Well, Easter is around the corner so we thought we could have some Easter Eggs… the non chocolate variety! Here’s the info :

Easter Egg Wall Stickers : 19 decorative eggs that can be used as easter decoration and an egg hunt for the children.

Place the eggs wherever you please, on windows, doors, walls, inside cupboard doors etc. Let the kids search until they’ve counted all of them. It’s also a good way of avoiding (or having a break from) that indulgent chocolate spree.

Wall stickers are ideal for Christmas. They are temporary and can add that splash of festive colour to brighten up any room. Now we would say that of course (as we make them!), but each member of the Spin Collective team use them each year and always get great feedback.

Details of our new personalised word cloud wall sticker that can be totally personalised for any occasion. Shown here as a Mother’s day theme (which is Sunday 30th March in case you had forgotten!).

Product details :

Select your font from the 8 available and then select your chosen colour or colour scheme (see images for examples of both). Select the width of your word cloud (small 58cm wide, large 100cm wide). Finally type or paste your words into the box. Make the first word your most prominent and the next three your next prominent and then the rest of your words. There is a minimum of 10 words and a maximum of 40 words total. We will then make up your word cloud using the details provided. Pretty easy we think…..

Well, there’s no getting away from it. Love it or hate it, Christmas is coming!! Which leads me to details on some new Christmas wall stickers recently added to the site….

First up some Snowflake window film stickers. Semi opaque so they won’t block out the light. 46 in a pack ranging from 2.5cm to 6cm wide. Just a quick post as we had been sent a photo by Jake Jackson. Jake had bought a set of robot wall stickers but had a small problem in that he had mistakenly thought that the large robot arms were in fact extra robots.  It turns out his wife had been in charge of cutting the stickers ready. We’re not Swtizerland but we’re still not taking sides in laying the blame! Anyway, here’s the photo…..

As you can see the robot is armless (you may need a magnifying glass as I think I’ve resized the images a bit small!). In light of Jake’s problems we sent him some more arms and a couple of robots to fill the gaps and here’s how it ended up..

Much better and we think the room looks great! And here’s the obligatory link to our robot wall stickers and also our plane wall stickers! Remember, be careful out there in the world of sticker cutting.

Just to let you know….. we also do window film or window etch (or whatever you would like to call it – you know the frosted film effect that looks like etched glass!). We recently made some window film stickers for Best Place Inns in London. As you can see they are round pizza etch decals but we can also make conventional window film which covers the whole pane of glass (a variety of cutout designs can be added – e-mail us for details).

Well, in case you weren’t aware yet…. Christmas is nearly here!! (Did we hear a couple of groans there!?). To kickstart the festive season we have two new stickers. First up a personalised Christmas tree wall sticker measuring 100cm high. Customise the wording on the bottom two lines to make a unique design. Precut with the following words; star, joy, love, wishes, celebrate, christmas, happiness. Personalise the bottom line with your own phrase (10 – 24 characters), and then customise the 2nd line from bottom with a preset phrase: jingle bells, hot mince pies, mulling wine, singing carols, santa stop here, mistletoe kiss, turkey & sprouts, holly and ivy, reindeer hooves, dreaming of snow, our first xmas and roast chestnuts.

Just a quick update as we mentioned Pinterest on our last post (Google+). For anyone new to Pinterest, you can follow us here. If you aren’t already on there then give it a go, it’s quite addictive. What, you’re already on enough social sites…? Well, we hear you but Pinterest is a visual tool so you don’t have to do a lot of typing. It’s ideal for projects or mood boards where you can collate all your images that you find in one place (like an online scrapbook). It’s great for things like collating themes for doing up different rooms in the house and there’s also loads of cool geeky stuff (not that we’re geeks of course!). 3 new wall stickers added this week and I can’t find a link between them. Well, it was actually 4 but the 4th is a set of reindeers and we don’t want to start banging on about Christmas already ! Anyway, first up we have an Apple chalkboard (which is pretty self explanatory), then a Cocktail wall sticker set featuring a couple of cocktail glasses and the instructions/ingredients for a Cosmopolitan (one of our favourites) and a Margarita (well, we’ll drink anything!). Lastly we have a spiral staircase wall decal which can be altered to suit the height of the wall! We hope you like them! p.s an update on the reindeer nearer Christmas!

