This NEW facebook page is used to promote the 3 basic core solutions to reforming the political system used in our U.S. democratic constitutional republic.

The page is further used to help coordinate and promote the understanding & education of the three most prominent available real solutions to reforming our current political system.
It identifies the 3 main areas as:
1. Voting system reform (Approval Voting) as opposed to the current Plurality method of voting.
2. Campaign finance reform (Move to Amend) which eliminates "Corporate Personhood" and rejects that "Money is Free Speech"

GUN CONTROL LEGISLATION....????

The only defense/talking points I have heard against gun control legislation are:

1. the government will "eventually"??? ban all guns.

2. we need semi-automatic weapons for self-defense???

HOWEVER........

We can't just assume that the government will make a "leap" to ban ALL GUNS.....we need good safe legislation to keep us from "ANARCHY". The problem is we DO NOT have trustworthy and honest legislators to do the job!!!"...and some with a "far-right mentality" that "assumes doom & gloom" in any attempt to do that job.

Just because we have "speed laws" does not prevent us from "driving" or possessing a car!!

We have the right to own property....so we can buy a car;

but the state collects a tax on its purchase, your county makes you register it & pay another tax/fee, then you are required to purchase insurance for it, and then to "drive it" you have to obey speed laws along with many other road rule restrictions including, now, wearing seat belts.
Does that prevent you from buying or driving your car ???? NO!!!

Hopefully, it keeps us safer !!!

We have FREE SPEECH, but there are restrictions to prohibit "slander", libel, etc.......

Is a "Libertarianized" NEWT the Answer.....What is he really up to??

I have written about NEWT before......
but despite the sudden and disasterous results of his 2012 campaign,
he remains active in the political scene......WHY??

We all can admit that he is certainly the most EXPERIENCED, KNOWLEDGEABLE, AND ARTICULATE potential candidate out there....
and he even "looks Presidential" !!
(even his opponents agree to that.)
So....WHY??

A number of FACTS and QUESTIONS arise....

FIRST, the FACTS:
1. A majority of the vote-eligible public still does not vote.
2. A majority of the vote-eligible public considers themselves dis-enfranchised from the political process.
3. A majority of the vote-eligible public has stated their preference to be "independent" and not aligned with either party.
4. A majority of the vote-eligible public has shown an increasing tendency to be fiscally conservative and socially tolerant on most issues.
5. A majority of the vote-eligible public favors a smaller and Constitutionally bound government.

So, NOW the QUESTIONS:

1. Why is NEWT still active in politics???
Does he plan to run again.....despite his age and the ever-present, age-old baggage he carries??
Will he manage to find a way to carry the moderate, libertarian-minded segment of the voting and non-voting public??

2. Is he simply trying to resurrect his dear-old party...the GOP, despite its reputation of overwhelming distrust and corruption??.....or help establish some New party??

3. Is he just trying to give direction and leadership advice to any new inspiring political candidates??....or just help educate the public??

I probably don't agree with every one of NEWT's positions (never have)....
BUT, he is the most open-minded, forward thinker I know of... that would have the ability to merge this diverse society we have found ourselves in !
I truly hope that he can find it in him to accomplish such a task and lead this nation back on a moral and fiscally sound path!!
If not......the year is young and I still can dream!!!

Wow, this girl has a great plan! Love the last thing she would do the best. This was written by a 21 yr old female who gets it. THE DEATH of the AMERICAN TWO-PARTY SYSTEM.....
Coming to a precinct or theater near you.....

After the first real election between Thomas Jefferson and John Adams the two-party system was created. This was during the 1790's .... the two parties were the Federalists and the Democratic–Republican.
By 1796 both parties had a national network of newspapers that attacked each other. Many in congress were hard to classify in the first two years however as time went on this was not true.
After the civil war, and until now, the two parties have been the Republicans and the Democrats.

It used to be a more stable form of government.....until money & corruption (greed & need for re-election) destroyed the core of the two parties !!!

There is no incentive to form a party that consistently gets votes but cannot win an election. As a result, the two political parties usually dominate plurality electoral systems to the disadvantage of smaller third parties.

First, there is the lack of choice. If there are only two parties, then they must reach towards the majority of the country. Therefore, they need to NOT have extreme views, so they both are VERY SIMILAR because their options are limited.

Second, by only having two parties, it limits the potential for change. New ideas that don't follow the norm will most likely be thrown out than be adopted by the two major parties. The policies and the government change very little over time due to the two parties being so closely related.

Third, the two party system does not always provide the best leaders. Each party wants to win, so they will pick the person who has the best chance of winning. That being said, these people they choose may not always be the best leader.

"MY IMAGINARY FRIENDS"......

This is a story about my "imaginary friends" which I will name with a number and refer to with a "generic" him or her with no real reference to their sex.

I have a friend (#1).....who is a staunch fiscal conservative like me !!! We balance our books all the time !! If we can't "fit it in our budget", we do without.....until we can afford it.
.....and we don't like to waste money and time on frivolous things, especially when "times are tough".   We "detest" fraud, and avoid cheats or dishonest people.

I also have a friend (#2) who is a "liberal" .......always finding a compassionate reason to help out the less fortunate in one way or another; ........ always finding a reason why its OK to let everyone "do their own thing" regardless of the consequences.   I'm sick of it.....Where's the "personal responsibility"?? She always points out that... "Well, some of us are less fortunate than others"!!!   And I respond, "Does that mean we are all destined to simply take our places in whatever the "most common denominator is"??? "Doesn't that take away any motive to excel at anything, if it will just get taken away and given to others" ??
The only response I get back is...."Well, that is supposed to make you feel good and a part of the "community"!

