I came across a great idea the other day and this is one I’m definately going to run with, it seems like it’ll be quite a money maker, but there is some work involved.

You could outsource the work if you like, there will be many people out there who would be happy to do the work and you can just middle man the entire thing.

There is no ‘real’ investment needed either, you could do this by word of mouth and still make some money.

It’s also scalable, you can do this as much as you like and just keep on adding to the money that is coming in! Did I mention that it pays recurring revenue too!

Here goes . . .

You need to sign up as an affiliate to Hostgator or another Hosting Company that offers a good payout, and one that pays recurring revenue.

I mention Hostgator because this is one that pays out quite well.

Put out an ad in a Newspaper saying that you are giving away websites for free.

Tell them that they need to choose a template and supply all content and images for you to upload.

Once the website’s been done, tell them that they need a hosting package to put their website online (it may be worth outlining ‘hidden’ charges before it gets this far).

Have them sign up using your referral code.

If you target people properly the majority of these will definately renew, and you continue to get recurring revenue.

You do need to outsource this though so you don’t have to work too much

I reckon there is alot of money to be made from this, and as long as you keep your customers happy, word of mouth will spread. Afterwards, people will want updates and SEO, PPC, etc doing on their websites, so you can even make more from doing that. There are lots of people out there who don’t know anything about the internet and believe it or not they need help, alot will snap off your arm for this.

There’s a definate time element here though, it could take you a while to get it all setup, but once it’s done, you can turn it into a real cash cow.

You’ll need access to some templates. You can make your own if you like, or there are many free ones online, you can even subscribe to services that produce website tempates every month that you could include with your service (your business grows every month with new templates).

If you want to go the whole hog, you could even get your own reseller account setup for as cheap as 30GBP per month with unlimited everything! Although if you get hundreds of people, then managing your server could turn into work.

Lets see how much you could make:

If you did have your own server, and you charged 10GBP per month (alot, I know, but people will pay this if they are getting a ‘free website’), you could bill them 120GBP for the year. You’d need three websites to cover the costs of your server.

You’d need another to cover the costs of your advertisement in the newspaper, and probably two or three more to cover your time and effort.

Realistically, you’d have to give away around ten websites to cover costs. Thats 1200GBP for setup and your first years hosting fees and advertising for a couple of months.

OK, get out there and give away ten websites! Yeah I know, this is where our inaction takes over us and we start to procrastinate, but listen to this . . .

Give away ten websites per month and outsource all the work (at 70GBP per site) then you have a clear 50GBP in your pocket, yeah that’s nearly twenty websites to give away before you break even but this money is recurring revenue! You’ll be receiving payments from your customers as long as they keep the site!

OK, so if I give away 20 websites in a month, then that’s 1000GBP per month for just being the middle man. If I do the work (two websites a day would be quite easy), then thats 2400GBP per month, for 10 days (easy) work + probably a day processing orders.

And remember the kicker, this is recurring revenue, if 100% stay with you (probably closer to 75%), then ‘give away’ 100 websites and you’ve got 12,000GBP (closer to 9,000GBP) per year for that first few weeks work.

Keep doing this and before you know it, you’ll have a very profitable hosting company

My Goal is to give away 200 sites this year. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Does anyone want to take me up on a Free SEO Report and suggestions for improvement on their websites? If so let me know and I’ll arrange it for you. Ideally I’d like to discuss the website in this Blog, but if you don’t want me to then you can have the report anyways only for first fifty people.

Everyone seems to give out different advice when it comes to choosing a niche.

The advice given all depends on what you want your end result to be, I research a niche with the following in mind:

High traffic keyword

Low organic competition

Possible to monetize

Easy as that. Well, I wish it was, you can spend a lot of time looking for something to build a new website around, and sometimes come up with nothing. I’ve found a couple of toolbars that install into Firefox that make the job a little easier. Remember though, only time and effort can find you your ideal niche.

I’ve still not used the toolbars to their potential yet, I can’t seem to get by the Google Search Tool!

The first toolbar is the Cashkeywords Toolbar and the other is the VRE Toolbar.