Another quick post as we’ve been sent this photo by Rebecca at the National Trust Shop at Cliveden. As you can see they have used our coat rack wall sticker (with hooks) to add a working wall sticker to their layout. We think it looks great (well, we would say that!).

We’re all individuals, so it goes without saying that most of us like to celebrate this fact in all aspects of life. When we’re updating a room or even just adding something new we all seem to strive to add something personal that says ‘this is me’ or ‘this is what I like’ or even ‘this is the statement I want to make’. Where is all this leading… well i’m sure you’ve guessed, but to be honest a great way to add some personalisation to your walls is a wall quote designed by yourself. Your text can be whatever you like, personal to you, a life quote, motivational quote or favourite film quote… this list is pretty endless. You can change the font, size and colour to match the scheme that you’ve chosen. We’ve done a quick mockup here with a few quotes as examples (I Love Gin is mine!). They are all done in grey vinyl and the fonts used from top to bottom are Earwig Factory, Campanile, Marketing Script, Honey Script and Rockwell. Right, we’ve never done a post on the use of a colour wheel and considering our wall stickers come in 20 colours it has occurred to us it might be useful!

Basically a colour wheel consists of the three primary colours – Red, Yellow and Blue. Then you have your secondary colours which are created when mixing equal amounts of primary colours… e.g Yellow + Red = Orange, Red + Blue = Purple and Yellow + Blue = Green. Finally we have the tertiary colours when a primary colour is mixed (2:1) with a secondary colour… Red-Orange, Blue-green… and so on.

That’s all well and good but what does that mean to you….!

Well, the colour wheel can be divided into cool and warm colours. These are self explanatory as in warm are the vibrant, energetic colours and the cool being the calm soothing colours.

There are lots of ways to use the colour wheel to create a colour scheme but we will go over the three most basic :

Complementary : Colours opposite each other on the colour wheel are complementary colours e.g purple and yellow. These colours provide a high impact maximum contrast effect.

Analogous : Colours that sit next to each other on the colour wheel are analogous colours. This creates a calm soothing effect and is usually made up of a dominant colour, a second supporting colour and a third accent colour.

Triadic : Colours that are evenly spaced around the colour wheel. These colours create a vibrant equality feel due to the varying colours and can be made up of a dominant colour with 2 supporting colours to compliment.

P.S On a final note… in addition to the above you can also use a single colour look using tones of a single colour and also use shades of black white and grey which can compliment any colour on the colour wheel.

You may ask why we’ve decided to write another post on feedback! Well, we wrote an article recently on all the positive feedback we had received last year (blows trumpet!) and really we’d love to say we’ve never had any of the negative. But occasionally we do… :S The fact of the matter is we can hold our hands up and say occasionally things don’t always quite go to plan. In a world of TripAdvisor, Feefo and various other websites/feedback systems which puts the power back in the consumers hands (which of course we think is right being consumers as well!), it must still be quite disheartening for small businesses to receive negative feedback. Anyway, to get to the point, what got us thinking was the attached image and the way they have dealt with the inevitable negative feedback but we love the way that they are still so confident in their product that they can put it back out there to show the world……

p.s If there is a problem with an order we will give 100% to ensure that the customer has a good experience with Spin Collective and our products, but of course if we don’t know if there’s a problem we can’t fix it!

Keeping up the new product output…. we have just added a complete new range (well only 4 so far!) – acrylic wall mirrors. Made from acrylic our mirrors are machine cut and can be used as a conventional mirror (unlike reflective vinyl/foil). Just apply your wall sticker then attach the mirror… easy! We enclose some double sided sticky tabs with each purchase.

The patriot……  our new Union Jack wall sticker to commemorate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee in June (not the Mel Gibson revisionist film!). It comes complete with working mechanism, just apply the wall sticker to the wall and attach the clock mechanism in the centre. Easy… even comes complete with an AA battery so you don’t have to scratch around in the generic household items draw (you know – the one with the sellotape and blu tack in it).