My friend #3 is a homosexual !! (Ugh!!) I didn't learn about that until later on. He was a great cook, hard worker, and a very nice guy. Then one day, he introduced me to his "boyfriend"....one he had a "relationship" with for years!   Wow!!! ....and I never knew it. Yeah, this one was "tough".....certainly not my "cup of tea"! He later explained to me the difficulties he had in trying to buy a house "together
with his boyfriend".....his unfair treatment (legally & civil) due to his sexual preference. Had to sympathize with them a bit here.   They didn't interfere with anyone....didn't try to ram their "sexual preference thinking" down anyone's throat, didn't try to "teach it to my kids",
or flaunt it around in some of the vulgar ways I've seen it on the streets of NYC & LA......so, YES this seems unfair.

Now for friend #4 , a nice lady who generally is soft spoken and like me, is generally quite a Conservative. She is a Lutheran and goes regularly to church. She is also PRO-CHOICE on the issue of Abortion.I tend to understand her position since I have a modified position myself, which would allow for a woman to make that choice in the case of rape, incest, or medical necessity. An interesting quoted phrase makes you think:
"....if you take an egg from a woman, it's an abortion. If you take an egg from a chicken, it's an omelette."

The obvious comment here is that there is a difference between a woman and a chicken; but the subtle point of necessity or "reason for taking the egg is not addressed".

Friend #5 is a devout Muslim has lived and worked his whole life in his family business since his parents immigrated to the U.S. in 1956 from Morrocco. They are now closing up the business since many of their former customers have stopped patronizing their store for fear of reprisals to themselves, and assorted other peer pressures. It's a shame; he is a "proud" person and refuses handouts, but can not sustain himself here any longer.

He is not a "terrorist"; and does not subscribe to Islam's adoption of Sharia Law......yet is accused of it regularly. I guess he will have to take a ship and leave like the Puritans did when they came to America, huh??

With all these different friends, I began to wonder what was wrong with "people"???
I got quite frustrated.....and finally asked GOD to step in and grant me one wish!!!
I felt HE was on my side and would do this in order to keep my sanity.
I asked GOD to put all these people in ONE ROOM !!!
Then, to let them come out, one at a time, with the "proper mindset" as only HE truly intended them to have!!
WELL.....Slowly, each one came out.....and to my "amazement and befuddlement".....they all seemed exactly the same as they went in ????
I immediately said to myself :
"Well, I guess GOD didn't give me THAT WISH !?"........
or DID HE ???

It may be that, even though, we have social & moral differences among us... (Remember, our own Founding Fathers escaped persecution, too !)
....that social tolerance of others is a virtue also; and that what we may see as an apparent "degradation of moral values" may not always be what it seems!

It may just be that the "human nature" in us all will, in the long run, enable a CIVIL SOCIETY adjust to changing times and still prevail over ANARCHY !!

VOTE LIBERTARIAN this FALL......
A REAL CHOICE for Liberty....

leaving SOCIAL ISSUES off the table, letting the individual decide for themselves....
leave government OUT OF IT !!;

AND bring REAL FISCAL CONSERVATISM to a LIMITED GOVERNMENT according to the CONSTITUTION !!

WELL....First of all....YES !!!!! YOU DO HAVE A CHOICE THIS FALL !!!!

The Libertarian Party candidate, Gary Johnson will be on the ballot in all 50 states.
He's also met Federal Election Commission requirements of raising $5,000 in 20 states and can receive matching funds, a rare feat for a third party candidate!!

Most Americans are REALLY Libertarians.....and just don't know it yet !!! If Johnson polls at 15%, he'll be in the National Pres Debates and you'll learn why!! This may welll be the "spark" to ignite a 3rd Party win.

One important point I will make regarding the Libertarian Party which had me confused right along.....is that the "party" platform does not advocate any individual position for or against any of the social issues. None on abortion, same-sex, religion, etc........they should be choices made by each individual according to his/her moral/values teachings. Government or "a party" should not dictate that to us. There are left-leaning Libertarians and right-leaning Libertarians (often called Blue or Red Libertarians); but the essential point is that government stay out of it.
If American values are to change for the better, it must come via individuals and their own return to faith-based (or ???) beliefs.

He has also called for the tax system to be based on consumption instead of income, supporting what is known as the "Fair Tax," or a 23 percent national sales tax. He said it "reboots the economy for the next 100 years." The FairTax is nonpartisan legislation (HR 25/S 13) that replaces personal and corporate income taxes, payroll taxes like Social Security and Medicare, estate, gift, capital gains, alternative minimum, and self-employment taxes. http://fairtax.org/

CELEBRATE MEMORIAL DAY....THE RIGHT WAY !!!

This is supposed to be "MEMORIAL DAY" .....IN HONOR OF THE VETERANS THAT HAVE GIVEN THEIR LIVES (THAT ARE DEAD !!!)

Celebrate MEMORIAL DAY....THE RIGHT WAY ......

I watched a "Memorial Day Concert Tribute" last night....which listed a number of reputable hosts and performers.
There "theme" was "welcoming home" troops/veterans...????
Now, maybe it's me....or maybe I'm just being too "picky" here; but isn't Veteran's Day in NOVEMBER ???

