font-style: italic;font-family:trebuchet ms;&quot; &gt;Digital Citizenship&lt;/span&gt; &lt;span style=&quot;font-family:trebuchet ms;&quot;&gt;should be an integral part of learning in the digital age and this includes ethical use of resources. &lt;span style=&quot;font-style: italic;&quot;&gt;Creative Commons&lt;/span&gt; Select a date range to open and close your poll.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The site utilises GoogleMaps and provides some quick sharing options eg via Twitter, Facebook, Delicious, Digg and Reddit to promote your survey.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I experimented with a very quick poll,&lt;span style=&quot;font-style: italic;&quot;&gt; &lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;font-style: italic;font-family:trebuchet ms;&quot; id=&quot;questText&quot; &gt;&#39;&lt;a href=&quot;http://bit.ly/aHPXYc&quot;&gt;Is your school using mobile devices for mLearning?&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;font-style: italic;font-family:trebuchet ms;&quot; &gt;&#39;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;font-family:trebuchet ms;&quot;&gt; (mobile/cell/smart/ phone, iPod, iPodTouch/iPad, or similar) with a simple &lt;span style=&quot;font-style: italic;&quot;&gt;Yes &lt;/span&gt;or &lt;span style=&quot;font-style: italic;&quot;&gt;No &lt;/span&gt;choice to start with but have not promoted it.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;font-family:trebuchet ms;&quot;&gt;I hope to create a more complex poll on a social issue to test &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.surveymapper.com/&quot;&gt;SurveyMapper&#39;s&lt;/a&gt; functionality.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;font-family:trebuchet ms;&quot;&gt; I love the combination of a free and easy to use polling tool and visualization of results (via mapping eg. global), charts and geo-codes, all updated in real-time.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;font-family:trebuchet ms;&quot;&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;</description><link>http://southoz.blogspot.com/2010/08/real-time-pollingmapping.html</link><author>noreply@blogger.com (vonnie)</author><thr:total>0</thr:total></item><item><guid isPermaLink="false">tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8866913.post-7802068034884410212</guid><pubDate>Tue, 27 Jul 2010 10:35:00 +0000</pubDate><atom:updated>2010-07-27T20:08:42.257+09:30</atom:updated><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">poll</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">web2.0</category><title>Quick brainstorm</title><description>&lt;span style=&quot;font-family: trebuchet ms;font-family:trebuchet ms;&quot; &gt;Just checking out &lt;a href=&quot;http://answergarden.ch/&quot;&gt;Answer Garden&lt;/a&gt; quick feedback poll.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;font-family: trebuchet ms;&quot;&gt;Answer Garden claims to be &quot;A minimal tool for maximum feedback&quot;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;object classid=&quot;clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000&quot; codebase=&quot;http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,79,0&quot; width=&quot;420&quot; height=&quot;385&quot;&gt;&lt;param name=&quot;movie&quot; value=&quot;http://answergarden.ch/cloud.swf&quot;&gt;&lt;param name=&quot;quality&quot; value=&quot;high&quot;&gt;&lt;param name=&quot;wmode&quot; value=&quot;transparent&quot;&gt;&lt;param name=&quot;loop&quot; value=&quot;false&quot;&gt;&lt;param name=&quot;FlashVars&quot; value=&quot;cloudid=1170&amp;amp;unlimited=0&quot;&gt;&lt;embed src=&quot;http://answergarden.ch/cloud.swf&quot; flashvars=&quot;cloudid=1170&amp;amp;unlimited=0&quot; wmode=&quot;transparent&quot; quality=&quot;high&quot; pluginspage=&quot;http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer&quot; type=&quot;application/x-shockwave-flash&quot; loop=&quot;false&quot; width=&quot;420&quot; height=&quot;385&quot;&gt;&lt;/embed&gt;&lt;/object&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;small&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;http://answergarden.ch/1170&quot;&gt;What Web2.0 tool tops your list for use in education?...