Ok, so this has NOTHING to do with stamping, but I have to post this! My kiddo was in a news segment tonite - albeit from afar, but this was his 15 minutes (more like 15 seconds) of fame. He is the tall skinny one in the yellow shirt and black shorts - and totally loving the game of Quidditch! Dallas News | myFOXdfw.com School is still keeping me busy, so nothing new to post creativity-wise. Only 7 more weeks until this semester is over, then the fall semester and GRADUATION!! FINALLY!! Hopefully during the summer I'll be able to get my mojo in gear and post some new stuff. For now tho, bear with me. Until next time, Happy Stamping!!

I finally have something new to post! Shock, I know! Anyway...I had a few minutes to play around (rather, I took the time to stamp when I should have been studying) and decided to participate in the SUDSOL challenges. SUDSOL is a group of Stampin' Up! Demonstrators who are there to help other demos with any questions they might have and to provide wonderful encouragement to all members. So the challenge I decided to start with was the sketch challenge, and here is the card I came up with.

All items used to make the card were from Stampin' Up. They include: Teeny Tiny Wishes and A Slice of Life stamp sets; Whisper White card stock; Tempting Turquoise, So Saffron and Pear Pizzazz card stock and markers; Jet Black StazOn ink; Play Date Designer Series Paper; Small Oval, Large Oval, 2 1/2" Circle, and Scalloped Border punches; Circle Scissors Plus; Sizzix Big Shot and Scallop Circles #2 die.

The "A Slice of Life" stamp set is the Level 1 Hostess set from the current Occasions Mini and is such a great stamp set for so many occasions. Hello! Since I have a few minutes before leaving for classes today, I thought I'd share the card I did for a swap this past weekend. I have been in touch with a great group of Stampin' Up! demonstrators who have invited me to come to their monthly meetings. While I won't be able to make all of them, I was able to go on Saturday and had a wonderful time! So...on to the card I swapped.

Supplies used were as follows: Upsy Daisy stamp set, Very Vanilla and Basic Black card stock, Jet Black StazOn ink pad, Sizzix Big Shot, Punch Windows Movers & Shapers die, Modern Label punch, 5/8" Basic Black Satin or Grosgrain Ribbon (grosgrain used in this photo), and Stampin' Up!'s My Digital Studio Paper Crafting Software with the Night and Day digital download to create the houndstooth pattern cardstock. (The current Designer Series Paper pack named Love Letter also has this same pattern, but I do not have any of the DSP...so I made my own!)

Hi, Everyone!

It is hard to believe that the last time I posted was back in April! However, that was right before finals for me; then there were all the year-end school activities for both my kiddoes; and then I started another class that has consumed just about every bit of my time. But...finals are next week, and I'm done for a weekend! How exciting!! Eh, not so much...

But, what IS exciting is that Stampin' Up! just released today at noon the 2010-2011 Idea Book and Catalog! It is absolutely gorgeous!! I don't know how they do it, but every year I am WOW'd all over again! Well, I'm back, just like I said, and only a day later too! This page was so quick and easy to do, well relatively, anyway - I'm still learning the software - and it was done with Stampin' Up's new papercrafting software, My Digital Studio. I was in a hurry, (can you say, I wanted to get it done TODAY!!), so I didn't have it printed through Stampin' Up's printer, so the colors are just a bit off. Had I gone through their printer, every background, Designer Series Paper, ink and accessory color would match PERFECTLY with the element that you can actually touch! But, like I said, I wanted this done in a day, so I had it printed elsewhere, and while it does look great, I would like the colors to be more accurate. Next time!

As I stated in my earlier post, I don't think I will ever be a completely digital scrapbooker. I just like to add texture that you can both see and feel, see the different elements pop off the page, or whatever. But I do like the idea of what is called hybrid scrapbooking - basically, scrapbooking the photos onto the page digitally, printing it, then adding the page decorations afterwards. So I just ran some cardstock through my Sizzix Big Shot using the Leaves #2 die, crumpled them, inked them up, then attached them to the page with Stampin' Dimensionals. Very easy!! (Card stock colors used: Always Artichoke, Crushed Curry, and Dusty Durango; also Basic Black main page background.)

Hello! Well, as my title says, I have been busy doing more scrapbooking. Here is one of my latest projects, based on a SplitCoastStampers layout challenge (SBSC199). All products used, with the exception of the Sizzix Sizzlits set used for the title, are from Stampin' Up!

No, I haven't dropped off the face of the earth, but with end of the school year functions to attend and all the hoopla that goes along with that, I just haven't been able to update my blog. That does not mean, however, that I haven't been creating! In fact, I've been doing a lot of my first love of papercrafting - scrapbooking - and I have a page to share with you today. Well, here we are at the end of the group of cards. Thanks so much for visiting me this past week!