Well, I suppose we can stretch the definition of Memorial Day...if one wants to make a political statement!! The media loves to do that anyway!!
SO LET'S MAKE ONE:

The BEST STATEMENT that I can think of to HONOR our fallen soldiers would be: BRING ALL THE REMAINING TROOPS HOME.....NOW.....

Yup, wrap up all the "goodies" and bring it on home!!

I don't know of any "AUTHORIZED WARS", "Police actions", or such committments requiring the presence of our "troops" anywhere.....Do You??
Even getting rid of old residual agreements subsidizing antiquated needs for "bases"....i.e. Germany, Korea, etc.

History

Most Americans look favorably on the two-party system because it has dominated much of American politics from the very beginning. The Republican and Democratic parties have existed for more than 150 years, and that history gives them a legitimacy that third parties do not have. The two-party system is also self-perpetuating. Children grow up identifying with one of the two major parties instead of a third party because children tend to share their parents’ political views.
Coke and Pepsi

The two political parties are a lot like the two giants of the cola world, Coke and Pepsi. Although each wants to win, they both recognize that it is in their mutual interest to keep a third cola from gaining significant market share. Coke and Pepsi, many people have argued, conspire to keep any competitor from gaining ground. For example, in supermarkets, cola displays at the end of the aisles are often given over to Coke for six months of the year and Pepsi for the other six. Competitors such as Royal Crown face an extremely difficult challenge. The Democrats and the Republicans function in much the same way.

The Electoral System

In the United States, a candidate wins the election by gaining a plurality, or more votes than any other candidate. This is a winner-take-all system because there is no reward for the party or candidate that finishes second. Parties aim to be as large as possible, smoothing over differences among candidates and voters. There is no incentive to form a party that consistently gets votes but cannot win an election. As a result, two political parties usually dominate plurality electoral systems to the disadvantage of smaller third parties, just as the Democrats and the Republicans dominate the American political system. No one person or organization prevents third parties from forming, but the plurality system itself usually hinders their efforts to win votes.
The United States also has mostly single-member districts, meaning that each legislative district sends only one member to the legislature. There is no benefit to finishing second. Some countries use multiple-member districts, which makes it easier for minor parties to succeed because there are more members winning seats in the legislature.

The Electoral College

The Electoral College exacerbates the winner-take-all system because in all but two states, whoever wins the most popular votes wins all of the state’s electoral votes in the presidential election. The electoral rules favor a two-party system, and minor parties have a very difficult time competing in such a system. Even successful third-party candidates often fail to get a single electoral vote.

Example: In the 1992 presidential election, independent candidate H. Ross Perot received nearly 19 percent of the popular vote, but he did not get a single electoral vote. Other recent third-party candidates—including John Anderson in 1980, Perot again in 1996, and Ralph Nader in 2000—also failed to win electoral votes. The last third-party candidate to win any electoral votes was George Wallace in 1968’s tumultuous election.

Advantages and Disadvantages

There are a few advantages of the American two-party system:

Stability: Two-party systems are more stable than multiparty systems
Moderation: The two parties must appeal to the middle to win elections, so the parties tend to be moderate.
Ease: Voters have only to decide between two parties.

But there are also a few disadvantages to our system, including the following:

Lack of choice: Both parties tend to be very similar, limiting voters’ options.
Less democratic: A percentage of people will always feel marginalized by the system.

Let's first look quickly at "American Exceptionalism"-
American exceptionalism (From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)-
is the theory that the United States is different from other countries in that it has a specific world mission to spread liberty and democracy. In this view, America's exceptionalism stems from its emergence from a revolution, becoming "the first new nation,"^[1] and developing a uniquely American ideology, based on liberty, egalitarianism, individualism, populism and laissez-faire........
Proponents of American exceptionalism argue that the United States is exceptional in that it was founded on a set of republican ideals, rather than on a common heritage, ethnicity, or ruling elite. However, The United States has the largest population of immigrants in the world—over 38.5 million people living in the United States are first-generation immigrants. As such we have "mutated"!! We are no longer a few select groups of Pilgrims, Puritans, and assorted aristocrats from England; but a hugely diverse maze or "melting pot" of many cultures and nationalities. Coming with that, is its associated variety of beliefs, values & religions....all of which have been welcomed here under the American roof with no discrimination or favoritism.......or has it ???

The United States' policies have been characterized since their inception by a system of federalism and checks and balances, which were designed to prevent any person, faction, region, or government organ from becoming too powerful.

But as we have seen with our recent electoral processes....it has become infested with "special interest groups" and powerful elites with financial controls over, not only the media, but over the "electoral process itself".
It has gotten to where these policies are now expected to tell us what is "right or wrong"......or to set our "MORAL COMPASS" regarding SOCIAL ISSUES.
This used to be an area reserved for "individual responsibility" originated & developed by our parents, family and faith (religion)......to be maintained by each of us, individually, throughout our life.

In modern times....
"Instead of a moral compass, people have been given enormous freedom to construct their own lives and make their own moral decisions. Since when do we expect our elected representatives and a political party to involve themselves in the myriad of social issues and the various viewpoints that come with them!!??
If you don't like someone's position on abortion....or gay marraige; then don't vote for them !!! It's really that simple !!!For any party to attempt to find positions that are acceptable with such a wide cross-section of society will necessitate continual bickering and dis-content among its members.....never finding the "magical" combination or formula to satisfy enough of a majority to accomplish anything.

