I am posting some recent quotes (re-posts) from some of my friends to which I am deeply indebted in that they have each so elonguently described many issues below that I could not do as well:

Here's THE TRUTH ABOUT NEWT !!

Newt Gingrich is the only clear conservative republican choice of substance in a race of inexperienced newcomers, well-meaning centrists, posers and the occasional lunatic.
Some say that Newt has a blemished past and "baggage". If they mean his marriages, then all should remember that Ronald Reagan fell in love with Nancy before he was divorced from Jane - and he and Nancy were clearly devoted as could be to each other to the end - and Reagan's own liberal kids pretty much hated him and said so publicly. Reagan was human and as such imperfect as is all of mankind (after original sin specifically if that is your faith). Yet for all that, Reagan was unquestionably the finest President in the 20th century. His charm, plain brilliance and sparkling, genuine enthusiasm for the greatness of this country led this nation out of a dark and self-loathing liberal past and made America proud - even joyous - to be America again. If we're looking for perfection we're in trouble, because human perfection is only in Jesus Christ, and the last I heard, He isn't running. And if anyone has baggage, it's coke-snorting, communist befriending, ACORN -endorsing, nude-mother-picture-having, fake-birth-certificate-posting, economy-ruining, teleprompter-needing, 57-United-States-visiting, Larry-Sinclair-allegedly-sex-having (alleged by Sinclair himself), Crazy-racist-pastor-loving, never-having-dated-before-Michelle-manifesting, Muslim/Christian/Marxist Barack Obama. I wouldn't worry too much about the "baggage factor". By all means, bring it on. Compared to most politicians, Newt almost qualifies for sainthood.

Some are citing a TV ad from ten years ago that Newt made with ultra-liberal Nancy Pelosi and trying to create the most shallow and intellectually dishonest smear-by- association campaign perhaps ever seen in the history of politics. At that time global warming was thought to be a threat. Newt was obviously asked to appear in the ad to help America and always the patriot, he did (even Reagan was a rugged environmentalist who loved his unspoiled western vistas). To those conservatives who have been so driven to reactionary paranoia by the left that they see Newt appearing in an ad with Pelosi as an act of conservative blasphemy, let me remind them that Ronald Reagan used to publicly laugh, be gracious to and shake hands with uber-liberal Tip O'Neal like they were old chums before going into a back room and giving O'Neal the political spanking of his life. No one called Reagan a conservative traitor for that the way some are are attempting to do with Newt Gingrich. Get a grip - Newt has poured scathing verbal acid over Pelosi and her incompetent liberal leadership so many times that the scars of those attacks may well be what he perceive as her botox injections. There is no one running remotely as conservative and determined to be conservative as Newt.

The liberal media did not try to destroy Newt totally when he was speaker and doing great, successful conservative things because he was in any way compromised toward liberalism.

Newt is the only candidate who could not only beat Obama in a debate, but utterly decimate him in a debate, and we desperately need that, because with the media fully behind Obama, we can afford to take no chances. The debates will be everything in 2012, because it will be the only time outside of Fox News that America gets to see the GOP candidate without liberal spin.

The finest candidate without question is directly in front of us in the form of Newt Gingrich: experienced like no other, knowledgeable like no other, articulate like no other, and completely prepared to strike back devastatingly against the left-wing media when it tries to play its usual unconscionable, biased and prejudiced tricks, and it will attempt to destroy whoever the GOP nominee is - we're crazy if we think moderation or skin color will placate them. When Sarah Palin entered the national stage she did so as a bright, successful, popular and beautiful governor who was equally at home in the rugged wilderness as she was in the halls of power. They destroyed her because she did not know how to fight back. They hate us and we need someone who will fight back against the media and win. We have seen flashes where every other GOP candidate has had their deer-in-the-headlights moment in front of the nation when the media played a gotcha trick and the GOP candidate momentarily seemed to apologize to the media for even being born. When the liberal reporters pull gotcha questions on Newt, he reduces them to rubble with positively withering condemnations which are entirely successful. There is perhaps only one person politically active at all who can successfully do that, and that's Newt Gingrich.

Newt Gingrich is clearly offering his service in a thankless job certain to leave him living a life for eight years of prejudiced left-wing attacks and dishonest liberal mockery and Newt is doing so unquestionably out of one motivation: patriotic duty for his country, which he rightfully understands better than anyone is on the edge of genuinely irreparable harm. Of that there can be no question.

Experience, articulation, knowledge, forceful personality, humor and unmatched proven political ability to lead this country against a liberal/socialist administration and media and win. If we do not take him up on his generous offer to avail ourselves of his unquestionable experience and proven ability we're simply disconnected to those things necessary to make an intelligent decision, because no other candidate comes up to his show-tops in proven national experience and ability, having himself balanced the federal - not state - budget as Speak of the House, a position only two steps away from the Presidency itself. We're crazy if we don't take him up on his offer to serve us, beat Barack Obama as only he can on the debate stage and fix this country before its too late.

NEWT GINGRICH BEING PORTRAYED AS A NEGATIVE WASHINGTON INSIDER

The charge is bogus.
Many people aligned with the Tea Party are obviously furious at Washington for having mismanaged the country and allowing it to be mismanaged. I'm one of them. Many of those people claim that because Newt was Speaker of the House, a position only two steps away from the Presidency itself, that Newt is automatically smeared with that same "corrupt" brush regardless of his political history and achievement and that is shallow, stupid and unrealistic.

