Take On Apple

Google Monday grabbed a top Canadian startup that initiated a 3D interface technology for Macintosh and Windows PCs.
Called Canada's newest software startup, Toronto-based BumpTop has been buoght by Google for around $30 and $45 million.
But, the financial details of the deal were not disclosed yet
Established just three years back, BumpTop has found touch-screen software, which permits use of multiple fingers simultaneously on a multiple touch screen.
Named as 'desktop workspace,' the software lets users to categorize pics, documents and video recordings much more intuitively. Users can carry out many functions with the help of their fingers, comprising dragging of items into docks, and playing around with pics on desktop. Though Google has not specified how its will make use of this ground-breaking technology, it is sure that it will utilize touch-screen software in its cell phones based on its Android OS.
Since its Android OS is basically geared for touch-screen technology, Google's mobile market approach is directed at taking on Apple's iPhone and iPad, which make use of touch screen technology.
After May 7, BumpTop will no longer sell its software separately.
In a statement, it said, "Today, we have a big announcement to make: we're excited to announce that we've been acquired by Google! This means that BumpTop (for both Windows and Mac) will no longer be available for sale. Additionally, no updates to the products are planned.''

O2 bestows in-contract upgrade for Dell Streak

O2 will start selling the recent tablet from Dell- Streak from today and in addition to this it will proffer an in-contract upgrade on the smartphone, presumably on the smaller 16GB model, for as little as £299.
This news has been corroborated by the recent incident when a woman called up the O2 customer service asking to cancel her contract by reselling as she was not satisfied with her current handset. This was followed by a proposal for instant in-contract upgrade, instead of offering the normal fee. The upgrade offer is yet not cleared whether it applies to both 18 months and 24 months contracts.
Also it is still unsure if this informal deal will actually be materialized in the new contract or not. It was not confirmed if the new customers were offered with the same in-contract upgrade or not.
O2 presently offers Dell's tablet at £25 per month with a free 16GB Streak, 3GB included data and 500MB WiFi included over a period of 24 months. In the meantime it has been laid on tenterhooks if one can make calls on the data only tariffs even on a PAYG basis (or as an emergency handset).

· The recent advancement in the field of browser based market comes from the Bangalore based firm Hidden Reflex who proclaims of launching its own browser "Epic".
Epic is the first Indian made web browser, which is based upon Mozilla platform and offers a plethora of India-centric features.
The company is supposedly a start-up by a U. S. based Engineer Alok Bhardwaj in 2007 and initially started with a group of three members and now has spiraled into quite a bunch of people who deal with two separate unit offerings. The first offering has already come up and the next is due in the process.
The browser comes endowed with a visible range of features which remain stuck to the eyes. It comes with a highly customizable option of browser and at its launch boasted of over 1,500 themes and a number of widgets attached to it. The browser comes with a host of applications on its sidebar such as Twitter, Facebook, and other similar services. The only flaw is one can have only one widget opened per window.
Apart from the regulars it comes with an anti-virus protection, a unique thing for any browser. And not to mention, it supports a long list of Indian languages that features new headlines, TV to live cricket commentary and at the same time has a free word processor, video sidebar and my Computer Browser.

One click-payment features in Android platform: Zong

Android market has got one more addition- the one-click payment mode, this one contributed by the Software maker Zong, as reported by New York Times.
Currently in its beta phase this mode of payment solution has been developed for Android-based smartphones and the trial version is already being tested by selected developers.
CEO of Zong, David Marcus, said that the company is looking out to work with several internet organisations to provide solutions for carrier billing with customer's credit, debit or prepaid cards.
However Google which prior to this had not integrated such solutions in its Android OS, is slowly encouraging companies such as Zong and Boku to create applications that caters to the emerging mobile payment market.
Zong meanwhile stated that soon the Android Marketplace will dominate the mobile market and be flooded with smartphones based on Android.

BlackBerry wins patent battle with Motorola in Britain

BlackBerry maker Research In Motion (RIM) Wednesday won its patent battle in Britain with Motorola when a court in London ruled in favour of the Canadian wireless giant based at Waterloo near here.

In his ruling, Justice Richard Arnold of the London high court said RIM didn't infringe one of Motorola's patents - pertaining to email system - in its two systems. Motorola had moved the US International Trade Commission in New York last month on the same patent which was at dispute in the London court.

The London verdict will have no bearing on the Motorola lawsuit in the US.

In the lawsuit, Motorola had complained that RIM continues to sell products using its patents longer than agreed to - from 2003 to 2007.

Co-headed by Indian-born Sanjay Jha, Motorola cited violations of its proprietary wireless technology related to WiFi access, user interface and power management by RIM.

