We’ve had a good batch of incorporations over the last few months and I guess we’re going to attribute that to the fact that people are waking up to springtime and realizing they can do better than what they have at the moment.

Our incorporations are up overall quite a bit and yet we haven’t done any more marketing to see them get there. Apparently people are taking a good look at their situations – working for others and are deciding that it’s time to invest in something greater… themselves. Yourself. You might be one of them reading this right now considering whether you should incorporate and create a small business for yourself.

You know – as far as tax advantages there’s probably nothing better than incorporating yourself and being able to write off expenses for your business. Turning a hobby into a business is a VERY wise move and will likely put another couple thousand dollars in your pocket in saved taxes.

The biggest reason? Businesses do not make a lot of money the first year. Sometimes it’s 2+ years before a business is making enough money that it’s income is higher than it’s expenses (deductions). It’s a great feeling to be able to deduct losses come tax time – let me tell you!

If you’re on the fence and trying to decide whether it’s right for you ask yourself the following questions…

1. Do I want to save money on taxes?

2. Do I know anything – any area I can create a business in that could work?

3. What is holding me back? If it’s your present job – that’s a great consideration but, your present job is probably not 100% secure and you’re probably not the one that will fire you if it comes down to that.

Get out from under your employer as soon as you can. Create your own job and business by incorporating your small business, working at it part-time for a while, and then making the big move by quitting your present employer.