&lt;/a&gt; at &lt;a href=&quot;http://answergarden.ch/&quot;&gt;AnswerGarden.ch&lt;/a&gt;&lt;a&gt;.&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/small&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;</description><link>http://southoz.blogspot.com/2010/07/quick-brainstorm.html</link><author>noreply@blogger.com (vonnie)</author><thr:total>0</thr:total></item><item><guid isPermaLink="false">tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8866913.post-6532433974076550150</guid><pubDate>Wed, 30 Jun 2010 12:49:00 +0000</pubDate><atom:updated>2010-07-01T00:17:59.379+09:30</atom:updated><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">augmented reality</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">mobile learning</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">ubiquitous learning</category><title>Augmented Reality and Ubiquitous Learning</title><description>&lt;span style=&quot;;font-family:trebuchet ms;font-size:100%;&quot; &gt;Interest in &lt;span&gt;Augmented Reality&lt;/span&gt; (AR) and its potential for education has increased greatly in the past 6 months. It was part of a collaborative experience and sharing of knowledge after a team meeting. (Check a short explanation of QRCodes &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.beqrious.com/show/how-it-works&quot;&gt;here&lt;/a&gt;).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;font-family:trebuchet ms;&quot;&gt;We organised the route to suit a walk back from a lunch break and used the QRCodes and code readers on iPhones to scan and then locate the prize - a heritage item (40mm anti aircraft gun) located in the middle of Port Road at Hindmarsh.&lt;br /&gt;One member of the group, Paul created the original QRCode for the team and had secreted another at the spot. Once found and scanned, the QRCode link provided the essential additional information we needed, via a mobile site Paul had created.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;font-family:trebuchet ms;&quot;&gt;My &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.flickr.com/photos/southoz/4183372497/&quot;&gt;Flickr photo&lt;/a&gt; (Southoz) shows the team in the vicinity of the heritage &#39;bofors gun&#39; as we checked out Paul&#39;s mobile site after scanning the hidden QRCode. &lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a style=&quot;font-family: trebuchet ms;&quot; onblur=&quot;try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}&quot; href=&quot;http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2672/4183372497_a4fe3f4d75_m.jpg&quot;&gt;&lt;img style=&quot;margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; float: left; cursor: pointer; width: 240px; height: 180px;&quot; src=&quot;http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2672/4183372497_a4fe3f4d75_m.jpg&quot; alt=&quot;&quot; border=&quot;0&quot; /&gt;&lt;/a&gt;&lt;span style=&quot;font-family:trebuchet ms;&quot;&gt;Next, the team intended to use an iPhone app to locate a geocache nearby that was created as part of a previous teacher workshop. This geocache has been registered on &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.geocaching.com/&quot;&gt;Geocaching.com&lt;/a&gt; since 2004 (Pathway to the sea and hills) GCHTVX - check the Google map on the site in the vicinity of the brewery at Thebarton.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;It is a traditional cache, easy level of difficulty and easy terrain, to suit a group pf teachers getting started with geocaching. The site provides a very useful clue to locate the geocache.&lt;br /&gt;It has been discovered quite a few times in the past 5 years and is in need of a little TLC. Geocaching is even more popular now as an adventure activity, especially for family groups.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There is a lot of potential in using Geocaching and QRCodes creatively in education - literacy, numeracy, ICT, problem solving, teamwork and collaboration. The greater shift towards mobile and anywhere, anytime learning, increasing accessibility and connectedness and new tools make this easier than before.