Newt being a Washington insider doesn't make him any more of an establishment advocate than someone moving to the deep south to take a job makes that person in any way a klan member. The question is what do you do AS an insider? Newt has fought for conservative causes with more pure determination than anyone a person can think of. So much so that the leftist media made Newt the target of targets when he was Speaker, proof positive of his conservative credentials if anyone needs any. He has proven he can balance a federal budget and will. He can fight the media and does. He can expose corruption and has. He can fight the liberal democrats with the sharpest words imaginable and has done so on a tireless, decades-long crusade for all things Conservative and reasonable. That kind of experience and proven ability is critical and essentially unique to Newt. Some people call Washington insiders "slick" like Clinton. I don't think Newt is slick at all. Just the opposite - I think he's blunt - but brilliant. And God bless him for it because he's proven over and over and over that he is on the conservative side.

Those claiming that Newt is in any way corrupted by his time in Washington are taking the intellectually easy way out - blaming a person for spending time in a geographic location and paying no attention to that person's personal achievement while being there. As employers looking to hire a President, such people are being woefully inept as personnel managers. Those particular tea party villagers - though diminishing in number - who go racing after a falsehood of Newt's political reputation with torches and pitchforks might do well to slow down and understand that the castle they are threatening to burn down is indeed their own.

NEWT GINGRICH AND HERMAN CAIN TO SQUARE OFF IN ONE-ON-ONE DEBATE. NOVEMBER 5 - Handicapping The Players and the Larger Strategy ~
Having heard Newt wanting Lincoln/Douglas-style debates, and being dissatisfied with the superficial quality of the debates thus far, The Texas Tea Party Patriots organization has invited Newt and Cain to a debate in the Lincoln-Douglas style, which is otherwise known... for having a format of 3 hours with only someone watching the clock - no moderator, and in this instance with Rep Steve King (R, Iowa) as the emcee. The important news is that both have accepted.

The suggestions recently of Lincoln/Douglas-style debates was a brilliant move on Newt's part - and one can easily imagine Newt casually suggesting suggested the idea to to the Texas Tea Party - because he knows he'll positively demolish anyone in that format, especially Cain who can't even get his 9's and abortion position right (Clips of Cain's embarrassingly perplexing explanations can be found elsewhere on a thread on this board). No one doubts what a devastating debater Newt is so this is going to be like taking candy from a baby. The Lincoln/Douglas-style debates is the genius Newt will use to dismantle Obama if he is the GOP nominee: Cut through the sound-bite sales pitch and get the guy on-depth and substance one-on-one on a stage for hours, where he can lay waste to his opponent.

One can take an educated guess at Newt's larger (and if so brilliant) strategy from this move which is an opportunity for which one can only assume Newt has been hoping and negotiating: he's going to finish off Cain to get him and his sound-bites out of the way quickly so he can move on and square off more directly against Romney, slowly take him down and get the nomination. We forget how surgical Newt can be because he's such a nice guy - as illustrated by not attacking his fellow Republicans in the larger debates. But as his time as Speaker of the House showed, where he out-maneuvered the democrat establish time and again and came up the winner, he's so good at political chess-playing it's amazing, and we need that because with this country in dire straights, only a brilliant intellect can get us out of the national and international mess we're in.

Cain is extremely ill-advised to accept the debate challenge, of course, but it's too late, now. If he backs out, Newt will advertise the fact and win in the public eye by default. If Cain gets on that stage, no amount of preparation can help him because he's simply manifestly hopelessly out of his depth. Look for Cain to try to diffuse the severity of the damage off-the-top of the debate by saying something like, "I may not be as articulate with words as Newt, but I'm a real man who has lived in the real world". No doubt Newt will counter with a gracious remark about his friend Herman, and then follow with something like, "But if a President cannot articulate his positions better than those who would stand against his country, then how can he lead a nation back to success and prosperity?" It's all downhill for Cain from there.

Newt will destroy Cain. After the first hour the only thing left for Cain is the sympathy vote. The only thing going for Cain will be extremely low expectations, but if Newt kills him with kindness, that move will sidestep that concern and leave Cain devastated on the issues, at which point no sound bite can save him, poor though Cain's recent sound bites have been.

Then it's on to a debate challenge and dismantling Romney, and that will be the one to watch. Romney will have some glib prepared responses, but if the debate goes for an hour or more, Romney is ruined, also. No fool at survival, however, expect Romney to turn down the debate offer, posturing as respectful to the other candidates "who also need to be heard equally because we're a fair country". Translation: "Newt will destroy me on substance and as long as this stage is filled with a lot of other people eating up the clock I can continue to subsist on sound bites, some good superficial genes and brylcreem". That is no escape, though, and will catch up to Romney in the following larger debate when Newt calls Romney out for not having the same courage that Herman Cain had and respect for the American people to allow the American people to hear the candidates demonstrate their knowledge and ideas in-depth as opposed to easy-for-the-politican soundbites. Expect that to be a big applause line, because conservatives are nothing if not addicted to reality and the detailed facts. Net Result: Newt ten, Romney zero.

And eventually, the one we're all really waiting to see with Newt as the well-earned GOP presidential nominee: Newt vs Obama. In a Lincoln/Douglas-style debate, Newt will dispense with Obama's prepared sound bites and after graciously saying that in Obama's mind Obama is doing the right things, will then positively obliterate him, because Newt won't need to be nice to Obama because Obama has been notoriously obnoxious and sarcastic to everyone he doesn't like and the whole nation knows it. With the precision of a nuclear surgeon and the devastation of a nuclear bomb, Newt will leave Obama at best appearing to be a snotty and unlikeable teenage jerk who showed up late for class and no excuse for not having his homework. And then he's done.