POLITICAL PARTIES SHOULD REFRAIN FROM TAKING POSITIONS ON SOCIAL ISSUES.....This is solely a responsibility of the INDIVIDUAL derived from one's parents, family and religious beliefs !

POLITICS.... Sometimes I wonder why I bother with it.

After spending many months supporting & endorsing NEWT GINGRICH for the GOP nomination; thinking that he would be the person to fix the ailing system and be the one who would be able to resist the influences of the elite establishment and its biased media; only to be suddenly, once again be dis-illusioned, and disappointed in the public display of political corruption witnessed in this election cycle.
Having made many new facebook friends (as I'm sure many of us have)....some of which will certainly not agree with my views....I only say: "that's what our country is supposed to be about....freedom of expression, thoughts, ideas & opinions." Those in disagreement are free to express theirs in their own way....so long as we don't infringe upon the rights of others to do the same.
I personally can not adopt a view of "voting for the lesser of two evils" in comparing Barack Obama vs Mitt Romney. I feel we must be able to resist being "force-fed" a philosophy that we disagree with. Their ARE other choices! WE MUST STOP THIS INSANITY !!

I honestly feel we have a long struggle ahead of us.
The two-party system is so powerful (money supported) and influential (media-driven)... that any progress toward fixing this will necessitate electoral reforms &; campaign finance reforms which will entail an uphill battle that must come...
but how and when???

I don't see either the RNC/DNC changing themselves and becoming "un-corrupt"; and for individuals at the ground level to work their way up...it is extremely unlikely with the "playing field" so "uneven" and dominated by BIG MONEY and the "good ole boy networks" that are in place.
So, does it come through a 3rd Party??

The duopoly we now have has so embedded itself and thus dominated U.S. politics for quite some time now, that it, too is extremely difficult!!
The biggest hurdle is Ballot Access: National BALLOT ACCESS (http://www.ballot-access.org/2012/04/01/march-2012-ballot-access-news-print-edition/) for 3rd/independent parties in all states is the first step which can often take years.

THIS IS ONE REASON WHY I AM TRYING TO JUSTIFY A SERIOUS LOOK AT THE LIBERTARIAN PARTY. It has BALLOT ACCESS !!
They will, however, need to clarify some of their positions (policies/platform) if they truly expect to assimilate more of the INDEPENDENT VOTERS and CENTRIST-RIGHT MAJORITY in order to actually win elections on a national level.
For one, they DO A POOR JOB of expressing their "NEUTRALITY" on SOCIAL ISSUES !!! Often being labeled "pro-something, when they are NOT !!!
They DO A POOR JOB of expressing their actual views on National Defense & Foreign Policy !!! Often being labeled "isolationist" when they are really NOT !!!

I'm trying to weigh most of the admirable principles of the Libertarian Party against the risk of turning the nation into one of "Anarchy"...(where everyone just does as they please).
As an example...there is a fine line in being able to determine when one's choice of a "social liberty" infringes on, or does harm to another's choice.
Specifically, it becomes the inevitable problem of choosing...By who and when is such a determination of "harm" made? (by the Government...through a Law?????)
History has shown us that people can not rule themselves in a "civil society" without some kind of civil constraint.

The Libertarian Party does not seem to address this area very well. In order for their philosophy to work, people must be rational, and we're all too often not rational at all.
We need a system that will work for the good of the nation.....and my hopes that a "workable" methodology/system of allowing those liberties be adopted in the Libertarian platform.

Whether any "a party" includes or deals with SOCIAL ISSUES is always a critical problem (as it is often the major cause of disputes among the parties). Many parties choose to treat one or all social issues with a broad brush thus leading to internal bickering, while others become so restrictive that they exclude the overwhelming majority of those they wish to appeal to....look at the GOP for example !!
Suffice it to say that trying to get "everyone" or, at least, a workable majority of constituents on the same page...on all or even most social issues; is a daunting if not impossible task.
It is the RESPONSIBILITY of the "individual, parent or family" to provide, develop and maintain a "moral compass". Why should it become the responsibility or job of your elected representative to provide, develop and maintain it?? If you don't like or agree with one's position on abortion...or gay marriage.....don't vote for that person!! It's really that simple!
Again, it is when people are not "responsible"; or infringe upon the rights of others ...that it often FAILS. Therein lies the real issue!!!

NOW FOR VOTING......the REAL ISSUES:

Campaign Finance Reform:
Reduce or eliminate the influence of money and special interests groups in campaigns.
Establish public funding options for clean elections and shorten election cycles. Eliminate soft money from corporations, unions, and wealthy individuals. Prompt Internet disclosure of campaign contributions and voting records. Lobbyists provide information, not money.
Establish election spending caps on candidates in order to cover administrative/travel costs with annual adjustments tied to relevant national inflation/cost index.

