UK Drum and Bass geniuses and friend of Sturban Clothing, Sigma are showing their support us here and giving in only a way Sigma can give, if you have not heard their latest track 'Rudeboy' all over Radio One recently then you must have been in a cave.

An integral part of the Drum and Bass scene, Sigma (aka Cameron Edwards and Joe Lenzie) have rapidly been gaining a reputation for their eclectic style of dance floor beats. Their track 'All Blue' is the most downloaded song of all time on drum and bass arena. They've collaborated with artists such as DJ Fresh, Rusko and remixed Stylo G, Ellie Goulding, Eric Prydz, Groove Armada, Skepta and Sway.

Check out the Sigma podcast no tracklisting with this Sigma podcast so if you recognise anything stick it in a comment all Sigma are saying is it's packed with remixes and dubs.

We have a little giveaway for the Sigma boys also and as always it's shrouded in mystery all we can say is it's a complete one off design that will be exclusive and unique so well worth winning by any Sigma, drum and bass or jungle fan. All you need to do is share or comment on your favorite social network including Facebook, Twitter and Goggle+ and you can enter and gain an entry for each submission and do it everyday plus you can earn 5 EXTRA entries by posting a custom link and for each person that enters using that link you get 5 extra entries so plenty of opportunity to win.

After a long break from releasing his last EP Will Plowman A Future Without’s Co owner returns with four tracks of crafted experimental piano.

Ranging from the grand Steinways of Dartington Collage of Arts to the household piano of Adrian Utley the location and environment were always key in determining the outcome of the original improvisations. Often allowing the sonics and atmosphere of that environment to be as important as the piano itself. The project is based around four piano improvisations in four different locations and uses a variety of recording techniques that were later worked and molded into finished compositions.

Will Plowman’s work is essentially about capturing a certain moment in time and his personal reflection on that moment and space. This then allows the listener to both, reflect upon these captured moments and to reflect on their own personal moments as the tracks get absorbed into a brand new sonic environment.

‘Feel like I've been cleansed by the tranquil tones. Soothing warm piano immersed in the most luscious dusty, scratchy soundscape. This is serious sound healing. Music for airports used to put me to sleep when I was wee boy and this gave me the same feeling. It doesn't sound like it, it just exists in that plane where your body is washed by sound.’ – Chocky

Roots Garden records present a brand new 7” & digital download December 2nd 2013

Josie Wales - “Roll Like Lion” / Richie Phoe - “Dub Like Lion”

Roots Garden's first release from Brighton based producer Richie Phoe featuring the Legendary Dancehall Deejay Josie Wales.

Richie's heavyweight & upfull rub-a-dub styled rhythm track is the perfect backdrop for Josie to get to work on. Flinging down some humorous reality themed lyrics he wastes no time getting to the point “as rough and tough as any man can be there's a woman out there to cool you so don't let your ego fool you...”.

Josie's sophisticated style and delivery expose his credentials as one of Jamaica's most accomplished microphone chatters, his skilfully crafted lyrics designed to get any sound system session jumping.

Richie strips back the rhythm further on the flipside in true rub-a-dub fashion. Unleashing crashing reverbs on the drums and keyboard skanks whilst capturing Josie in his echo chamber!

Josie Wales: Biography

Josie Wales is one of Dancehall's founding fathers, building on the innovative DJ chatting of his mentor U-Roy and creating a highly influential style of his own. Along with Brigadier Jerry and his sound-system partner Charlie Chaplin, Wales was widely regarded as one of the best DJs in Jamaica when Dancehall took over the reggae scene in the early ’80s. His gruff, gravelly voice and half-spoken, half-sung delivery were instantly recognizable, and were copied by many an up-and-coming DJ. Unlike his contemporary Yellowman — perhaps the only DJ of the era who was more popular — Wales pointedly refused to resort to slackness, keeping his lyrics purely conscious and Rastafarian. That meant he grew increasingly unfashionable over the course of the ’80s, but he nonetheless continued to perform regularly, and remained a highly respected pioneer.

Josie Wales was born Joseph Winston Sterling in West Kingston, Jamaica, and took his stage name from the Clint Eastwood Western “The Outlaw Josie Wales”; naturally, “The Outlaw” became a standard nickname for him, along with “The Colonel.” Wales first performed professionally as a DJ

with the Roots Unlimited Sound System in 1977, and made his name as part of U-Roy’s King SturGav Hi-Fi Sound System, where he spent three and a half years in the early ’80s. There he teamed with DJ sparring partner Charlie Chaplin in one of the most potent one-two punches of the era, which in turn made King SturGav arguably the biggest sound system around.

