			<title>Announcing STARFLEET's New Chief of Communications</title>
			<link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/StarfleetNews/~3/s64DtpBHhUw/index.php</link>
<description>Good evening, ladies and gentlemen of STARFLEET,
Tonight the AB held a conference call to have a Confirmation Vote to ratify STARFLEET's new Chief of Communications. Please join me in wishing congratulations to Liz Woolf to her posting as Chief of Communications. Liz has been around in STARFLEET for a while having served as the Awards Director, Chief Financial Officer and, most recently, the Vice-Chief of Communications for STARFLEET.
Congrats, Liz, and welcome back to the EC!

			<title>Open Position: Chief of Communications</title>
			<link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/StarfleetNews/~3/xq2uePirXhk/index.php</link>
<description>STARFLEET is presently taking applications for the position of Chief of Communications, STARFLEET. As per the membership handbook:
"The Chief of Communications (COC) is the fourth in command of STARFLEET and is responsible for the timely publication and distribution of official Fleet communications materials. The COC is also responsible for overseeing the triennial STARFLEET election process for Commander and Vice-Commander of STARFLEET, and usually serves as Election Coordinator. At the discretion of the Commander, STARFLEET, the COC may be responsible for the publication of other Fleet documents or publications. The COC is appointed by the Commander, STARFLEET, and shall report at least once per month to them. The Chief of Communications shall be at least 23 years old."
This position is a management role in STARFLEET. While it would help to have an understanding of newsletter production, we are gearing this role to be much more of a management position to work with and organize people, and ensure that the CQ moves efficiently through the production phases for both the PRINT and ONLINE versions of The Communiqué. The successful candidate will also be able to work with our printing and mailing vendor to ensure that the CQ is printed and mailed in a timely manner.
Additionally, as the membership handbook notes, the Chief of Communications is also responsible for overseeing the upcoming election. This may be done in coordination with additional staff members, but will require interaction and coordination with the Inspector General, STARFLEET.
The Chief of Communications is also the Chief Moderator of the SFI-L, TenForward-L and SFI-Announce-L lists, and is required to participate in monthly EC Conference Calls and to vote on promotions and awards.
Anyone who is interested in serving as the Chief of Communications should privately send their personal and STARFLEET resumes to Commander, STARFLEET Dave Blaser at cs@sfi.org (mailto:cs@sfi.org) by April 21st, 2013.&lt;img src="http://feeds.feedburner.com/~r/StarfleetNews/~4/xq2uePirXhk" height="1" width="1"/&gt;</description>