They can be downloaded free here Cash Keywords and here VRE Toolbar

Over the last week or so, I’ve uncovered a few of what I’d consider to be good niches using them both, and I’m building the Blogs as we speak. Read on to see the video . . .

These toolbars take a lot of the work away from choosing a new niche to target and I hope you find them as useful as I have. I’ve made a video of me using the two toolbars so you can see them before you bother to download them.

Personally I choose a keyword with at least 1,000 searches per month, and less than a million pages to compete with on the organic listings on Google. Once you’ve got the niche of your dreams, you need to start work on a website, to do this you need to be able to Optimise your websites to show up in Google.

This is where alot of people decide to give up . . . please don’t, get your domain name and setup a Wordpress Blog . . .

If you read this far then you deserve something extra, to help with my next post (on SEO) I’d like you to leave your comments as usual, I’ll run off a SEO report on one and we’ll discuss it next time I post How does that sound?

I’m by no means an expert on all this, so this is open for discussion. I’ll start to call myself an expert when I’ve reached my first Goal

Take a look at the video and please leave me feedback, the clarity could be better, I’ll bear that in mind for the next post.

They say Money is in the list.

And rightly so, almost all of the big name marketers have a huge email list. They have a reach over a very wide array of audience, and thus whenever they launch a new product - or affiliate with some other - they can promote it to a laser targeted marketer within a few clicks. I am concentrating on building my list, and as a testimony I’ve around 360 subscribers now. I’m aiming for around 1,000 by the end of this month.

It’s beneficial to build a list to try out email marketing; along with other forms of marketing. Below, I’m listing some of the “benefits” of building an email list:

You have a reach over a very wide array of audience.

You can ensure that it is laser-targeted list by filtering out.

You can promote anything, affiliate or yours, with a few clicks.

It doesn’t end there. Only when you start building a list, you’ll realize how much potential it has. But.. as with any other form of marketing, you have to work here. “Just” having a list is not enough, you have to build a relationship with your subscribers. It can be related to any phenomenon from a normal life; When a customer comes to a shop, the salesman can make him/her purchase more with his skills.

I’ve talked a lot about building list, but how do you do it? It’s easy to set-up. We will need an autoresponder service. There are many out there, I use Aweber. GetResponse is another popular option you may opt for. Once you have signed up for the service, you’ll have to set-up the autoresponder with them. Aweber was quite easy to set-up, they had a step-by-step wizard which even a newbie like me could follow easily. You have to make sure you comply with a no-spam policy otherwise you’d be losing subscribers.

Once you’ve set everything up - I’d recommend adding 4-5 follow-up messages giving away your subscribers some good information and freebies. I have done that now, and those who subscribe to my newsletter would know that. This helps you build a solid relationship with your subscribers. They believe in you and trust that the offers you’d send would be something to look at. However, don’t overdo this freebie giveaway, otherwise you’ll be training your subscribers to look for another freebie every other time.

Once everything is done, you can get the code for an opt-in form from your account administration panel. You’ll have to integrate it with an opt-in template, and all is set on your part. Now, you have to send traffic to that page and convert your visitors into subscribers. That topic goes beyond the scope of this article, so I may discuss it in upcoming posts.

Please leave your own comments on list building, a few tips to increase your subscribers if you have any.

January ended on a positive note, and February has kicked off with a bang!

Personally, I saw a lot of good and not-so-good things. Made good money and had a re-design of Splitstack. I’ve added a few modifications like commentluv to the blog, and am still figuring out how to add threaded replies and OIO-publisher. A couple of changes are on the line, and I’m hopeful they help you in some way.

I’ve changed a few pages as well, so you might want to navigate once again.

Here’s some link love for those who deserve:

Blog promotion - Post by Post : My friend Ardit’s blog, and he writes some good text on how you can equally spread the traffic between all your posts, and increase traffic on your blog. Some great information on his blog, specially check out the post where he tells about the images in posts.

The value of having a list : In this post on TUK, Ryan talks about the value of building a list and I wholeheartedly agree. I’ve been putting efforts into this, and you can see the results coming in. The RSS subscribers of this blog are around 300, and I’m working hard to cross 1000 by the end of this month. With a targeted list and a great relationship with your subscribers, something you build over time, you can make very good money online.