In 1983 Josie released his début album, The Outlaw. The album was produced by Junjo Lawes and proved to be a major hit. More songs followed for Junjo such as ”Bobo Dread” which was included in the clash LP “Two Giants Clash” that he split with Yellowman. In 1984 the self-produced album

“No Way Better Than Yard” was released. A split album with Early B followed on the Sonic Sounds label.

In 1985 Josie Wales left Volcano and moved to King Jammy's label. Some of the hits he recorded for Jammy were “Na Lef Jamaica”, “Ha Fi Say So”, “Right Moves”, “It's Raining” and “Water Come A Mi Eye”. 1986 saw the release of his fourth album, Ruling, Produced by Tristan Palmer.

Josie continued to release songs with King Jammy throughout the 80's and 90s as well as notable releases for other producers such as Fatis Burell and Bobby Digital. Unlike many other veteran Deejays he maintained a consistent presence on the fast changing Jamaican music scene securing his reputation as one of Jamaica's most celebrated and respected Dancehall pioneers.

Richie Phoe: Biography

Hailing from Brighton, UK, Richie Phoe's trademark reggae productions have garnered attention from tastemakers and DJs alike. In addition to accolades from Rob Da Banks' Sunday Best Recordings, Richie was personally commissioned by Rob to remix Max Sedgley's Celebrity. A Jon Kennedy remix for Grand Central soon followed, and yet more support would come as Sinful was included in the esteemed Rob Da Bank And Chris Coco Listen Again compilation.

In 2008 Richie released the critically lauded Eye on the Prize EP, featuring UK Reggae legend Tippa Irie, which gained BBC radio play from Rob Da Bank, Huw Stephens, Mark Lammar and an interview on Steve Lamacq's Radio 2 show. Two tracks from the EP were also used in MTV's Dirty Sanchez show, and Richie has thrilled California's Reggae Rising festival with his sound.

2013 saw the release of Richie's much anticipated début LP “Echo Outernational” on Canada's Balance records Label featuring contributions from a wealth of musicians and vocalists including, Leroy Horns, Dangerman, Tippa Irie and Earl 16. Other recent releases include remixes for critically aclaimed UK Reggae band Resonators and his brand new single for Wha Wha 45's records a dubbed out reworking of Michael Jackson's “Thriller” currently riding high in the UK Reggae charts.

Rihie's first forays into the world of music production began on his Amiga 500, back in the early '90s; by 1999 he'd progressed to an MPC 2000 and began making his own beats, inspired by the likes of De La Soul and D.I.T.C. As his style progressed he started collecting reggae vinyl and began DJing at reggae and hip-hop nights weekly in clubs and bars in Portsmouth. Bringing deep and positive vibes to the dancefloor, Richie has earned the title of Brighton's Lee Scratch Perry.

'The Phoenix EP' a nine track collaboration EP between rapper Multiple Skillz
and producer Reaper On Beatz. This EP displays the range of universal sounds
that both artists have and is something all rap fans should be up on. London
emcee Multiple Skillz is really gearing up to drop a barrage of quality new
material, as well as already recently releasing the superb 'When 2 Worlds Meet'
with producer J Dot Musik. Multiple Skillz feels that the importance of
producers is over looked by the underground rap industry so with that in mind he
wants to highlight their work.

The next installment of the Memory Box Social monthly at the
Horse & Groom features a classic house producer of epic
proportions - the legendary Mark Archer, a man of many rave
monikers including Altern 8, Bizarre Inc,
Nexus 21 and Slo-Moshun.

Mark
Archer started his Production career in 1988 when along with Dean
Meredith, he ventured up to the newly opened Blue Chip Studio's in his hometown
of Stafford. Starting off as a hip hop/sample house group called Rhythm
Mode D, they recorded a few tracks for the studio's own label before
branching out with different styles including acid house and techno amongst
others. Archer was a founder member of Bizarre inc before
starting up a new project under the name Nexus 21 which went on
to release tracks on legendary labels like Network and
R&S as well remixes from Carl Craig,
Mark Kinchen and Kevin Saunderson on
KMS.