Elections/Electoral Reforms:
Amend Constitution to provide Term Limits on Senate and Congress of no more than 2 consecutive terms in Senate and 6 consecutive terms in Congress. In doing so, term limits will minimize corruption, put and end to career power wheeling politicians, allow for quicker response to change in policy and direction of the country and reduce the possibility of a political class within the government.
All States must grant fair ballot access to qualified third party candidates and independents.
All TV, Radio or other media debates and forums must uniformly & impartially include ballot-qualified third-party and independent candidates. Publish uniform statewide voter guides in all national elections.
Eliminate "Gerrymandering" in the States or require courts, not State political parties, to construct equal legislative voting districts preventing the disenfranchisement of the voter
State primaries/caucuses/conventions for any & each party must be held on the same day with results not published until all states have closed respective polls.
Cumulative voting options, instant runoff.
NOTA (None of the Above) on the ballot line as a voter's choice.
Electorate Recall vote to remove legislators in their respective state.
Citizen initiative and referendum laws in all states.

If you are all extremely angry, and disappointed, not to say the least, FRUSTRATED with our government ....
WELL, the basic problem which I've stated many times before, REMAINS:
"No one in their right mind, or worth their salt wants to work in the corrupt cesspool of politics....even if they had tons of money; much less those that have to "prostitute" themselves for it!
So...sure....lets find a sharp person who has solid principles and is willing to face insane scrutiny of themselves and their family!"
Even if we could find one ...or even a few of them....WE NEED A MAJORITY TO GET ANYTHING ACCOMPLISHED....and remove (bypass) the corrupt old style politicans that have plagued our broken system.

and THEN you have the problem of "EDUCATING THE IGNORANT MASSES WHO BASICALLY REFUSE TO PARTICIPATE IN RESPONSIBLE CITIZENSHIP !!!
Yeah, mostly those who are too busy with their personal lives; while 47% pay no income taxes and most enjoy relying on their handouts & entitlements. Just look, over 40~% still support Obama along with his mainstream media and most of the liberal-oriented Hollywood celebrities!!
My favorite quote describes it perfectly: "The danger to America is not Barack Obama but a citizenry capable of entrusting a man like him with the presidency."

So, there we are....one more good "flush" and we will be "down the toilet";

The Republicans have apparently chosen to put all their "eggs" into the sole effort called the "Ryan Plan"....the only "plan" out of the gate !!!
Stupid?? Yes, even early signs of election backfiring has shown itself in the NY26 upset !! It is obvious this plan needs work, further inputs and better explanations.

The Democrats, however, simply choose to ignore everything and won't even make an effort to put forth their own "plan" !!!?? Chickenshit?? You bet....they'd rather just beat up on anyone "opening their mouth" with real ideas!! Shrewd?...maybe.

One of the dissident Republicans was Kentucky Senator Rand Paul, who objects that Ryan's plan — which would not balance the budget for decades — is not a serious response to fiscal challenges facing the country.

Furthermore, it does not "reform" or "improve" Medicare. The congressman's voucher scheme ...prepares the way for the popular and necessary program's elimination in any form that Americans have understood or appreciated it. Instead of steering public funds toward the care of the elderly, the Ryan plan steers the elderly — via vouchers — into the clutches of the for-profit insurance companies that make their money by denying care to the sick, the disabled and the vulnerable elderly. At best, this plan would need a "transition" period to give seniors a "choice" between the standard Medicare and the New Voucher system...to see if it even works right!!
Simply put....Ryan's Plan needs serious WORK

John Ransom, a Townhall columnist recently said in reference to the budget cutting compromise:
"That’s the way our system was designed; for gradual change, not revolution. For those who feel the revolution has been betrayed somehow, I caution that revolutions in American politics are slow, fitful things that are evolutionary not revolutionary."
As he goes on to admit "For the first time in 46 years Congress has actually reduced the level of spending year-over-year. Without voters making it absolutely clear in townhall meetings, rallies and protests that they are taxed enough already, we’d be looking at higher spending most certainly."

So, we should be satisfied....Right ??

Well, this means that, at that rate .....if we had another 46 years, I can assume we would get another similar cut?? Hmmm?? Think about that!!??

Erik Erickson of Redstate explains: "the GOP is getting $38.5 billion in total cuts for the year. Additionally, of the $38.5 billion in cuts, several folks on the Hill tell me that $12 billion is from readjusting baselines in the budget and are mostly smoke."

But we’ll take it, I guess??

........"For perspective, the federal government spends $10.46 billion a day.
The Democrats and Republicans have now come together to cut out just under 4 days worth of spending out of 365 days."

He goes on to say:

However, on Friday night the two parties came together and decided the crisis they’ve been telling us about really isn’t worth dealing with." ......certainly not now anyway !!!

So, WHEN, I ask ????

Lorita Doan another Townhall columnist had it right when she said "Balancing the federal budget will require deep cuts to non-performing programs and will require changes to the existing budgeting process in future years." ......

so again, I ask.....WHEN do we do this ???

Allowing "our system" to work its way through whatever gradual change some think is acceptable is simply NOT AN OPTION !!!

We've also come to understand that both political parties....especially the leaderships, still practice the age-old art of SELF-PRESERVATION "POLITICS" in that RE-ELECTION IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN STANDING FOR ANY REAL PRINCIPLES or representing "WE THE PEOPLE"....BECAUSE THAT'S THE WASHINGTON WAY!

As Glenn Beck correctly predicted from day one, Barack Hussien Obama is following the plan of Cloward & Piven (two professors at Columbia University). They outlined a plan to socialize America by overwhelming the system with government spending and entitlement demands.
It is a brilliant Machiavellian game plan to turn the United States into a socialist/Marxist state with a permanent majority that desperately needs government for survival ... and can be counted on to always vote for bigger government.

