If you are wondering what System Care Antivirus is, you should not be surprised to find out that it is a fake antivirus program. This application may look like the real deal, but the sad reality is that System Care Antivirus is a so-called rogue antispyware that infects computer systems around the world with intension to steal money from unsuspecting computer users. Thus, it is a must to remove System Care Antivirus from the compromised computer as soon as possible, otherwise the fake AV will paralyze the system, claiming that the only way out is to purchase its license.

Where does System Care Antivirus come from? Judging from its washed-out pink interface and the entire series of infection symptoms, it is obvious that System Care Antivirus is a part of WinWebSec group. Thus, it is a direct clone of Live Security Platinum, Disk Antivirus Professional, AVAsoft Antivirus Professional and other similar infections that have stolen thousands of dollars worldwide. Keeping in mind its terrible background, you should know that System Care Antivirus is not a program you can trust from the very beginning.

How does System Care Antivirus steal my money? – you may ask. That is also very simple: you give it away yourself. Once the infection takes place, System Care Antivirus runs a full system scan, and “detects” a number of computer infections, such as Dialer.Trafficjam.a, Win32.Delbot.Al, Trojan-Dropper.Win32.Agent.bot and others. To make it seem as though these malicious applications are REALLY in your system, System Care Antivirus generates a number of malware infection symptoms – it slows down your computer, denies access to Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox browsers, blocks your executable programs and so. To back up these symptoms, System Care Antivirus also displays an array of fake system security notifications:

System Care Antivirus Warning
Your PC is still infected with dangerous viruses. Activate antivirus protection to prevent data loss and avoid the theft of your credit card details.

System Care Antivirus Warning
Intercepting programs that may compromise your privacy and harm your system have been detected on your PC.
Click here to remove them immediately with System Care Antivirus

When you are convinced that you can remove these infections only with System Care Antivirus and you click to activate “protection”, you are redirected to the rogue’s purchase page, where you need to pay 89.95 USD for a 12 month subscription. During the purchase, you reveal your credit card number and your other personal information to a third party. Having acquired that information, the criminals behind System Care Antivirus can perform a number of illegal financial operations, and little by little steal your money. Considering that this fake AV comes with an interface that can be displayed not only in English, but also in German, French, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish, one can presume that cyber criminals target a very wide audience with this threat.

The bottom line is that, you cannot allow System Care Antivirus to rob you! You need to remove System Care Antivirus from your system right now. If you are going for manual removal, the rogue has only three files, one randomly named process and one registry entry. The files and the registry entry also have random titles (long strings of letters and numbers). The files are located at a randomly named folder at %CommonAppData% directory and they have to be deleted right away. The random registry that belongs to System Care Antivirus can be found at this path: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce.

Unfortunately, it may not be as easy to delete these files and registry entries as it would seem, because System Care Antivirus would not allow you to access them – this way the fake AV protects itself from being removed. In order to bypass the safeguard, you need to do the following:

Open Internet Explorer and press “Ignore warnings and visit that site in the current state (not recommended)” option.

Access http://www.411-spyware.com/spyhunter and download SpyHunter.

Install the program and run a full system scan.

SpyHunter will kill all the malicious files running in memory.

Wait for the scan to finish and then you will see the exact names and locations of the System Care Antivirus files.

Afterwards it is up to you whether you want to remove System Care Antivirus manually or automatically. Be aware that manual removal may require extensive computer knowledge, while with automatic malware removal tool you would also be able to safeguard your PC against similar infections. Do what is best for you and your system.

If you have never heard of rogue anti-virus programs, you should be aware of AVASoft Antivirus Professional as this program is the latest computer hackers’ product which I came across a little while ago. The threat is also referred to as AVASoft Professional Antivirus because its interface bears two different names of the program. The unwanted application is associated with Rogue:WinWebSec malware which is known for having spread such fake anti-virus tools as Disk Antivirus Professional, System Progressive Protection, Live Security Platinum and some more.

Once the infection gets to the computer, it is installed in the %Application Data% folder on Windows XP, whereas on Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Windows 8, the location of the file is the %ProgramData% folder. Like any computer application or malicious computer infection, AVAST Antivirus Professional creates new contents in the Registry so that you cannot access the Internet and use executable files. This is done to a make use think that your computer is full of threats which have to be removed using the registered version of the program.

As the rogue application imitates legitimate computer security applications, it is impossible not to notice its fake warnings or alerts:

AVASoft Antivirus Professional Warning
Your PC is still infected with dangerous viruses. Activate antivirus protection to prevent data loss and avoid the theft of your credit card details.

AVASoft Antivirus Professional Warning
Intercepting programs that may compromise your privacy and harm your system have been detected on your PC.
Click here to remove them immediately with AVASoft Antivirus Professional.