Well this one has been on the ‘to do list’ for about two years and now finally we’ve got round to making it! It’s a coat stand wall sticker complete with 2 real coat hooks and fixings. We’ve finally recovered from the Christmas rush (just about!) and so have taken stock of any feedback from the last few months. This has meant we have implemented some changes……

1. We’ve had a few bits of feedback that our postage is too high when buying our smaller sets! Unfortunately this is more of an average, covering the costs of a postal tube (still need one for the small sets), Royal Mail 1st class recorded delivery and associated costs (plus we do offer free delivery on orders over £50). Anyway, we’ve still taken this on board and managed to cut some costs and renegotiate things. So now our postage is £3.99! (UK ) and a flat rate £9.99 (Rest of the World).. All orders over £50 are  still free delivery.

2. A few people have been confused with our cheque payment option. We have redesigned the payment template and made the wording a lot clearer. Basically until you send us the cheque (…..and it’s cleared) we don’t send out the order!

3. VAT is now 20% on all of our wall stickers but we’ve managed to keep our prices the same. There are some price changes though but only 10 sets have increased with 11 sets actually reduced. Of the 10 sets increasing in price we have added value to 7 of the sets (with extra stickers).

4. We also have a new instruction sheet with some added info to make things simpler. We also plan on adding another instruction sheet for help in removing stickers when only being used temporarily (e.g. Christmas).

That’s about it for now, but we just want you to know that we do listen, so all feedback good and bad is appreciated………. (ummm not too much of the bad though!)

Well, we know Christmas comes around quickly………… but that was the fastest yet! Anyway, we normally just run a couple of Christmas wall stickers but thought this year we would offer a couple more, as well as a bit of value for stocking fillers and that extra elusive gift… cue our new Christmas wall sticker section.

In the new section we have a selection of christmas wall stickers as well as some mini value packs and some medium sized chalkboard stickers (they are in fact sized to also fit in kitchen cupboards – which is what we decided to use them for!). A few examples below with more on the site……….

From time to time we get asked for various help with wall sticker removal, application as well as general decorating questions. So here to help you (and to helps us keep all the tips in one place!) is the first of a few posts to help with the simple as well as the more difficult situations that may arise…

First up – removing wall stickers. Now, we know that wall stickers are easy to apply. But are they easy to remove? Well, the short answer to this is yes but the ease of removal can depend on many factors including the type / condition of the wall surface and also the length of time the wall sticker has been applied for…..

Removing from walls.

The key with vinyl wall sticker removal is keeping the paint intact underneath. If you pull too quickly the sticker will probably take some paint with it too.

1. Test the wall sticker by slowly pulling at a corner to see how stuck it is. In a lot of cases it will remove quite easily without leaving any damage to the paintwork.
2. If the sticker is firmly stuck then use a hairdryer (on a warm setting) to slowly heat the corner, then once it starts getting easier to peel, apply heat to the next area as you slowly remove the sticker.
3. Remain patient!
4. Usually with the heat removal there isn’t any residue but if there is try soapy water but if this doesn’t remove it then use an adhesive remover or even wd-40 / nail polish remover (always try a small area first to test it and use sparingly).

Removing from glass.

Unfortunately as wall stickers adhere so well to glass they can be a bit harder to remove but at least you don’t have to worry about paint coming off with it! If you have a diy glass scraper then this can also be used in conjunction with the points below.

1. Straight to the hair-dryer! Use a hairdryer on a warm setting, slowly heating the corner. Then keep applying heat to the area that you are peeling off until the whole sticker is removed.
2. Again, if there is any adhesive residue, try soapy water but if this doesn’t remove it then use an adhesive remover or even wd-40 / nail polish remover (always try a small area first to test it and use sparingly).

If you follow the above instructions then you won’t have a problem. Above all be patient!

We’re not a great fan at Spin Collective of testimonials plastered all over a website, but we are a fan of good customer service! And a quick post on the blog isn’t tacky.. right? Anyway, after all of us have worked and dealt with various companies where customer service is never a prority, we have vowed to do things differently here. Whether it’s just sending out a spare sticker for a ripped one or extra help with applying stickers, we are always happy to help. As we know one thing is certain and are well aware that without our customers then Spin Collective would be no more……

Anyway getting a bit carried away there, so here’s a few excerpts (and excerpt pictures made by us) from a few valued customers….!
