We Can Hide Any Open Application Window in Windows Operating System

During the development of my one of the projects I wanted to hide Firefox web browser window. I was using HtmlUnitDriver to automate something but using it we cannot hide any web browser window, i did some research and some across one very good tool called AutoIt , It has all the capability to handle windows. We can perform all kinds of operations using AutoIt.

Let me tell you how we can implement utility which can help us to Hide and again show any application window.

Please follow below steps one by one.

You have to first install AutoIt, it is free.

SOAP means "Simple Object Access Protocol" which is used to exchange information on the web. We have already seen how we can send and receive Soap requests programmatically using Java, but today I will teach you how to use the SoapUI tool to generate traffic.

soapUI is one of the best tools which can be used to send and receive soap requests and it does not require any kind of programming knowledge. It is a very simple tool and used widely all over the world for API functionality as well as load testing.

Today in this article we will see how we can make use of this soapUI tool to perform load testing or to generate traffic.

Well, starting a load test using SOAP UI tool is fairly easy and would only take couple of minutes to get it going. If you have used SOAP UI tool for functional testing then you can configure the tool quickly to generate traffic.

Steps:

#1. Connect the soapUI tool with the application by creating a project and providing appropriate WSDL url.

Capturing Desktop Screenshots Using Java Programming

I usually spend my time in designing and developing software test automation frameworks. I have used Quick Test Professional (one of the best software test automation tools) and in Quick Test Professional tool we have different options for capturing the screenshots which is really helpful for the testers to analyze final automation results.

Capturing the screenshot at all failed checkpoints can help testers to analyze the result easily and also it can help testers to understand to root cause of the problem immediately.

Currently I am working on another Automation framework called Selenium. I am new to selenium and every day I am learning new things. My experience says, capturing the screenshot at each checkpoint (verification points into the automated testcases) is really very helpful for the person analyzing the test result. I don't know whether selenium has such in-built functionality but using Java programming we can definitely perform this task very easily.

We can capture different size of screenshots using Java programming language. Let's go through the each steps required to capture screenshots using Java programming.

Recently I have done some work in Java for automation framework development. During the project I have used java APIs for excel operations. Today I was running some SQL Queries and I wanted to redirect all the output of my SQL Queries to one file. Initially I thought it can be done similarly to how we usually do it in UNIX command prompt (simply redirecting output of a command to a file using > or >>) but it didn't work.

Before searching on Internet, I first preferred to ask my senior for the solution and came to know the easiest solution for the problem and it is a very simple method. Let me share with you the solution.

Today I was looking for the solution or query/command which can help me to improve the sql prompt display by increasing the width of the Column and also the length of the Line..

To Increase the line in sql prompt you can use following commands.
SET LINESIZE 1000;

To Increase Number width:
set numwidth 30;

Some more useful commands -

SET NUMWIDTH value - default width for Number columns
SET LONG value - default width for LONG columns
SET LONGCHUNKSIZE value - default width for LONG columns
SET MAXDATA value - Max width for columns

I have been looking for a Best Desktop Stock Ticker which can give me Stock Information without any delay.. I tried serching everywhere, I found some widgets but non of them were good enough for me. Because many of the are just made for some perticular Stock Markets, many were just for few countries. I didn’t find any one which can be used to view all countries, and all stock markets stock.

Ofcourse we can use Google Finance and any other different sites to keep a watch on any Stock but again we have to open each website seperatly again and again.. and if we are seating in our office watching stock quotes on all those sites instead of doing our office work does not look good. Even if we are watching Stock Quotes in our offices we never let other people know that we are watching. After a so many search one of my friend helped me and he developed stock ticker called as Tiger's Desktop Stock Ticker.

I am using everyday and its is beautiful Stock ticker. I know it is a new one so there are still some enchancements need to do but overall I liked it very much. It is not because it is developed by my friend but it is really very good.. try using it.

Here you can see how it looks like.