The whole outlook for our country suddenly got many times brighter the moment Cain accepted that debate invitation because there is nothing to roll back the above-scenario now that Cain has accepted the debate offer. The presidency is now Newt's to lose.

I will grant you that this article is indeed predicated on a sizable amount of well-considered assumption, and the landscape of politics is such that you can rely on supporters of anyone but Newt to quote the first seventeen words of this particular sentence more than anything else in this article. However, just for fun you may want to print this out, keep it handy and cross off the things to come to pass in the next several months. In my mind, this whole string of events became instantly apparent the moment I read that Cain accepted the invitation to a Lincoln/Douglas-style one-on-one debate with Newt, unless, that is, unless Newt does not want to debate Romney and Obama in Lincoln/Douglas-style debates which seems unlikely since it was Newt himself who suggested it.

I think the string of dominoes as described above is for all intents and purposes truly inevitable with Newt emerging as President unless Newt decides otherwise. That's what I think.

If you are all extremely angry, and disappointed, not to say the least, FRUSTRATED with our government ....
WELL, the basic problem which I've stated many times before, REMAINS:
"No one in their right mind, or worth their salt wants to work in the corrupt cesspool of politics....even if they had tons of money; much less those that have to "prostitute" themselves for it!
So...sure....lets find a sharp person who has solid principles and is willing to face insane scrutiny of themselves and their family!"
Even if we could find one ...or even a few of them....WE NEED A MAJORITY TO GET ANYTHING ACCOMPLISHED....and remove (bypass) the corrupt old style politicans that have plagued our broken system.

and THEN you have the problem of "EDUCATING THE IGNORANT MASSES WHO BASICALLY REFUSE TO PARTICIPATE IN RESPONSIBLE CITIZENSHIP !!!
Yeah, mostly those who are too busy with their personal lives; while 47% pay no income taxes and most enjoy relying on their handouts & entitlements. Just look, over 40~% still support Obama along with his mainstream media and most of the liberal-oriented Hollywood celebrities!!

Sure....that is a HARSH comment!! But, it unfortunately describes much of our current situation!

The Republicans have apparently chosen to put all their "eggs" into the sole effort called the "Ryan Plan"....the only "plan" out of the gate !!!
Stupid?? Yes, even early signs of election backfiring has shown itself in the NY26 upset !! It is obvious this plan needs work, further inputs and better explanations.

The Democrats, however, simply choose to ignore everything and won't even make an effort to put forth their own "plan" !!!?? Chickenshit?? You bet....they'd rather just beat up on anyone "opening their mouth" with real ideas!! Shrewd?...maybe.
I say just "Chickenshit" !!

SO NOW WHAT ????

Ryan's Plan probs:
One of the dissident Republicans was Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, who objects that Ryan's plan — which would not balance the budget for decades — is not a serious response to fiscal challenges facing the country.
Other opposition:
Furthermore, it does not "reform" or "improve" Medicare. The congressman's voucher scheme ...prepares the way for the popular and necessary program's elimination in any form that Americans have understood or appreciated it. Instead of steering public funds toward the care of the elderly, the Ryan plan steers the elderly — via vouchers — into the clutches of the for-profit insurance companies that make their money by denying care to the sick, the disabled and the vulnerable elderly. At best, this plan would need a "transition" period to give seniors a "choice" between the standard Medicare and the New Voucher system...to see if it even works right!!
Simply put....Ryan's Plan needs serious WORK

So what in the hell am I doing supporting the idea of NEWT GINGRICH?

Well, FIRST:
I am a REALIST in the fact that there will be NO "magical candidate" to suddenly appear who will unite the fracturing components of the Republican Party, Tea Party, Republican Liberty Caucus, Independents, Centrist-right majorities.

There will NOT be a direct, forthright-speaking candidate who talks to us like adults and not as a babbling, double-talking politican!

SECOND:
We will have to pick from the BEST of the FIELD we have!! They ALL have some faults, baggage, lack of experience, too much experience, or whatever you want to call it!!
You will NEVER find a candidate that you agree with 100% of times on 100% of the issues!

THIRD:
We MUST support the candidate who CAN BEAT OBAMA!!

We all know that Obama is a slick-talking political organizer who "talked his way" into office without any "due diligence or vetting" by the proper authorities. He "snowed" too many people with his slogans of "change" and "transparency"!!

Unfortunately, the mainstream media, the Hollywood crowd, and financially powerful lobbyists continue to cover up his "FAILURES"!

He now, again, tries to bolster up his sagging position by a re-vitalized effort in catering to the dependent, down-trodden minorities who see him as a their continued means of support and benefits!

The ONLY way to combate this is by EXPOSING HIM!!.....IN FRONT OF THE CAMERAS!! This can and will be done in the inevitable DEBATES that will come between OBAMA & NEWT!!! The other candidates just don't have the quick factual intellect nor the political experience to show up Obama for what he really is!! Newt has SPECIFIC WORKABLE SOLUTIONS THAT MAKE SENSE....ON ALL ISSUES !! (Learn more: http://www.newt.org/)

POLITICS...the art of "RE-ELECTION & SELF PRESERVATION"

WHAT'S NEXT ?? ..... More compromise ?

John Ransom, a Townhall columnist recently said in reference to the budget cutting compromise:
"That’s the way our system was designed; for gradual change, not revolution. For those who feel the revolution has been betrayed somehow, I caution that revolutions in American politics are slow, fitful things that are evolutionary not revolutionary."
As he goes on to admit "For the first time in 46 years Congress has actually reduced the level of spending year-over-year. Without voters making it absolutely clear in townhall meetings, rallies and protests that they are taxed enough already, we’d be looking at higher spending most certainly."