How to guest post to promote your blog : Guest posting is something I’ve always wanted to do, but never had the time. With this blog post, I’ve a good knowledge of which areas to hit and how to hit’em right. I thoroughly enjoyed reading the post, and I’m quite hopeful you’ll also enjoy it.

That was all for the link love today. There are some interesting posts lined up for you, so stay tuned!

In the meantime, please comment below and share your experiences in the first month of the year - How your blogs/ websites performed and as such. And don’t forget to add your opinions on What you’d like to be improved over here - I promise I’d work on them.

Twitter is going to be a big marketing tool in 2009, that’s what I believe. Some may agree, others may differ. Twitter can send a good chunk of traffic your way, get you projects in areas you specialize, can help you build contacts and ultimately help you grow bigger in whatever field you are.

Still, many people don’t use it as effectively as they could. Not knowing how to do something is one thing, not levaraging the power when you could is completely stupid. There is no excuse Why you can’t spend 10 minutes on Twitter when it has the ability to send hundreds of “targeted” visitors your way for “free”. When you tweet about a page you recently updated, a recent blog post or something, you’ll instantly get a good chunk of targeted visitors (something that SU and Digg don’t send, in most cases).

So yeah Swastik, spill the beans. I know 700 twitter followers is not a big job or anything, you can double that in a week or even less. Here are some tips that might help:

Follow others

This may sound a little too obvious but most people don’t do it. Some people have their reasons - they don’t want to follow those outside their niche. Now we are not some Kevin Rose, Frank Kern or some similar personality, so we have to follow the tactic of “give it, take it”. You follow others, they follow you. Simple.

Here’s a little technique to follow people who may be one of your prospect visitors, customers or one whom you may profit from in any way. Pick a niche, do a small research on who the big names are, find their nicks on Twitter and follow their followers. Those who follow them are interested in learning more about that niche, generally. You follow them and when you send related tweets, they might just be interesting in taking a look at what you have inside the bag.

Then there are some tools that empower you to follow others when they follow you. Why do that? First, it’ll help you interact more and more people will follow you since they also get one follower in return. Second, you can deliver an @ message automatically (you gotta set it up) to their boxes.

Tweet regularly

Now, I have to admit that I’ve been rather lazy. I don’t tweet that much, but twittering frequently helps you stand out. For an example, a random person ‘A’ is visiting another random dude ‘B’s Twitter page. He finds your tweet on the top and navigates to your page. You may get a follower.

Then, those who follow you need to know you. If you tweet once in a week, it won’t prove as effective, if at all. A couple of tweets a day won’t take any longer than a minute, and unless you are super duper busy, I guess you can spare a minute? And hey, that one minute is not going to harm you, in fact it might just profit your business.

Have personality

Brand yourself. Twitter allows you to change the background to what you want. Use it, and provide your followers more information about you, your projects, your websites. I’ve had a background designed, but I never figured out what size it needed to be and gave up. Now it’s not all that hard; I’m sure when I get some time I’ll change mine.

Now those were some quick tips on increasing your Twitter followers almost instantly. But always remember one thing - Don’t SPAM twitter. Use it, use it with a good mind. Don’t go after it with a sole motto of marketing your product or website. Build a relationship with your followers, let them know who you are, what you do, and then tell them about your projects etc. You’ll see a lot better results.

Now this is an Internet Marketing blog, so I thought I should publish some posts related to specifics of Internet Marketing. Okay, fluff aside, today’s post is going to brief about Article Marketing - something I’ve been trying to do of late.

Article marketing is one of the most rewarding “type” of Internet Marketing. It certainly takes some work, but the returns are something that I’d work for. Basically, you write an article and submit it to a few top article directories praying that they get accepted. But, you can re-use the article once you write it in many ways. For example, you may submit it to forums, submit a re-written version to various blogs and hence it can leveraged time and again.

