Extraordinary Love

The power of love is endless. It can tickle your fancy, make your heart skip a beat, catch you off guard, cause you to smile from ear to ear, tuck you in at night and make you do things you never thought you would do.

Love frees the senses. It is extraordinary. Yet people build self-imposed prisons and spend most of their lives trying to break out, not knowing that love can set them free. The many ways it can set you free is to not have expectations, let it be naturally.

The perils of love are definitely not for the faint of heart. The upside of love take you through the whirlwind of passion, cranks your temperature up, brings color to your face and makes you feel like you are on the top of the world.

The other side of love -- the dark side, drags you through the mud, makes you doubt that you are worthy and decimates you for what seems like an eternity -- that is human love.

Human love has it’s limitations, limited to what resides in your human consciousness, but sometimes it surprises me. The purest love comes from that source within you that connects you to your ultimate source; the place where love is cultivated.

You have a choice whether to love yourself or not. Whether to suffer the pains that enslave your spirit or gracefully traverse through the bad experiences and hold on to good ones. Any way you look at it, it’s the amount of experiences -- good or bad -- that fossilize your experience with your inner most being.

If you place love against fear, love will win every time. Love responds, fear reacts. Love connects, fear separates. Love uplifts, fear deflates. Love creates, fear destroys.

Love is amazing. It makes darkness into light. It makes you who you are, it transforms you to strive, reach for the stars, the moon, the heavens. When you are feeling love, you are in your highest form. When you feel love, you are love. The journey of soul has many routes that can sometimes detour you from your destination.

Go about your life with love in your thoughts, heart and actions. Love is profound and the many sonnets written about it don’t do it justice. Love needs no reason, it just is.

We are all energies of light orbiting towards each other to resonate love and harmony. Tap into your extraordinariness.

Negativity Exodus

And Satan said, “It doesn't get any better than this.”

And so God created Man in his own image; male and female created he them. And God looked upon Man and Woman and saw that they were lean and fit.

And Satan said, “I know how I can get back in this game.”

And God populated the earth with broccoli and cauliflower and spinach, green and yellow vegetables of all kinds, so Man and Woman would live long and healthy lives.

And Satan created McDonald’s.

And McDonald’s brought forth the 99-cent double cheeseburger.

And Satan said to Man, “You want fries with that?”

And Man said, “Supersize them.” And Man gained 5 pounds.

And God created the healthful yogurt, that woman might keep her figure that man found so fair.

And Satan brought forth chocolate.

And Woman gained 5 pounds. And God said, “Try my crispy fresh salad.”

And Satan brought forth Ben and Jerry’s.

And Woman gained 10 pounds. And God said, “I have sent thee heart-healthy vegetables and olive oil with which to cook them.”

And Satan brought forth chicken-fried steak so big it needed its own platter.

And Man gained 10 pounds and his bad cholesterol went through the roof. And God brought forth running shoes and Man resolved to lose those extra pounds.

And Satan brought forth cable TV with remote control so Man would not have to toil to change channels between ESPN and ESPN2.

And Man gained another 20 pounds. And God said, “You're running up the score, Devil.” And God brought forth the potato, a vegetable naturally low in fat and brimming with nutrition.

And Satan peeled off the healthful skin and sliced the starchy center into chips and deep-fat fried them. He then created sour cream dip.

And Man clutched his remote control and ate the potato chips swaddled in cholesterol.

And Satan saw and said, “It is good.” And Man went into cardiac arrest.

And God sighed and created quadruple bypass surgery.

And Satan created HMO's.

And God said, let people earn money so that they may live the quality life they desire. And Satan invented the I.R.S.

Life's Great Mystery

I am an enigma. I know myself pretty well, but there are still some things waiting to be activated in the recesses of my life experience that I don’t know yet.

Though I don’t know what’s around the corner, I don’t want to know. If I knew, I wouldn’t give today my full attention. I don’t like spoiler alerts; I don’t want to know what happens in the story until I get to the end.

