The purpose of the Demonstration Grants for Indian Children program is to provide financial assistance to projects that develop, test, and demonstrate the effectiveness of services and programs to improve the educational opportunities and achievement of preschool, elementary, and secondary Indian students.

General Description:	Absolute Priorities: For FY 2012 and any subsequent year in which we make awards from the list of unfunded applicants from this competition, these priorities are absolute priorities. Under 34 CFR 75.105(c)(3), we consider only applications that meet one or both of the following priorities. These priorities are:Absolute Priority OneSchool readiness projects that provide age-appropriate educational programs and language skills to three- and four-year-old Indian students to prepare them for successful entry into school at the kindergarten school level. Absolute Priority Two College preparatory programs for secondary school students designed to increase competency and skills in challenging subject matters, including math and science, to enable Indian students to transition successfully to postsecondary education.
Financial Description:	Estimated Range of Awards: $100,000 – $300,000.Estimated Average Size of Awards: $240,000.Maximum Award: We will reject any application that proposes a budget exceeding $300,000 for a single budget period of 12 months.

School Improvement Grant (SIG) Cohort 2

The SIG provides funding to help Local Educational Agencies (LEAs) address the needs of schools in improvement, corrective action, and restructuring to improve student achievement. In conjunction with funds reserved under Section 1003(a), SIGs are to be used to leverage change and improve technical assistance under sections 1116 and 1117 of Title I, Part A of the ESEA through LEAs targeting activities towards measurable outcomes as described on this page.

21st Century High School ASSETs

California’s 21st Century Community Learning Centers (CCLC) Program provides funding to create incentives for establishing before-and after-school enrichment programs that partner schools and communities to provide academic and literacy support and safe, constructive alternatives for youth. Each program must consist of three elements: academic assistance, educational enrichment, and family literacy services. Programs must operate during every regular school day and may operate during summer, intersession, or vacation days.

Grants are reviewed by peer evaluators and awarded on a quarterly basis to nonprofit entities and local education agencies that are likely to develop and open high-quality charter schools. The primary focus of the PCSGP is to create charter schools that will provide public school choice to students whose assigned traditional public school is chronically low performing.