Let me clear one thing here: Article marketing is by no means an automated system for recurring income. An article you write once is not going to give you traffic for lifetime. That’s why you need to churn out articles at a consistent basis and keep on pumping them to various article directories. Many people will submit 5 articles a month to a few top directories, and when they don’t see results, they’ll declare the system fails when in reality, their work was not up to the mark. As a matter of fact, the top writers at ezinearticles have thousands of articles to their name.

If you’re really bad at writing, you may consider outsourcing the job. There are quality writers out there who can work for $10 approximately per article. 20-25 articles a month is going to cost only around $250, and you may submit them to article directories to get traffic, and ultimately make money with it. However, if you decide to churn out the articles yourselves (which is not all that hard considering I’m not good at writing and all my articles got submitted to ezinearticles), here are some tips that might help you:

Concentrate on it while you’re writing. Avoid any distractions, turn off your TV, sign out of your messengers, switch off your phone - just concentrate on what you’re writing. That will help you write better and faster. Because once you get out of the mode, it takes some time to get back into it.

Use notes and expand them. Yes, when I do article research I take notes and expand them while actually writing the articles. It’s easy that way and you don’t get short of ideas in the middle.

Don’t try to make it too long. Generally people link the quality of an article to it’s length, when in reality it’s not the length. If you can say what you have to in 300 words, why add 200 words of fluff? Certainly, you got to use parts of the article to get readers attention towards your resource box - but don’t make half the article a fluff.

Next, when you’ve written an article, it’s time to do some keyword research. I’ve always outsourced this work, as it simply ain’t something I could do. But I know a bit about it. You should try and find out keywords that have competition less than 10,000 and daily searches of more than 10. Once you have a fair amount of keywords, we’ll go on to submit to article directories.

I submit my articles myself, as it doesn’t take more than 15 minutes. However, it’s completely up to you to use an article submitter, such as article bot or article marketer. There are lots of article directories, but Jack Humphrey has one impressive list over here.

The most common setup of the submission page consists of fields where you insert your keywords, article body, article summary (a teaser) and resource box. Article summary doesn’t need to be written, just use your first paragraph or so.

Resource box is the magic box for us. We pull traffic from right there. So, it needs to have a certain call-to-action that compels the article reader to visit your website at least one time. Leave who who are and what you do, there is no time to tell people those things as they simply don’t care. Tell them what you can do for them, and Why should they pick you up on your offer.

All done, you just have to wait a few days for your article to get approved. Till then, you should continue to submit articles at a regular basis. Either hire a writer, or do it yourself.

Again, a single article can serve a lot of purposes. Intellectual knowledge is your most valuable asset today. Same is with Google, Microsoft and other companies - it’s not the land or offices that matter, it’s the vast information they have. It can do wonders!

Many of us have a product, either written by ourself or PLR or MRR or anything, but are not able to sell it to it’s potential or to what we think (note that both may be completely different scenarios). Now there is no excuse for not putting in hard work, but most of the time people just fall behind on a few aspects which later costs them.

First thing, and for me the most important thing, is your product. There are a couple of options for you to choose from - outsource the product creation process or do it yourself. Now the second one may be a little more time consuming but that way you always have a control over quality. And hey, there’s no money making method that takes zero time. I prefer creating products myself as it gives me control over quality and I like the process.

I just grabbed a free report from Gabor Olah today in which he explains about how you could create a $50+ product just by accumulating $7 products that you can finish in one evening. That way, you allow your potential customers to pick up whatever they want, or the whole product itself. Better and easier options equals more buyers. And you can easily pull off more profits than you’d otherwise.

After the product creation process is over, I’d recommend proof-reading the entire product. This may sound like one heck of a process, but really think yourself - Would you like to offer a product that is full of grammatical mistakes and thus hurt your own reputation that haunts you whenever you try to do future business? Of course not! So, it’s always better to proof-read yourself or get a friend to proof-read the product.

When everything I’ve mentioned is done, you should get reviews/ testimonials. I’d recommend going to forums (especially WarriorForum) and getting a few reviews from people whom others believe. If you’re giving away a free review copy to someone with no credibility, you’re not going to do any good to sales. I’d even recommend sending out emails to people who have good credibility to take a free copy and review it if they have the time. If they do, and like your product, you get words from someone whom others will believe and thus your sales increase. Ask them any questions related to your product - how you could improve, what should be the price etc. I’m not saying to take their word for it, but you can certainly take a look at their opinions.