We are all at the precipice of crisis, achievement, revelation, success, failure, our greatest love, greatest loss, etc. They are already written into the story and if we knew what they were and exactly when they were supposed to happen, that would detract from life’s great mystery.

The pages of self are sometimes repeated, the same lesson may appear in different characters. If you don’t recognize them, they will hang around until you do.

If they don’t get your attention, they are with you for life. But who am I to tell you what your life holds for you? It will be revealed when it is revealed.

When it is exposed, it may make you happy, angry, surprised, sad, overjoyed, shocked, hurt, frightened, regretful, or at a loss for words. It may shake you to your core. Life is a series of experiences that bring forth emotions and change.

There are signs and choices at every turn that reveal a little of the mystery and you are likely to make decisions that will propel you forward. You will also make decisions that you will regret, but at the time they will seem quite right.

You may decide not to decide. Everything you do is a direct result of everything you are, that’s why it doesn’t hurt to know yourself.

Knowing yourself is memorizing your experiences, knowing how each made you feel and knowing which ones not to repeat.

It’s like taking a journey into a vast ocean and swimming to the shore of soul. Once you arrive, you seek challenges, stretch your imagination, reeducate yourself, and in getting to know yourself, you also get to know others.

We all leave our home just to come back with bags of knowledge that we gathered on our journey. The next step is to teach what we learned. By passing on our knowledge, it increases the knowledge of the world.

You are at the helm of an amazing voyage.

Take A Moment

Are you a person who finds yourself repeating, “I don’t have time?”

When we don’t want to do something then we “don’t have time,” but we all have time to do what we really want, there’s no excuse.

There are genuine instances when we run out of time because we fill it with so many activities and then we regret not spending enough time doing other activities.

Here’s something that won’t take long.

Be good to everyone who has ever been good to you. Take a moment - every moment to appreciate the love in your life. Take the time.

Don't Carry Burdens

When explaining stress management to an audience, a lecturer, raised a glass of water and asked, “How heavy is this glass of water?”

Answers called out ranged from 20g to 500g. The lecturer replied, “The absolute weight doesn’t matter. It depends on how long you try to hold it.”

“If I hold it for a minute, that’s not a problem. If I hold it for an hour, I’ll have an ache in my right arm. If I hold it for a day, you’ll have to call an ambulance. In each case, it’s the same weight, but the longer I hold it, the heavier it becomes.”

He continued, “And that’s the way it is with stress management. If we carry our burdens all the time, sooner or later, as the burden becomes increasingly heavy, we won’t be able to carry on. As with the glass of water, you have to put it down.”

“So, before you return home, put the burden of work down. Don’t carry it home. You can pick it up tomorrow. Whatever burdens you’re carrying now, let them down. Life is short. Enjoy it!”

Then he shared some ways of dealing with the burdens of life:

Accept that some days you're the pigeon, and some days you’re the statue.

Always keep your words soft and sweet, just in case you have to eat them.

Drive carefully. It’s not only cars that can be recalled by their maker.

Never put both feet in your mouth at the same time, then you won't have a leg to stand on.

Nobody cares if you can’t dance well. Just get up and dance.

Since it’s the early worm that gets eaten by the bird, sleep late.

The second mouse gets the cheese.

You may be only one person in the world to some people, but to one person, you may be the world.

Angels Are Among Us

I have always loved the concept of guardian angels. It’s a subject close to my heart. The idea that an invisible or visible entity is always around me is exciting.

When I share this idea with people, those who agree light up like I’m speaking their language, but those who disagree shout, “No comprende?” and look at me like I’ve escaped from the loony bin. They just don’t understand that angels are among us.

One such naysayer is a friend, I’ll call 'Martino.' Martino always finds time to shoot down everything I say about “unearthly things” such as guardian angels. That is, until he found himself in the middle of a deserted airport at 2:00 a.m.