This is main window – where you specify Company Name and Stock Symbol (symbols you have to take from There two sites).
If you are interested only in Indian Stocks then you can select first Option or even you can select second option as well for any INDIAN Stocks.

If you select First Option , then you will be able to view Stock Quote for only NSE (India) Exchange. Currently BSE Exchange from ICICI Direct is not Supported for now but may be in future it will support.

But don't worry about it, there is an alternate solution available to view BSE Exchange Stock Quote as well. Select 2nd Option (Google Finance) and specify the BSE Stock Symbol from Google Finance. You will be able to see BSE Stock Quotes as well.

As we know that on Google finance, we can find all kind of Stock information so this Tiger's Desktop Stock Ticker can be used by all from anywhere in the world.

You can click on those two Hyper Links below each radio button to find the Stock Symbols.

- If you have selected ICICI Direct Radio button then just search the Symbol on the site http://content.icicidirect.com/home.asp (or Click on the link below it).
Specify searched symbol @ Stock Symbol field and click on "Show Stock Quote" button.

- If Google Finance Radio button is selected, then again go to the site http://www.google.com/finance (or Click on the link below it).

Here for example if you are looking for NSE (National Stock Exchange, India) Stock Exchange Quote then you have to look for the Symbol having NSE: at the beginning.

So if you are looking for BHARTI AIRTEL LIMITED company Stock form NSE (India) Exchange then you have to specify "NSE:BHARTIARTL" @ Symbol field of the Stock Ticker.

Same things applies to other stock exchange quotes.

If you are looking for BSE (Bombay stock exchange, India) Stock Exchange quote for the same BHARTI AIRTEL LIMITED company then you have to specify "BOM:532454" @ Stock Symbol field.

If you are looking for Google's Stock Quote the it should be "NASDAQ:GOOG"

- Once you have specified correct Company Name & Symbol then Click On the "Show Stock Quote" button and you will see small window (as shown below) at the bottom right corner of your computer screen.

You can see in the snap shot on the left side. Three different Stock Quotes.

- First one is Bharti Airtel NSE price from ICICI Direct site.
- Second one is Same company, BSE (Bombay Stock Exchange) Stock Quote is displaying from Google finance site.
- Third one is Google Inc. Stock quote from Google finance site.

Company name is coming on top of each with ICICI/Google which indicates that Name having (ICICI) is taking Stock Quote from ICICI site and Name having (Google) is taking quote from Google finance site.

We can select Google finance / ICICI Direct to see the Stock Quotes.. and you will get real time Quotes without any delay.

I like few features in it:

- Move Stock Quote Window (Image-2) Up and Down
- We can Increase/decrease Transparency (this is my favorite feature- because this helps us to hide the Stock Quotes from others.. this is very useful when you are trading seating in office)

Now for stock quote from ICICI having two more values on right side of Latest Stock Price. First one is Day High Price and Day Low Price below it.

Quotes from Google finance site -Right hand side of the Latest Stock Price there are again two values. First one is Today's Increased/Decreased values compare with last day close price and below it the same info in percentage.

Now you must be wondering looking at the above Image-2 that how the transparency is different for each small windows & how I managed to arrange each window like above.. !! There is a solution available for this. Please refer below table.

Key Shortcuts:
← (Left Arrow): To Decrease Transparency
→ (Right Arrow): To Increase Transparency
↑ (UP Arrow): To Move Window above
↓ (Down Arrow): To Move Window below
m ('m' Key): To Minimize Window
Esc : To Close Window

You will see some of the features mentioned below in next version of the ticker.

- We will be able to move Stock Quote Window Left and Right Side
- History will be provided so once you will see any stock, its stock symbol will be stored in the History and we can be easily select it from it.
- Clear History

One thing I forgot to tell you is that, this Stock Ticker is not working on XP but works fine with Vista/Windows7. Soon he will be correcting this Ticker for XP and Lower version of Operating Systems also.

