The battle for first place between the Giants and the Cowboys on Sunday night at Cowboys Stadium was everything we imagined it would be — a high-octane shootout that came down to the final play. The result is a mediocre-looking first place tie between two 7-6 teams with the 5-8 Eagles somehow still not out of it. Sunday did see the official mathematical elimination of the Redskins, though they fought their tails off against one of the league’s best teams in an effort to avoid it. Yeah, we may not have the best division in the NFL this year. Heck, we may not even have one of the top seven. But it’s not without its heart-pounding thrills.

As we have been doing for some months now, we present the links in order of the standings, which has changed.

Giants vs Cowboys

If you want to know why Ahmad Bradshaw was benched for the first half of Sunday night’s game, you’re not going to find out from Bradshaw or Tom Coughlin. NBC reported during the game that the “team rules violation” for which Bradshaw was benched was curfew related, but Bradshaw and Coughlin stuck with “team rules violation” and would go no further. Didn’t matter much, as Brandon Jacobs ran like the Jacobs of old.

Dallas Cowboys (7-6)

The most significant development of the night for Dallas might not have been the loss of the game but rather the loss of rookie running back DeMarco Murray, who broke his ankle and appears to be out for the year. Felix Jones showed that he can do some things in the run game, but he’s shown in the past that he can’t hold up under a 20-carry-per-game workload. And with no other tailback currently on the roster, one wonders if the Cowboys will just have to throw a lot in their final three games.

It is a trying time for rookie kicker Dan Bailey, who’s been so brilliant all year but has been done in by the old icing-the-kicker timeout trick the past two weeks. This time, at least, it was the opposing coach who did it to him instead of his own. But Bailey said he felt like he was kicking the ball well all night and was definitely bummed about the block that cost his team a chance at overtime.

Philadelphia Eagles (5-8)

Michael Vick didn’t play his best game. But as Rich Hofmann writes, Vick has asserted himself as a leader and, by doing so and playing tough even though he’s not fully healthy, he’s got his teammates buying in. Even if they can’t run the table, get the right Giants- and Cowboys-related breaks and get into the playoffs, this final stretch has meaning for an Eagles team that needs to come back next year angry and intent on fixing the mess.

Darryl Tapp says his rib injury came on a dirty play by Dolphins offensive lineman Nate Garner, and that it was the kind of thing the Eagles expected from the Dolphins after watching film of them. I don’t know. Guys tend to say things when they’re in pain and angry about being hurt. Guess we’ll see if Garner gets fined.

Washington Redskins (4-9)

In spite of another tough loss, Thomas Boswell says the Redskins are liking what they’re seeing from rookie running back Roy Helu, and that a heavy dose of Helu the rest of the way is the best way for Washington to feel good about the rest of their season.

Dan Daly watched the game and found himself wondering, “Where has this been all season?” I guess I’d argue that the Redskins’ offense was clicking like this in September, when they were 3-1 and running the ball efficiently and all of that. But I guess I understand why that’s hard to remember now.

The New York Giants got a huge win over the Dallas Cowboys (Giants vs Cowboys) on Sunday night to wrest back control of the NFC East, and no one figured more prominently in the victory than Eli Manning. The Giants quarterback threw for 400 yards and two touchdowns, and led two drives late in the fourth quarter to bring New York back from a 12-point deficit on the road.

The Giants are rather pleased to have Manning under center, if their post-game quotes are any indication:

“We have a great quarterback,” running back Brandon Jacobs said. “If you ask me he’s the best in the business when our backs are against the wall and we need a score. He’s never let me down.

“I believe in him. I believe in our offense, I believe in our coaches and they got it done.”

Tom Coughlin also found Eli’s resilience after a nutty interception impressive.