After a busy day, packing, preparing, and scheduling people on the other side, he arrived at Los Angeles International Airport for his flight to London.

It was the usual mayhem; cars pulling up to the curb, police officers motioning for them to move, luggage, trolleys, hugs, kisses, tears, etc.

It took him forever to go from one check point to another, like he was “crossing enemy lines,” he recalled. He had an unopened bottle of water which was immediately taken from him and destroyed like it was a bomb.

He and fellow travelers were all being herded from one queue to another until they got to the gate.

Kicking himself for not drinking the bottle water before it was confiscated, his throat was beginning to get dry as he was rapidly becoming dehydrated.

If he left the queue to get water, he would lose his place and he had already been waiting two hours.

As he made his way to the gate, he began to feel as though he was walking across the desert with no oasis in sight.

All the shops had closed by now, which meant that water was out of the question. To add insult to injury, the flight was delayed.

Sitting in a row of seats by himself, he noticed a bottle of water rolling right towards him, stopping at his feet.

He looked around to see who was going to claim it. After ten minutes, no one came.

He opened the bottle and drank it until it all had slid down his throat. Never before had he tasted water so sweet.

He sat there and thought about this incident. Asking himself, “Who knew I was thirsty? Was someone following me? Are they always following me?”

Even after he finished the water, he looked around for the rightful owner. He would have paid double, even triple for that water, but no one was looking for it.

When Martino first told me this story, I avoided saying, “See, I told you angels existed.” I just let him come to the realization himself.

After all, if angels didn’t exist, there would be no angel food cake, angelfish or you reading this.

We are all part of the angel network. We are here to uplift each other in times of trouble and joy.

If any place needs angels, it sure is the airport. Martino is now a proud member of the “I Believe In Angels” club. Though his machismo would never let him admit it, we all know the truth now.

There are many people out there with light. If you are one of them, be the guide through the tunnel.

Light someone’s way through courtesy, kindness, compassion and tenderness. The more you use your light, the more light you are given.

Be the light at end of the someone’s tunnel and make the way home together.

Speaking Storms

The storm warnings were fierce. A hurricane was about to hit the city and it was predicted to demolish it within a matter of minutes.

Black clouds and lightening storms had already begun to persuade nature’s fury. Everyone within miles of the storm were warned. They began a mass exodus.

The storm came pounding down, uprooting trees, structures and slapping everything back and forth.

A man was stuck in his house watching people go by. The flood water in his house was rising rapidly as he stared out of the window.

A neighbor saw him and offered him a ride on his wagon. The man responded, “I'm waiting for God.”

So the neighbor left. Minutes later, the waters were rising higher in the man’s house.

Another neighbor went past on a camel. He offered the man a ride to safety. “No I'm waiting for God to save me,” the helpless man said.

Now the waters had risen very high and the man was standing on his roof still waiting for God.

Another man came by in a boat, saw the man in despair and told him to come aboard. The defenseless man still refused and shouted, “I'm waiting for God!”

Moments later the waters rose even higher and the man drowned. When he got to Heaven, he was angry. He demanded to see God immediately.

When his turn came, he asked God, “Why didn't you save me?” God said. “I sent someone to save you three times and you refused, what else could I do?”

When we ask for God’s help, it may not come in the form that we expect, but it comes nevertheless.

The storms of life speak to us if we listen.

The next time you ask, make sure you really want it or it may pass you by.

F For Frustration

It happens. You do things and get frustrated when they don’t turn out how you want them. When you don’t get what you want and want what you don’t have, it’s frustrating. Like a growling tiger or bear, you strike out at whoever is in front of you, making a bad situation worse.

Frustration is a motivation blocker. Once motivation is blocked, there is no desire to accomplish. That puts your frustration on the fast track to hell, but before the frustration demons completely surface and destroy you, there are some techniques you can employ.

Acceptance. I know it’s easier said than done, but once you accept that you are frustrated, stop what you are doing and do something else. Separate yourself from the situation, rethink about solutions without being in the middle of frustration. Getting distance gives you a new perspective.

