I envy no one, nor am I partial to anyone. I am equal to all.

I am the only enjoyer and master of all sacrifices. Therefore, those who do not recognize My true transcendental nature fall down.

I give heat & I withhold & send the rain. I'm immortality & I'm also death personified. Both spirit and matter are in Me(Lord Krishna).

I am the creation and the annihilation, the basis of everything, the resting place and the eternal seed.
I am the goal, the sustainer, the master, the witness, the abode, the refuge, and the most dear friend.

I am the object of knowledge, the purifier and the syllable om. I am also the Rig, the Sama and the Yajur Vedas.

I am the father of this universe, the mother, the support and the grandsire.

I am the butter and the fire and the offering.

I am the ritual, I the sacrifice, the offering to the ancestors, the healing herb, the transcendental chant.

Great souls engage in sacrifice by seeking knowledge, worship the Supreme Lord as the one, as diverse in many & in the universal form.

Chanting My glories, endeavoring with determination, bowing down before Me(Lord Krishna), the great souls perpetually worship Me with devotion.

Those who are not deluded, the great souls, are under the protection of the divine nature.

Those who are thus bewildered are attracted by demonic and atheistic views.

Fools deride Me when I descend in the human form. They don't knew My transcendental nature as the Supreme Lord of all that be.

Material nature,which is one of My energies, is working under My direction, producing all moving & non-moving beings.

All this work cannot bind Me. I am ever detached from all these material activities, seated as though neutral.

The whole cosmic order is under Me. Under My will it is manifested, and under My will it is annihilated.

At the end, all material manifestations enter into My(Lord Krishna) nature & at the beginning, by My potency, I create them again.

Understand that as the mighty wind, blowing everywhere, rests always in the sky, all created beings rest in Me(Lord Krishna).

Although I'm the maintainer of all living entities & although I'm everywhere, I'm not a part of this cosmic manifestation, for My Self is the very source of creation.

And yet everything that is created does not rest in Me.

By Me, in My unmanifested form, this entire universe is pervaded. All beings are in Me, but I am not in them.

Those who aren't faithful in this devotional service can't attain Me, therefore they return to the path of birth & death in this material world.

When one passes in light, he does not come back; but when one passes in darkness, he returns.

According to Vedic opinion, there are two ways of passing from this world - one in light and one in darkness.

God, who is greater than all, is attainable by unalloyed devotion. He is all-pervading & everything is situated within Him.

Yet there is another unmanifest nature, it is supreme and is never annihilated.

At the beginning of Brahma's day, all living entities manifest and when the night falls they unmanifest again.

A thousand ages taken together form the duration of Brahma's one day. And such also is the duration of his night.

From the highest planet in the material world down to the lowest, all are places of misery where in repeated birth and death take place. But one who attains to My abode, never takes birth again.

After attaining Me (Lord Krishna), the great souls (Yogis), never return to this temporary world, which is full of miseries, they have attained the highest perfection.

One who always remembers Me(Lord Krishna) without deviation, I am easy to obtain.

Practicing yoga & reciting the sacred syllable OM, if one thinks of Me(Lord Krishna), he will certainly reach the spiritual planets.

Closing all the doors of the senses & fixing the mind on the heart & the life air at the top of the head, one establishes himself in yoga.

The yogic situation is that of detachment from all sensual engagements.

One who at the time of death, fixes his life air between the eyebrows & engages himself in remembering Me(Lord Krishna) ,will certainly attain Me.

One should meditate upon the Supreme Person as the one who knows everything. He is transcendental, beyond this material nature.

He who meditates on Me (Lord Krishna), his mind constantly engaged in remembering Me(Lord Krishna),undeviating from the path, he is sure to reach Me(Lord Krishna).

With your activities dedicated to Me and your mind and intelligence fixed on Me(Lord Krishna), you will attain Me(Lord Krishna) without doubt.

Whatever state of being one remembers when he quits his body, that state he will attain without fail.

And whoever, at the end of his life, quits his body, remembering Me(Lord Krishna) alone, at once attains My nature.

I, the Supreme Lord, represented as the Super soul in the heart of every embodied being, am called adhiyajna [the Lord of sacrifice].

The universal form of the Lord, which includes all the demigods, like those of the sun and moon, is called adhidaiva.

The physical nature, which is constantly changing, is called adhibhuta [the material manifestation].

Action pertaining too the development of the material bodies of the living entities is called karma or fruitive activities.

The indestructible, transcendental living entity is called Brahman & his eternal nature is called adhyatma, the self.

Those who know Me to be the governing principle of the material manifestation, of the demigods & of all methods of sacrifice, can understand Me even at the time of death.

Intelligent people who seek liberate from old age & take refuge in Me through devotional service are Brahman,as they know everything about transcendental activities.

People who have acted piously in previous lives and in this life and free of sin are free from delusion.

All living entities are born into delusion, bewildered by dualities arisen from desire and hate.

