For the past eight years, SunniPath has grown and expanded. Last Thursday, on the 19th of August, we held our Shifa Closing Ceremony. Our guest speaker was Dr Abdul Nasser Abu Al-Basal, President of WISE University. Br Zaheer Razack was the MC, and we also had speeches by Dr. Ashraf Muneeb, Br Imran Chowdhury, Shaykh Sohail Hanif and Ustadh Sulayman Shahnawaz.

It was very heartwarming to see our students receive their certificates after all their hard work and dedication to seeking sacred knowledge. Although the past two months flew so quickly, we pray that the knowledge that our students gained will benefit them for an entire lifetime, and beyond. InshaAllah our students will return in the near future!

So I turn to Allah, the High, the Wise, the superbly Merciful, and I pray that He increase me, and all our students, teachers, and staff in light, knowledge, understanding… in Iman. I ask that He make us firm in our adherence to the sunnah of His Beloved (Allah bless him and grant him peace), and that by the tremendousness of this sacred month that He bestow on us the confidence and clarity that only true faith brings forth and that He protect us from everything that displeases Him until we meet Him. And this is easy for Allah, the Mighty, the Wise.

Alhamdulilah, we had our very moving Shifa Information Session in the Dar al-Tawfiq courtyard. Brother Osama Al-Shurafa started off the proceedings with a warm welcome and introduction, Dr Ashraf Muneeb spoke about the scholarly tradition, Shaykh Hamza Karamali described the SunniPath curriculum, and then Brother Zaheer Razack and Brother Imran Chowdhury wrapped it up with suggestions about how to move forward in one’s studies, and Financial Aid.

It was particularly touching to see Shifa students take the microphone and describe to us how much the Shifa Intensive had changed their lives. SubhanAllah, a student described the difference between where he was at the start of the program, to where he is now, as ‘night and day’. Another student said she couldn’t wait to return to her family and ’share the light’ which she had learned from the Shifa. Another student described Jordan as ‘a refuge for many people from many different walks of life’.

We broke our fast at the adhan of Maghrib, and suffice to say, the Shifa Information Session was more than just that – it was a beautiful reminder about the Mercy and Generosity of Allah Most High, who brought these sincere seekers of knowledge to our shores from all corners of the globe, placed them at the hands of scholars, and then changed their lives for the better.

We pray that our students will return next year, and that the Shifa will continue to be a means of positive change for seekers of knowledge for many, many years to come. Ramadan Mubarak!

Dear Students, Volunteers, Supporters, and Friends,

Praise be to the One who has blessed us with another Ramadan, the “month in which the Quran was sent down, a guidance for the people” [Quran 2:185] and the month, as our beloved Prophet peace and blessings be upon him informed us, “of blessing, in which Allah covers you with blessing, for He sends down Mercy, decreases sins, and answers prayers” [Tabarani].

As we begin this month, let each of us make an intention to approach this month with renewed sincerity, repentance, resolution, and commitment to Allah. Our Prophet has taught us to spend our days fasting and our nights praying, reciting the Quran and giving abundant charity. Every act of good we do in this month will have an even greater reward with Allah Most High.

Ramadan is an excellent opportunity to bring about permanent improvement into our lives. We can do this by making a goal to remove a harmful trait from our character or speech, whether it be argumentation, backbiting, making false promises, or resentment against a fellow Muslim, or a sinful matter from our lives. Insha’Allah by the baraka of this month, this effort will result in change that will benefit us in this world and the next.

In short, make this Ramadan a Ramadan to remember. A Ramadan in which we’ve really felt a difference for the better.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all of you a blessed Ramadan. May Allah make this Ramadan a month of increasing nearness to Him, and may He accept all of our fasts and worship. Ameen.

I would also like to thank you for all of your support of SunniPath and our efforts to spread beneficial knowledge throughout the world. Alhamdulillah this is the 7th Ramadan this organization is seeing, and Allah has granted us tremendous increases from year to year. We’re truly blessed and grateful to be a part of doing something to benefit the Ummah of Muhammed, peace and blessings be upon him. Please keep all of us at SunniPath in your duas.

This high status was given to him by the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI). This is the highest certificate given by AAOIFI, the highest authority in the field of Islamic finance. To achieve this, Dr. Ashraf had to pass the CSAA (Certified Sharia Advisor and Auditor) examination. Not only did he pass but he finished second in his class.