Universal health care . The health care bill had very little to do with health care. It had everything to do with unionizing millions of hospital and healthcare workers, as well as adding 15,000 to 20,000 new IRS agents (who will join government employee unions).
Obama doesn't care that giving free health care to 30+ million Americans (illegal or otherwise) will add trillions to the national debt.
What he does care about is that it cements the dependence of those 30+ million voters to Democrats and big government. Who but a socialist revolutionary would pass this reckless spending bill in the middle of a depression?

Cap and Trade.
Like health care legislation having nothing to do with health care, "Cap & Trade" has nothing to do with global warming.
But it has everything to do with redistribution of income, government control of the economy, and a payoff to Obama's biggest contributors such as GE, (which owns NBC, MSNBC and CNBC) along with the biggest labor Unions and many more.

Make Puerto Rico a state.... Why?
Who's asking for a 51st state?
Who's asking for millions of new welfare recipients and government entitlement addicts in the middle of a depression?
Certainly not American taxpayers. But Obama's plan is to add two new Democrat senators, five Democrat congressmen
and a million or so loyal Democratic voters who are, again, dependent on big government.

Legalize 12+ million illegal Mexican immigrants.
Just giving these 12+ million potential new citizens free health care alone could overwhelm the system and bankrupt America; but it also adds 12+ million more reliable new Democrat voters who can be counted on to support big government. Then add another few trillion dollars in welfare, aid to dependent children, food stamps, free medical, education, tax credits for the poor, and eventually Social Security.

Stimulus and bailouts.... Where did all that money go?
It went, of course, to Democrat contributors; organizations like ACORN, and unions like SEIU -- including billions of dollars to save or create jobs of government employees across the country.
It went to save GM and Chrysler so that their employees could keep paying union dues.

It went to AIG so that Goldman Sachs could be bailed out (after giving Obama almost $1 million in contributions).
A staggering $125 billion went to teachers (thereby protecting their union dues).
All done so that those public employees will vote loyally Democrat to protect their bloated salaries and pensions that are bankrupting America.
The country goes broke & future generations face a bleak future; but Obama's administration (big government), the Democrat Party, and the complicit unions grow more powerful.

The ends justify the means.

Raise taxes on small business owners, high-income earners, and job creators.
Put the entire tax & spend burden on only the top 20 percent of taxpayers, redistribute the income, punish success, and reward those who did nothing to deserve it (except voting for Obama).

Is it National Security or National In-security??

I agree with having the Congressional hearings initiated by Rep King as a matter of examining national defense and security issues; its definately needed!! ... We certainly need to protect ourselves by solving the increased threat from radical muslim terrorist infiltration via promotion of Sharia Law especially right here in our own country!!
Much of the problems stem from our insistence to be "politically correct"!! If we just stood up for our American principles and laws, there would not be the sense of "panic" that seems to prevail nowadays!

I also regret, however, to see that too many of us jump to the "islamophobic conclusion" that all Muslims are radicals and follow Sharia Law! It's similar to the same mistake we made with Japanese-American citizens being interned in prisons right here in their own country "in the heat of the moment" right after the Pearl Harbor attack! ....and the onset of "McCarthyism"!

Those that refuse to acknowledge or accept that there is a peaceful
version of the Muslim faith (WITHOUT Sharia and WITHOUT the principle of "erradicating the infidel" aka "Western culture") are as wrong as those they wish to stop.
It is a given FACT that there are (and have been) peaceful Muslim-Americans co-existing for years....despite some wishing otherwise !
AND YES, THERE IS A MUSLIM RELIGION....even though many these days are promoting and using it as a means to promulgate a political & social ideology!

The issue is really: Stopping the spread of RADICAL ISLAM & THE PRACTICE OF SHARIA LAW, while still defending our American way of life and simultaneously preserving our American principles of freedom of religion!...

A fine line to walk indeed !!!

FIRST UP: Social Security

1. Raise the beginning eligibility age to 68....same for Medicare coverage.....for all persons who are now 50 or younger.
Make it 70 for those 40 or younger. Take away the upper limit payroll deduction restrictions for Social Security contributions.

2. Setup Social Security contributions to go into privately/personally-held funds which are restricted until eligible for withdraw.

3. Make it "means test" sensitive. That is, benefits are able to be received based on an income/asset qualification until reaching age 75....at which time, then all funds become available.

NEXT: Medicaid/Food Stamps and similar "welfare programs" such as Unemployment benefits

1. Make ALL these programs time-limited for specific periods of time only! Make all programs also subject to co-pays AND based on a "means test".

2. Make all programs subject to proper verification and monitoring by case workers (hire more case workers if needed). Include periodic testing of the "means" test as well as honest participation in self-help (work-seek, rehab) efforts. Include drug testing as necessary.

NOW WAS IT REALLY THAT BAD...OR UNFAIR??

FREEZING THE DEBT LIMIT DOES NOT REQUIRE A DEFAULT !!!!

This has become one of the most absurd "SCARE TACTICS" used by the Washington establishment in years!!!

It's like my saying to you...."I'm not going to give you an increase in your allowance"....and then you say to me
"Well, then I'm not going to pay on any of my bills because I don't have enough for ALL of it"

Since when have you had to run your own household like that??
Has anyone not heard of "PRIORITIZING" bills?? Pay the necessities, leave out the lesser important items. Period!