So, we should be satisfied....Right ??

Well, this means that, at that rate .....if we had another 46 years, I can assume we would get another similar cut?? Hmmm?? Think about that!!??

Erik Erickson of Redstate explains: "the GOP is getting $38.5 billion in total cuts for the year. Additionally, of the $38.5 billion in cuts, several folks on the Hill tell me that $12 billion is from readjusting baselines in the budget and are mostly smoke."

But we’ll take it, I guess??

........"For perspective, the federal government spends $10.46 billion a day.
The Democrats and Republicans have now come together to cut out just under 4 days worth of spending out of 365 days."

He goes on to say:
...."For a year now the Republicans and Democrats have told us we have serious problems and need serious solutions. They’ve told us we have a serious budget deficit crisis.
However, on Friday night the two parties came together and decided the crisis they’ve been telling us about really isn’t worth dealing with." ......certainly not now anyway !!!

So, WHEN, I ask ????

Lorita Doan another Townhall columnist had it right when she said "Balancing the federal budget will require deep cuts to non-performing programs and will require changes to the existing budgeting process in future years." ......

so again, I ask.....WHEN do we do this ???

Allowing "our system" to work its way through whatever gradual change some think is acceptable is simply NOT AN OPTION !!!

In USA Today, Speaker Boehner says The Path to Prosperity “is a powerful blueprint for economic growth and fiscal responsibility that will help our economy get back to creating jobs, stop Washington from spending money we don't have, and lift the crushing burden of debt that threatens our children and grandchildren.” And in the Weekly Republican Address, Chairman Ryan explains how “this budget is a jobs budget.”

And so, the rhetoric continues.....but what do we really know now?

Well, for starters, we know that the Dems still think "cutting" is not spending (or "investing") at the same increased rate that they have been; and that its still OK for wage earners (especially wealthy ones, who work harder) to pay for the needs of those who do not; and that Repubs can be made to "blink" when the time comes.
We've also come to understand that both political parties....especially the leaderships, still practice the age-old art of SELF-PRESERVATION "POLITICS" in that RE-ELECTION IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN STANDING FOR ANY REAL PRINCIPLES or representing "WE THE PEOPLE"....BECAUSE THAT'S THE WASHINGTON WAY!

He knows exactly what he's doing.

He is purposely overwhelming the U.S. economy to create systemic failure through economic crisis and social chaos -- thereby destroying capitalism and our country from within.

This so-called “peace president” starts wars without declaration.
The TSA "gropes and scans" while local agriculture is threatened.
Mandates, regulations and bailouts never seem to end while the Fed prints, and prints…and prints.

WHILE....OBAMA hides his "real" original Birth Certificate with a Doctor & Hospital signature verification.....along with most of his personal information regarding education & associations.
Nothing suspicious there, right !? Hmmmm...???

AND....YES !!
He is a devout Muslim; Do not be fooled !!

As Glenn Beck correctly predicted from day one, Barack Hussien Obama is following the plan of Cloward & Piven (two professors at Columbia University). They outlined a plan to socialize America by overwhelming the system with government spending and entitlement demands.
It is a brilliant Machiavellian game plan to turn the United States into a socialist/Marxist state with a permanent majority that desperately needs government for survival ... and can be counted on to always vote for bigger government.

Universal health care . The health care bill had very little to do with health care. It had everything to do with unionizing millions of hospital and healthcare workers, as well as adding 15,000 to 20,000 new IRS agents (who will join government employee unions).
Obama doesn't care that giving free health care to 30+ million Americans (illegal or otherwise) will add trillions to the national debt.
What he does care about is that it cements the dependence of those 30+ million voters to Democrats and big government. Who but a socialist revolutionary would pass this reckless spending bill in the middle of a depression?

Cap and Trade.
Like health care legislation having nothing to do with health care, "Cap & Trade" has nothing to do with global warming.
But it has everything to do with redistribution of income, government control of the economy, and a payoff to Obama's biggest contributors such as GE, (which owns NBC, MSNBC and CNBC) along with the biggest labor Unions and many more.

Make Puerto Rico a state.... Why?
Who's asking for a 51st state?
Who's asking for millions of new welfare recipients and government entitlement addicts in the middle of a depression?
Certainly not American taxpayers. But Obama's plan is to add two new Democrat senators, five Democrat congressmen
and a million or so loyal Democratic voters who are, again, dependent on big government.

Legalize 12+ million illegal Mexican immigrants.
Just giving these 12+ million potential new citizens free health care alone could overwhelm the system and bankrupt America; but it also adds 12+ million more reliable new Democrat voters who can be counted on to support big government. Then add another few trillion dollars in welfare, aid to dependent children, food stamps, free medical, education, tax credits for the poor, and eventually Social Security.

Stimulus and bailouts.... Where did all that money go?
It went, of course, to Democrat contributors; organizations like ACORN, and unions like SEIU -- including billions of dollars to save or create jobs of government employees across the country.
It went to save GM and Chrysler so that their employees could keep paying union dues.

It went to AIG so that Goldman Sachs could be bailed out (after giving Obama almost $1 million in contributions).
A staggering $125 billion went to teachers (thereby protecting their union dues).
All done so that those public employees will vote loyally Democrat to protect their bloated salaries and pensions that are bankrupting America.
The country goes broke & future generations face a bleak future; but Obama's administration (big government), the Democrat Party, and the complicit unions grow more powerful.

