Olympus have announced another addition to their “Tough” range named the TG-810, the tough range as the name suggests are a more sturdier compact camera aimed at the more adventures user (or perhaps the more accident prone). The cameras specifications are moderate with a 5x optical zoom and a 14 Mega Pixel sensor resolution but these are not the stand features of this “Tough” camera.

What sets this waterproof camera apart from others in the market is as the name suggests its toughness, it is water proof up to 10 meters and also drop proof to 2 meters. If that isn’t enough toughness for you it is also freeze proof up to -10 degrees and crush proof up to 100kg, so if you ever find yourself in a tricky situation at least your camera has a good chance of surviving even if you don’t !

Other great features of this Olympus camera is its GPS capability allowing the user to log where photos were taken, there is also the ability to take shots in 3D thanks to its single-lens method which layers images to produce the three dimensional photos. It also features HD video recording at 720p so this camera really is packed with functionality.

The Olympus TG-810 is rumored to hit the digital camera market at about £269 and should hit stores by the end of April, stay tuned for an indepth review.

Feburary looks as though its going to be another busy month in the digital camera market as Sony announces another batch of new releases. This time we see the release of two new super zoom compacts the HX100V and the HX9V. As competition really hots up its know surprise that these models both feature HD video recording along with Sonys 3D sweep panorama image capture. As well as this they feature GPS and compass facilities, as advances in GPS technologies move forward we expect many new cameras to feature such technology although Sony are leading the market at present.

The GPS and Compass features allows users to view where pictures were taken and the cameras shooting directions online using either a mac or a pc.

The main stand out differences between the models can be found when looking at their zoom capabilities, the HX100V features a Vario-Sonnar Carl Zeiss 30x optical zoom, while the HX9V features a 16x optical zoom G lens. As the HX9V zoom is smaller the camera is also slightly smaller, making it a cheaper but more portable option. Fortunately both cameras benefit from image stabilization provided by ‘SteadyShot image stabilization’, which in previous cameras has performed very well so we can only expect the same.

To find out more about these Sony Compact Cameras or a wide range of other compacts visit out parent site here.

The long awaited Panasonic FX77 has finally been launched featuring a ultra slim body and a wide range of great features, such as a massive 3.5 inch LCD Touch Screen and a excellent 24mm wide angle lens.

A direct follow on from the Panasonic FX70 compact camera which featured a similar specification to this new release. A major improvement to the previous model is a 12.1 mega pixel high speed CCD Sensor, along with full HD video recording. Other benefits include a 5x Optical Zoom and a image stabilizer that seems to be lacking in many compact cameras on the market today.

As we have come to expect with Panasonic Lumix cameras this model is both sleek and slim but with substantial functionality, stay tuned for a full review !