If you don’t like the idea of giving away “free” review copies, just do a pre-launch at the Warrior forum as a WSO, and I’m sure you’ll get a LOT of AMAZING advice about your product. It’s all up to you.

Now all those were little things that help you create a good product, and that is the most important part of getting constant sales (of course marketing is necessary). Now when you’ve launched the product, here are some tips to increase sales:

Cater to the right market: You cannot sell a dating related audio to people who are suffering from acne (of course there may be some exceptions). It’s better to have targeted audience that converts than one heck of an audience that gives no sales. Pick your market wisely, and go after it. Don’t leave any stone unturned in your marketing efforts.

Build credibility: Now a days, every second person out there is trying website flipping, and doing things their way - they are not going to make any dime. Back to topic, Why should anyone believe you? Why are you not one of the every second “guru” who claims that his product is the next big thing in the market? Here’s where the reviews from big guys help. Screenshots about your product/ method really works and you’ve done it helps build credibility as well.

Connect to your audience: Now many won’t afford Michael Fortin for writing their sales copy but they say connecting to your audience can do the magic. From what I’ve seen of the high converting sales copy, most of them kind of hypnotized you in their stories. Many people don’t like reading those long sales letter, but the fact is that they convert. And that’s what you need - conversion.

Create urgency: You may create a urgency amongst your potential buyers by limiting the number of copies, giving discount for the first few copies or something you can come up on your own. Think of it as this: You have only ONE chance to covert someone into a buyer. If they think too much on the product, and leave the page once, most probably they won’t come back ever again. You lose a potential buyer there.

Offer Bonuses: Free few hours support, a free report on a method that would compliment the original copy, or some value added bonuses generally do the trick. It won’t cost you much, if anything, to get a 10 page report that you can giveaway as a bonus to the main report. And you increase the overall perceived value.

Overall, I’d like to add that once you start creating products and selling them in the market, accordingly you build your reputation and credibility. After a few launches, if your products are really good, you’ll automatically see a good influx of sales on your next products.

Oh, and I’d appreciate if you leave a comment below and share your own thoughts. Also, subscribe to the blog if you’d like.

Happy New Year people!

2009 is just a few hours (3.5 to be exact) away here. 2008 has been an amazing year for me. I was good at studies, made quite a bit of money online and met amazing people who taught me so much. I could do a recap of the complete year but till July, it was the same old story: Trying to make money by every way possible. All that newbies do.

Things have changed after July, a lot. I’ve tried to make myself more focused towards whichever projects I start, and give it my best. And it has worked like magic. Almost every project of mine has seen profits, some being exceptional ones.

I generally do not plan anything and let it take it’s own route. But I have a very big project lined up in 2009 with one of my friends Brandon from GeekSplash.com. I won’t go into much details now but you guys will surely see a post describing it in a few weeks. It’s currently in the planning phase and we are sorting out everything we could do.

Now, one more good news that got me excited. Splitstack got a Google PR 3 and I can still count how many days old it is - 1,2,3,4… 27. One of my first friends online, Ardit from Blogict also got a PR 3 (Congrats dude!). For some it doesn’t matter, for others it does. But you cannot deny the fact that it helps you sell ad spots, eh? I could write an eBook on how I got a PR 3 in 4 weeks ( ) but the fact is that I really don’t know how I got it . I had some plans on Blog commenting, but ended up commenting like crazy on a single Blog: DesmondBlog.

I should work more on my subscribers and traffic now. For subscribers, I have an idea in my mind (no contests). For traffic, I’m not pretty sure. Maybe I’ll try PPC for it. Or maybe become more active commentator on blogs in my niche, and attract traffic from there. One thing is for sure, I will try to help my readers out as much as I can. So subscribe if you want some great content served.