The ends justify the means.

Raise taxes on small business owners, high-income earners, and job creators.
Put the entire tax & spend burden on only the top 20 percent of taxpayers, redistribute the income, punish success, and reward those who did nothing to deserve it (except voting for Obama).

Is it National Security or National In-security??

I agree with having the Congressional hearings initiated by Rep King as a matter of examining national defense and security issues; its definately needed!! ... We certainly need to protect ourselves by solving the increased threat from radical muslim terrorist infiltration via promotion of Sharia Law especially right here in our own country!!
Much of the problems stem from our insistence to be "politically correct"!! If we just stood up for our American principles and laws, there would not be the sense of "panic" that seems to prevail nowadays!

I also regret, however, to see that too many of us jump to the "islamophobic conclusion" that all Muslims are radicals and follow Sharia Law! It's similar to the same mistake we made with Japanese-American citizens being interned in prisons right here in their own country "in the heat of the moment" right after the Pearl Harbor attack! ....and the onset of "McCarthyism"!

Those that refuse to acknowledge or accept that there is a peaceful
version of the Muslim faith (WITHOUT Sharia and WITHOUT the principle of "erradicating the infidel" aka "Western culture") are as wrong as those they wish to stop.
It is a given FACT that there are (and have been) peaceful Muslim-Americans co-existing for years....despite some wishing otherwise !
AND YES, THERE IS A MUSLIM RELIGION....even though many these days are promoting and using it as a means to promulgate a political & social ideology!

The issue is really: Stopping the spread of RADICAL ISLAM & THE PRACTICE OF SHARIA LAW, while still defending our American way of life and simultaneously preserving our American principles of freedom of religion!...

FIRST UP: Social Security

1. Raise the beginning eligibility age to 68....same for Medicare coverage.....for all persons who are now 50 or younger.
Make it 70 for those 40 or younger. Take away the upper limit payroll deduction restrictions for Social Security contributions.

2. Setup Social Security contributions to go into privately/personally-held funds which are restricted until eligible for withdraw.

3. Make it "means test" sensitive. That is, benefits are able to be received based on an income/asset qualification until reaching age 75....at which time, then all funds become available.

NEXT: Medicaid/Food Stamps and similar "welfare programs" such as Unemployment benefits

1. Make ALL these programs time-limited for specific periods of time only! Make all programs also subject to co-pays AND based on a "means test".

2. Make all programs subject to proper verification and monitoring by case workers (hire more case workers if needed). Include periodic testing of the "means" test as well as honest participation in self-help (work-seek, rehab) efforts. Include drug testing as necessary.

NOW WAS IT REALLY THAT BAD...OR UNFAIR??

FREEZING THE DEBT LIMIT DOES NOT REQUIRE A DEFAULT !!!!

This has become one of the most absurd "SCARE TACTICS" used by the Washington establishment in years!!!

It's like my saying to you...."I'm not going to give you an increase in your allowance"....and then you say to me
"Well, then I'm not going to pay on any of my bills because I don't have enough for ALL of it"

Since when have you had to run your own household like that??
Has anyone not heard of "PRIORITIZING" bills?? Pay the necessities, leave out the lesser important items. Period!

Sen. Patrick Toomey’s (R-PA) “Full Faith and Credit Act,” (S 163) would ensure that the U.S. government does not default on its debt by requiring the Treasury to prioritize payments on the debt in case the debt ceiling is not raised.
Also - U.S. Sen. David Vitter recently introduced an amendment to this legislation that would require that if the U.S. does reach its debt limit.... Social Security benefits for seniors and such debt commitments will be the top priorities to be paid before paying any other obligations.

Another excerpt from Tom Diemer's article in POLITICS DAILY describes:
"There's always a little political theater around this," Geithner told the Times. The White House wants a clean bill -- that is, one that raises the debt limit with no riders attached. If the House adds conditions, the Senate, still run by Democrats could try to rip them out.
But in a game of chicken -- as the government starts to run out of money -- Republicans may use Obama's past words against him, the Times said.
In 2006, with the GOP in charge at the White House and on Capitol Hill, then-Sen. Barack Obama voted against the Bush administration's request to raise the debt limit. The bill passed on a party line vote. Obama said: "The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure... Leadership means that the buck stops here."

"In September, Republicans pledged to repeal ObamaCare if elected to the majority in the House. In Novemeber you spoke clearly. This week, we passed a repeal bill.

Repeal was only the first part of our pledge. We also made a promise to replace ObamaCare with patient-centered reforms that would reduce cost and expand access to health insurance.

Yesterday, I introduced the Health Care Choice Act. The bill has the support of Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton and the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Health, Joe Pitts. Over seventy other Members of the House have joined me in co-sponsoring the bill.

For decades, state borders have created artificial barriers to competition in the health care market. By allowing consumers to purchase health insurance across state lines, the Health Care Choice Act helps to dissolve those barriers.

Here is how the Health Care Choices Act will work to bring down the price of health insurance: Today, when Tennesseans buy health insurance, they are paying for all the coverage requirements that the state insurance commissioner mandates insurers doing buisness in Tennessee must offer. Those mandates vary from state to state.

If you are a young person out buying insurance for the first time, you probably don't need a plan that covers hip replacements. Likewise, if you are a retiree looking for a good policy, you wouldn't be interested in one that offers neonatal care or covers in vitro fertilization treatments. However both the young professional and the new retiree must carry those benefits if the state where they live mandates them.