Talk About It. Confide in a trustworthy friend or colleague and share your feelings. They may have gone through a similar situation with the perfect solution. It’s easier for someone else to give advice when it doesn’t involve them. Sometimes pearls of wisdom come from where you least expect them.

Don’t Think of Yourself As a Failure. Doing is taking action. Not doing is failing. Even if what you do doesn’t warrant your results, you still took action to do. Like the great alien sage Yoda said, “Do or do not, there is no try.”

Put Your Body in Motion. Start moving. Walk, run, jump, hop, skip, hike, play ball. Moving your body takes the attention off frustration. Exercise is the essential brain power booster, stress reducer, energy amplifier, and stamina promoter which all add up to less frustration.

Deep breathing. Inhale through your nose, hold it, exhale through your mouth. Repeat. You will appreciate this more as you continue to do it. The benefits are phenomenal for getting your mental, emotional and physical bodies aligned.

Give Advice on Overcoming Frustration. As ironic as it may sound, giving advice takes you out of your frustration and helps you organize your thoughts. Empathizing with someone else may pinpoint what you need for future frustration.

Surrender. Though frustration feels like war, surrendering may be the logical next step after you’ve gone through the initial steps. Surrendering is not giving up, it’s opening yourself up to other solutions from the universe. You’re not saying, “I give up,” you are saying, “I am open to the answers.”

Understanding. Knowing that frustration is not permanent may help you come to the realization that you are unfolding every minute, sometimes you just don’t get the memo.

School Of You

Each day holds it’s own surprises, calculations, questions, tests, answers, silences and your reactions to them. They all make up your internal curriculum.

You are enrolled in school for life. Consciousness is the tailor that takes measurements and makes alterations to your inner suit, retrofitting your expansion.

Make today your best day and put your best suit forward. Where you focus your attention is where you are.

Billion Dollar Babies

Like I mentioned in an earlier post, I love seeing babies in commercials. Babies are advertisers little darlings and massively successful selling machines. There is a reason advertisers use babies - they get attention.

Following are some of my favorites. I hope you will enjoy them as much as I do.

Parents so excited over the new Pepsi NEXT that their baby has to compete for attention, performing some amazing stunts that the parents never see.

Two young men in the front seats and a toddler in the back are trying to get to an event but are slowed down by an older male driver. The toddler has choice words once they are along side of him. “Che cosi guardi?” (“What are you looking at?”)

Thinking his son isn’t much of a talker yet, a father offers his son a bite of sundae, but only if he can pronounce antidisestablishmentarianism.

A fun and wild ride compliments of rollerskating toddlers having a good time.

Oreos Breast-feeding Controversy

I happen to love commercials with babies. They are usually funnier and more entertaining than the average commercial. From the E*trade commercial baby to the rollerskating Evian babies, there’s something very appealing about these little darlings.

A new Oreo commercial, reportedly playing in South Korea has created controversy from it’s explicit use of a woman breast-feeding a baby who is holding an Oreo with the tagline “Milk’s Favorite Cookie.”

Like anything in the “viral” world of the internet, the exposure is getting quite a bit of coverage, not because it’s about cookies but because it’s exposing the flippant side of advertising.

The Oreo commercial hasn’t even been played in America and it’s already causing outrage. Kraft, the company responsible, won’t even talk about it and there are no current plans to air it here.

If all is fair in love and war, that leaves advertising wide open. Boundaries in advertising have always been stretched to the limit, but nowadays limits are being stretched.

Advertisers aim for your buttons and push them as hard as they can hoping to get you to buy, buy, buy, before you go bye, bye, bye.

I don’t know why advertisers feel that they have to objectify women to sell their products. Women are objectified in television, film, billboards, magazines - all over the media. We are derided at our own expense just to make a profit for someone else.

Women are casualties in the advertising war. When an advertiser mocks a mother’s natural duty to feed her child, they put decency up for auction. When decency is up for auction, hell’s handbasket is overcrowded.