As many of you might have seen, people who were trying to flip websites during the Christmas were certainly having a hard time selling for the prices they wanted. Of course, the better ones sold, but not at the price they would have, at any other time. And all that was understandable as not many people were willing to spend much money after already spending for Christmas presents etc.

Now that the Christmas is over, and we wait for the new year to arrive, let’s discuss on choosing a niche you could use to flip websites. Picking up a niche that is not too obvious, not too over-used is important, in my opinion. At the same time, it should be a profitable aspect for your buyer. You should not hand over just anything to anyone. Try and make it profitable for a prospect buyer, and you may see a returning customer.

So yeah, we have to do some research work before we put together a website and list it for sale. The important thing is how we do it. For me, I break it into three parts. I don’t actually go through all the three at a time, but I check them to make sure the website can be a profitable aspect and I can point that out in the listing.

Checking the marketplace.

Using Google Trends & similar services.

Checking Clickbank and similar networks.

Checking the Marketplace

There are a couple of marketplaces I frequent - Digitalpoint & Sitepoint. You’ll see a lot of sites being listed for sale everyday. Some sell and others don’t. You can take a look at what kind of websites are selling, Why they are selling and thus make your decision.

Another, and more interesting way would be to look at something you think is unique, but did not sell. You can then pick the idea, make a website, add value & sell a similar kind of website for a better price.

Using Google Trends and similar services

Now, we can use those tools which estimate traffic on a particular keyword, like Google trends. When you go to Google trends, you’ll notice the top 10 searches at that time. You can click on anyone to elaborate on it.

The benefit of using it is that you can pick up niche which are hot, and new. So, you’ll be facing no/ less competition, and can rank well for keywords you want in a short amount of time. Thus, you’ll add a lot of value to your website flip.

Be careful not to choose a way too much specific niche, where it becomes hard to maintain a website and you can’t really explore much off it.

Using Clickbank and other networks

I advice to check those out to see if there are any products you could promote in the niche. Why? Because you can setup pages to promote those products, and thus increase the perceived price of that website. You may register with them, browse their marketplace and pick well paying products to promote on the blog. Then set up specific pages with your affiliate links, and promote it.

Alright, those were my ideas to choose a niche for flipping websites. What are your views on this? How will you go through choosing a niche?

Quality vs Marketing- What matters more? Can you sell a product just because of it’s quality, with less or no marketing? Can you sell a not so good product with hardcore marketing? I’ve been playing with the idea for the past couple of months, and from my experience, you can sell literally anything if you build a good hype, market it well. On the other hand, if you have a quality product, it’s not certain that you’ll be selling loads of it.

I’ve used many products, good and bad. I’ve myself sold good and not so good products, and everytime marketing wins. There are way too many products in the market in any category, but not all of them sells. Even if product A has better quality than Product B, but Product B is marketing in a better way, you’ll see Product B sell more. You can create a great product, no one will know, and it won’t sell.

So, the question is Why is marketing more important?

There is a really simple answer to this. More (targeted) people know about your product, more the chances are that they’ll buy it. A good marketer makes the products sell, not just by marketing, but proper marketing. You’d be thinking what’s the difference between marketing and proper marketing? Well, you have a product, you make it known to everybody you could think of. But even then, it doesn’t sell, Why? You might have marketed it to people who have no relation to the product category. For an example, if you are marketing toys to a office going lad, you think he’s going to buy it? No. A better audience for it could be a specific age group children.

Anyways, back to the topic, Is Marketing all that is necessary to survive, sell your products and make money online? I’d differ here. You can have a bad product, for the first time and market it heavily. It will sell, but as soon as people realize the quality, the negative reviews from mouth-to-mouth advertising will kill your sales. It effects the future products as well. You’d lose credibility by marketing bad products, and thus your future products won’t sell.

So, as a conclusion - I’d say that both have equal weightage. You cannot neglect the importance of quality, or marketing. You may be able to sell a couple of products, not good in quality, but to do it repeatedly, you need to have a good blend of both. Internet businesses are all based on reputation, credibility - if you have those, you’ll be able to sell products in the long run. If not, you won’t.

What do you think matters more? Quality product or marketing? And why?