When I was asked to check what is wrong with a computer which has AVASoft Antivirus Professional installed, I was not able to launch executable files. The only tool which I could open was Internet Explorer; unfortunately, what I found was a message:

Warning! The site you are trying to visit may harm your computer!
Your security level puts your computer at risk!
Activate AVASoft Professional Antivirus, and enable safe web surfing (recommended).
Ignore warnings and visit that some in the current state (not recommended).

It is important to ignore every warning displayed by the fake AV, as its ultimate goal is to get your money and collect your personal information. By paying for the full version of AVASoft Antivirus Professional you lose your money and your identifiable information such as credit card details, home address and so on. Instead of exposing your sensitive information and paying cybercriminals from 59.95 to 89.95 U.S. dollars, you should remove AVASoft Antivirus Professional as soon as you can. The Trojan which spreads the application may download other computer threats such as Worm:Win32/Swimnag and Worm:Win32/Koobface.

Those of you who are familiar with manual malware removal procedure probably know that malicious files, processes and registry entries have to be terminated. As to the malicious files, every instance of the infection is unique, which means that a set of files created on your computer will differ from the files created on mine. For example, AVASoft Antivirus Professional created files in such directories:

%Desktopdir%

%Programs%\AVASoft Antivirus Professional

%AppData%\[Random file name]

“Random file name” means that in the %AppData% folder you will find a 32-character .exe file. The name of the file varies, which means that if on your PC you have a file 12D873C4A70F481B000012D760EF4C20.exe, the file in the same location on my PC will be completely distinct.

Another step which has to be taken to remove AVASoft Antivirus Professional from the PC is the termination of the process which is created by the infection. It is also named randomly and if, for example, you have deleted the file 12D873C4A70F481B000012D760EF4C20.exe, then it is necessary to end the processes bearing the same name.

Finally, the last part which I do not like is the deletion of malicious registry entries which are also named randomly. In order to open Registry Editor, click on Start and launch Run, then type regedit and press OK. Follow the paths given and remove the randomly created keys:

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\AVASoft Antivirus Professional\UninstallString “%AppData%\[Random]\[Random file name].exe” -u
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\AVASoft Antivirus Professional\ShortcutPath “%AppData%\[Random]\[Random file name].exe” -u
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\AVASoft Antivirus Professional\DisplayName AVASoft Antivirus Professional
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\AVASoft Antivirus Professional\DisplayIcon %AppData%\[Random name]\[Random file name].exe,0
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\AVASoft Antivirus Professional
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce\ %AppData%\[Random name]\[Random file name].exe

Even though I managed to remove the unwanted file, I advise you against manual removal for the one reason – if you are an inexperienced computer user, do not try to remove the infection so as not to corrupt the Registry. I recommend that you apply a reliable spyware removal tool which will remove the infection and safeguard the PC against computer infection. Just keep in mind that before installing an anti-spyware tool it is important to check whether the application is legitimate.

New threats from old enemies are something that no one welcomes, but at least we know what to expect and how to fight it. Disk Antivirus Professional is definitely the newest fake antivirus program out there, but it is a direct clone of System Progressive Protection and Live Security Platinum, so it possesses all features that are common to Rogue.WinWebSec family of rogues. The relation is obvious at once, especially since Disk Antivirus Professional and System Progressive Protection share the same interface.

The sooner user removes Disk Antivirus Professional from the computer the better, but sometimes users fall victims for this fraud without even realizing it. It is important to tell Disk Antivirus Professional apart from real antivirus program. Naturally, since its poses as a computer security program it has all the features applicable that one would normally find on a genuine antivirus program. For example, Disk Antivirus Professional supports six languages (English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese) and the language can be changed according to the user’s preferences. Yet that is no reason to believe in everything Disk Antivirus Professional says.

The rogue’s behavior is suspicious enough from the very beginning – it initiates a fake system scan without any confirmation from the user. But that is only the façade; as there are a lot of things Disk Antivirus Professional behind the user’s back. Disk Antivirus Professional can easily terminate various executable programs and system processes, including such important processes csrss.exe and lsass.exe. It also blocks Task Manager and configures the Registry in a way that makes Disk Antivirus Professional start automatically each time you turn on your computer. The rogue’s files are saved at ProgramData directory in a randomly named folder. The files themselves also have randomly generated names.

What is more, the rogue does everything to remain in the compromised system for as long as possible and in order to achieve that the fake AV disables services that are responsible for system’s security (Windows Security Center, Windows Update etc.). This way it lowers down the system security and it makes it easier for other infections to enter the target computer as well.

