Stampin' Smiles: Cake Decorating with Homemade Sizzix Stencil

Yum! White cake with buttercream frosting! But, instead of the usual birthday candles, the idea to popped into my head to try my Big Shot and Stampin' Up! Blossom Party Original Sizzix Die to make a flower stencil. I was excited to see if it would work. I remembered to grab my camera so you, too, could see how I did if it worked.

First, I used a clean sheet of Whisper White card stock and ran it through my Big Shot with the Blossom Party die. I then centered it on the frosted cake.

Here is just started sprinkling on the colored sugar. Oh, I did put the die-cut circle from the same die in the center of the flower stencil. Can you see it there?

Here is my sugar-filled stencil. I gently pushed the sugar into the frosting before removing my flower stencil. There was some frosting sticking to the back of the Whisper White card stock. It was a dirty job, but someone had to lick the frosting off the stencil.

I removed the Whisper White card stock die circle and filled in the center of the flower with yellow colored sugar. I then decided my flower need a couple of leaves. This was simple enough. I scored a folded another sheet of Whisper White card stock in half. Cut a curved line on the fold. Opened it up, and there was my leaf stencil.

Add a couple of green colored sugar leaves. And, there it is! Okay, it is not up to the standards of cake decorators by any stretch of the imagination, but I had fun a thrilled another Big Shot enthusiast. It is the little things that make me smile. At least it resembled a flower.

Now I will want to buy colored sugar in all kinds of colors. I have a lot of Big Shot dies I could use for stencils. Wouldn't the snowflakes be pretty for a winter birthday? Has this sparked an idea for you too? Please share it in the comments section below.

Stampin' Smiles December 8-1/2" x 11" Wow Wall Calendar with Delightful Ornaments Stamp Set

We are at the end of my Wow Wall Calendar pages. The Delightful Decorations stamp set and Ornament punch from the Holiday Mini Catalog adorn this pretty page.

The designer series paper is Merry Moments. The silver piece the ornaments are hanging from is a sliver of Brushed Silver card stock. I was able to get the slivers by using my Tabletop Cutter. Just do not know how I did without it! And, once discovering what an incredible tool it is, would not do without it. It may not seem as an exciting purchase as a pretty new stamp set or cool punch, but anything that makes your paper crafting easier is always exciting to me!

Stampin' Smiles November 8-1/2" x 11" Wow Wall Calendar Page with Autumn Days

Maple leaves are my favorite leaf shape. The maple in leaf in Autumn Days stamp set is just perfect. The ladies who took my Wow Wall Calendar Class thought all the leaves in pretty colors was background paper. It was a simple sheet of Whisper White card stock stamped with one stamp over and over in a variety of colors.

I did take the colors from the Autumn Traditions Designer Series Paper. The color combination is Ruby Red, Always Artichoke, More Mustard, Elegant Eggplant and Soft Suede.

The die-cut leaves are from the Sizzix Leaves #2 Originals Die. I started with the border of the five die-cut leaves. After settling on the border, the rest fell into place.

Again, I wanted a calendar page that had space for a picture but would also look good on its own. Judging from the reaction of my stampers, it did its job.