This was the last card that we did at the SAS, and it was my absolute favorite!! A little background: I was SO sad when A Tree for All Seasons was retired by Stampin' Up!, as it was one of my all-time favorites. But, when I saw its replacement, I was ecstatic!! A Flower for All Seasons fills the void perfectly for me. Also, I had opened the package of Juntos Designer Series Paper from the Stampin' Up! Spanish supplement, Celebrando Creatividad, but I had really never looked at the paper closely. WOW!!! What I missed all this time!! When I saw the dotted pattern, I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it, and the result is the following card.

Almost through - Card #5!!

Well, hello!! Thanks for dropping in! As you know from previous posts, I am showing the projects that we did at my recent Stamp-A-Stack of cards. This card is actually one of my two favorite ones that we did this past Saturday. I recently learned a technique that was new to me and I was so happy to be able to teach it to my Stamper Friends!

Supplies used for this card are: Wagon Full of Fun stamp set (Occasions Mini Catalog), Birthday Wish stamp; So Saffron, Whisper White, Brocade Blue and Chocolate Chip card stock; Bella Rose Designer Series Paper; Basic Brown and Close to Cocoa Classic Stampin' Pads; Barely Banana, Brocade Blue and Summer Sun Stampin' Write Markers; Barely Banana ink refill; Blender Pens; Heat Tool; 2-Way Glue Pen; Dazzling Diamonds glitter; and of course, Stampin' Dimensionals. (A project wouldn't be complete without them!!! See previous projects!!)

You probably can't see it, but the frosting on the cupcake is 3-D. To do this, I made a mixture of equal parts all-purpose flour and salt, then added a bit of water until it was the consistency of a thick cake batter. I added a couple of drops of the Barely Banana ink refill and mixed well. I then used a small round paint brush to push a thick layer of the batter over the frosting, being sure to leave the stamped lines of the frosting uncovered. Next, from the back side of the card stock, I heated the frosting until it BARELY had a matte (not shiny) finish, then switched to the front side to finish drying the frosting. When cooled, I dotted the frosting with the 2-Way Glue Pen and sprinkled with the glitter. This received a WOW!! and I was glad that I showed it. I can't wait to try using this technique on some other projects! Thanks, Donna, over at Butternut Sage, for the great directions on how to do this!

Card #4 from my SAS

Hello!! When I first saw this next card that Patty Bennett designed I immediately fell in love with it. It is such a simple, yet elegant card, that I felt that there is no way to improve upon it. So all I did was change the color and ribbon out, and here we are! Thanks so much, Patty!!

Once again, we used the Big Shot - WOW! I can't believe how much I've been using it lately!! Love it!! - this time with the Manhattan Flower Textured Impressions die. This die has an entire line of Stampin' Up! products that coordinate with it, and while I did not use any of them this time, I can't wait to see the results when I do get to use them!! Another card from Saturday's SAS

Hello! and again welcome! This is the third card from Saturday's Stamp-A-Stack. Once again, I was inspired by another stamping artist on SplitCoast - this time by skerz.

I love this stamp set, though I haven't used it in quite a while. The sentiments from this set are the PERFECT size for the Large Oval punch and then the Scalloped Oval punch! and I hearts!!

Supplies used for this card are: Simply Sent stamp set; Naturals White, Bordering Blue and Ruby Red card stock; Bordering Blue and Ruby Red Classic Stampin' Pads; 1 1/4" Square, Large Oval and Scalloped Oval punches; silver brads; Stampin' Dimensionals (do you see a pattern here?); paper piercer; and the Stamp-a-ma-jig (LOVE this tool!! It makes lining up words or overlaid stamps - or what SU! calls Two-Step Stampin' - a breeze!!)

In my previous post I mentioned that I would be showing you the projects that we made at my Stamp-a-Stack this past Saturday.

I loved the nearly identical card that simplystamping had posted on SplitCoastStampers.com, and thought that it would be an easy one for my stampers to make. It would also introduce them to the Sizzix Big Shot, which neither had previously used.

Supplies used for this card include: Flowers in Silhouette stamp and Thank You Kindly stamp set; Whisper White, Kiwi Kiss and Baja Breeze card stock; Kiwi Kiss and Baja Breeze Classic Stampin' Pad; Sponge Daubers; 3/16" Corner Rounder punch; Baja Breeze striped grosgrain ribbon; Stampin' Dimensionals; Sizzix Big Shot; SU! Backgrounds I Texturz Plates with the Impressions and Silicone Rubber pads; and the Sizzix Ovals Originals die.

While it seems that there are alot of supplies, this was an extremely quick and easy card to put together! Thanks for the inspiration, simplystamping!!
