Export-Import (Jan 2010):
- Indonesia’s export value reach US$ 11.57Billions, a 13.29 percent decreased from Dec 09. If compared to same period in 2009, it is an increased by 58.99 percent.
- Indonesia’s import value reach US$ 9.54Billions, a 7.35 percent decreased from Dec 09. If compared to same period in 2009, it is an increased by 44.58%

International Tourist visit (Jan 2010):
- The visit of International tourist to Indonesia reaches 493,000 people or a decreased by 21.17 percent from Dec 09. If compared to the same period in 2009, it is an increased by 4.20 percent.

Well, there you have it… The statistic figures of Indonesian Economy in Feb and Jan 10. I do not know about you, but even though it seems not that bright, I still have feeling that Indonesia shall do well on this year !! I do hope that my feeling is right and we can expect more good news for Indonesian economy in 2010 coming months… There are still 10 more months to the end of 2010 anyway

“We will open the corridor to allow other investors to take part. Several investors have filed applications to us. One of them is Emaar Properties (of Dubai). The others are from other areas (than the Middle East). But we still cannot disclose their identity now.
To be sure, they are companies of good caliber,” he said here on Thursday.

The BKPM chief said five companies had expressed interest in developing the project. “They all have equal chance. We will not discriminate against them,” he said.

The West Nusa Tenggara provincial government signed a cooperation agreement with Emaar to develop the project two years ago. But the company has yet to realize its investment proposal until now.

As a result, the BKPM and the West Nusa Tenggara provincial government decided to offer the project to other investors.

So far, the local government had built a new airport and a road linking the provincial capital Mataram to the airport in support of the project.

- From Jan - Dec 09, Indonesia’s import value reach US$ 96.86 Billions, a decreased by 25.03 percent from the same period in 2008.

International Tourist visit (Dec 2009):
- The visit of International tourist to Indonesia reaches 625,400 people or an increased by 17.63 percent from Nov 09. If compared to the same period in 2008, it is also an increased by 2.45 percent.
- From Jan - Dec 09, the number of foreign tourist that visiting to Indonesia has reached 6.32 millions, an increased by 1.43 percent from the same period last year.

Well, to tell you the truth I am amazed with the numbers. I do know that Indonesia economy figures are good, but I never expected that it can be that good In my humble perspective, all above statistic figures really shows Indonesia is in the right track for positive growth, and we can expect that the year 2010 can bring more good news to Indonesian economy.

Since Indonesia market potential for Insurance is really big, there is no wonder Indonesia became a target by many International Insurance company. This situation is very different when we look back around 5-10 years ago. In those days, Indonesian Insurance company rule the market share. But I think now the situation is changing.

In 2006, Head of Indonesia Insurance Council, Hotbonar Sinaga predict that International insurance company shall dominate Indonesia insurance market share in another 5 years. And I think he is right. Now, the name of International Insurance company such as “Prudential” or “Manulife” is very common to Indonesian people and I see that more and more Indonesian people became the holder of their insurance policy.

Personally, I am glad that more and more Indonesian people is realizing the importance to have insurance policy, not only for their life insurance but also other insurance product such Health, House, Car, and Child educations. But as a moslem, I hope that Indonesian Islamic or Sharia Insurance industry can also cope with this condition and play their role to offer their exceptional Insurance products to the Moslem community in Indonesia. As one of moslem resident in the biggest moslem country in the world, it is my personal hope that Islamic or Sharia insurance industry became the major player in Indonesia Insurance industry market share. I do hope this can be materialized in the not so distant future.

As mentioned in Antara site, the price of Indonesian rubber SIR 20 in the international market continued to rise and has reached US$3.12 per kilogram for February shipment due to tight supply and increasing demand, said executive secretary of the North Sumatra Association of Indonesian Rubber Producers (Gapkindo), Edy Irwansyah.

“The US$3.12 price is a quite big hike compared to the price of the first week of January or January 6 when it was still recorded at US$2.97 per kilogram for the same month delivery,” the executive secretary of the North Sumatra Association of Indonesian Rubber Producers (Gapkindo).

Edy said the hike followed an increasing demand in the midst of a tighter supply as a result of an increasing crude price and improving economic conditions.

The automotive industry, for example, has already started to revive after demand rose as global crisis has begun to be overcome. “The price is believed to go up again as demand keeps increasing,” he said.

Due to the rising export price of the commodity the price of raw rubber also rose already reaching Rp24,000 per kilogram.

A North Sumatran exporter, Tjoe Min Fat, said although the price trend was up businessmen remained cautious to make contracts. “Businessmen are still worried over possible sudden price fluctuations that could hurt them,” he said.

The president director of PT Abad&Co. said the rubber price is affected by many factors so that it is very vulnerable to price fluctuations.

He said the price could suddenly drop if it was too high, he said. He admitted that demand from various countries remained high from year to year because rubber is a main material used in various industries particularly automotive.

Rubber traders in Medan, M Harahap, said the price of raw rubber at farmers` level kept increasing and there had been purchase competition due to limited stocks.

During ceremony, Mark Biggs (Dubai Drydock World South East Asia Managing Director) said that up to now their company has completed 5 rigs for international customers such as Angola, Malaysia, and UEA. Biggs also added that now their company is currently undergo in another 4 similar projects which is Jack up Drilling Rigs L206 (expected to be completed in Sep 2010), L207, L208 and L209. He added that one project is taking at least 30 months to complete.

During ceremony, Riau Archipelago Governor, Ismeth Abdullah appreciate the company achievement as a proof that Indonesian workers is really capable producing such a big project for international customers and companies. He then added that this also shows that Batam investment environment is at stable condition and can still attract to many international investor.

Well, in my personal opinion this is really a great news that another big ship project is completed. And I personally agreed with Ismeth Abdullah said, that is really a Indonesian workers achievement and we should be proud of it. I just hope the Indonesian workers can sustain the performance and make the Dubai Drydock World next project, which is Jack up Drilling Rigs L206, shall completed on time.

“Four CN-235/ MPA aircraft are currently under construction by PTDI to meet the South Korean order. One of the planes would be handed over to South Korea by the end of 2010,” PT Dirgantara Indonesia`s chief spokesman Rokhendi said in Bandung Friday.

He said the four CN-235/MPA planes are ordered by South Korea under a contract signed in 2008 at a total cost of 94.5 million US dollars. The production of the four aircraft would be completed in 2012.

“The planes will however be handed over to the South Korean side in stages,” Rokhendi said.

Rokhendi added that the MPA planes will join the South Korean maritime police.
South Korea has been using the PTDI-built CN-235 planes, including two are of the VVIP version.

The CN-235/ MPA planes are the latest version for maritime patrol operations, and are equipped with radar to detect ships sailing below.

The military version of the CN-235 planes is also equipped with anti-submarine torpedoes and other special arms.

“The MVA version has become particularly popular to countries with vast territorial seas,” Rokhendi said.

In addition, PTDI has also received an order for three CN-235/ MPA planes from the Indonesian navy under a contract signed in December 2009.

“The first plane, the construction of which was started this year,will be handed over in 2011,” Rokhendi said.

In the meantime, the first CN-235/ MPA produced by PTDI had already been handed over to the Navy in 2008. The plane modified from the CN-235, is very suitable for marine patrol and for personnel transportation.

PTDI is also still building three Supar Puma helicopters ordered by the Indonesian Air Force. Super Pumas are only one tipe of the choppers built by PTDI.

“PTDI is currently producing Super Puma and N-Bell choppers, while NBO-105 choppers are no longer produced as the license with Messoshmit Bolkow Blohm (MBB) has expired,” he added
