While wealth has come to the cities of Viet Nam, little has come to the countryside. Nobody starves anymore, but the peasants live a hard life. Almost all of them have concrete houses, electricity, televisions, and a motorbike, but life is much harder for them than the city dwellers.

As in most exotic countries, the village market is the center of social life – at least for the women. With no refrigerators, frequent trips are made to the market – often twice a day.

Green fields, white sand, blue cloud, the nature scenes in countryside are beautiful as their origin. Not much change time after time.

The beauty of women dressed in “Ao Dai” always leaves a deep impression on foreign visitors to Vietnam.

Girl students dressed in white long robes take to streets on the way to schools or back home, or gracefully sail on their bikes along streets. Female secretaries in delicate pastels greet you at an office door and older ladies in deep shades of purple, green or blue cut a striking pose at a restaurant dinner. The “Ao Dai” appears to flatter every figure.

Sometimes we called "Ao dai" is "Ao trang", means "white dress" or "white coat". This is pure white. Why call that? Because the white "Ao dai" contain the purest meaning and beauty of all "Ao dai"'s kinds. Really when the VietNamese young girl wears "Ao trang", the surrounding scene starts to become charming.

There're often two choices for VietNamese young lovers when they're going to make an album of love: Indoor (Studio) or outdoor. Ofcourse the outdoor is better but the more nice ones the more it cost. And it's more difficult to do. So making an cute-outdoor wedding albums yourself requires a very true preparing with feeling from heart.

VietNam, the new champion of AFF Suzuki Cup 2008!

(28-12-2008) This is the first time Vietnam has won the AFF Cup championship for decades!

Vietnam won the Asean Football Federation (AFF) Suzuki Cup 2008 on Sunday after holding a 1-1 draw with Thailand in the second leg in Hanoi. The aggregate score was 3-2.

The Thai team trailed Vietnam 2-1 in the first leg on Christmas Eve in Bangkok.

During the second leg, Thailand scored a set-piece goal by Teerasil Dangda during the first half and appeared to take control of most possessions. The game was likely to go to extra time, but Thailand conceded a goal to Vietnamese striker Le Cong Vinh in the final seconds, prompting Vietnam to win the AFF championship.

Le Cong Vinh nodded in a dramatic stoppage-time equaliser as Vietnam were crowned Asean champions for the first time after clinching an aggregate victory over three-time winners Thailand in the AFF Suzuki Cup final in Hanoi.

With the match looking destined for extra-time, Cong Vinh met Nguyen Minh Phuong’s free-kick with a header that looped over goalkeeper Kosin Hathairattanakool to spark wild celebrations from the capacity crowd at My Dinh National Stadium.

The Hanoi-based My Dinh National Stadium exploded in the last minute of the second leg final match of the AFF Suzuki Cup as striker Cong Vinh headed the ball in Thailand ’s goal to draw the game at 1-1, making Vietnam the new champion of Southeast Asia.

With Ao dai, comfort has not been forgotten at the expense of fashion and beauty. The cut allows the wearer freedom of movement and despite covering the whole body, it is cool to wear. Education in VietNam

Children normally start primary education at the age of six. Education at this level lasts for 5 years and is compulsory for all children, which is why Viet Nam, albeit still a developing country, has very high literacy proportion, over 90% on average.

Middle schools teach students from grade 6 to 9. To graduate, they have to pass the Intermediate Graduation Examination presented by the local Department of Education and Training (which was abolished in 2006. This educational level is generalized throughout most of the country, except in very remote provinces, which expect to popularize and standardize middle education fully within the next few years. Intermediate is also a non compulsory schooling form in Vietnam.

Most students manage to pass the IGE. High school, which consists of grades 10, 11 and 12 is standardized in all major urban regions, but is not uniform in rural provinces. At the end of grade 12, all students are required to write a leaving examination held by Province's education service. The examination tests students of 6 subjects including Mathematics, Vietnamese Literature, Foreign Language (mostly English), and other 3 subjects determined by the Educational Board of Viet Nam. The Educational Board of Viet Nam is planning to merge this examination with the university entrance exam in 2009.

University Entrance Examination is very important in Vietnamese students' lives. High school graduates have to take it after the SGE and get high results to be admitted to universities. The pressure on the candidates remains very high despite the measures that have been taken to reduce the heat around these exams, since securing a place in a public university is considered a major step towards a successful career for young people, especially those from rural areas or disadvantaged families.

In the year 2004, it was estimated that nearly 1 million Vietnamese students took the UEE, but on average only 1 out of 5 candidates succeeded. Normally, candidates take 3 exams, each lasts 180 minutes for the fixed group of subjects they choose.

In 1999, the old town Hoi An was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO as a well-preserved example of a Southeast Asian trading port of the 15th to 19th centuries, with buildings that display a unique blend of local and foreign influences.

