Basically SSL stands for Secure Socket Layer, and if you have been around for long enough, you would know that the first advent of this technology was actually perpetuated by this little known browser called Netscape. Well, Netscape is not around anymore, but their technology has definitely stared and has evolved to something that has overcome the commercial aspect of online transaction all over the internet.

When you buy something on the internet, you would have seen some sort of SSL tag on the payment page, which means that the website has a certificate that would give you the piece of mind that your credit card details and your personal information is safe and secure. Now, plenty of websites that deal with buying and selling have this certificate as standard and it has been recognised as one of the premier ways of securing online transactions. How it works is that there is a Certificate Authority that is a third party protocol, which works sort of like a merchant on both ends of the transaction. What happens is that the information is identified on both ends and decrypted, passing through secure channels of the credit card merchant and the website selling the goods in the first place.

The system works in this way, firstly when the transaction goes through, the website that sends the information will request for a secure page to continue the transaction. It will then send the public key with the SSL certificate, where the browser will then check for its authenticity and the source against a list of key trusted certificate holders. On both ends of the transaction, there is random encryption of the data sent, which is layers of security that helps to protect alot of potentially sensitive data. A bit of literature on the encryption is that it uses a key system, pairing together a public and private key to ensure that the data can be randomised and encrypted by one set of keys and reversed only by the other set. This is sort of like how one lock can open a door and only another lock can lock it.

The system may seem cumbersome but in the realm of the internet and transactions online, this is very necessary and it works. This way, the server and the merchant bank (VISA< MASTERCARD, AMEX etc) can then trace where the problem (if there is one) or where the leak in security occurs. The certificate is the second layer of security, which allows you to know exactly who you are dealing with and that the person you are sending the money to is the person that you are dealing with. A certificate can only be issued in a transaction if its signed, which will then allow the data to be sent to the correct people. This is the nature of the SSL Certificate and this system of security keys and layers is why you must always trust websites that have this certificate when giving up data like credit card numbers.

There are plenty of benefits when talking about a dedicated server, and the very fact that the word dedicated is there means that it is specially there for you and the purposes of which you adopted this service. Hosting your web site or your digital platform on a server that is dedicated can be quite expensive, but when comparing the benefits to the shortfalls, the hike in price seems worth it, especially when you are dealing with a business or a commercial solution. The thing is, the alternative is of course shared web hosting, and while it is really popular right now, is not the sort of online solution you should be looking at if you are looking for efficient service.

This is because, no matter how well organised a shared web hosting service is, it cannot be 100% reliable and efficient. This is due to the simple reason that the resources on the web host will be shared and distributed among hundreds of websites and this would create inefficiencies within the matrix. The common problems that are faced by someone using shared webhosting solution is overloading, when they cannot seem to access their website at all and there are plenty of error messages all over their dashboard. This means that the pipeline is clogged, due to heavy activity, or one website using a function that is choking up the shared bandwidth.

There is also a problem with bad code and bad scripts, which is due to the fact that some of the executions and programmes that are used to support the structure of the web host cannot support so many websites, and because of this problems might occur. They are also targets for viruses and malware, because of the problem of management again. Because there is plenty of uploading of programmes by end users, viruses and malware might be able to slip through and because you share the pipeline, they will trickle down to your website as well. As you can see, the benefits of a dedicated server are starting to come to a head, and one of them is of course the efficiency and the speed that you will get because you are not sharing any of the bandwidth. With this, you are able to get the speed that you are paying for and have a website that is reliable.

This is especially important in business because of the fact that customers online are really impatient and they will not wait for a website that is not functioning. Also, because they are giving information like personal contact and credit card numbers for transactions, they want a website that is secure and reliable and that is something you wont get with shared web hosting. You also only install the applications and the programmes that you need, so your server will not be overloaded at all. As you can see, there are plenty of benefits of using a dedicated server and the cost is more than worth it.

For those not in the know, this article will first explain what Cpanel is exactly and how it applies to you in the wonderful world of web hosting. What it is actually is a web hosting panel that controls the applications within the website itself, and the programme is actually based on Linux code with a graphical interface. It is alot like Dreamweaver in a sense of the control issues and the layout, but the functions are pretty different. There is no code for you to wrap your head around, all you need to do to work with cPanel is the use of mouse gestures and normal point n click routines. What this does is give the end user, or administrator, the simple tools needed to host a web site as well as build it by installing applications onto its structure.

What is does is it utilises something called a tier 3 structure, which allows everyone from admins, resellers, and even the user of the website to have some sort of control over the web host, but of course this is limited to the type of identity you have. An administrator would of course have function over all of cPanel and the website itself, while the end user might be able to do some limited things with it. You can access the panel through a web browser and by logging on to a web address.

The great thing about the cPanel is that apart from its graphical interface, it also has a command line and API function, which in geek speak, allows third party vendors and anyone with any knowledge of its code to add in automated functions and even their own processes - as long as they have permission from the admin. It has always been designed from the get go to be a standalone and dedicated server, also a virtual serve r and can support a multitude of operating systems. Another great thing about the cPanel is that it comes with a on board Web Hosting Manager, which allows anyone to access the web host and make changes easily. Many people are using this cPanel to interface with their web hosting business and the popularity is growing.

This is mainly down to the fact that it has a GUI or graphical interface, which means that you do not need to have a degree in rocket science just to be able to use it. When it first came out, it was quite buggy and had many compatibility issues, but the evolution of the product saw it becoming one of the most popular products out there. You will find it offered on plenty of web hosting solutions all over the internet and would come stock standard within the package offered to you. Another great thing about this technology is the automatic upgrade function, which allows your product to be upgraded everytime there is a release. You do not need to do anything, it downloads the updates on its own.