Motorola said its agreement with RIM to use its patented technology expired in 2007, but the BlackBerry maker made no efforts to seek renewal of the agreement.

Instead, it continued to use its patents in violations of proprietary laws, Motorola said.

"These patented technologies are important to Motorola as they allow for more comprehensive connectivity, a better user experience and lower product costs," said the US telecom giant.

Motorola requested the US trade commission to ban import and sale of infringing products by RIM.

It also sought ban on marketing, advertising, demonstration and warehousing of infringing products in the US.

Jonathan Meyer, senior vice president of intellectual property law at Motorola, said last month: "In light of RIM's continued unlicensed use of Motorola's patents, RIM's use of delay tactics in our current patent litigation, and RIM's refusal to design out Motorola's proprietary technology, Motorola had no choice but to file a complaint with the ITC to halt RIM's continued infringement."

He said: "Motorola will continue to take all necessary steps to protect its R&D and intellectual property, which are critical to the company's business."

Apart from moving the US International Trade Commission in New York where all mobile court cases are currently being filed, Motorola has also filed a lawsuit in a federal court in Texas.

Based at Schaumburg on the outskirts of Chicago, Motorola employs more than 60,000 people around the world.

Jitterbug and Samsung Mobile is involved in an initiative to encourage women to speak up against heart disease. The red color for Jitterbug J or A310 mobile is a part of that initiative.

Jitterbug J in Red also features Health and wellness services and applications. Through the application “Daily Health Tips”, the American Heart Association directly sends heart-healthy tips to the mobile and Live Nurse service connects customers to 24-hour registered nurses offering medical advice and support.

Jitterbug J in Red is an easy-to-use device with simple menu navigation system and instant access to features by using basic yes/no questions. A loud speakerphone with padded ear cup, and a large display of 2.1-inch TFT LCD inside with a 176 x 220 pixel resolution and a smaller 1.07-inch screen with 262K colors on the outside and keypad are other features. The weight of the handset is 4.06 ounces. It also features Bluetooth connectivity.

The two companies have also pledged upto $500,000 based on handset sales in donation for supporting the movement.

The Jitterbug Wellness Call is also launched by the company on CES 2010. Jitterbug wellnessCall is a new service to give personalized motivation and coaching so as to develop customer’s physical and mental health.

Dr. Brian Alman, Ph. D. is the health expert, who helped develop the wellness program. The users will get a four to five minute call twice a week on the time decided by them.

Litl has quickly acted on rumors by launching its first computer, the Webbook. The PC breaks away from the usual netbook market through a unique 12-inch LCD that bends almost completely backwards and turns the system into an easel-like display; the mode is considered ideal for video watching or for sharing content with someone else. To match, the screen uses a high-quality LCD with a 178-degree viewing angle and better colors, and unlike most netbooks carries a dedicated (but unnamed) GPU that can decode H.264 video at up to 720p. The computer runs its own operating system that is both "always on" and which has a very simple, visual interface with channels for Flickr and Shutterfly photos, Facebook updates and Weather Channel forecasts. An optional remote can steer many tasks in the easel view or when the Webbook is linked to a TV through HDMI output. As a result of the custom interface, the system can afford relatively lightweight specs with a 1.6GHz Atom chip, 1GB of RAM and just 2GB of permanent storage. Litl sells its portable today for $699 through its online shop. The remote costs $19.

New releases from Nokia X3 and X6

At Nokia World 2009 were presented two new phone line with the index X (short XpressMusic) - touchscreen smartphone X6 and a slider with an index of X3. Both of them should appear on sale later this year. Nokia X3 main features of the slider - working with the radio without a wired headset, 2.2 inch display with 320x240 resolution, 3-megapixel camera, memory card support up to 16 gigabytes, the possibility of charging from USB (there is a standard 2-mm charger connector) and integration with web services OVI. Expected price is at level 540 (!) And 140 euros for, respectively, the model X6 and X3. Frankly, the price for the X6 looks quite pessimistic, despite its built 32 gigabytes of memory.

Nokla E97 blends LG Versa and concept phone

Resembling the offspring of a Samsung Omnia, the Nokia E97 concept from back in April and Verizon’s LG Versa, this glorious Chinese knock-off is the Nokla E97. A touchscreen handset section with a 2.2-inch display, camera and Bluetooth can be hooked up to a folding QWERTY keyboard section for messaging.
There’s also dual SIM card slots, handwriting recognition, an FM radio and an MP3 player. It seems a shame that the whole phone-section isn’t taken up by a touchscreen, as 2.2-inches is on the pokey side, but we guess budget concerns held it back.
We doubt it has 3G connectivity, either, but that doesn’t stop it being a great design. Best of all, the Nokla E97 is available right now – if you’re willing to fly to China to pick one up – for just 800 yuan ($117).