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;I recently discovered the excellent &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.beqrious.com/&quot;&gt;BeQRious&lt;/a&gt; site (via my Twitter PLN) which has a generator and many examples of use of QRCodes in a range of settings. Check my Delicious bookmarks for &lt;a href=&quot;http://delicious.com/vonnie/QRcodes&quot;&gt;QRCodes&lt;/a&gt; for other links.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Another area of interest is augmented reality and I am currently exploring &lt;a href=&quot;http://layar.com/2009/11/&quot;&gt;Layar&lt;/a&gt;.and Google Goggles. Check the &lt;a href=&quot;http://www.guardian.co.uk/travel/video/2009/dec/10/augmented-reality-travel-apps&quot;&gt;video.&lt;/a&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;a href=&quot;http://www.augmentedplanet.com/2009/12/google-goggles-what-this-means-for-augmented-reality/&quot;&gt;Augmented Planet&lt;/a&gt; also has an interesting recent post on Google Goggles and Augmented Reality.&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/span&gt; &lt;script type=&quot;text/javascript&quot;&gt;var gaJsHost = ((&quot;https:&quot; == document.location.protocol) ? &quot;https://ssl.&quot; : &quot;http://www.&quot;);document.write(unescape(&quot;%3Cscript src=&#39;&quot; + gaJsHost + &quot;google-analytics.com/ga.js&#39; type=&#39;text/javascript&#39;%3E%3C/script%3E&quot;));&lt;/script&gt;&lt;script src=&quot;http://www.google-analytics.com/ga.js&quot; type=&quot;text/javascript&quot;&gt;&lt;/script&gt;&lt;script type=&quot;text/javascript&quot;&gt;try {var pageTracker = _gat._getTracker(&quot;UA-10287681-2&quot;);pageTracker._trackPageview();} catch(err) {}&lt;/script&gt; &lt;div class=&quot;code&quot;&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</description><link>http://southoz.blogspot.com/2009/12/creativity-qrcodes-and-geocaching.html</link><author>noreply@blogger.com (vonnie)</author><media:thumbnail xmlns:media="http://search.yahoo.com/mrss/" url="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2672/4183372497_a4fe3f4d75_t.jpg" height="72" width="72"/><thr:total>0</thr:total></item><item><guid isPermaLink="false">tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8866913.post-7422144442845132169</guid><pubDate>Tue, 22 Sep 2009 12:04:00 +0000</pubDate><atom:updated>2009-09-22T21:44:25.230+09:30</atom:updated><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">PLN</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">Twitter</category><category domain="http://www.blogger.com/atom/ns#">twitterapps</category><title>Twitter for Busy People</title><description>&lt;a href=&quot;http://t4bp.com/&quot;&gt;Twitter for Busy People&lt;/a&gt; is one of my favourite Twitter tools. This video was taken in the area known as &#39;the fenceline&#39; off Point Lowly, Whyalla in South Australia.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;This area is one of only two places in the world where this spectacular annual event occurs. It is a major tourist attraction for divers from around the globe.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;object type=&quot;application/x-shockwave-flash&quot; data=&quot;http://www.flickr.com/apps/video/stewart.swf?v=71377&quot; classid=&quot;clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000&quot; width=&quot;400&quot; height=&quot;300&quot;&gt; &lt;param name=&quot;flashvars&quot; value=&quot;intl_lang=en-us&amp;amp;photo_secret=6387b2dcdb&amp;amp;photo_id=3606356773&amp;amp;flickr_show_info_box=true&quot;&gt; &lt;param name=&quot;movie&quot; value=&quot;http://www.flickr.com/apps/video/stewart.swf?v=71377&quot;&gt; &lt;param name=&quot;bgcolor&quot; value=&quot;#000000&quot;&gt; &lt;param name=&quot;allowFullScreen&quot; value=&quot;true&quot;&gt;&lt;embed type=&quot;application/x-shockwave-flash&quot; src=&quot;http://www.flickr.com/apps/video/stewart.swf?v=71377&quot; bgcolor=&quot;#000000&quot; allowfullscreen=&quot;true&quot; flashvars=&quot;intl_lang=en-us&amp;amp;photo_secret=6387b2dcdb&amp;amp;photo_id=3606356773&amp;amp;flickr_show_info_box=true&quot; width=&quot;400&quot; height=&quot;300&quot;&gt;&lt;/embed&gt;&lt;/object&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The site is under threat from a proposed desalination plant for an outback mining venture and new wharf facilities for another new mining proposal. It came to my attention, courtesy of my &lt;a href=&quot;http://twitter.com/&quot;&gt;Twitter&lt;/a&gt; network.