Advertisers want to get more intimate with you, to show you that they mean business, it’s nothing personal. They are putting more out there to compete with each other and to get your money, but if they want your money, they should’t insult half their audience with their commercials.

Had the tables been turned and a man’s body parts were used to advertise spaghetti and meatballs, the concept would not have made it off the storyboards, so why isn’t a woman’s body just as sacred.

To get you to drop your guard, advertisers are brazen, unorthodox and out of bounds, but there is really no reason to cry over spilled milk. If I had to judge it on whether this commercial got my attention, it did. If I judge the way it was done, it was in poor taste.

If advertisers wanted to get my attention in a positive way, they could have shown a baby with a bottle and an Oreo; that would have been something unique and not offensive.

A woman’s body should be a shrine unto herself, not littered with advertising slogans that pander to the twisted fantasies of an advertising executive.

For now I will try to get that image out of my head when I saunter down the cookie aisle and choose another brand of cookie to compliment my milk. That’s just the way the cookie crumbles.

Flex Your Muscles

You are a living organism. Billions of microscopic pieces working together to benefit your physical body -- a single body of cells, tissues, organs and systems.

Some of us work hard at maintaining an attractive outer body, but we neglect our inner body -- the one that really matters.

There are around 640 named muscles in the human body - in addition to thousands of smaller (unnamed) muscles. The function of a muscle is to produce force and cause motion.

You may say that the soul too is a muscle. Although technically it is not an organ, it is still a conscious organism that needs you to function. To produce movement. To flex.

Your soul is in perpetual motion to entice you into clear consciousness, bring you to a level when you can rise above mental and emotional debris, soften the harsh blows of life and alleviate earthly pressures.

You can relieve your pain instead of reliving it. You can mend a heart, instead of breaking one. You can dry a tear, instead of making one.

You can build someone up, instead of tearing them down. Make someone’s day. Give someone a good memory.

Love is the only reason you are here. You are nothing more than a shell before God fits you with a real soul.

Love is risk, sometimes it pays, sometimes it doesn’t, but don’t let that deter you from loving.

Flex your inner muscle. Love like you have never loved before. Go on, make someone’s day.

When Your Back's Against The Wall

You may not be aware of how it happens, why it happens or when it’s going to happen, but I can say with an adequate amount of certainty that at one time or another, your back has probably been against the wall and you wondered how it got there.

You probably felt trapped, helpless or that there was nothing you could do, but somehow in the middle of your backwall mark, a miracle occurred.

Through your will or the will of those surrounding you, you were able to go forward and you’re still here to talk about it.

When you are 'backwalled', you are in a panic, your mind is racing, you can’t think straight and every decision is rushed.

If you think about where you are and what you can do, the only direction you can go is forward.

It may take all that you have to get away from the wall, but you can do it by being honest with yourself, admitting you made mistakes and starting over.

Surrendering to change is one of the most difficult tasks you have as a spiritual being, and knowing your capacity for change, it’s a no brainer.

Though you may not welcome change, it is very welcoming. The longer you procrastinate, the harder change will be.

Remember the old joke, “How many psychiatrists does it take to change a lightbulb? One, but it really has to want to change.

That joke needs a bit of adjustment. A psychiatrist can’t change you at all, only change can.

Whether your back’s against the wall or not, you can always go forward. As you are moving forward, you are changing automatically.

Welcome the change.

Modern Banking Patrons

Remember the days before ATM’s? I can. They were days where you stood in line forever, had to present two forms of photo identification, a thumb print, a hair, blood and urine sample and dental records.

Now it’s easier than ever to do a banking transaction. You can do it by calling the bank, or pressing a few numbers on your cell phone without calling or online - all without having to walk into the bank. I admit, I prefer online banking to traditional banking.

Occasionally I have to go to the bank in person. An interesting thing happened at the bank the other day. I was standing at the ATM which is inside the bank.