When starting a small business, one of the things that will give you the edge necessary and maximise your exposure and business presence of course is the internet. Getting online is one of the business common sense that must be applied to any strategy, and the strength of the digital platform as a business weapon is something that can really be quite amazing. When starting a small business, you cannot think of things like pricy offline rentals, office equipment and other sorts of start up fees when you have not tested your idea on the live market.

But however, you need to balance this with instilling trust in potential customers, and they will only do that once you have some sort of business presence. Getting online is one of the best ways to position yourself, and test out your ideas on the market without the risk. Budget web hosting is one of the ways for you to get out there and start doing working. There are plenty of budget web hosting options out there and they give you a smaller version of the normal large business options that most web hosts will give you. The cost would be a fraction, mostly a third of the total cost you would normally occur.

This idea makes sense because you need to save money at every turn, and just because the internet is known to be less expensive, does not mean that you cannot save money online as well. There are many budget web hosts out there and looking at the stats of their customers would reveal many small start up businesses, college students doing some enterprising work and platforms to sell commercial goods online. Their scripts are just as good when it comes to customising your website to be a commercial platform, and you have many options to choose from when talking about content management on your website and installing many commercial functions like the shopping cart and the online verification and payment.

You do not need to worry about security as well, as these budget hosts are build on the backbones of the same security infrastructure as normal web hosts. They do not skimp on their security because of the inherent dangers of malware, viruses and hackers who would try to crack into their database and steal all their email contacts. You also will get plenty of options for ghosting or masking your website, if you are into things like affiliate marketing online, or setting up a vendor website to sell third party products online. As you can see, budget web hosting is here to stay and it is a viable option for at home, virtual workers who want to expand their business portfolio and just for people who want to stamp a business presence online. The costs are cheaper and the functions relatively, the same. It makes sense to go budget in these tough times, and getting one should be as easy as clicking the mouse.

The fad now is the internet, and it is not unusual for anyone, personal or business, to want to get online and there are plenty of options for you if you have made that decision. The internet has become an emporium of choice for anyone wanting to register a unique domain name, make a calling card of their own when going online. Marking your presence online is easy, but getting yourself out there can be really hard and it is all down to the type of internet domain registration that you are aligning yourself with. A domain in essence is really your address on the internet, and it is the digital real estate that will be attached to whatever it is you are doing online.

When choosing a domain or a domain name, there are certain things you need to know and some street smart aspects you can keep in mind to make sure you make the right decision. One of the things you need to know is the type of domain company that you are signing up with and make sure you read everything you can about the contract that you are signing up with. One of the things that you need to make sure is that length of time that you are going to be tied down, as most companies would give a customisable option for you. It could be as little as 6 months and as long as 10 years, the package really depends on you.

Also, make sure that you are getting the best rates out there and check against the type of service that they are offering. A good way to do this is to check the natural feedback mechanism of the internet and start finding out what people think about the domain host, its speed, its technical support and other factors that are quite important in determining your overall decision. Some of the domain websites out there can be quite expensive, but they do not give you the speed or the type of services that justify the price. Last but not least, you also need to look at the customisable options of the name and how much digital exposure this domain host has.

This helps you to drive traffic to your website, and the fundamental of this is the type of web hosting script that is given to you. These are your basic web building tools that you need to build up your website, the tools you need to set up your content management and perhaps other commercial aspects of your website. These are some of the things you need to know about Internet domain registration and making the right decision really depends on many more factors. Like getting property offline, you will need to do plenty of research and perhaps even get an agent. There are roaming web hosting agents online that help you to get the best deals, tailored to your budget, but their necessity is still in question. With so many choices out there, making the right decision should not be a problem.

There are many kinds of web host scripting out there for you to choose from when you are building a commercial website and this is one of them. It belongs to the commercial script library group of online tools that helps to automate many of the functions that are associated with this function. One of them is the automation of many of the popular web applications to online websites.

Fantastico scripts are used by admins all over the internet and are a common placement in many of the digital control panels like the cPanel and the Automoton Control Panel. In actual fact, there are many people and web providers that are offering this script and type of web hosting and the growing popularity is something of a puzzle for many out there. This is because the typical usage of this script was minimised to local users and had limited functionalities.

This was not because of the failure of its design as a script, but because it was bespoke for such limited variables, and thus many knew this type of script belonging to a specialised library. When you create a new website on a server giving this type of web hosting, you will then be given this script as a base for you to add all your website functions and add on applications. It is actually associated with open source software and it was developed as a third party application quite a ways back, as an alternative to many of the paid web hosting solutions out there. What happened was that it began to grow in popularity and as an open source software, it could not support the type of traffic that was coming along with its new found popularity.

Within Fantastico web hosting, there are more than 50 types of applications that can be used to customise and develop a website, which can range from a content management online, shopping cart software, popular wikis can be attached to website, addition of blogs and photo taking and sharing capabilities. One of the critiques of the scripts is that it has been associated with spam. Also, to get your head around the script, there is actually plenty of technical issues that are associated with this script as well, and it has caused many people out there plenty of headaches when talking about developing their website. Also, there are quite a bit of security issues when talking about this script, and there are alot of debugging that is still going on.

If you need to more about this script, there is plenty of literature around on the internet, as well as critiques and supporters of the technology. There are many websites online that you can refer to that have this sort of scripting, and this includes sites like host monster, blue host, host papa, fast domain, lunar pages - among others. The prices associated with this sort of web hosting is quite affordable, with prices starting at a cheap $3.