There is a way to tame Disk Antivirus Professional and it is possible to achieve by registering the rogue. Users can use the activation key below to do it:

AA39754E-715219CE

Simply click the registration icon and enter the code together with a random email address. Although registration does not terminate Disk Antivirus Professional, for a time being it cancels such infection symptoms as inability to load certain websites and fake security notifications presented below:

Disk Antivirus Professional Warning
Intercepting programs that may compromise your privacy and harm your system have been detected on your PC.
Click here to remove them immediately with Disk Antivirus Professional.

Disk Antivirus Professional Warning
Your PC is still infected with dangerous viruses. Activate antivirus protection to prevent data loss and avoid the theft of your credit card details.

Warning: Your computer is infected
Detected spyware infection!
Click this message to install the last update of security software…

Spyware.IEMonster activity detected. This is spyware that attempts to steal passwords from Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Outlook and other programs.
Click here to remove it immediately with Disk Antivirus.

Take note of the last message above. Spyware.IEMonster is a real computer threat, but it is not present in your system. Curiously enough, the same message has been displayed by most of the WinWebSec rogues, using Spyware.IEMonster as a scapegoat, in order to trick users into spending their money for nothing.

However, since none of the notifications above are real, there is no need to follow them (as in, pay money for Disk Antivirus Professional). Users must remove Disk Antivirus Professional as soon as possible to avoid system crash and money loss. Security experts suggest acquiring a legitimate antimalware tool for the removal, because manual removal might prove to be too difficult for an average computer user. Even if you do not register Disk Antivirus Professional, you can still proceed with the automatic removal. To do that, follow the instructions below:

Open your Internet browser.

Disk Antivirus Professional will display the following message:

Warning! The site you are trying visit may harm your computer!
Your security setting level puts your computer at risk!
Activate Disk Antivirus Professional, and enable safe web surfing (recommended).
Ignore warnings and visit that site in the current state (not recommended).

Click “Ignore warnings and visit that site in the current state (not recommended)“.

Access a computer security website.

Download legitimate computer safeguard tool.

Install the tool downloaded.

Run the program and perform a full system scan to terminate Disk Antivirus Professional.

Do not hesitate to invest in a legitimate antimalware tool if you need to protect your system from such rogues as Disk Antivirus Professional.

I have talked about Cyber Crooks back in August, and it is obvious that this ransomware infection left thousands of users speechless and penniless around the globe. It was one of the most prominent malware infections in 2012, and even though the users were strongly advised to remove FBI Moneypak virus from their computers as soon as possible, the criminals behind this infection still stole incredible sums of money. However, the worst is still to come – 2013 is here and FBI Moneypak is showing no signs of resigning as of yet.

One of the main secrets behind the success of FBI Moneypak virus is that it does not depend on credit cards. It uses such alternative payment systems as Ukash, PaySafecard or MoneyPak to collect the money from the infected users. Since it does not need credit card information to collect the money, even those users who do not have bank accounts can become targets of FBI Moneypak virus. According to various reports, approximately 300 people the ransom fee for this infection every single day. Considering that the general ransom fee is $100, the creators of FBI Moneypak definitely have a huge turnover.

This ransomware infection is delivered by Trojan Reveton. It infects users when they enter low-security websites. The users are especially susceptible to FBI Moneypak infection if they have outdated Flash or Java plugins installed on their browsers. The vulnerabilities of outdated plugins can be exploited by Trojan Reveton to infect the computer with FBI Moneypak virus. When the user is infected, he cannot access his desktop, because the access is blocked by a screen-sized message that says the user has breached various national laws on copyright and pornography distribution. In order to unlock the computer the user has to pay the fine, otherwise legal actions will be initiated against him.

These claims are definitely not real, as FBI Moneypak virus only wants to threaten users into paying the money. No matter how many ransom fees users pay, their computers remain locked. That is to be expected of such malicious scam as FBI Moneypak. However, there are a lot of computer security website that offer instructions on the malware removal and it is not hard to remove FBI Moneypak virus manually as well.

If you are not sure of your computing skills, you might seriously damage your system by deleting important system files at system32 directory that are vital for stable operating of the Windows.

FBI Moneypak Virus Removal

You have to enter the Safe Mode with Networking on your computer to terminate the malware manually. The following list presents file directories you should search for FBI Moneypak files. The malware files are named randomly, so you should sort the files by Date Modified (Descending) and any file with random name (for example USYHEY347H373.exe) should be deleted. If you are not sure whether you should delete the file, right-click it and click the Details tab for its digital signature. Malicious files usually do not have any information present, or it is very generic. Do take note that it might be dangerous to proceed with manual removal, because it is possible to remove important system files. Thus, remove FBI Moneypak manually, only if you are 100% sure of you are doing. If not, reserve to using a professional computer security application. However, if you are certain you want to proceed with the manual removal; the list of the directories is presented below:

%AppData%
%Windows%\system32
%Documents and Settings%\[UserName]\Application Data
%Documents and Settings%\[UserName]\Desktop
%Documents and Settings%\All Users\Application Data
%CommonStartMenu%\Programs
%Temp%
%StartupFolder%

Once the files are removed, you need to the delete or edit the following registry entries. Do take note that indicates a registry entry that could have a name of random sequence of letters and numbers. Also, [date of installation] refers to the date you have got infected with FBI Moneypak. Do not panic if you cannot find all the values presented in the list, because not all of them might be created by the ransomware infection.