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Derek provides a compelling case for re-shaping new curriculum in the 21st century to encompass new technologies/tools and new literacies for current and future generations .&lt;br /&gt;This keynote, tailored for his audience, has a focus on&lt;blockquote style=&quot;font-style: italic;&quot;&gt;&quot;the potential for ICTs to be used to enable better learning for adult literacy students.&quot;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;/blockquote&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;div style=&quot;width: 425px; text-align: left;&quot; id=&quot;__ss_1477296&quot;&gt;&lt;a style=&quot;margin: 12px 0pt 3px; font-family: Helvetica,Arial,Sans-serif; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: normal; font-size: 14px; line-height: normal; font-size-adjust: none; font-stretch: normal; display: block; text-decoration: underline;&quot; href=&quot;http://www.slideshare.net/dwenmoth/challenges-change-and-trends-1477296?type=powerpoint&quot; title=&quot;Challenges, change and trends&quot;&gt;Challenges, change and trends&lt;/a&gt;&lt;object style=&quot;margin: 0px;&quot; width=&quot;425&quot; height=&quot;355&quot;&gt;&lt;param name=&quot;movie&quot; value=&quot;http://static.slidesharecdn.com/swf/ssplayer2.swf?doc=alpaconferencemay09web-090522211406-phpapp02&amp;amp;stripped_title=challenges-change-and-trends-1477296&quot;&gt;&lt;param name=&quot;allowFullScreen&quot; value=&quot;true&quot;&gt;&lt;param name=&quot;allowScriptAccess&quot; value=&quot;always&quot;&gt;&lt;embed src=&quot;http://static.slidesharecdn.com/swf/ssplayer2.swf?doc=alpaconferencemay09web-090522211406-phpapp02&amp;amp;stripped_title=challenges-change-and-trends-1477296&quot; type=&quot;application/x-shockwave-flash&quot; allowscriptaccess=&quot;always&quot; allowfullscreen=&quot;true&quot; width=&quot;425&quot; height=&quot;355&quot;&gt;&lt;/embed&gt;&lt;/object&gt;&lt;div style=&quot;font-size: 11px; font-family: tahoma, arial; height: 26px; padding-top: 2px;&quot;&gt;View more &lt;a style=&quot;text-decoration: underline;&quot; href=&quot;http://www.slideshare.net/&quot;&gt;OpenOffice presentations&lt;/a&gt; from &lt;a style=&quot;text-decoration: underline;&quot; href=&quot;http://www.slideshare.net/dwenmoth&quot;&gt;dwenmoth&lt;/a&gt;.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;One slide provides an interesting comparison between communication technologies - &lt;span style=&quot;font-style: italic;&quot;&gt;then, now and next?&lt;/span&gt; with future technologies enabling pervasive, ubiquitous access and use (new media) and new literacies for the 21st century.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Derek puts out a number of challenges to educators including:&lt;br /&gt;&lt;blockquote style=&quot;font-style: italic;&quot;&gt;&quot; To what extent are we prepared, as a society and as educators, for the massive changes in human capabilities that digital technologies are likely to enable in the next 13 years?&lt;br /&gt;To what extent are our future visions for education based upon assumptions about humanity, society and technology that are no longer valid?&quot; &lt;/blockquote&gt;How does this fit with the current emphasis in many countries on new/revised curriculum and increased focus on testing a narrow view of what constitutes literacy?&lt;br /&gt;What will the next 13 years bring for the youngsters (born in 2008) featured in the first slide ?</description><link>http://southoz.blogspot.com/2009/05/21st-century-challenges-change-and.html</link><author>noreply@blogger.com (vonnie)</author><thr:total>0</thr:total></item></channel></rss>
