anyway back at the ranch, i mean cabin. i got up at the crack of dawn and met this family at their cabin at 9am. it is such a lovely place on a beautiful lake in maine. the cabin had been there since the 1920’s (i think). they’d been looking for a place for 8 years before stumbling onto this place. it is breathtaking. and i wasn’t prepared for what was about to greet me. the day started with this when i walked in and it melted my heart.

when i had spoke to mom, i had asked her “what’s your favorite thing to do in the morning?” she replied, “”my husband makes pancakes”. i said, “great – let’s capture that in pictures”. my intention was to capture them making pancakes but when i arrived, breakfast was being served on the screened porch complete with blueberry pancakes, locally made bacon (freakin’ amazing), blackberries, maine maple syrup…..i was in heaven. and hungry, i’m always hungry. THEY were serving me breakfast. i think i died and went to heaven. they are awesome. i wonder what they’re doing for lunch today????

after we were stuffed, we headed outside and started taking pictures.

i have to interrupt for a second….they have a dog. cute, sweet dog. now mind you, this is an older dog and they purchased this place three years ago(ish). they taught the dog that if you’re going swimming, you gotta climb out yourself. it was hysterical!!! jake, you are one smart puppy!!!

the mom’s summer camp  growing up – camp arcadia.  she went there as a girl and her daughter is planning on going there also.  that is so cool!!!

and board games. you can’t have a cabin in maine without board games. and LOTS of them because there’s no TV. none. and they like it that way!!! i love the dad’s expression. i think his son was winning!!! hahaha!!!

wait – how did THAT get in there? oh, well, ummm….because i’m a ham that’s why!! and because i love these kids. but really my favorite shot of the day is this one.

now you should know, i’ve grown up in maine. i know maine pretty well. i can find my way around on these back country roads like no other. but this family said “we’re staying at goose rock beach.” huh? where?? what??? i’ve never, ever been to any of the beloved beaches south of portland. i was in for a shock. i mean, how could i have never visited this area? i’m still in shock. it is truly the most beautiful area on the east coast.