Many time when we use Windows Media Player to viewing Movie/Video Files, it is possible that in your machine you don't have that perticular codec which support that Video format. It happened to me today morning. I was trying to play .AVI Video file and I saw that I was not seeing any Image in the player.

I have gone through many Forums for VBScript / Macro and I found that many people are looking for a solution which can help them to increase the "Comment Size" in Microsoft Excel using VBScript Or Macro.

I was also not knowing about this solution but today I wad just exploring those Functions for Comments and I got the Solution for it.

Initially I was thinking like we cannot increase but when I have look at the value in the Debug View, I found Height and Width Both so I did some more R&D and I found it finally.

Guys, finally I could able to develop my own Stock Ticker of my choice.. I have been looking for a good windows base stock Ticker for a long time but I didn't find any so I had decided to develop my own one.

Today I did finally and it is working without any problem. It can be use for any Market Stock Watch. For now you can see in the below image, I have added some stocks from India Stock Exchange Called NSE.

You can also add stocks from other market. It is highly customizable. In just few seconds I can change its setting like which market you want to use for stock watch. My requirement is now to keep a eye on India Market so for now I have removed that setting and using it to watch India NSE/BSE stock Exchange Stocks.

Here Is the Screen Shot of The Main Window..
On this window you have to Specify Company Name and its Stock Code from ICICI Direct Site. Click on "Add Stock In Watch List" so your stock will be added in the list above. Now Click on "Show Stocks Quote" Button to see the current market price of those stocks.

As Mentioned, This version is only support "NSE/BSE" Exchange or those all which are supported by "ICICI Direct".

After You click on "Show Stocks Quote" Button, the another Window will comeup - as shown below.
Using it you can add some more stock again if you want using that button, you can move it anywhere on your desktop and also resize it as per your requirement. It will be always on the TOP of all your windows..

Chrome OS : the operating system of Google

After Chrome, Google have announced that they will release an operating system called Chrome Operating System.

An open source operating system (they will open-source its code at the end of this year) which is a new project, separate from Android because Chrome OS is based on Linux kernel. According to Sundar Pichai, VP Product Management and Linus Upson, Engineering Director, speed, simplicity and security are the key aspects of Google Chrome OS.

Turned 100% towards web, the idea is to have an operating system which will start up in a few seconds and will instantaneously connect with Internet in order to access web applications without users have to deal with viruses, malware and security updates.

Scheduled for the second half of 2010, this operating system will initially be targeted at netbooks, it will run on both x86 as well as ARM chips.

You have certainly understood, this OS won't probably be designed to use software such as Photoshop, Gimp... or to play with your favorite video game.

Fortunately, there are many online tools (free or not) like Photoshop Express, the online software suite Aviary, Sumopaint...

How do I uninstall or remove Internet Explorer 8 for Windows Vista or for Windows Server 2008?

Well today I was trying to uninstall my IE 8 as it was giving some problem while running the QTP script. It was crashing everytime..

I lad looked at the Installed Programs and I didn't find anything there for IE8.. as we all know for every install program we will find the entry @ Install/Unistall Programs..

1st Method:
The simple steps that we have to follow for uninstalling IE 8 -

1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. Click Uninstall a Program under the Programs category
3. In the Tasks pane, click View installed updates.
4. In the list of installed updates, double-click Windows Internet Explorer 8.
5. In the Uninstall an update dialog box, click Yes.

Now if you will not find "Windows Internet Explorer 8" entry in install updates list - there is one more method what we have to follow.. I was know knowing it but now I know both the methods!! :) so I am helping you all..

2nd Method:
Copy the below line and Run it in the Command Prompt as Administrator.

FORFILES /P %WINDIR%\servicing\Packages /M Microsoft-Windows-InternetExplorer-8*.mum /c "cmd /c echo Uninstalling package @fname && start /w pkgmgr /up:@fname /norestart"

When the uninstall program is finished, restart your computer.