O Arjuna,I knew everything that has happened, all that is happening & all things that will. I also know all living entities; but no one knows Me.

I never manifest to the unintelligent. For them I am covered by My internal potency & they do not know that I am unborn & infallible.

Unintelligent men, due to their small knowledge, they do not know My higher nature, which is imperishable and supreme.

Those who worship demigods go to their planets, but My devotees ultimately reach My supreme planet.

Men of small intelligence worship the demigods, and their fruits are limited and temporary.

Endowed with faith, he worships a demigod & obtains his desires. In actuality these benefits are bestowed by Me alone.

I am in everyone's heart as the Super-soul. As soon as one desires to worship some demigod, I make his faith steady so that he can devote himself to that particular deity.

Those whose intelligence has been stolen by material desires surrender unto demigods.

After many births and deaths, he who is actually in knowledge surrenders unto Me. Such a great soul is very rare.

He who is situated in knowledge of Me I consider to be just like My own self. He is sure to attain Me, the highest and most perfect goal.

The knowledgeable one who engages in pure devotional service is the best. I am dear to him, and he is dear to Me.

Those miscreants whose knowledge is stolen by illusion, and who partake of the atheistic nature of demons do not surrender unto Me.

The divine energy of Mine is difficult to overcome. But those who have surrendered unto Me can easily go beyond.

Deluded by the 3 modes - goodness, passion and ignorance, the world does not know Me, I'm above the modes and inexhaustible.

I am everything, but I am independent. I am not under the modes of material nature, on the contrary they are within Me.

Know that all states of being - be they of goodness, passion or ignorance - are manifested by My energy.

I am the strength of the strong, devoid of passion and desire. I'm sex life which is not contrary to religious principles.

Without being attached to the fruits of activities, one should act, for by working without attachment one attains the Supreme.

But for one whose life is one of self-realization, and who is satisfied in the self only - for him there is no duty.

One who lives only for the satisfaction of the senses without following the cycle of sacrifice, lives in vain.

Work done as a sacrifice for Vishnu has to be performed, otherwise work causes bondage in this material world.

Perform your duty, doing so is better than not working. One can't even maintain one's physical body without work.

Do not yield to this degrading impotence. It does not become you. Give up weakness of heart and arise.

The mind is restless and difficult to restrain, but it is subdued by practice.

The mind acts like an enemy for those who do not control it.

Chapter Thirteen: Nature, the Enjoy er and Consciousness.

One who understands the difference between the body, the soul and the Super soul beyond them both attains liberation from this material world.

Chapter Fourteen: The Three Modes of Material Nature.

All embodied souls are under the control of the three modes, or qualities, of material nature: goodness, passion and ignorance. Lord Krishna explains what these modes are, how they act upon us, how one transcends them, and the symptoms of one who has attained the transcendental state.

Chapter Fifteen: The Yoga of the Supreme Person.

The ultimate purpose of Vedic knowledge is to detach oneself from the entanglement of the material world and to understand Lord Krishna as the Supreme Personality of Godhead. One who understands Krishna's supreme identity surrenders unto Him and engages in His devotional service.

Chapter Ten: The Opulence of the Absolute.

All wondrous phenomena showing power, beauty, grandeur or sublimity, either in the material world or in the spiritual, are but partial manifestations of Krishna's divine energies and opulence. As the supreme cause of all causes and the support and essence of everything, Krishna is the supreme object of worship for all beings.

Chapter Eleven: The Universal Form.

Lord Krishna grants Arjuna divine vision and reveals His spectacular unlimited form as the cosmic universe. Thus He conclusively establishes His divinity. Krishna explains that His own all-beautiful humanlike form is the original form of Godhead. One can perceive this form only by pure devotional service.

Chapter Twelve: Devotional Service (Bhakti-yoga).

Bhakti-yoga, pure devotional service to Lord Krishna, is the highest and most expedient means for attaining pure love for Krishna, which is the highest end of spiritual existence. Those who follow this supreme path develop divine qualities.

Chapter Six: Dhyana-yoga.

Ashtanga-yoga, a mechanical meditative practice, controls the mind and senses and focuses concentration on Paramatma (the Super soul, the form of the Lord situated in the heart). This practice culminates in Samadhi, full consciousness of the Supreme.

Chapter Seven: Knowledge of the Absolute.

Lord Krishna is the Supreme Truth, the supreme cause and sustaining force of everything, both material and spiritual. Advanced souls surrender unto Him in devotion, whereas impious souls divert their minds to other objects of worship.

Chapter Eight: Attaining the Supreme.

By remembering Lord Krishna in devotion throughout one's life, and especially at the time of death, one can attain to His supreme abode, beyond the material world.

Chapter Nine: The most confidential knowledge.

Lord Krishna is the Supreme Godhead and the supreme object of worship. The soul is eternally related to Him through transcendental devotional service (Bhakti). By reviving one's pure devotion one returns to Krishna in the spiritual realm.