No one else was in the bank at the time. The bank tellers were filing their nails and talking the latest reality TV gossip while waiting for patrons.

When I was finished at the ATM, there were 10 people behind me waiting and no one went to the tellers where it would have been faster. I overheard one woman behind me say she had to deposit 40 checks.

Though the tellers made it obvious that they were available, she still preferred the ATM. The bank manager even walked over and tried to corral patrons to the tellers without any luck.

Have we become so used to not talking to people that we actually prefer machines? Has social networking, IM-ing, texting, and language abbreviations all contributed to the decline of socialization?

Would we rather use shortcuts in our lives than to enlarge them with full keyboard strokes and tete-a-tete conversations with live people?

The short answer - yes. I asked a friend why he prefers ATM’s over tellers, he simply replied, “Machines make less mistakes and they are lot nicer.”

People have traded “old fashion conversations” and transactions for the more advanced nano socialization. Nano means dwarf in Greek.

They don’t have time to speak full words, they use dwarfed words like “invite” instead of invitation and “apps” instead of applications.

My friend also said that he prefers ATM’s over tellers because he can tell them what to do and have them do it without the upsell.

I guess tellers days are numbered, unless they think of getting into the ATM’s themselves to take transactions.

For now, even though sometimes I entertain myself at the ATM, I am in that rare percentage of talking to real people, including tellers. It’s actually a lot quicker that using the ATM, which sometimes malfunctions.

Perhaps in the future, ATM’s will be the tellers and people will long for the days of hearing a voice on the other side asking, “How’s your day going?”

I know the “official” timing to celebrate Mother’s Day is little off, but mothers really should be celebrated everyday, not just one day a year. Mother’s Day is celebrated in Australia, Mexico, Denmark, Finland, Italy, Turkey, Belgium, Russia, China, Thailand and America.

This trivia is for all mothers who work tirelessly for their children. I praise you all. Keep up the good work.

Anna Jarvis of Philadelphia decided thought that it would be a wonderful way to honor her deceased mother. Jarvis and friends began a letter-writing campaign to create a Mother’s Day observance. She asked that white carnations be the official mother’s day symbol. In 1914, President Woodrow Wilson signed the orders that made Mother’s Day a national holiday.

Nine years later, Anna filed a lawsuit in an effort to stop it’s over-commercialization. She lost her fight. Now, cards, letters, candy and dinners mark Mother’s Day for most families. Anna had hoped for a day of reflection and quiet prayer by families, thanking God for all that mothers had done.

In the vast majority of the world’s languages, the word for “mother” begins with the letter M.

It is a tradition in China that family names often begin with a sign that means “mother.” It is a way of honoring their moms long past.

Japan’s Imperial family traces its descent from Omikami Amaterasu, the Mother of the World.

Ancient Greeks used to honor Rhea, “mother” of the gods with honey-cakes, fine drinks and flowers at dawn.

Hindu scripture credits the Great Mother, Kali Ma, with the invention of writing through alphabets, pictographs and beautiful sacred images.

Native American Indian women have long been honored with the name, “Life of the Nation” for their gift of motherhood to the tribes.

Buddha honored mothers when he said, “As a mother, even at the risk of her own life, loves and protects her child, so let a man cultivate love without measure toward the whole world.”

According to the Guinness Book of Records, Mrs. Vassilyev of Russia gave birth to 69 children between 1725 and 1765. She had 4 sets of quadruplets, 7 sets of triplets and 16 sets of twins.

In 1955, Signora Carmelina Fedele gave birth to the heaviest infant, a 22 lb 8 oz boy in Italy.

The oldest mother on record is Rosanna Dalla Corte who gave birth to a baby boy in 1994 when she was 63 years old.

Mother Goose is one of the most popular of all children’s entertainers. Her books and stories have been loved for many generations.