Mark was also a founder member of Altern
8 who crashed into the UK charts in 1991 with ‘Infiltrate 202’ and
‘Activ-8 (come with me)’, two chaotic slices of hardcore, the latter reaching
number 3. They were aided in their chart aspirations by the circulation of
fictitious press stories concerning their alleged activities, which included
promoting the decongestant Vicks Vapor Rub, which, it was claimed, heightened
the effects of Ecstasy; and standing as local candidates for the 1993 General
Election.
Their live events were also designed as eye-catching performances,
where the band donned RAF chemical warfare suits and dust masks. They were aided
by their resident dancers and MC MkOne, and in the case of their gig at
Stafford’s Bingley Hall, an actual shaman. His job was to cleanse the venue of
its ‘rock n roll’, prior to performance.

Additional vinyl outings included
the ‘Overload ep’ (1990), ‘Frequency’ (10,000 copies of which were on sale for a
single day only and written solely by Archer), and another top ten hit, ’Evapor
8’, followed by ’Hypnotic St8’, the LP ‘Full on Mask Hysteria’ (number 10 in the
LP charts).

The protagonists long maintained that this was a temporary
diversion from their main project, Nexus 21, and confirmed this
by releasing a ‘final’ Altern 8 single, ‘Everybody’, in June 1993.

Mark
Archer has gone on to form Slo-Moshun, a duo of Archer and
Danny Taurus from Stoke on Trent. They released ‘Bells of New York’, one of the
biggest club hits of early 1994, breaking the main top 30 on the back of its
house/hip hop undulations. However, some of the Altern 8 methodology remained –
this time the scam was to trick everyone into thinking it was a US
import.

Mark has continued to dj throughout his career in various styles but
mainly on the 'Oldskool' scene playing classics from the golden era of 'rave'
1988-1992.

Pulling out the old gems alongside Mark is Memory
Box creator, Robin Ball whose passion and knowledge of
electronic music both old and new inspired him to start the Memory Box moniker.
In 1988, when he was first exposed to the acid house phenomenon, he caught the
DJ bug and has been putting on parties, making records and DJing around the
globe ever since.

Memory Box is an offshoot and an antidote
to Robin’s Socialeyes parties, which focus on forward thinking electronic dance
music at some of London’s best venues.
'Communion' is the third album by London based
instrumental group 52 Commercial Road recorded in Paris between January and May
2013. The album began life as the score for 'Communion' the motion picture by
‘Broke But Making Films’ a revenge thriller from critically acclaimed award
winning Director Greg Hall. Following the completion of the film score, the
music evolved and was embellished to stand as a piece of work with its own
character.

The band teamed up with producer Sam Navel with whom
they had worked extensively on the previous album 'A Wreck Provides an Excellent
Foundation' which was recorded in Eastcote studios, London and released in
November 2010. 'Communion' is constructed from sessions in 4 different studios
and encompasses a variety of techniques and approaches.

52 Commercial Road
have been causing quite a stir on the Post Rock scene for a number of years now.
They’ve gigged extensively in occupied spaces, such as disused car show-rooms,
factories, shops, warehouses, clubs, universities and houses for various social
and political causes as well as the obligatory venue circuit. Recently
completing a very successful US tour they gained a reputation for taking
listeners on immersive and introspective journeys.

Here is the brand new music video from Big Dutty Deeze taken off his latest album ‘Almost Famous’ which is produced by Tricksta. This lyrical onslaught sees Big Deeze Deeze ‘Imagine’ history in a different way. A very clever concept executed in a way on Big Dutty Deeze can do is complimented by a superb visual supplied from UK Hip-Hop’s leading channel Global Faction who previously made films/videos with the likes of Lowkey, Caxton Press, Akala, Triple Darkness, Big Cakes and many more.

2013 has been a massive year for Big Dutty Deeze, a rapper whose work ethic outshines many. Releasing two albums and a mixtape, doing a ten date UK tour as well as sharing stages with the likes of Rodney P, Blak Twang, Phili N Dotz, Iron Braydz, Genesis Elijah, Ty, Reveal, Tony D, Moorish Delta 7 and more. This Wolverhampton rapper is making big waves in the underground, take note, remember the name and get up on real music.
Sturban Clothing on Google+
This new podcast has taken a very long time for me to complete some of
the tracks were super fresh out the box when I started but sometimes
life drags you from one place to another and gives you no time to settle
and do anything. However some killa track from Disclosure, Mount
Kimbie my old personal friends Drumsound and Bassline Smith plus some
artists from my past making new music such as Mick Jones along with
Dreadzone and Peter Hook and The Light formally of Joy Division/ New
Order. All that said and taking into account my dodgy mixing there's
some good music to be had here so give it a listen and make a comment,
try and be positive.
More super fresh music in a glitch stylee with our new friend Bürner

finds the music thru soundcloud keeping it super fresh and original,
artists that are usually trying to get discovered, some are signed to
indiependent labels but you won't hear this stuff on the radio.