Chapter Four: Transcendental knowledge.

Transcendental knowledge - the spiritual knowledge of the soul, of God, and of their relationship - is both purifying and liberating. Such knowledge is the fruit of selfless devotional action (karma-yoga). The Lord explains the remote history of the Gita, the purpose and significance of His periodic descents to the material world, and the necessity of approaching a guru, a realized teacher.

Chapter Five: Karma-yoga - Action in Krishna Consciousness.

Outwardly performing all actions but inwardly renouncing their fruits, the wise man, purified by the fire of transcendental knowledge, attains peace, detachment, forbearance, spiritual vision and bliss.

Chapter Sixteen: The Divine and Demoniac Natures.

Those who possess demoniac qualities and who live whimsically, without following the regulations of scripture, attain lower births and further material bondage. But those who possess divine qualities and live regulated lives, abiding by scriptural authority, gradually attain spiritual perfection.

Chapter Seventeen: The Divisions of Faith.

There are three types of faith, corresponding to and evolving from the three modes of material nature. Acts performed by those whose faith is in passion and ignorance yield only impermanent, material results, whereas acts performed in goodness, in accord with scriptural injunctions, purify the heart and lead to pure faith in Lord Krishna and devotion to Him.

Chapter Eighteen: Conclusion - The Perfection of Renunciation.

Krishna explains the meaning of renunciation and the effects of the modes of nature on human consciousness and activity. He explains Brahman realization, the glories of the Bhagavad-Gita, and the ultimate conclusion of the Gita: the highest path of religion is absolute, unconditional loving surrender unto Lord Krishna, which frees one from all sins, brings one to complete enlightenment, and enables one to return to Krishna's eternal spiritual abode.

Chapter One: Observing the Armies on the Battlefield of Kurukshetra.

As the opposing armies stand poised for battle, Arjuna, the mighty warrior, sees his intimate relatives, teachers and friends in both armies ready to fight and sacrifice their lives. Overcome by grief and pity, Arjuna fails in strength, his mind becomes bewildered, and he gives up his determination to fight.

Chapter Two: Contents of the Gita summarized.

Arjuna submits to Lord Krishna as His disciple, and Krishna begins His teachings to Arjuna by explaining the fundamental distinction between the temporary material body and the eternal spiritual soul. The Lord explains the process of transmigration, the nature of selfless service to the Supreme and the characteristics of a self-realized person.

Chapter Three: Karma-yoga.

Everyone must engage in some sort of activity in this material world. But actions can either bind one to this world or liberate one from it. By acting for the pleasure of the Supreme, without selfish motives, one can be liberated from the law of karma (action and reaction) and attain transcendental knowledge of the self and the Supreme.

They call renunciation, O son of Pandu, know to be yoga, for truly one who has not renounced desire cannot become a yogi.

Thus always practicing that which leads to nirvana, one who is a yogi, whose mind is always controlled, abides in Me and attains peace.

A person is said to be elevated in yoga when,having renounced all material desires,he neither acts for sense gratification nor engages in fruitive activities.

For him who has conquered the mind,the mind is the best of friends;but for one who has failed 2 do so,his mind will remain the greatest enemy.

From wherever the mind wanders due to its flickering & unsteady nature,one must certainly withdraw it & bring it back under the control of the self.

He who is regulated in his habits of eating,sleeping,recreation & work can mitigate all material pains by practicing the yoga system.

One must deliver himself with the help of his mind & not degrade himself.The mind is the friend of the conditioned soul & his enemy as well.

A yogi is greater than the ascetic,greater than the empiricist & greater than the fruitive worker.Therefore,O Arjuna,in all circumstances,b a yogi.

As a lamp in a windless place doesn't waver,so the transcendentalist,whose mind is controlled,remains always steady in his meditation on the transcendent self.

For one who is a neophyte in the eightfold yoga system, work is said to be the means.

When one is not attached to sense objects or activities and has renounced all desire, such a person is said to have ascended to yoga.

For one who has conquered the self, the self is a friend. However for one whose mind is not conquered, the self is the greatest enemy.

One who sees Me everywhere and sees everything in Me, from such a one I do not disappear nor is that person ever lost from Me.

One who worships Me as abiding within all beings attains unity in every way. Such a person is a true yogi and always abides in Me.

Lord Krishna:
Those miscreants who are deluded, who are lowest among mankind, whose knowledge is stolen by illusion, follow the ways of demons.

Lord Krishna:
O Arjuna, 4 kinds of pious men worship "ME". The distressed, The desire of wealth the inquisitive, And he who is searching for knowledge of the absolute.

Lord Krishna:
Noble indeed are all these, but the wise man, I deem, as my very Self; for, steadfast in mind he is established in "Me" alone as the Supreme Goal.

Lord Krishna:
Of these, the one who is in full knowledge & who is always engaged in devotional service is the best. For I am very dear to him, and he is dear to Me.