The Health Care Choice Act allows you to to go online, or to an insurance agent, to shop for a policy that meets your needs- even if that policy is offered in another state. That policy might also have addtitional coverage you need that isn't mandated in your home state.

The Health Care Choice Act expands the health insurance marketplace beyond state lines and gives insurance companies an incentive to compete for your buisness. We all know that competition reduces cost, expands options, and increases efficency.

Competition is what makes the Health Care Choice Act a better approach than ObamaCare. ObamaCare creates national mandates for all health insurance policies, driving up costs for everyone. At the same time ObamaCare mandates that everyone carry a health insurance policy- even if they don't need or want the coverage offered.

The bet ObamaCare makes is the near-term expenses incurred through these mandates will be made up by the long-term savings once everyone is in the insurance pool. Tennessee tried that approach through TennCare and it nearly bankrupted the state.

The Health Care Choice Act introduces competition instead of mandates. That competition will reduce costs and expand access. It will give Americans the coverage they need at a price they want to pay. That is a promise that ObamaCare won't ever deliver on."

The TIME HAS COME !!!

It all boils down to interpretations of the various clauses of the Constitution.

As Antifederalists, often led by Patrick Henry, had grave reservations that certain clauses in the Constitution like the "general welfare" clause would be too "liberally" interpreted, and eventually lead to a tyrannical government in the hands of the wrong people..... the Bill of Rights and subsequent amendments came to being.

Even the First Amendment where Congress "shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof".......is entirely twisted around to essentially prohibit one's exercise of any religion in a public manner...despite the fact that Christianity was the most important factor in shaping the Colonies.
When the country was founded....it was essentially made up of Puritans, Quakers, and Virginians (or Aristocrats). All three were certainly quite diverse, and yet each colony was quite adamant (and vigilant) against the interference of their religious rights (and freedoms) by the other! So, began the quest to formulate a government which would allow each to openly practice these rights without restriction or interference from each other nor from any "central" government. Hence the insistence of STATES RIGHTS !! In other words, it did not grant powers to the central government to interfere in the church-state relations as decided upon by any of the states individually.

Even the Civil War (or War Between the States ...as it more accurately was).....was not over slavery, but over the States Rights to secede.
The legal basis for secession (or States Rights) is found in the Tenth amend. which leaves any powers not delegated to the States....to the States.....thus, since there is no power given to suppress secession; so it remains a right reserved to the States.

Look at the Commerce Clause.....how all encompassing they have tried to make this become!! Just ridiculous!!

Even the 14th Amend....giving US citizenship to babies who "just happen" to be born on U.S. land....EVEN ILLEGALLY!!
How crazy is that!!!.....no one seems to pay attention to the words "and under the jurisdiction of"; nor do they look to the original intent under which this Amendment was adopted.

As you can see, constitutional interpretations, today, have long been slaughtered, mutilated, and essentially disfigured to protect powerful politicians, special interest groups, etc. It is destroying our Republic and the "freedoms" we once had !!

Mostly due to the creation and development of the "Nanny State" arising from a gradual deterioration of Individual responsibilty, morality and family values!!

With some promise of hope showing on the horizon as a result of Tea Party and Conservative Patriotism gains in the Nov 2, 2010 elections, we have reason to be CAUTIOUSLY OPTIMISTIC !!!

As many bloggers are now busy forecasting the next events....
all Washington and the Nation waits to see whether "newly-elected Tea Party-supported" candidates, now duly-elected politicians, WILL change and DO WHAT THEY CAMPAIGNED ON?? They have been warned to act like "adults" on tough votes involving the federal debt, government over-spending, tax reform, Obamacare, entitlement reforms, upholding the Constitution and stopping government's "over-reaching" policies....(some are already showing weak stomachs under the onslaught of entrenched lobbyists). Others have already been called out as hypocrites for consorting with Wall Street types and/or indulging in continued pork-barrel spending.

So.....it won't be too long before we will see how far the "trust" goes!
Will the Republican Party find that true "energizing" leader that will keep them on track and performing up to hopes and expectations of the now "not-so-silent majority"??

Will a THIRD Political Party be in the offing should the Republicans fail again and show signs of crumbling under the weight of a still-broken, poorly-performing Congress?

Perhaps, as some believe (and wish), that some kind of merger amongst Tea Party groups, moderate Libertarians, Right-leaning Conservatives and other Independents will be the default result!?

Well, we all know TAX REFORM is needed!
And for those willing to "turn the page" and think "Fairly" and not "selfishly"....the ANSWER IS THE FAIR TAX !!!

For God's Sake, bring our soldiers home !!!.. and give up this insane concept of "nation-rebuilding" as a means of fighting this "War on Terror"!!

If any of you honestly believe that terrorist efforts are being diminished by our sacrificing our military in Afghanistan, you are sadly mistaken. Even the Taliban are simply "waiting us out".
For heaven's sake, we all know there are as many "terrorists" in our own backyard as in Afghanistan!!! Yup....and apparently they are just satisfied with the idea of providing us with a "death by a million cuts"!
And so what are we doing in Afghanistan??... Over 9 yrs of chasing who?? Where? Really now!!!
Oh,yes...."Winning the hearts & minds of the people", huh!? I sure remember that broken tune....different singers now, that's all!!
Are we to expect that this same "unsucessful" strategy will next be carried out in Yemen, or Somalia, ...or some other forsaken "pothole" that breeds fanatical discontent with Western culture?? Give me a break!!

Yes, use our intelligence (if we have any left) and take actions (with our military, if needed) to protect our vital nation interests; but let's not play these stupid games that we have chosen to follow ever since the horrendous days of Vietnam!