“He was really upset over the interception, but he comes right back,” Coughlin said. “He comes right back and takes the field and away we go. He obviously made some great plays coming down the stretch.”
Manning has 14 passing touchdowns in the fourth quarter this season, tying an NFL record that his brother Peyton shares, and has also led six fourth quarter comebacks. The only season in which Eli has had three fourth quarter comebacks? 2007. And three of those comebacks in the Giants’ Super Bowl season came in the playoffs.

Brandon Jacobs scored on a 1-yard touchdown in the final minute and defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul blocked a field goal attempt on Dallas’s final play as the Giants held off the Cowboys, 37-34, on Sunday night.

With their season on the line, the Giants erased a 12-point deficit in the final 3 minutes 14 seconds as Eli Manning led two late scoring drives. Manning passed for 400 yards with 2 touchdowns, and Jacobs finished with 101 yards rushing and 2 scores. Tony Romo threw four touchdown passes for the Cowboys, but he overthrew an open receiver behind the defense with 2:20 remaining — a throw on which even a first down most likely would have sealed a victory.

Instead the Cowboys were forced to punt, and Manning coolly led the Giants 78 yards in just over a minute for a 37-34 lead. Manning had thrown an 8-yard touchdown pass to tight end Jake Ballard on the Giants’ previous possession to begin the comeback. The game featured eight lead changes.

The victory of Giants on Giatns vs Cowboys match, which ended a four-game losing streak, pushed the Giants (7-6) into a first-place tie with the Cowboys (7-6) atop the N.F.C. East. But more important, it left the Giants in control of their playoff hopes heading into three season-ending games at MetLife Stadium — against the Redskins, the Jets and the Cowboys. Winning all three will assure them the division title and a playoff spot.

I’ll try [...]]]> This post is a request from my friend, Mr Fary SJ Oroh or better know in some social circle as Kuti. Mas Kuti has been kind enough to ask me, which is beginner in writting world, to review his latest book, “55 Tips Terbaik Google+” or called in English as “55 best tips Google+”.

I’ll try to do a review on this latest book Mas Kuti, the “55 Best Tips Google +” as I could. Hopefully this review will be useful for anyone who is looking for the best way to optimize the latest features from Google, the Google+.

1. Outside look
I love the cover design of the book “55 Best Tips Google +”, which is a predominantly white and splash with colors typical of Google. Impressively clean and simple. It reminds me directly of the Google search page that is simple and straight-to-the-point.

But I can not say the same for the selection of the type of paper being used. I frankly would prefer the white paper. For me personally I prefer the white paper for books of technology, because other than in accordance with the color of its cover, I think it also would make a better contrast with the writings and drawings. This will assist the reader in understanding the technological content that are often associated with difficult matter to understand.

Of course many considerations has been used by Mas Kuti and its Publisher to use brown paper with the light weight properties for this book. It could be to save costs or other considerations.

Even so, I discovered later on that the color of this paper does not really affect the quality of characters contrast and images that exist on the books. I found that the letters are very clear and every images are legible so we can identify both with ease.

So I finally concluded, paper color selected for the book is only a minor aesthetic problem that does not bother me much : P

GooglePlus

For you who likes to blog, Mas Kuti in this book also includes tips on how to maximize the power of Google + for your blogging activities. Those tips such as how to put Google Plus Widget on your blog, add the +1 button on the blog, to share content and posting on Facebook and Twitter. It will be very useful for bloggers who concern their posting SEO.

Another tip that is shared by Mas Kuti also how to manage the Circle, Notifications, add Google Translate, post videos, to play games.

Overall, I found the tips in this book are clearly written, very easy to follow, and accompanied by drawings that guide how to do tips. Two thumbs up, Mas Kuti! d \ (^ ^) / b

3. Pinch of suggestions
Frankly until I read this book, I am not a Google + intensive users. I more often use the first popular Social Media, Facebook. I was already familiar with the features or terms used in Facebook. Maybe that’s why when I tried to digest the tips in this book, I often find it difficult to understand quickly because I often get stuck in a pattern to compare the features in Facebook with Google+ first. This pattern is like the same guy who was just learning a new language outside of his native tongue. For people who are just learning English, if he wants to say “I want to eat”, he would translate that sentence wor per word, and not directly by sentence itself.

