In this part of the segment we will be publishing some great sites which would be helpful for everyone. This week's site is LAPP-PRO.

What is LAPP?

LAPP which is the abbriviation of Light Art Performance Photography, is a one shot long time bulb exposure Photography, performed additionally by the movement of light.

LAAP originates on a real-time basis directly in front of the camera. Created between opening and closing of the shutter. The images are not at all photoshopped. And there lies the magic of LAPP.

LAPP is decended from light drawing and has been developed to its own art form. LAPP, as the evolution of light drawing, is complemented with additional elements in the form of light figures, colors and light forms to create such masterpiece's of general view.

LAPP-PRO is been maintained by creative light artist's JanLeonardo Wöllert and Jörg Miedza from Bremen, Germany. They have been maintaining the site for the more than 3-years. They have been uploading loads of there creative works there.

Portrait : "Towards Freedom" Using Photoshop

In this tutorial we will be using photo manipulation techniques. This will bring an effect of flame. We will be using simple techniques and tools such as brush tools. Hope you all like this tut.

Requirements

For this tutorial we will be using three images from Stock Exchange. We have used Relay Runner by balessi, Flame 3 by br0 and Fire Flames by huibidos. We have used Photoshop CS3 for this tutorial.

Tutorial

To begin with, we open the image Relay Runner in photoshop. Duplicate the image (Cmd or Ctrl+J). Name it the way you like. Now select the background layer. Set the foreground color of this layer to black and background color to white for this layer. Then hit Alt+Del to change the layer to black.

Now selecting layer1 hit Ctrl+Shift+U to apply desaturate. Now invert the color by pressing Ctrl+I.

Duplicate the layer1. Then go to Filter>Stylize>Find Edges to apply find edges. Press Cmd Ctrl+I to invert the color. Change the blending mode to hard light. Now to give the hard light more contrast press Ctrl+J to duplicate the layer1 and change its blend mode to screen.

Now drag the second image, Flame 3 into the document. Change its blend mode to Screen.

Press Cmd/Ctrl+J to duplicate the layer2. Make layer2 invisible and then we will be working with the duplicate of the layer2. The idea is to use layer2 as a backup.

Now click on the layer2 copy to make it active. Then hit Cmd/Ctrl+T to use the Free Transform tool to rotate and resize the image.

Now to make this image completely adjust to the leg use the Warp tool Edit>Transform>Warp. Place the image as shown below.

Duplicate layer2 again to completely fill up cover up the leg poryion of the image.

Repeat this process as long as both the hands and legs are not filled up.

Now for the hair portion we will be using the image, Fire Flames. Cmd/Ctrl+J to duplicate the layer3. Now hide layer3 and we will be using the copy of the layer3. Adjust the size and rotate it using the Free Transform tool. Warp it to perfectly fit to the hair portion.

Now activate layer3 and bring this layer just above layer2 (let me remind you that layer2 is in hidden state). Apply Free Transform to resize and rotate the image so that the entire body is covered up with the texture. Apply a Gaussian Blur of radius 15px. This will help the image to blend with the layers below.

Now we will be adding a layer mask to layer3. Then using soft round Brush Tool of opacity 50%, we will mask till the fire outside the body just fades away. Set the brush size according to your need.

You might have noticed there are several white line going through the images. To remove it create a new layer just below layer3. Now paint it with black using soft round brush tool. The image is shown below.

Click on the top most layer in the layer panel. We will be adding two adjustment layer which ar Hue/Saturation and Brightness/Contrast respectively. The settings have been given below.

We will give some fire sparks into the image. To create the sparks we will be using Brush Tool. The procedure has been given below.

Don't forget to check on the Smoothing box.

Use the modified brush.Now create a new layer from above and just below the two adjustment layers. Use 50% gray from the swatches pallet.

Thus we have our final image.

Watercolor-Effect Portrait Using Photoshop

In this tutorial we will be creating a digital portrait using photoshop, having a watercolor-effect. Layer styles we be in used largely.

First of all we will create a document of width:480px and height:638px. You can create your own document, its completely upto you.

Open this potrait using photoshop, since it is quite a large image, we will resize it. Keep this image as the background layer.

Create a new layer above the background layer. Then go to Filter>Render>Clouds. Set the foreground color to black and background color to #ffecd1.

Set the blend mode to Saturation and opacity to 50%. Hit Ctrl+E to merge both layers. We will be having something like this...

Hit Cmd,Ctrl+J to duplicate this layer. Now press Shift+Ctrl+U to desaturate the image.

Duplicate this layer (Ctrl+J). Press Ctrl+I to Invert the layer. Set the blend mode to Color Dodge. Then go to Filter>Other>Minimum 2. Double click on this layer panel and set the blending option as shown. Alt+Left Click on the triangle to adjust the levels.

Merge both the layers (Layer1 and Layer1 copy) to bring out this effect.

Select this merged layer and Ctrl+J to duplicate it. Select this duplicate layer and then go to Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur, select the radius to 6. Set the blend mode of this layer to Linear Burn. Then select the background layer and Ctrl+J to duplicate it. Bring it above all the layers and set the color mode to Color.