LET'S GIVE OUR SOLDIERS THE RESPECT THEY DESERVE...BRING THEM HOME!!

Let's try an OPEN discussion of the merits of this principle which John Stossel of the FOX Business Channel calls a "Tragedy of the Commons".
It's an interesting and, I believe, very important principle as to why SOCIALISM fails.
It brings out the all-important need of having an "ownership" or, at least, a "vested" interest in things.....even into such policies as "government entitlements".

His opening story explains it:
"I first heard that phrase in a story about shepherds who lived around a grassy area they called a commons. Since the shepherds shared this free, green grass, they grabbed as much of it as possible. They brought many more sheep to graze. Soon ... all the grass was gone.
The sheep died, and the shepherds had nothing. Then then they divided the commons into parcels. Each shepherd owned one. Each had an incentive to limit the number of sheep that grazed on his grass. Prosperity happened, and everyone lived happily ever after."

In actuality, we see this "tragedy" displayed with the mentality
of so many of our "entitlement recipients".

Take WELFARE for instance.....

How many times do you think someone on Medicaid will schedule a visit to the Doctor "in their office" as opposed to "just going to the ER" for convenience sake alone??

It's much easier to just call it an "EMERGENCY" isn't it?? The grass is still plentiful, huh??

So, let's look at FOOD STAMPS. When do you think someone gave back any "un-needed" or unused stamps?.....
or would you think that anyone would be dis-honest enough to sell, trade or give away those un-needed stamps to someone else?? Tough question, huh?

A Victory in Round 1 !! Preview the next battle..

We did "kick-ass" !!

There will be 18 states subject to reapportionment.
The Republicans will control a majority of those - at least ten and maybe a dozen or more.
More significantly, a minimum of seventeen state legislative houses have flipped to the Republican Party.
The North Carolina Legislature is Republican for the first time since 1870. Yes, that is Eighteen Seventy.
The Alabama Legislature is Republican for the first time since 1876.
For those saying this is nothing because it is the South, consider these:The entire Wisconsin and New Hampshire legislatures have flipped to the GOP by wide margins.
The State Houses in Indiana, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Ohio, Iowa, Montana, and Colorado flipped to the GOP.
The Maine and Minnesota Senates flipped to the GOP.The Texas and Tennessee Houses went from virtually tied to massive Republican gains. The gains in Texas were so big that the Republicans no longer need the Democrats to get state constitutional amendments out of the state legislature.
These gains go all the way down to the municipal level across the nation.
That did not happen even in 1994 !!

So now what ??

We obviously were not successful in some areas.....either by the still ever-present voter-fraud problems; or simply a continuing liberal, progressive mentality that exists primarily in the coastal extremities of the country.
Places where Barney Frank can continue his errant ways irregardless of integrity; places like where Charlie Rangel continues to steal his constituents blind......or way out where the "if it feels good, just do it" crowd lives on the West Coast. Even in Nevada, where despite overwhelming conservatism trends all over the state, the gambling hubs of Reno & Vegas held up the any chance for the state to over-turn its ailing economy due to the apparent "assistance" of the SEIU machinery in retaining "the beloved" Reid.

Well, the "heartland" of the country is intact now and stronger than it was. Now we will see how newly-elected citizen candidates perform.

There will be plenty of obstacles, of course.... "gridlock" and the usual "finger-pointing and blame games" for openers.
Many of the incumbant politicans are still there waiting to trap and ambush anyone showing signs of true change
and non-conformity to "the ways of Wahington".
It will be a very interesting time during the next year as we prepare for the next battle: The War of 2012!!

You offended our dead and every veteran when you give the Germans more respect than the people who saved the German people from themselves. What's the matter with you? I am convinced that you and the members of your administration have the historical and intellectual depth of a mud puddle and should be ashamed of yourselves, all of you.

You are so self-righteously offended by the big bankers and the American automobile manufacturers yet do nothing about the real thieves in this situation, Mr. Dodd, Mr. Frank, Franklin Raines, Jamie Gorelic, the Fannie Mae bonuses, and the Freddie Mac bonuses. What do you intend to do about them? Anything? I seriously doubt it.

What about the U.S. House members passing out $9.1 million in bonuses to their staff members on top of the $2.5 million in automatic pay raises that lawmakers gave themselves? I understand the average House aide got a 17% bonus. I took a 5% cut in my pay to save jobs with my employer. You haven't said anything about that. Who authorized that? I surely didn't!

Executives at Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac will be receiving $210 million in bonuses over an eighteen-month period, that's $45 million more than the AIG bonuses. In fact, Fannie and Freddie executives have already been awarded $51 million not a bad take. Who authorized that and why haven't you expressed your outrage at this group who are largely responsible for the economic mess we have right now?

I resent that you take me and my fellow citizens as brain-dead and not caring about what you idiots do. We are watching what you are doing and we are getting increasingly fed up with all of you.

I also want you to know that I personally find just about everything you do and say to be offensive to every one of my sensibilities. I promise you that I will work tirelessly to see that you do not get a chance to spend two terms destroying my beautiful country.

This woman may lose her job for this letter.. I believe we owe it to her for expressing the outrage that we feel but fail to address.

Even though this letter was sent last year.....the facts remain and have gotten worse:
*Failed fiscal policies, including multiple stimuli,
bail-outs, TARPs and takeovers
*High unemployment that continues unabated
*Wealth redistribution and regressive tax polices
*Massive government expansion

Why do we continually choose to try and "re-build" nations in our image; why do we try to change cultures when they do not want to be something else; why do we feel it is our "duty" or responsibility to do all this?