So when I find the term “Stream” on Google+ for example, I will look first at the equivalent feature on Facebook. A futile effort and actually unfair because Google+ has its own strengths and uniqueness, of course. But silly me, because of the influence and charm Facebook already firmly entrenched, I am hard to change this pattern.

Maybe that is why I hope the book can given such a special part in early in the book to discuss the terms and features commonly used on the Google+, and (if applicable) its counterpart with Facebook. For me personally, this section will be very helpful for people (like me! ) who are new to Google+ : P

In addition, in certain tips which is required to access the intenet with long address, it will be better to use URLs shortening facility. For example on integrating Google+ with Facebook (Tip#4), where users need to install StartGooglePlus (SGPlus) on the Chrome browser or Mozilla Firefox. At the tip, we need to access the URL address “https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/hbgcgahdbgbdenffckohanhobdcnkoip#” (p. 7). It’s frankly a bit inconvenient for me. It also occurs in Tip #16 (add a Google search +) where we need to access the URL address “https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/lgokneckoagpobobdfmiaflifhpbmfmd#”. It would be better if the address could be shortened with the facilities of Bitly (https://bitly.com/) or any other URL shortener program.

Anyway, according to the news An intense search is underway at Virginia Tech for the gunman who shot and killed two people — a campus police officer and a student — and authorities have ordered students and staff to stay indoors and secure themselves until the shooter is found.

“We are looking absolutely everywhere,” university spokesman Mark Owczarski said Thursday afternoon. State police officers, FBI agents and officers with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives are searching the campus.

Students at Virginia Tech have been told to stay inside as police search for the man who killed a police officer and another person after a traffic stop. It was the first gunfire on campus since 33 people were killed in a mass shooting in 2007. Today’s deaths came on the same day university officials were in Washington appealing a fine that federal officials imposed over the school’s response in 2007.

According to wikipedia, the 2011 Virginia Tech shooting occurred on December 8, 2011 on the campus of the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. A police officer was shot and killed by a white male during a traffic stop in the Cassell Coliseum parking lot near McComas Hall.[2][1] After that, the shooter fled to another parking lot named the “Cage”, where a student’s body was discovered, killed by the shooter. A weapon was left at the scene. An alert was issued at 12:37 PM, and the campus was placed on lock down at 1:01 p.m., which was then followed by all schools in Montgomery County at 2:12 p.m. along with Blacksburg recreational events planned for the following days. All Blacksburg transit services were suspended. The majority of students were inside at the time for Reading Day, a study day without classes before semester finals. Finals set for December 9 were postponed after the shooting. The alert was lifted at 4:31 PM, and investigators believe that the gunman is the second victim

Occupy movement has been ran for months now and it seems that their movement is not faded away. One of the movement that just recently got headlines on the newstand is Occupy DC.

According to the report that I get from the internet, the Occupy D.C. campaign which is mainly peaceful since its launch two months ago, has started a confrontational Sunday when Police officer detained 31 protesters during a tense day-long standoff in McPherson Square. Indeed it recorded as the first case of mass arrests at the Occupy DC group’s base camp in Washington, and the clash resembled those between police and Occupy protesters in other cities across the country.

Fyi, according to wikipedia, Occupy D.C. is a non-partisan people’s movement focused on spreading the ideas of Occupy Wall Street and Occupy Together in Washington, D.C. The group has been demonstrating in McPherson Square since October 1, 2011. Refer to Occupy DC website, the Occupy DC movement’s goals includes “separating money from politics and improving the country’s infrastructure to fix healthcare, education, environment and the economy,” thereby shifting power from the wealthiest 1% of Americans to the underrepresented 99%.
