I found this video via Geeks are Sexy and had to share it with you. I have never tried creating Time Lapse projects before, but after watching this video, I think that this is something I might bring into my Video Production class.

The HP “Create Amazing” campaign is a global tilt shift campaign envisioned by McGarryBowen for HP shot, in Shanghai, New York, Santorini, London & Istanbul. The sets were shot in L.A. This cut also includes some of my existing footage from Rome & Sydney.

Within 30 seconds, (thanks to the cheesy sound effects and soundtrack) we had the entire class (we had several absent today) in the classroom discussing pronouns and adjectives. Nice.

As part of a course I am currently taking (Instructional Design), I was introduced to a new tool that I would like to share. It is called Webspiration and it is an online visual thinking tool capable of creating very dynamic flowcharts very easily.

I needed a visual aid to help guide my students through the process of creating a Moodle account on our new school Moodle server, so I created a flow chart. Looking back, I would of used some of the built in graphics to spice it up, but overall I am happy with the result.

President Obama's Education Speech

In about two hours, President Obama will give a speech aimed at all of America's K-12 students. While some people have found this speech controversial and are not letting their students watch it, I think that is a very good education speech and expresses some of my own feelings on education.

I ran the text of the speech found on the White House's web page through Wordle to see what President Obama's speech actually looks like. Here is the results.

New Year, New Goals

As the new school year approaches, it is time for me to set some new goals for myself.

Goal 1: Keep my Desk CLEAN! I have a brand new desk and my goal is to show it off. In order to do that, I need to keep it cleaned off.

Goal 2: Keep Up! True, I do have quite a bit going on at the present, but I will work hard and keep up. I currently have a 4.0 in my Masters program at Boise State, and in December I will continue to have a 4.0.

Goal 3: Push It! I need to push my curriculum, teaching style, and student interaction to a new level. I am satisfied with what happened last year in my classroom, but I see a lot of room for improvement.

Make sure you take time and set goals for yourself and let somebody else know your goals. If you are the only one who knows your goals, it is much easier to push them off or edit them as needed. If you make them pubic (as I have just done), then it is much harder to break them.

Problems End Our Challenge Early

Technical issues on both of our vehicles officially ended our day early yesterday when our Magneto failed on our #78 and electrical problems plagued the #97. We did not have nearly the success we where hoping for when we left on Sunday, but we did have our highlights:

Getting both vehicles through the detailed Technical Inspection
Watching everybody stare in awe at the Hummer
Watching the Hummer finish and receive 57.09 MPG
Stopping at the Go-Kart track on the way home and logging in some serious racing laps

It was sad in that the students that came with this year were all seniors, so this will be the last thing that I do with them as they graduate this weekend. They worked so hard this semester and their dedication was inspiring.

I am looking forward to next year already and I have ideas for next years crew.