Registry values:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run\.exe
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\FBI Moneypak Virus
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System ‘DisableRegistryTools’ = 0

Sometimes even legitimate software products that are supposed to improve your everyday browsing experience can cause a lot of trouble. This can be attributed to Babylon Toolbar, considering the fact that a lot of users express the wish to get rid of it while the reality is that Babylon Toolbar is a browser plug-in that comes from a legitimate source. However, if a user wants to remove Babylon Toolbar, then there has got to be a reason behind, hasn’t it?

To overview the history of Babylon Toolbar, the first version of Babylon, that is an online dictionary, was launched back in 1997 by Babylon Ltd. By the year 2000 the product had over 4 million users and it experienced a steady growth. Babylon Toolbar has been and is offered for free. This tool allows the user to instantly translate a text online from and into 75 languages. Now you might wonder why Babylon would be so willing for you to download and install a toolbar for free. The reason is that the company generates the revenue through online search engines and pay-per-click advertising services.

With everything looking so nice, why is Internet full of users’ complaints regarding Babylon Toolbar? That can be attributed to the intrusive nature of the Toolbar. Microsoft Antivirus products identified Babylon as software that exhibits intrusive behavior back in 2010. What is more, this year Babylon Search Toolbar itself was identified as a browser hijacker due to the fact that it is very easy to install accidentally, but getting rid of the toolbar might be harder than you think.

Users often claim that they have not installed Babylon Search Toolbar themselves or they have no idea how it appeared on their browser. The thing is that you really install Babylon Toolbar on your computer yourself most of the time. It happens when you do not take notice what is written on the installation wizard. Since Babylon is a legitimate software, it gives you an option whether you to install the toolbar or not.

Things turn for worse when you want to remove Babylon Toolbar from your computer. Generally, the usual uninstall via Control Panel should work just fine, yet sometimes (especially when the toolbar comes bundled with other freeware), it might resists being removed. If you are not a computer expert it can be very frustrating. In such cases users are encourage to download and install a computer security tool that is able to detect Babylon Toolbar as a potentially unwanted program, and remove it automatically.

Automatic malware removal tool is always a good idea, because Babylon Toolbar commonly exposes you to pop-up advertisements that might be responsible for other dangerous files arriving at your system. Hence, do not hesitate to safeguard your computer against various threats, when you remove Babylon Toolbar for good. If you want to remove Babylon Toolbar manually, follow the instructions below.

Do you see a pop-up notification on your screen that says Personal Protector 2013 has detected a virus on your computer? If so, then you are infected with rogue antispyware and you have to remove Personal Protector 2013 from your system at once. You might ask why you have to delete this program if it genuinely wants to warn you about computer threats. The truth is that Personal Protector 2013 is NOT a legitimate computer security tool. It is a rogue antispyware application and the only reason it has entered your computer is money.

Do you see that “Get full-time protection” button at the top right corner of Personal Protector 2013′s interface? You can also see the words “Trial version” above it. It gives an impression that you cannot explore all features and benefits of this program, because the version installed is not full. As such, Personal Protector 2013 claims that it cannot remove all the viruses detected in your system, because you need to acquire the license.

Aside from the fake scan that is common to all rogue antispyware programs, Personal Protector 2013 also “analyses” your Security settings and then claims that your Antiviral protection module is off, as well as Antispyware module, Internet security module and Automatic software update. If users infected cannot tell the difference between Personal Protector 2013 and a real antivirus program, they are bound to panic and do everything this rogue wants them to do.

However, keep in mind that you should NEVER spend a single cent on Personal Protector 2013. Rogues make use of credit card system to receive their payments and if you enter your credit card information into Personal Protector 2013′s purchase form, this data will be leaked to a third party, and your bank account will be hacked by cyber criminals. This is the main reason you cannot trust Personal Protector 2013.

Erase Personal Protector 2013 today and save yourself the trouble of seeing this annoying interface pop up into your screen every single day. If you are not a computer expert and do not dare to remove the rogue manually, acquire a powerful antimalware tool that will erase Personal Protector 2013 for you automatically. Investing in a computer security tool is always a good idea, because you can never know when another infection might barge into your system again. However, next time you will be ready.
