Stargate Worlds Beta

Official date for the beta of SWO is October 15. This is a big step in getting a game out of development and into the hands of the fans, after which we will probably have much more information about archetypes, races, weapons and everything else.

Closed Beta will begin on 10/15.
The developers here are very excited to start this next stage in their developmental process with you all! Currently, we are working on implementing beta selection criteria and will be sending beta keys to those that we would like to join us! Not all invites will be sent out before the 15th - this will be a gradual process after the date. Just stay tuned on the forums for changes to the beta registration process. Stargate Worlds Archetypes

Archetypes, or more commonly known as classes are somewhat different to those traditionally found in MMORPG's. There will be no specific healer class, as everyone has the ability to be a medic, although some archetypes will be better than others at healing and reviving others.

Opportunity for specialization within classes, and the ability of more than one class to perform certain functions within a group, should lead to more flexibility in grouping. A robust tech tree will make each class far more customizable and replayable.

The classes are:

Archaeologist
Asgard
Goa'uld
Jaffa
Scientist
Soldier
Commando

Until the game is released, this class list and the classes themselves are subject to change. Asgards, Goa’uld and Jaffa are non-humans, while Archaeologist, Commando, Scientist and Soldier are humans.

Each archetype can specialize into one of the three different trees, which will define a particular play style. I should note that the Scientist and Archeologist are non-combat classes, meaning they will excel in solving various puzzles and similar.

Each archetype will have its own starting area, which will teach you how to play it and also give you a rich backstory that comes from 10 seasons of Stargate SG1.

This trailer features a human in ballistic armor, a female Jaffa wearing a Horus guard helmet, and an Asgard with his accompanying drone. The team starts off on Agnos, and travels to a brand new, previously unreleased, world -- Anima Vitrus.