Because we are "RIGHT" ??

Because of "innocent" lives or casualties ??

Because we are the "policeman" of the world ?? (oops, I mean "policeperson" of the world.

Not really.....THEN WHY???

If we do it to defend ourselves...and fight the various terrorist groups and their tactics being used today......

Terrorists are everywhere now....even in our backyard!!

Al Qaeda has been in NW Pakistan and many other places for ages.....
For Afghanistan itself, the Taliban are simply waiting for us to eventually leave anyway and have already negotiated a joint government plan with the corrupt Karzai regime.

So why do we send our troops to a land where we are not wanted, nor understood.....again, it seems it is to try and change a culture that does NOT want to be changed??

If we feel the need to take action, then take what action we need to; use what forces are necessary according to our intelligence sources; and be done with it !!!
We don't need to "win over" anyone nor do we need to entrench ourselves with vast bases and a complex plan of "nation rebuilding"!
Stop trying to be "politically correct" and appease everyone! It will never happen!

Being born in Berlin in 1944, I sometimes think back when we bombed the German citizens in WWII (I was in one of the bunkers with my mom then... trying to survive);.... and then I think back when we let the Atom bomb go on Japan (twice) !!! I suppose there were some innocents killed there, too!!

I fought in Vietnam and saw the same "mis-directed" effort trying to "change the hearts and minds" of a culture that did not want to be changed. It was all done under the premise of "stopping the spread of communism"! It did virtually nothing to stop it; instead it embarrassed and weakened us!

It seems we just refuse to learn from our past mistakes!!

In order to really get this country back on the right road....we need a REAL LEADER and a specific, viable PLAN to focus on !!!

This can be done by identifying potential "Leaders" and building the "Plan".

Paul Ryan's Road Map Plan is a good Plan (even covering many issues including entitlement reforms) except for the tax reform part where the FAIR TAX should be inserted. See the 18min video
Then, you will have a REAL Road to the FUTURE!!

As for leaders, I'm looking to Newt Gingrich to step up.
There are a large number of good 2nd tier candidates headed up by such rising names as Bobby Jindal, Herman Cain, Tim Pawlenty and more.

Unfortunately millions of workers have simply not kept their skills and knowledge - their competencies - sufficient to be competitive in securing the jobs that do exist. The workforce that is needed now requires more and more intellectual competence and less and less physical competence. Now throw in our failing education system; along with the factories which are becoming more and more robotic and technically oriented, and the results are predictable. The physical skills that humans have had are less and less in demand. When robots becomes cheaper than employing people, and what human labor is necessary becomes cheaper in foreign places, the results are clear.

It’s also clear that America needs innovation & new industries (the bedrock of capitalism & the free enterprise system), rather than relying on the ones that supported the rise of the middle class in the 1950s and 1960s. Biotechs and Renewable energies are certainly two that offer promise. But why do we not see the rise of these new industries from our private sector?

Over the years unions have elevated the pay scale of workers to unsustainable levels. The most mundane job now carries a high wage price tag to prospective employers. Non union employers traditionally pay less than their union counter parts but are forced to raise wages as well in an effort to retain their employees. All aspects of our lives are affected as companies raise prices to maintain an acceptable profit margin.

The real trouble began when the general populous discovered banks would lend absurd amounts of money against inflated, panic purchased residential real estate to anyone who said they could pay it back without proof of income. We quickly found ourselves in a situation where even union wages could not keep pace with rising home prices. It had to end somewhere.

The private sector will begin expanding, investing and hiring when it becomes confident that it can predict, with some level of accuracy, what economic conditions will be for the next year or so. What they are seeing, instead, is the threat of higher taxation, greater government interference through regulation, the unknown costs of Obamacare, Cap and Trade, and immigration reform that will turn millions of formerly illegal aliens into Democrat voters, plus the threat of pro-labor union legislation. The jobs aren't coming back any time soon.

Instead, State and Federal Governments are finding themselves coming up short in their budgets but instead of introducing or enacting legislation to stimulate the private sector, there is a constant attempt to figure out ways to extract more revenue from the dwindling few who still have the ability to pay and the ideas are bordering on insanity. There is no real effort to "tighten belts" or cut inefficient or wasteful spending....especially when it comes to "pork barrel" legislation and passage of "entitlement reforms."

People in my age and wage bracket are concerned about our golden years, our children's future and where this Country is heading. Most of us do not like what we see and feel betrayed by our elected officials. Many feel there is little we can do to stop it and are taking steps to protect what we have left.

YES, we need to get the Obama Admin out of office.
YES, we need to get most if not all the incumbents in Congress either out of office,... but we also need to see some unified leadership to take us in the right direction with a specific platform of goals to set our sights on!

First and foremost:
Adoption of the Fair Tax can and will correct much of this injustice through a visible transformation of our tax system which is not only "FAIR" but will rightfully distribute our "PAYING" tax base to include all proper parties.....including former tax dodgers, illegals, criminals, visitors, etc. while re-vitalizing our economy through the elimination of most business taxation thus enabling new job creation and a reduction of prices/inflation.

This, along with a sensible plan of spending cuts, elimination of pork barrel legislation, and common sense REFORMS (not elimination of) of government entitlement programs such as "unemployment insurance", "social security", welfare including health care such as medicare/medicaid, and outrageous pension plans. We certainly need some of these programs, but they need to become sensible, affordable and coupled with a re-newed sense of individual responsibility.

That is about as cheerfully optimistic as I can get.
