A couple of scans I made from the same painting. I’m thinking about making prints of the color one, but the black & white one was just an experiment in making some fun textures. I’ll give away the paper texture for free. Feel free to use it for anything you want, I just ask that you send me a pic of the result.

Here’s a quick scan of a couple of sketches I made last night while doodling in my moleskine.

I recently finished these 2 paintings to go into a show at Watch City Brewery last weekend. As part of my “get off your ass & promote your art” push, I set up a shop at DeckPeck, where anyone can go & buy skateboards with these graphics on them. There’s lots more to come on the Deckpeck site, as well as on Sintaxera’s shop, so keep checking back to see what’s new in the shops. Clothing & prints will be getting there soon, but for right now, it’s original artwork (which is way better, right?)

Here’s a pic of a painting I finished up yesterday. It’s part of a series I started where I carry a small piece of watercolor paper around with me and add to it little by little. It’s quite nice to have a painting in my pocket to work on when I get the urge to draw. I’ve always got a sketchbook with me, but it’s a little nicer to have an actual piece with me. I’m definitely going to keep this experiment going for a while and see what kinds of things happen.

I usually keep these little tester pages next to whatever I’m painting on to get excess ink/paint off brushes, test colors, etc. However, one thing that I’ve noticed is that some really fun things tend to happen on these throw away sheets of paper. I’ve started keeping some of my favorite ones, as they remind me to really keep my work loose, fluid and to enjoy the happy accidents that occur. I’ve also started not using scrap paper as much for them, and testing right on the painting itself.

Soo…. I was going to paint tonight, but I got a GoogleWave invite, so I doubt anything will get in the way of my internerdery tonight. Sorry paints, I’ll make up for it tomorrow.

I’ve been painting like a madman lately, here are a few pics of some works in progress. The first one is very close to being done, I love these cluster blobs. They’re tons of fun to paint. if you look at my previous post, you can see where this one evolved from.

You may have noticed that I’ve been slacking with my 365 sketches project. I could give any number of excuses as to why I haven’t been keeping up, but the most honest answer is that I’m just too damn busy. With 2 little kids at home & a full time job, there is little room for anything else, 2 hours or so after all is said & done if I’m lucky. I’ve got a ton of projects on my plate, and as it is now, I stay up until I literally fall asleep at the desk/easel and others I pass out 15 minutes after I get the kids to bed. This is just fine with me because I’ve been getting lots of things done (just not updating the blog… but that’s going to change) and there is nothing on this planet that is better than spending time with my family. They are far and away the greatest things that have ever happened to me, and there is no greater reward for a hard days work than coming home and being with people that I love.

OK, so why am I so concerned about not keeping up with the 365 sketches? Mostly because I havent been as prolific as I’d like to be or as I have been in the past. What’s happened because of that though, is that I spend more time thinking about what I want to do.  This isn’t always related to the painting though, I’m also a graphic designer and I have equal love for design as I do painting, so my thoughts and plans drift from one area to another. Ive been spending alot of time recently trying to figure out how to stay productive in both areas. I haven’t quite figured it out yet, and it’ll probably be some time before all of the pieces fall into place, but I’ve definitely begun my journey to where I want to be.

One thing I’ve really been working alot on lately has been that I’m going to be part of a group show at the end of October at Watch City Brewery in Waltham MA, and It’s really kicked me into overdrive. So in lieu of the 365 sketches, I’m just going to update you as to whats new, which I guess is the point of a having a blog in the first place, eh? So here’s a little update (taken with my bad camera phone last night) to give a little glimpse into whats been going on. I really should color correct them, they’re quite yellow, but they’re far from finished and you’ll see them progress so I didn’t think any severe color correction was warranted just yet.