Sen. Patrick Toomey’s (R-PA) “Full Faith and Credit Act,” (S 163) would ensure that the U.S. government does not default on its debt by requiring the Treasury to prioritize payments on the debt in case the debt ceiling is not raised.
Also - U.S. Sen. David Vitter recently introduced an amendment to this legislation that would require that if the U.S. does reach its debt limit.... Social Security benefits for seniors and such debt commitments will be the top priorities to be paid before paying any other obligations.

Another excerpt from Tom Diemer's article in POLITICS DAILY describes:
"There's always a little political theater around this," Geithner told the Times. The White House wants a clean bill -- that is, one that raises the debt limit with no riders attached. If the House adds conditions, the Senate, still run by Democrats could try to rip them out.
But in a game of chicken -- as the government starts to run out of money -- Republicans may use Obama's past words against him, the Times said.
In 2006, with the GOP in charge at the White House and on Capitol Hill, then-Sen. Barack Obama voted against the Bush administration's request to raise the debt limit. The bill passed on a party line vote. Obama said: "The fact that we are here today to debate raising America's debt limit is a sign of leadership failure... Leadership means that the buck stops here."

EGYPT - Another Foreign Policy Failure !!

The U.S. should have been pressuring Mobarek to work towards offering a "middle class" reform version of government in Egypt all along-over the last 10 years or so.

Now, its a bit too late....the people have gotten tired of waiting.

So now, .........the only alternatives are a military coup, or a relatively unknown IAEA rep.....either of which will not be able to resist the more-organized and widely spread influence of the Muslim Brotherhood! The FIRST step in "Obamacare Bill" REPLACEMENT

For clarity....Here is the Bill submitted in 112th Congress by M. Blackburn on Thurs 1/20/2011.
This is where we should concentrate our efforts:

"In September, Republicans pledged to repeal ObamaCare if elected to the majority in the House. In Novemeber you spoke clearly. This week, we passed a repeal bill.

Repeal was only the first part of our pledge. We also made a promise to replace ObamaCare with patient-centered reforms that would reduce cost and expand access to health insurance.

Yesterday, I introduced the Health Care Choice Act. The bill has the support of Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton and the Chairman of the Subcommittee on Health, Joe Pitts. Over seventy other Members of the House have joined me in co-sponsoring the bill.

For decades, state borders have created artificial barriers to competition in the health care market. By allowing consumers to purchase health insurance across state lines, the Health Care Choice Act helps to dissolve those barriers.

Here is how the Health Care Choices Act will work to bring down the price of health insurance: Today, when Tennesseans buy health insurance, they are paying for all the coverage requirements that the state insurance commissioner mandates insurers doing buisness in Tennessee must offer. Those mandates vary from state to state.

If you are a young person out buying insurance for the first time, you probably don't need a plan that covers hip replacements. Likewise, if you are a retiree looking for a good policy, you wouldn't be interested in one that offers neonatal care or covers in vitro fertilization treatments. However both the young professional and the new retiree must carry those benefits if the state where they live mandates them.

The Health Care Choice Act allows you to to go online, or to an insurance agent, to shop for a policy that meets your needs- even if that policy is offered in another state. That policy might also have addtitional coverage you need that isn't mandated in your home state.

The Health Care Choice Act expands the health insurance marketplace beyond state lines and gives insurance companies an incentive to compete for your buisness. We all know that competition reduces cost, expands options, and increases efficency.

Competition is what makes the Health Care Choice Act a better approach than ObamaCare. ObamaCare creates national mandates for all health insurance policies, driving up costs for everyone. At the same time ObamaCare mandates that everyone carry a health insurance policy- even if they don't need or want the coverage offered.

The bet ObamaCare makes is the near-term expenses incurred through these mandates will be made up by the long-term savings once everyone is in the insurance pool. Tennessee tried that approach through TennCare and it nearly bankrupted the state.

The Health Care Choice Act introduces competition instead of mandates. That competition will reduce costs and expand access. It will give Americans the coverage they need at a price they want to pay. That is a promise that ObamaCare won't ever deliver on."

The TIME HAS COME !!!

It all boils down to interpretations of the various clauses of the Constitution.

As Antifederalists, often led by Patrick Henry, had grave reservations that certain clauses in the Constitution like the "general welfare" clause would be too "liberally" interpreted, and eventually lead to a tyrannical government in the hands of the wrong people..... the Bill of Rights and subsequent amendments came to being.

Even the First Amendment where Congress "shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof".......is entirely twisted around to essentially prohibit one's exercise of any religion in a public manner...despite the fact that Christianity was the most important factor in shaping the Colonies.
When the country was founded....it was essentially made up of Puritans, Quakers, and Virginians (or Aristocrats). All three were certainly quite diverse, and yet each colony was quite adamant (and vigilant) against the interference of their religious rights (and freedoms) by the other! So, began the quest to formulate a government which would allow each to openly practice these rights without restriction or interference from each other nor from any "central" government. Hence the insistence of STATES RIGHTS !! In other words, it did not grant powers to the central government to interfere in the church-state relations as decided upon by any of the states individually.

Even the Civil War (or War Between the States ...as it more accurately was).....was not over slavery, but over the States Rights to secede.
The legal basis for secession (or States Rights) is found in the Tenth amend. which leaves any powers not delegated to the States....to the States.....thus, since there is no power given to suppress secession; so it remains a right reserved to the States.

