Allergies to nuts are different than allergies to peanuts due to the fact that peanuts are considered part of the legume family which would included things like lima beans, lentils and peas. They are not considered a nut. Peanuts are actually a plant that has edible seeds enclosed in pods. Theses pods grow underneath the soil.

Unfortunately about 200 people per year die from analyphylatic shock due to peanuts or other types of nuts.</description>