Starting from the get-go with deep chords and and a detailed ambiance that moves
and sways as it goes, Adrift by Silent Strangers is an example of different
styles within the realm of electronic music. It ranges from the wonderfully
relaxed and ambient to displays of abrasive noise, old school IDM, interestingly
crafted rhythms that change over time and even hints of an advanced form of
dubstep. At points the album somehow sounds almost tropical, before again
sweeping you away in sharp noise and beat fueled energy.

Silent
Strangers uses a great number of different sounds, capturing the imagination in
different ways. Dans Kalimba in particular seems to take a refreshing break from
the electronic by playing with the sampled, or the seemingly sampled, whichever
the case may be. Imagined finger clicks hold the rhythm for a recurring and
hypnotic ever changing noise like someone playing the engine of an
aeroplane.

Dark electronics and filtered synths sit with a digital
percussion that plays with all the natural and organic qualities of human
drumming. At times, in the background, distant sounds play out quieter melodies,
creating a wonderful second layer that has to be concentrated on, listened out
for, a whole other story of far off intrigue that sits behind the glitchy IDM.
The way all these different components fit together so well, with great
attention to composition, brilliant sound design and a fair few hints of mystery
throughout, with a beautiful ambient opening and a beautiful ambient piece to
close the album, makes this an essential listen

Tracklist
1. A
Forgotten Sun
2. It Sees Through Black
3. Dat.ura
4.
As regular listeners will know Gordon never says a lot about is mixes but he has managed to squeeze this out one or two of the tracks have a "familiar" feel to them, DJ Shadow obviously sampled track two, and I think the Manzu and King Brut track samples ABC, the Quantic, Anita Tijoux track is a cover of Lauren Hill and I have to thank Adam Scrimshire who sorted me out a copy of his latest album because I told him I always put his tracks in mixes and podcasts for others, he didn't have to do that, nice guy!?
Chemical Records, the Bristol-based online retailer known for its deep crates of drum and bass and dubstep, is rumoured to have gone into administration today.

Details are still sketchy and Chemical has not yet released a statement, but London labels No Hats No Hoods and Nurtured Beatz both tweeted the news, urging customers not to buy any more records from the retailer.

The retailer, which operates under the name Chemical (UK) Ltd, is currently still listed as active by Companies House, the official registrar of UK businesses. It can take several weeks for details of a company going into administration to appear on the register, however.

Earlier this month, stencil artist DS painted one of his signature Hello Kitty characters, on an Islington wall along Essex Road next morning it was buffed.

DS Comments - "My reaction to it being removed was a little different than normally. Knowing a piece as been removed or painted over doesn’t bother me, it’s the name of the game in graffiti but this time was a little different as it only lasted eight hours.

"So you can imagine my frustration when coming back I found the council (or private company I’m not sure) starting the process of erasing it from the wall – which I documented.

"Looking through the images I took I saw a great one of the removals man so I wanted to put him up in the same space."

Terrorhythm continues to bring in more fresh music from across the spectrum, this month welcoming The Artwork & Pokes Radio Roadshow, Logan Sama, Stooki Sound, Mojo, DJ Cable and Terrorhythm owner Plastician to the wheels of steel.

Anyone familiar with Artwork and Pokes Rinse FM show will be aware of the on air antics brought every Monday evening - the Artwork and Pokes Radio Road Show plans to transform the radio format into a club environment and is something we're really pleased to be hosting. Alongside Grime veteran and cornerstone of the scene, Logan Sama, we have up and coming UK beats team Stooki Sound throwing down a plethora of hip hop infused bass and beats. Closing out this month's line up are two more heavyweights - Terrorhythm collaborator Mojo, and 3 time DMC champion DJ Cable. Not forgetting Terrorhythm owner and Rinse FM stalwart Plastician. It goes without saying this month we've really outdone ourselves as the plan for world domination continues.

Expect great party vibes among some of the most eclectic blends of sound you'll find at any London event in existence. Anything goes at this one, and we're very excited at the vibes on offer.

Doors open at 10pm and tickets are just £7 in advance plus booking fee. More will be charged on the door and with the capacity of the venue set at 180, we advise tickets to be bought in advance.
Sturban Clothing on Google+