During the 1600’s, England celebrated a day called “Mothering Sunday.” Servants would go home to see their families, bringing cakes and sweets to their moms. This custom was called “going a-mothering.” Each mother would receive a simnel-cake (Latin for “fine flour”) and mothers would give a blessing to their children.

In Europe, people on Mother’s Day honor their mothers as well as the church. They respect the “Mother Church”- the spiritual power that gave them life and protected them from harm. The church festival got blended with the Mothering Sunday celebration.

In Yugoslavia on “Materitse,” or Mother’s Day, the children tie up their mother, releasing her only when she has paid them with sweets or other goodies.

In France Mother’s Day is referred to as Fete des Meres. It provides children and adults to honor their mothers and give her gifts and treats. Mother’s Day is celebrated on the last Sunday in May. It is treated more like a family birthday where everyone in the family gathers for a special meal.

In Spain Mother’s Day is celebrated on 8th December. It is closely associated with Mother Mary. Children send special cards, chocolates, flowers and other presents to their mothers and many children make their own presents for their mothers.

In Sweden Mother’s Day is on the last Sunday in May and is a family holiday. The Swedish Red Cross sells small plastic flowers on the days leading up to Mother’s Day. The money raised from the sale of the flowers is used to help needy mothers and their children.

Growing up in Los Angeles cosmetic surgery is almost second nature. It’s not just for film stars anymore. Everyday people get procedures done, even mothers.

Everybody Doesn’t Have To Agree With You

Some people assume that when they express an opinion, everyone has to agree with them.

This type of person is so self-insulated that they can’t hear anything else except, “I agree.”

The first person to challenge the opinion of this type of person is thought of as a pariah.

I witnessed this the other day as I accompanied a friend to a meeting. He lives in a private community where they pay dues to maintain the buildings, streets, landscaping, clubhouse and other amenities of the neighborhood.

Though there was nothing wrong with the design of the main clubhouse, it had been redesigned because “there was money in the budget.”

The design went from being cheerful and inviting to being morose and repellent.

The colors went from being off white with colorful accents, to being gray and black with carpet that looked like cheap wrapping paper.

When my friend confronted the designer on what he felt was a dreadful choice of design and a waste of home owner funds, she told him that his opinion was, “wrong.”

As I sat back an observed her tense body language, she looked shocked that someone other than her had an opinion.

She defended herself by shouting to my friend, “Are you a professional designer?,” and quickly ran from the room before he could answer.

You can have a professional opinion, you can have an amateur opinion, but an opinion is not a profession.

It’s a result of how you feel based on experience, knowledge or nothing you can pinpoint. It’s an appraisal or personal view.

There’s a reason an opinion is called an opinion - it’s yours and no one can take it from you no matter what they do.

They can deny you your opinion, scoff at it, ignore it, abhor it, and erroneously say that you have no right to your opinion, but they can’t take it from you.

Opinion is from the latin word “opinari” - to believe, to think. Some opinions can cause anger, altercations, ill feelings and even war. People have been silenced and some have even died because of their opinion.

Some judges, doctors and other professionals get it wrong based on professional opinion. There are many opinions on spiritual doctrine and how the universe was formed, it doesn’t mean you have to agree with them.

You should never forfeit your opinion no matter how hard someone wants you to do it.

Sometimes you may not want to express it, but at least give yourself that option. You have a right to the way you feel without being influenced by ‘opinion bullies;’(people who want you to agree with them and not think for yourself).

While you would probably like people to agree with your opinion, it’s okay if they don’t. They may offer you another point of view that you never thought about.

You may change or enhance your opinion, but at least all parties should have the opportunity to express how they feel.

If you don’t learn the value of your own opinion, you will always rely on the opinion of others. That’s just my opinion.

Unstick Yourself

Everybody has to navigate through the trials of love and loss.

What makes you different is the your outcome - your disposition - the result of your action - how you drive through the tunnels and take detours to get back on the road.

Even though you may feel helpless, taking action is the best way to get through those feelings that keep you stuck in your own head and from moving forward.