Look at the Commerce Clause.....how all encompassing they have tried to make this become!! Just ridiculous!!

Even the 14th Amend....giving US citizenship to babies who "just happen" to be born on U.S. land....EVEN ILLEGALLY!!
How crazy is that!!!.....no one seems to pay attention to the words "and under the jurisdiction of"; nor do they look to the original intent under which this Amendment was adopted.

As you can see, constitutional interpretations, today, have long been slaughtered, mutilated, and essentially disfigured to protect powerful politicians, special interest groups, etc. It is destroying our Republic and the "freedoms" we once had !!

Mostly due to the creation and development of the "Nanny State" arising from a gradual deterioration of Individual responsibilty, morality and family values!!

YES ....the TIME HAS COME !!!

I'm posting this editorial from Ken Huber which depicts the dire situation we faced leading up to and throughout 2010.....

The question now is where do we go from here ????
With some promise of hope showing on the horizon as a result of Tea Party and Conservative Patriotism gains in the Nov 2, 2010 elections, we have reason to be CAUTIOUSLY OPTIMISTIC !!!

The tea party became a political juggernaut as sympathizers showed up at rallies, called in to talk radio and, most importantly, turned out at campaign events. Here, tea party activists demonstrate against government spending on Sept. 12 in Washington.

As many bloggers are now busy forecasting the next events....
all Washington and the Nation waits to see whether "newly-elected Tea Party-supported" candidates, now duly-elected politicians, WILL change and DO WHAT THEY CAMPAIGNED ON?? They have been warned to act like "adults" on tough votes involving the federal debt, government over-spending, tax reform, Obamacare, entitlement reforms, upholding the Constitution and stopping government's "over-reaching" policies....(some are already showing weak stomachs under the onslaught of entrenched lobbyists). Others have already been called out as hypocrites for consorting with Wall Street types and/or indulging in continued pork-barrel spending.

So.....it won't be too long before we will see how far the "trust" goes!
Will the Republican Party find that true "energizing" leader that will keep them on track and performing up to hopes and expectations of the now "not-so-silent majority"??
or...

Will a THIRD Political Party be in the offing should the Republicans fail again and show signs of crumbling under the weight of a still-broken, poorly-performing Congress?

Perhaps, as some believe (and wish), that some kind of merger amongst Tea Party groups, moderate Libertarians, Right-leaning Conservatives and other Independents will be the default result!?

Well, we all know TAX REFORM is needed!
And for those willing to "turn the page" and think "Fairly" and not "selfishly"....the ANSWER IS THE FAIR TAX !!!

PLEASE....Read, learn and UNDERSTAND THIS BILL....WE NEED ITS PASSAGE ASAP!

OK....One last topic I must address...FOREIGN POLICY!!!
There are really MANY others, but I will deal with those in separate posts.

For God's Sake, bring our soldiers home !!!.. and give up this insane concept of "nation-rebuilding" as a means of fighting this "War on Terror"!!

If any of you honestly believe that terrorist efforts are being diminished by our sacrificing our military in Afghanistan, you are sadly mistaken. Even the Taliban are simply "waiting us out".
For heaven's sake, we all know there are as many "terrorists" in our own backyard as in Afghanistan!!! Yup....and apparently they are just satisfied with the idea of providing us with a "death by a million cuts"!
And so what are we doing in Afghanistan??... Over 9 yrs of chasing who?? Where? Really now!!!
Oh,yes...."Winning the hearts & minds of the people", huh!? I sure remember that broken tune....different singers now, that's all!!
Are we to expect that this same "unsucessful" strategy will next be carried out in Yemen, or Somalia, ...or some other forsaken "pothole" that breeds fanatical discontent with Western culture?? Give me a break!!

Yes, use our intelligence (if we have any left) and take actions (with our military, if needed) to protect our vital nation interests; but let's not play these stupid games that we have chosen to follow ever since the horrendous days of Vietnam!

LET'S GIVE OUR SOLDIERS THE RESPECT THEY DESERVE...BRING THEM HOME!!

More on "TRAGEDY of the COMMONS"

Let's try an OPEN discussion of the merits of this principle which John Stossel of the FOX Business Channel calls a "Tragedy of the Commons".
It's an interesting and, I believe, very important principle as to why SOCIALISM fails.
It brings out the all-important need of having an "ownership" or, at least, a "vested" interest in things.....even into such policies as "government entitlements".

His opening story explains it:
"I first heard that phrase in a story about shepherds who lived around a grassy area they called a commons. Since the shepherds shared this free, green grass, they grabbed as much of it as possible. They brought many more sheep to graze. Soon ... all the grass was gone.
The sheep died, and the shepherds had nothing. Then then they divided the commons into parcels. Each shepherd owned one. Each had an incentive to limit the number of sheep that grazed on his grass. Prosperity happened, and everyone lived happily ever after."

In actuality, we see this "tragedy" displayed with the mentality
of so many of our "entitlement recipients".

Take WELFARE for instance.....

How many times do you think someone on Medicaid will schedule a visit to the Doctor "in their office" as opposed to "just going to the ER" for convenience sake alone??

It's much easier to just call it an "EMERGENCY" isn't it?? The grass is still plentiful, huh??

So, let's look at FOOD STAMPS. When do you think someone gave back any "un-needed" or unused stamps?.....
or would you think that anyone would be dis-honest enough to sell, trade or give away those un-needed stamps to someone else?? Tough question, huh?
