Sikh Women Do/Should Not Keep Karva Chauth Fast : Good Conduct and Contentment is The True Fast

Karva chauth is a festival celebrated by married Hindu women who observe a fast for the long life of her husband. Sadly, a significant number of Sikh women have started observing fast and have adopted the practice.

But Gurbani rejects such rituals. Sikhism is a practical religion. Superstition and dogmas have no place in it .Sikhs do not celebrate Karva Chauth because Sikh Gurus does not consider fasting to be meritorious.

Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, believed that fasting was inferior to "truth" or "right action". He also believed that the body is a gift from God, and that humans should maintain it in good condition. Fasting is only acceptable if it's done to promote healthy eating

Gurus do not consider fasting to be a way to purify the self or realize God. Guru Nanak, the founder of Sikhism, believed that "truth" or "right action" is superior to fasting, penance, or other austerities. Gurbani teaches "the way to Waheguru (God) is to conquer the mind which is polluted by the 5 passions. By fasting and tormenting one’s body Waheguru (God) is not attained." “One who discards this grain, is practicing hypocrisy. She is neither a happy soul-bride, nor a widow".

“To practice forgiveness; good conduct and contentment is the true fast.”. The only way to attain God is by singing HIS Name and following the true path shown in Sri Guru Granth Sahib.

Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) has condoled demise of five time Chief Minister of Punjab, Sardar Parkash Singh Badal, who breathed his last at Fortis Hospital Mohali on 26th April .

In a condolence message, DSGMC President Mr. Harmeet Singh Kalka and General Secretary Mr. Jagdip Singh Kahlon said that Sardar Parkash Singh Badal was not only epicentre of Sikh politics but was also a great politician of Indian politics. They said that though Sardar Parkash Singh Badal was a leader of Akali Dal but he always took along leader of every party along with him to carry on politics of the state and nation. They said that Sardar Parkash Singh Badal become Sarpanch and later rose to rank of Chief Minister for record five times. They said that his demise has created a void in Sikh politics which is difficult to fulfill.

नई दिल्ली (11 अप्रैल 2023) 1984 सिख कत्लेआम के आरोपी कांग्रेस नेता जगदीश टाइटलर के खिलाफ गवाही देने के लिए आज केंद्रीय जांच ब्यूरो ने दिल्ली सिख गुरुद्वारा प्रबंधक कमेटी के पूर्व अध्यक्ष मनजीत सिंह जीके को नोटिस भेजा था। क्योंकि जीके ने प्रेस कांफ्रेंस करके जगदीश टाइटलर के 5 फरवरी 2018 को 5 स्टिंग वीडियो जारी किए थे। जिसके बाद आज इन स्टिंग वीडियो की आवाज के साथ टाइटलर की आवाज का मिलान करने के लिए सीबीआई ने टाइटलर को बुलाया था। सीबीआई को लिखित गवाही रिकार्ड करवाने के बाद सीबीआई मुख्यालय से बाहर आए जीके ने मीडिया को बताया कि सीबीआई द्वारा डेढ़ घंटे तक मेरे से पूछे गए सवालों के मेरे द्वारा दिए गए जवाबों के बाद मुझे अब तसल्ली है कि जगदीश टाइटलर जेल जरुर जाएंगा। सीबीआई ने मुझसे पूछा कि इन स्टिंग वीडियो के बारे में आपको क्या जानकारी है ? जिस पर मैंने इन वीडियो में शामिल जरुरी तथ्यों के बारे में विस्तार से सीबीआई के एसएसपी साहब को बताया है।

जीके ने कहा कि अपनी वीडियो में टाइटलर ने 100 सिखों को मारने की बात कबूली थी। साथ ही हाईकोर्ट में कई जज लगवाने तथा अपने बेटे की कंपनी के स्विस बैंक के खातों में करोड़ों रुपए जमा होने का दावा किया था। जिस पर मैंने अपनी प्रेस कॉन्फ्रेंस के बाद दिल्ली पुलिस और सीबीआई को शिकायत दी थी। इसके साथ ही इस वीडियो में नजर आ रहे रविंद्र चौहान ने मुझसे संपर्क किया था और तब दिल्ली कमेटी दफ्तर में आकर रविंद्र चौहान ने मीडिया के सामने माना था कि इस वीडियो में वो खुद है, तथा यह सब बातें मेरे सामने टाइटलर ने कही थी। इसलिए यह सारे तथ्य मैंने सीबीआई के अधिकारियों के सामने रख दिए। इसलिए मुझे लगता है कि यह सारे तथ्य टाइटलर को सिखों का कातिल साबित करने के लिए काफी है। अब सीबीआई इस मामले में क्या कार्रवाई करती है, यह महत्वपूर्ण है।

Manjinder Singh Sirsa discloses that a eye witness has deposed in court against Tytler

New Delhi, April 11: BJP Sikh leader and Former Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Committee President Mr. Manjinder Singh Sirsa today said that Congress leader Jagdish Tytler will soon be behind bars for his role in 1984 Sikh genocide.

In a statement released here today Manjinder Singh Sirsa disclosed that when during UPA regime CBI had given clean chit to Tytler, he as General Secretary DSGMC had moved an application in court that we have more witnesses against Tytler in the case. He said that a few days ago a key eye witness deposed before the court and recorded statement u/s 164 disclosing that Jagdish Tytler had come to Pul Bangish during 1984 Sikh genocide and had incited violence against Sikhs telling mob to kill Sikhs.

He said that now CBI is working on the case and thus he had been summoned to give his voice samples in CFSL lab. He said that as we have more witnesses and evidence against him, we will ensure that he is sent to jail like Sajjan Kumar and other guilty.

Lashing out at Congress party, Sirsa said that during its rule at Centre it saved skin of its leaders who were part of mob which massacred thousands of Sikhs in Delhi and other parts of the country. He said that now NDA government led by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi was ensuring that all guilty are punished. He said that like Sajjan Kumar, Jagdish Tytler will also be sent to jail. He will get capital punishment or life term for his active role in Sikh genocide.

He said that instead of giving justice to Sikhs, Congress party had bestowed Tytler and other guilty with plum posts of party and government but now all these guilty have to face the music.
