<description>To: John Roberts &amp; the Seventeenth Fleet
From: STARFLEET Headquarters - Office of the Commander, STARFLEET
Re: Re-Appointment of Region 17 Regional Coordinator

As of February 5th, 2012, I have received word from the Inspector General's Office that, in the matter of the Region 17 Regional Coordinator Election, Lieutenant General John Roberts has received a majority of the nominations cast and has met the eligibility requirements to continue to serve as the Regional Coordinator.

Here is the official verbiage from the Inspector General's Office:

"It is my duty, and pleasure, to announce that the Region 17 Coordinator election has concluded, with LGEN John Roberts, based on the poling of the chapters of Region 17, winning in the nomination phase.  LGEN Roberts is hereby ordered to retain his command of Starbase 17, and the 17th Fleet.  LGEN Roberts shall serve a 2 year term, ending on March 1, 2014.

May God have mercy on his soul."

So, in accordance with STARFLEET rules, Lieutenant General John Roberts is now re-appointed to the position of Regional Coordinator of Region 17.

Lieutenant General Roberts, you are to continue in command of Starbase 17 and the Seventeenth Fleet. Also, the USS Anasazi is authorized to continue to serve as the Flagship of Region 17.

I look forward to your continued participation on the Admiralty Board as the representative of STARFLEET Region 17.

<title>STARFLEET gets more than a Mention on This Week in Trek</title>
			<link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/StarfleetNews/~3/266Ja5ZLU84/index.php</link>
			<description>Heya folks,

I had an opportunity to be interviewed on This Week In Geek's brand new new podcast, Future Imperfect, by Mike "The Birdman" Dodd! The interview starts at about 20 minutes into the podcast. Check out the podcast at:

http://thisweekingeek.net/recent-posts/twig-future-imperfect-episode-01 (http://thisweekingeek.net/recent-posts/twig-future-imperfect-episode-01)

Mike "The Birdman" Dodd, one of the shows hosts, is one of STARFLEET's members (courtesy of a membership paid for him by another of our members), and is helping us out by getting some advertising out there for us.  Hopefully this results in some good press for STARFLEET and increases our membership.

Not exactly my best interview, I wasn't working with a script, but I'm sure that there'll be other opportunities for future interviews on their podcast and a chance to help us get some news and information about STARFLEET out onto the web.

<title>Thinking about bidding on IC 2014?</title>
			<link>http://feedproxy.google.com/~r/StarfleetNews/~3/PfDI8AN8Rpw/index.php</link>
<description>The deadline for bidding on STARFLEET's 2014 International Conference is  just over a month away, on 1 March 2012! If you're working on a bid, now would be a good time to check in with me on any questions you may have. I've heard from a few interested groups, but there's still room for your bid.IC 2012 is just a few months farther out, this summer at the Whispering Woods Hotel and Conference Center outside Memphis. And, at last year's IC, I announced that the winning bid for the 2013 International Conference will take us to Dallas, Texas. Visit http://www.ic2012.com/ (http://www.ic2012.com/) and http://www.ic2013.com/ (http://www.ic2013.com/) respectively for more information about those upcoming events.
What about 2014? If you're interested in hosting a future International Conference, the next two years are covered, but it's time to start thinking about bidding on future years! There are lots of things to think about, and there's lots of information on the IC Liaison web site at http://ic.sfi.org/ (http://ic.sfi.org/)Even if you haven't already started working on a bid, it's not too late to put together a good bid for IC 2014... but you'd better get moving! See the IC Liaison web site (at the link above) for the basics. If you have any questions about bidding on or planning an IC, now would be a good time to ask them! Bids for the 2014 IC will be accepted for just a few more weeks, with a deadline of 11:59pm EASTERN TIME on  March 1 (the end of the 1st), so now's the time to wrap up your planning. Drop me a note at ic@sfi.org (mailto:ic@sfi.org) if you'd like any advice, have any questions about the process, or even want me to help you talk to a hotel.-- General Mark H.