Now we will mask the background copy layer. Go to Layer>Layer Mask>Reveal All. Fill it with black color. Then click on the image on th left hand side of the background copy. Go to Image>Adjustment>Curve and set the curve as given below.

Now create a new layer and fill it with color #ffecd1. Change the blend mode of this layer to Linear Burn.

Select the background copy layer. Click on the mask. Now with the mask selected, take a brush of 45px softness and 60% opacity, brush the face portion of the portrait. When done select layer1 and change the opacity to 70%.

That's it!! We have our very own watercolor portrait ready.

Creating a Glass-Text Using Illustrator

In this tutorial we will be creating a glass text using illustrator.We will be using masking and gradient color to a very large extent.

To begin with create a document of 1200px width and 900px height. Actually its up to you, how much space you require. If you are creating a logo then the document size would be much smaller.

Now write the text GLASSWORK. I have used the font "Myriad Pro" and font size of 150pt. Do not forget to cancel the stroke color.

Now right click on the text and click Create Outlines. Then again right click on the text and click ungroup. This will make each text to transform individually.

Now we will apply a gradient color to this text.Select the first five letter of the text then go to Window>Gradient(Ctrl+F9). Apply a gradient #EDEDED and #808080 respectively. Give an angle of 90 degree. Select the remaining letters and give it a gradient color.Set its angle to 270 degree. This will give a nice curved gradient between the letters

Now apply a stroke color to the text. Give a stroke of 2pt, keep the miter limit to 4 and align the stroke to outside.Keep the stroke color to white. At this moment you wont be able to see the stroke color as the background is white.When it is done group the entire layer (Ctrl+G).

We will now apply a drop shadow to this text, to do this go to Effect>Stylize>Drop Shadow. On giving the shadow you will notice the stroke just pops up from the text. Keep the mode to normal, opacity to 15%, X Offset to -2px, Y Offset to 1px and blur of 2px.

This is the result which we will be having after the entire above process.

Select the ellipse tool now and cover the above portion of the text. Give the fill color of the text to white and cancel the stroke. After this we will be applying a mask. To apply a mask select the group and copy it(Ctrl+C). Then go to the transparency panel and click on the blank space. Now go to Edit>Paste in Front (Ctrl+F). Then click on the left box of the transparency panel and set the blend mode to screen. We will see a nice masking across the text.

This is what we will be having after giving the text a mask.

After this we will be creating a reflection for this effect.Create a new layer, select group and its path from layer1 and drag the these into layer2. Now goto Object>Transform>Reflect and click horizontal. This will reflect the entire layer2 horizontally. Click shift and down arrow to nudge this text layer just beneath the layer1.

We will now create a mask for the reflected layer.First copy the entire layer after this go to the transparency panel, double click on the blank space, and then paste the layer into it(Ctrl+F). Select the rectangle tool and drag it across the layer. Now go to gradient panel, select the normal white to black gradient. Keep the type to linear and angle to 270 degree. Drag the black part closer to the white side of the gradient until you can see that the text just fades away.

Select the left box of the transparency button and and set its opacity to around 50%. Thus we will be having a nice cool looking glass text effect. You can now set a background as I have created in the beginning.

Create a Gold Text-Effect Using Photoshop

In this tutorial we will be creating a nice looking gold-text usingphotoshop.We will use only Layer Styles, and once our new style is created,we will be able to save the style and apply it wherever we want.

For the background layer we have used pure black and #443501

For the second layer set the foreground color to white and the background color to black. Then go to Filter>Texture>Texturize and keep the details as shown in the figure. And set the blend mode to multiply.

For the text layer the font used here is Bifurk font

The colors for gradient overlay will be #43310d,#f7e2ad,#f7e2ad,#634a2b and #f7e3a8 respectively.

For the stroke colors will be #f4e2b2,#1c0c01,#92783b,#241407,#241407,#92783b,#251807 and #f4e2b2 respectively.

Creating a Glow Letter Using Photoshop

In this tutorial, we will create this effect using very basic Photoshop tools and layering effects. This tutorial is simple enough for a beginner to understand.

The trick in this design is to create the font layers one above another, until you get this nice looking glow effect.

Fonts used in this tutorial : HelveticaNeue fonts(around 20 of them)

Gradient color for the first layer: #464646,#000000

Gradient color for the second layer: I got this from the gradient editor itself, it is named Dark Spectrum

Gradient color for third layer: Simple black to transparent

Same effects lies for the other texts also. Only you have to keep in mind that the fonts are alinged properly.

Creating a Contact Form Using PHP

Contact form are an important part of a website, through which a user can interact with the owner of the site.We will be creating a contact form using PHP, having only a few field to deal with.

Creating a Database

We have kept server side validation. Whenever a user enters his/her details checking is done randomly. If data is inserted correctly it will thow a message "Inserted Successfully".

CREATING A RUSTED TEXT-EFFECT

This is an eye-catching text effect, though rellly simple to create. We’ll be using styles like bevel and emboss , pattern overlays, and combining different techniques to give the text nice rusted metal look. There is no sound in the video since there was a audio problem while screencasting. But I have made it as simple as it can get.