Today, Hội An is still a small city, but it attracts a fair number of tourists, also being a well-established place on the backpacker trail.

Many visit for the numerous art and craft shops and tailors, who produce made-to-measure clothes for a fraction of the western price.[2] Several Internet cafés, bars and restaurants have opened along the riverfront.

Hoi An is famed for its centuries old Cao lầu noodle, which can only be uniquely served here.

Bui Xuan Phai, the most remarkable Vietnamese Artist.

Bui Xuan Phai (1920-1988) was one of the most remarkable, most charming and most unusual figures of Vietnamese modern art. When he graduated from Frenchcreated Ecole des Beaux Arts d'Indochine in Hanoi (1925-1945), the world art was in its post-war period, one of drastic differentiation, Picasso, Mastisse, Leger already ranked among the classical masters.

Europe gave full blast to the trend of lyrical abstractionism and America to that of expressionist one. All that was taken in by Bui Xuan Phai, by his heart's eye. And be managed to find his own dimension in the strict framework of the society and later, his art, like an underground water spring, spread far and wide and even impregnated alien souls with his sincerity.

Trinh Cong Son is a very famous composer in VietNam. But he also be an painter. He didn't draw a lot. There are all that I can find.

In 1992, Trinh Cong Son visited Montreal city. The color of trees and grass, voice of birds and human attracted him, made him sit in front of the drawing table for hours. With Remy Martin, oil color, pallette and brush, he can roam all beside his image and make it living in the canvas.

There's just something so femenine about the Vietnamese women in their ao dai that perhaps you haven't seen anywhere in any European fashion of any time!

In Vietnamese language 'ao dai' (pronounced 'ao yai') means long dress. In general, it has two main parts: an 'ao dai' (a long dress) and a 'quan dai' (a long pair of white or black silk trousers).

Every ao dai is custom made, accounting for the fit that creates such a flattering look. Traditionally, the color of the Ao Dai for a woman denotes her age or marital status. White means the girl is young and unmarried - early and late teens. For the highschool girls the white symbolizes innocence, naivelty and loveliness.

Once called the Bob Dylan of Vietnam by renowned folk singer Joan Baez, Trinh Cong Son penned more than 600 songs during his long and illustrious career, becoming one of Vietnam's most beloved singer/songwriters in the process.

During the '60s, Son rose to prominence with anti-war songs during the height of the Vietnam War; as a result, he was persecuted by the South Vietnamese government in the late '60s and early '70s. When the war ended, most of Son's family fled the country, but Son bravely decided to stay and spent more than a year in forced labor "re-education camps."

"Bui Xuan Phai was a Vietnamese painter. He is famous for the paintings of Hanoi Old Quarter. The best known of all Vietnamese modern painters, Bui Xuan Phai is respected and admired for both his art and moral character. He epitomizes for the Vietnamese the lone artist suffering for his art: he lost his teaching position at the Hanoi College of Fine Arts in 1957 for supporting a movement for political and cultural freedom and was not allowed to show his work in public until a solo exhibition in 1984.However, he was awarded posthumously Ho Chi Minh prize in 1996, the highest national prize in Vietnam." Due to my bad English, all I could do was just collecting some of his beautiful artworks here. His arts about the HaNoi's old roads (call "Pho" in VietNamese) were very famous so there is, in word, a old road in HaNoi called "Pho Phai".

Since the dawn of Vietnamese literature and music, poets and musicians alike have expound the beauty of the ao dai and the grace and beauty it brings to people who wears it. Nowhere in modern literature does an article of clothing have the power to conjure drama, romance and fate like the ao dai in Vietnamese literature. Symbolically, one can argue that Vietnam is ao dai and ao dai is Vietnam. Although the trends in fashion brought to the traditional ao dai many changes in terms of materials and western influences, the ao dai remains a timeless article of clothing that has the strength to unify people.

It is an elegant, demure, and yet sexy outfit that suits people of all ages. Anthony Grey described the Ao Dai in his novel Saigon as "demure and provocative… women seemed not to walk but to float gently beneath the tamarinds on the evening breeze.". The Ao Dai covers everything but its thin fabric hides almost nothing! That's true, Ao Dai is so charming and so sexy.

Girls dressed in white pick their way through muddy streets going home from school or sail by in a graceful chatter on their bikes. Its body-hugging top flows over wide trousers that brush the floor. Splits in the gown extend well above waist height and make it comfortable and easy to move in. Although virtually the whole body is swathed in soft flowing fabric, these splits give the odd glimpse of a bare midriff, making the outfit very sensual. Rapidly becoming the national costume for ladies, its development is actually very short compared to the country's history." - by Claire Ellis.
